Good morning and happy sunday to you all. I'm writing this piece to notify most christian youths of their giving attitude towards God. I remember last sunday when I went to church, when it was time for offering, the girl sitting close to me just removed N20 (yes you heard me right TWENTY NAIRA!) From her purse, inserted it into the envelope and dropped it in the offering basket. Looking at this lady, her sophisticated dressing, her phone, the kind of perfume oozing out from her, then dropping N20 to her creator. To me I saw that as an insult to God. It would have been better if she didn't give any offering at all than embarrassing God. If you love someone and want to appreciate him/her, even if you lack the funds to do so at the moment, you'll still go beyond your limits to prove to that person that you really love him/her regardless of what it'll cost you. Likewise God. If we say we love him (God), then we should prove it by the kind of offerings we give to him. If you have a boss you want to appreciate for a promotion he gave to you, would you give him a gift of N20 or N50? Or you're a final year student whom your HOD just waived a course for so you'll graduate with your mates, would you buy him a gift of N20? You'll end up provoking him and make him regret offering you that help rather than being commended for the gift. In 2Samuel 24:24 David said. And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. So if a whole king like david refused to take a land offered free of charge by a law abiding citizen. How much more we who battle with foundational principalities and powers on daily basics, and still come out victorious. Thanks to the power in the name and blood of Jesus. I want to charge us today that as we go to our various churches, we should appreciate God, if if we have nothing to thank him for, our being alive should be a testimony of his love towards us. So double your offerings by giving him something that cost you much and I'm sure that he in return would bless you abundantly. Happy sunday to you all. |
Its so sad reading this kind of story over and over again. In civilized societies, the government closes down any company that fails to honor their own end of the bargain to its staffs. (Paying them their salaries) But I still don't understand why the Nigerian government cannot adopt such measures. Maybe its because they themselves are renowned debtors. Its no news that some states in the federation find it difficult to pay their workers regardless of the billions they get monthly from the federal government. So going after companies who owe their staffs would be like shooting yourself on the foot. Its annoying stringing workers along for months and years. If you feel the company is broke and cannot pay, then by all means sell it off or close it down. Unfortunately, in a society where most families can't afford 3square meals, workers are being frustrated into moving away from their debtors (bosses) in search of greener pastures without ever getting their owed salaries paid. My advise to you dear op is to start your new job, gather some money, then sue the company. Good luck. |
This is really a decision you have to take your time to make. A contract job where you work 6months and earn over 300k vs a full time federal government job. Noting that you're planning to run your Msc program. For me, I'd go with a full time federal government job any day. Reason being that full time FG jobs comes with job security. They don't sack people anyhow. Unlike contract where once the need arises for the company to reduce their staff strength, you're gone. Or once your contract expires. No pay off, nothing...they just dump you. Secondly, if you add up the allowances and annual salary which you'll receive in a full time FG job, it might exceed that of the contract job or the difference wouldn't be much. And you should note that in a full time FG job, you have the advantage being promoted (which means your salary is likely to increase upon promotion) and going on leave. Contract job on the other hand is all work with no leave, no benefits, no promotion...and you wake up each day with the fear of having your contract terminated. Yes you have all 6months free for yourself, but if you aren't guaranteed of becoming a full staff there, then you should have a rethink. I can't make any choice for you. I would just advise you to weight your options. I've listed the advantages and disadvantages of both and I believe that you'll come to a rational conclusion which would be beneficial to you. Good luck. |
QuantAnalyst:Just be confident and believe in yourself. What most job seekers fail to realize is that employers need them just as much as they (the job seekers) need the jobs. An experienced employee who can prove beyond every reasonable doubt that he's a problem solver and not a liability is what every prospective employer wants. QuantAnalyst:Alright...good luck. |
QuantAnalyst:Well that would be a good idea...but you can also request to see the HRM as well. Dropping hard copies with receptionists isn't advisable cos it might end up in the trash. Ask for the HRM, introduce yourself and hand it over to him/her. If you're lucky you might get interviewed right there on the spot. I've seen so many people that got jobs that way. |
