The currency swap deal simply means we are transferring our dependence on the dollar to the yuan and basics economics is very clear about what happens when demand exceeds supply. It leads to scarcity aka scarcity of the yuan in a few years from now.

Now everybody is saying we need to export to balance our trade deficit. But the point is we're yet to satisfy our local demand for these commodities let alone exporting to other coutries.
Electricity and gas are good examples here.

We are so fixated on having a stronger naira when in fact we should be concentrating our efforts on industrialisation to boost our local econnmy and create jobs for our people that will positively impact on the economy.

I do not see how the currency swap deal which seeks to enhance the over 70 percent import dependency on CHINA will solve our problems.
If anything we will simply have more business men renting shops and selling made in China goods. We forget there needs to be people getting paid in the production sector to patronize the sellers in the first place.

China is merely dangling a carrot at us that would see their people working and getting paid while we languish in poverty and unemployment in exchange for some shiny piece of chinese polished silver. Everybody will be selling made in China goods but where the money will come for the patronage of these goods is yet to be explainf?

Why should we encourage a policy that allows us to continue importing tiles from China when we have precious stones in abundance in Nigeria and able hands that should exploit these resources for a living?

Are we saying we have given up on producing even the basic necessities of life like shelter?

Buhari needs to rethink his economic policy to really give us the change he promised.
