Victoronah1: I clearly understood what you wrote. You are trying to compare nonsense. Why would you say "How many level 16 directors are PhD"? Is that not a stupid comparison. Did they tell you they need to be PhD holder to become director's? Na so all of Una dey feel like because you have highest academic qualifications makes you superior to others. Nonsense
Maybe you should ask why professor's are not becoming president in Nigeria, but only people with waec.
I wanted to have a meaningful conversation with you, but clearly you want to take this conversation to the gutters. Well, good luck with that, I'm out of the trenches and you can't bring me down to your level. Infact all public Universities should be closed down and money to be used to pay the staffs should be channeled to something else. People like me are already out, so continue. |

Victoronah1: what do you mean are they PhD holders, you think it's only people who are in university are PhD holders. And let me correct you, there are requirements for different sectors in life. As a lecturer you need to attain the professor level title to feel among, a politician does not need to have a master's talk more of PhD. Neither does a nurse need to be a professor to be in her department. A professor is not superior than any one of them in their own field. Stop comparing nonsense. How many judges are professors? Or do you need a title of professor to become a judge? Universities don't make money for federal government. You want the government to keep going into dept to sustain universities that doesn't make money for them.
800k is too much. A normal salary should 400k or 500k max.
Please drink water, and read through my post again and slowly this time. Apologies if you misunderstood my post, of course there are people who have PhDs outside the academia. I'm not saying there isn't, but read through my post again. |

Victoronah1: 800k for a professor, you guys must be very selfish, and wicked. How much is director at level 16 in a ministry with over 35 years of work salary. Is your job more professional than them. Even permanent secretary salary is not up to 500k. Wicked souls. A teacher at primary school with over 35 years will retire with 70k max, but Una go take almost 800% of the salary. Now I see the reason ASUU is on strike. Federal government should sack all professors, who are into this, and replace them with PHd people who are serious.
In India average salary of a professor is 477,352.78 If not for the devaluation of our currency.
How much are specialized doctors earning.
Let me say that you are not speaking from a stand point of understanding. How many directors of level 16 are PhD holders? Of primary school teachers that are Masters degree holders? Remember that those specialized doctors are also taught by professors in that field. You spoke about Indian professors, but I thank God you corrected yourself by hinting on the devaluation of our currency, our money has absolutely zero worth as it is right now. Do you know that you keep publishing in journals, both local and international, you do research with zero support from our government or industries in the form of grants. So you do your research from your own pocket, you pay for your publications (most times in dollars) from your own pocket. And you say 800k is too much? HABA!!! Get small conscience nah, I published 2 papers in international journals last year the cheapest cost me $100. By our current exchange rate, that's around ~71,000naira now, don't get me started on my ongoing protons exchange research, that's costing millions of my personal money, I send samples to labs in Canada and Netherlands because we don't have the needed equipment in Nigeria here. A course mate of mine who lectures in the UK was given a €2,000,000 grant by the EU. TWO MILLION EUROS!!! Do you understand where I'm coming from now? Well, not that it matters to me anymore now. I have been disillusioned by this country as it is right now. So goodluck to y'all. |

Paedophile lots. I smiled at this, I'm not saying that there are no bad eggs in the Universities, of course there are. But it's the generalization that I really don't personally like. Okay, let me give you this challenge. Go to your niece's school, go to the HOD's office and request for her results, any results you see there that you are not comfortable with request for a remark of those courses and watch your niece beg you to overlook it. I have seen my fair share of rubbish in the university, you'll see a female student dress suggestively to your office begging you to upgrade an exam that the results are not even out yet, because she knows that she didn't do well in the exam. My students know better than to approach me with such rubbish, because I've publicly embarrassed a few that tried that, staffs that don't have selfcontrol will want to take advantage of that situation and you'll see that same student come out to scream blue murder. There avenues provided to students to report such behaviors by staffs even anonymously. Take advantage of it, or you can PC me and I'll guide you on how to go about it. |

