don't you watch the news? Its all over there. I first read it in Saturday Punch like 2-3 months ago and he finally signed it on Thursday. To the issue at hand, this is open robbery. I remember when Amaechi became Governor for his 1st term, he didn't seem sure of himself. Now, fast forward to 2012. Power has really corrupted him.

All what these Yoruba leaders are concerned about is just the honouring of Abiola and nobody is against that because he truly deserves it but these Yoruba elders are not seeing Abiola for what he truly represented. The reason for the protests was because stakeholders of Unilag just can't bear the thought of the name and identity they have built for 50 years disappear just like that. If the FG truly want to honour Abiola because he stands for everything Democracy, then the following should have been considered; National Stadium Abuja, NASS Abuja, Eagle Square Abuja, Int. Airport Abuja e.t.c instead of Unilag that is in the SW and a college that Abiola was never recognised/associated with. By renaming Unilag, the FG still has not succeeded in honouring Abiola for what his struggle and death stands for. They have only made him seem like a tribal and not national figure. If Abiola is to be honoured, then he should be honoured PROPERLY.

I attended UNILAG from nursery school all the way to Postgraduate level (all my education has been at unilag) and im not bothered if its name is changed or not.

Fashola is indeed intelligent. Issue of labour groups and their employers is a give and take thing.

i didnt say we shouldnt request for better pay because we all need it but If you are an employer, will you let your employees order you around? Fashola did what he did to avert the total breakdown of law and order in the Civil Service. Now the recalled Drs will soft pedal and won't request for a pay rise for the time being. Thats the strategy Fashola employed to make them back down.

do you visit public hospitals? I guess NO. These doctors act like gods and some even have their own private hospitals and they get paid more than their counterparts in other professions. Lagos State hasn't got what the FG has. If they want to be paid the salary of their counterparts employed by the FG, why don't they seek employment in Federal Government owned hospitals? They were just greedy and they paid for it.

I really admire Fashola's intelligence. I knew he was going to recall them. Im sure they will never repeat what they did. Constructing an enclosed bridge is modern and a good idea but installing airconditioners in it in present day Nigeria is sheer stupidity given that Nigeria is not known to have proper maintenance culture. Governments in Nigeria should instead seek for ways to improve the economic situations of its citizens and not embark on unecessary fanciful stuffs that don't add value to lives.
