Today, I am suffering because of my disobedience.
My dad told me to read law in school. I loved law and wanted law for a course, but soon I changed my mind because of the things I heard about lawyers when I was in primary 6.

First I would advise you to stop seeing yourself as a disobedient child. Your father suggested law not because he expected you to become a great lawyer. My best guess is that he (your dad) loved the course and the title attached to it. And imagined how he would feel to be called the father of a barrister.

Also your decision to abandon that dream of becoming a lawyer wasn't because of the bad things you heard about lawyers it was because the passion you had for banking & finance superseded that of law. That was why you were able to let the latter go. So I believe that its safe for me to conclude that banking & finance was also part of your dream.

Calm down bro... You didn't leave any dream. Banking is your calling. Yes 3 years without a job can be really embarrassing especially when you have to put up with Nigerian parents and enduring their constant reminders of all your mates who are gainfully employed.

Still its still too early to give up. What you don't know is that Accounting/Banking and Finance is arguably the most lucrative profession in Nigeria. They are more in demand, generally earn more, and they have the best career progression in any industry.

I will advise you to keep searching and hopefully your search will yield positive results and put a smile on your face.

My dear traditions like that exists in communities where illiteracy is at its peak. The moment they begin to have access to western education, they will kick against it as they have done so already. That's why I termed it God forsaken.

Finally, if you sincerely love your husband, you wouldn't let him go through such pain simply because you're experiencing it. What joy will you derive seeing the love of your life in agony and on the verge of loosing his testicle, and you whose suppose to be a loving wife at the center of the torment, comfortably pull the rope to increase his torment. She can always choose not to hold on to the husbands testicle. Its called love. Nobody will kill her.

Your husband shouldn't be made to suffer because you're suffering that's selfishness. The steps taken by you to ensure he doesn't have to partake in that God forsaken tradition will make him love you more.

Marriage is for matured people. You can't tell me that you love and respect your family (wife and kids) and still cheat on them. If both of us are business partners, and you respect me, you wouldn't cheat me regardless of how little the profit we're meant to share is.

Being a man doesn't mean sleeping with your wife alone and ensuring you satisfy her sexually and materially. Its also the ability to control one's sexual desires when your wife is in no position to help you out (during childbirth, menstruation...etc). You must be able to tell yourself I'm married and I love my family so I wouldn't engage in such act. That's the maturity I'm talking about.

Truth is you wouldn't cheat on a woman you love. Your conscience wouldn't let you do it. So if you're the type that constantly cheat on your wife with little or no remorse felt after the act, then the love you have for her (your wife) is zero percent.

The reason why the love you had for her deprecated is because you married her based on her beautiful face and sweet body and not because she was your friend. Women should learn to be financially independent if you want your husbands to take you seriously. You shouldn't dump the financial burden on the man, unless sooner or later he'll begin to grumble. A woman who depends solely on her husband for financial assistance with zero contribution coming from her own end will be regarded as a parasite whether or not her husband is cheating on her.