Education › UNILAG Leads Mass Resignation Of Lecturers Over ASUU Strike by CzarChris(op): 10:18pm On Aug 30, 2022 |
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is leading other public tertiary institutions in the number of lecturers resigning their posts due to the federal government’s poor handling of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU’s) ongoing strike.
Dele Ashiru, the UNILAG’s ASUU chapter chairman recently disclosed in Arise Television interview that about 70 percent of the institution’s best lecturers have resigned from their jobs.
Ashiru in his speech reiterated that the federal government’s disposition towards university professors is disrespectful and insensitive.
“The impact of the government’s insensitivity and deployment of the weapon of hunger might not be immediately known until after the strike. As I speak with you, more than 70percent of bright and promising young academics retained by the university through mentorship have all left the country for greener pastures due to the poor conditions of service in Nigeria.
“Those that are left are on the verge of leaving. No government in the history of Nigeria has been so insensitive, brash, and disrespectful of the best brains in the country. This is unfortunate and a shame,’’ he said.
The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife also is among the institutions affected by this ugly development.
According to Adeola Egbedokun, the ASUU chapter chairman at OAU lecturers have begun to resign and relocate abroad for greener pastures. However, he could not give an accurate number of lecturers that have resigned from their jobs in the institution,
Similarly, Oluyinka Awopetu, the ASUU chairman at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA)-Ondo State revealed that lecturers are resigning in their numbers and relocating abroad for a better life.
“There, of course, are lecturers that are traveling out of the country in pursuance of further qualifications.”
“It is impossible to say they abandoned the profession authoritatively. Others sought ways of coping in this difficult and trying time as well. One may not be able to say if they are coming back or not! If you were in their shoes and you find a better opportunity, what will you do please?” he asked.
Recalled that Emmanuel Osodeke, the president of ASUU had lamented the mass resignation of lecturers in most public universities due to the federal government approach of ‘no work, no pay’ which the union members considered insensitive.
“So many lecturers are leaving to engage in farming and others; lecturers are tired of the treatment they’re receiving from the government and because of this, they are looking for alternatives. So many more will leave even after the strike too.
“I pity the country; Nigeria will be the loser for it. Instead of coming to the table; look at how they will solve the issue, rather, they believe in punishing lecturers. It’s so sad. Your lecturers went on strike, you believe they will become hungry and come back to beg. Many lecturers will also leave to venture into other areas; some are also looking at becoming self-employed,” Osodeke said.
ASUU embarked on a 30-day warning strike on February 14 to give the federal government the opportunity to address its demands, which the government failed to do, and the strike is still lingering after about 195 days without a clear direction of what comes up next. https://businessday.ng/education/article/unilag-leads-mass-resignation-of-lecturers-over-ASUU-strike-ashiru/

Kagd10: That's why we need to ensure our country gets better.. Saudi Arabia don't even accommodate strangers even if they're Muslims. As long as you're not Arabs. Worse is if you're black. In fact, they hate Blacks the most.
Only Dubai tries to accommodate the Rich Black foreigners but now, they're driving them out too.
That's why we need to develop our country. That's why we need Tinubu, the most progressive competent liberal leader among the candidates need to be voted.
Tinubu's legacies as a Lagos governor include..
1. Creation of Agencies (which employed & still employs thousands of employees): LSDPC, Public Works, LASTMA, LAMATA, LIRS, much more... Other agencies were then created by then Gov Fashola e.g LASRRA, etc.
2. Building of Public facilities: Standard Millennium Schools, Markets across the state, LASU projects and LASU Teaching Hospital, Other Major Hospitals/General Hospitals includes:
a. Ifako-Ijaye Hospital b. Alimosho Hospital c. Somolu Hospital d. Mushin Hospital e. Ibeju-Lekki hospital etc and several health care centres.
3. Massive Housing Estates across Lagos.
4. Development of Lekki Ajah axis and others.
5. Conceived the BRT project and constructed the dedicated BRT lane from Island to Mainland. BRT operation started fully under Fashola.
6. Massive Infrastructural development: Construction of Road networks all across Lagos. He invited President Obasanjo to Lagos to commission roads in Surulere, Yaba and other parts of Lagos.
7. Providing IPP to Lagos State Institutions, from General Hospital Lagos Island to Secretariat Alausa
8. Focus on IGR by making several economic policies which led to enormous increase in Lagos revenue today. Ensured Lagos thrived despite Obasanjo seizing Lagos allocation for years.
9. Development of Lagos State Public Service & Secretariat Alausa encompassing many MDAs. Employment of Technocrats to head MDAs.
10. Another big achievement was the conception and starting of Lekki seaport, Eko Atlantic, Lekki Free trade zone and other multi billion dollar projects on the Island.
11. In addition, Tinubu also brought in the First telecom into Nigeria.
Above all, ABAT brought in technocrats into the State Public sector as Commissioners, Heads of MDAs, which has continued till now. He recruited across tribes..
In summary, ABAT is the architect behind the modern Lagos.
Let each candidates list their legacies in relative to how they would improve the country or shut up their noisemaking. Simple as ABC. We're not gonna ride on blind faith like before. Let us improve the country. Tinubu is the only one who can.. The only progressive competent liberal Leader among all the candidates.
Cc: pineed. Now this is what I'm talking about, an issue based campaign, not the throwing of mud at your opponent and smear campaign. This is the most sensible and non tribal charged campaign I've ever seen online. Please advise others to follow this method. We are divided enough as a country as it is now. Let's not add salt to injury. Thanks. |
