Rather than seeking to claim moral high ground and throwing tantrums from a safe distance, I suggest Soyinka and all others dismayed by that law go to court to seek interpretation of the act as to whether it is consistent with the letters of the law.

I say this because public odium alone has never been koown to be very effective in causing any change in this country.

In sane societies, these would matter. Even if he wins such elections, he would be approached with so much consciousness and carefulness but not with all open arms because the words of a man defines a man and people hardly change.

But I'm still hoping against hope though that these triumphant allies would at least for a moment cast aside ethnic and religious considerations, take up the gauntlet and hold Buhari to his words, and not explain away his failings as was the case with their well known disingenousness at the polls.