Keep searching, don't give up. Your CV is quite attractive. I would suggest that you keep forwarding it to HRM of various companies. Hopefully one might just call you for an interview and who knows...you might just land your dream job. Good luck in your search... |
ORIJIN201:At 19 giving up on your education isn't the wisest choice to make. Yes you failed jamb, but Jamb isn't the only means of gaining admission. Why not try admission through diploma, pre-science, pre-degree...etc. You stated something like you don't like reading. My dear to survive in life you must discipline yourself. Meaning, you must know when its time to stay away from the social media and face your books. You must know when its time to play and when its time to get serious. Also you stated you're planing on becoming an apprentice. Learning a handwork isn't a bad idea. in fact I would suggest that you enroll in part-time studies, then use your apprentice job to support yourself. Truth is if you lack basic education, it would take a miracle to become financially stable in your apprentice job. Why? Reason is you'll have so many competitors who probably would have spend years in the business and have more experience. So its safe to conclude that customers would prefer to patronize them than you. And if you lack the upper hand which is education, you might see yourself rigmarole the same grass you started from years after. Secondly, most graduates are not finding it easy to cope with the current state of the economy and starting up businesses is quite a herculean task due to the huge capital involved and cost of running the business. How much more someone without basic education, my dear you'll really find it very difficult to cope. You might be dependent on your parents for food and basic amenities for now hence your decision, but one day you'll have to face the world as a man, and if you aren't properly grounded and equipped, you wouldn't find it easy. I'm hoping you have a re-think and give your educational dreams a second chance. Good luck. |
Nice write-up. But the business ideas you listed up there, are highly time consuming. Meaning it would favour a part-time or non-student more than a regular student. I remember when I was in school, the saloon where I barb my hair was owned by a part-time student, likewise the business center I patronized frequently. I doubt if I knew of any regular student then who was managing a business. Unless of course in the area of phone, electrical and electronics repairs. And they were operating from their lodges and only when they're free. Which means their profit each month wouldn't be up to the 50k you stated. Truth is, its almost impossible for regular students to effectively manage such businesses and still cope with their academics. |
mazeltov:I'm telling you...especially the umunya axis of that road. During peter obi's days several contracts were awarded to various construction companies, yet the road remains an eyesore. |
Jarus:Lol...so the organizers of the event will just keep back the award for themselves. Seun should have at least sent someone in Lagos to represent him. |
Jarus:Lol...so who received this award on his behalf? |
Squareroot007:If you're so sure of paying back the loan after one month as stated why not? It will even facilitate the whole process. |
Themandator:If the discharge valve was worn out like you stated, is it when the tanker is fully loaded with fuel and you've driven several kilometers that you'll begin to adjust and try to fix it? Isn't that what they were supposed to do before loading the tanker with fuel? Isn't that gross negligence on the part of the oil company as well as the driver who should have repaired or adjusted his discharge valve before loading his tanker with fuel? I still go with the initial theory of the driver trying to sell off a part of the fuel hence the explosion...it makes more sense |
The rate at which most Nigerians place money higher than their lives and higher than the life of their fellow Nigerians is so annoying. The driver according to the report was sent to deliver fuel, why tamper with it just to enrich your pocket? If he had driven straight to his destination and discharged the contents of his tanker there, this incident wouldn't have occurred, and he and would have still had his precious life. May the souls of the departed rest in peace. |
Nice write up |
ishiamu:Now isn't this funny...a governor builds an estate for pensioners. Now these pensioners have families they cater for and earn less than N20,000 per month. And the least house is sold for N17million. Now the same state government claims that they weren't aware that the prices were too expensive for the pensioners. I wonder the kind of government we have in this country. How can you pay people with families less than N20,000 and expect them to afford such luxury? I've always said this and I'll continue to say it again. The difference between PDP and APC is their logo and party name. The individuals are the same crooks with the same crooked mindset. |
lekonso:5000mb for N1500...I should blame you for allowing yourself to be duped by this cheap scamer. Mere looking at the offer even a blind man would know its a cheap scam. Sorry for your loss...I'm sure that you wouldn't make such mistake again. |
