Yes. But there was never a court ruling in favour of the governors. The FG backed down and decided to share the money. And to be fair the state governors wanted the money shared because they didn't trust the FG to really save that money, and for good reason. Then of course there was their own greed.

Personally, i think President GEJ didn't want to lose favour with his former colleagues in the Governor's Forum. Sadly, at the end of the day,they still stabbed him in the back. A leader must sometimes be strong and stand his ground.

Oga, you just failed your driving test o! At an intersection, a traffic officer's hand signal overrules traffic lights, giveways and other road signs. Not every country has sensors or push buttons for pedestrians. In fact, not every state,city, county or village in "advanced" countries have these technological advancements. They still have to follow conventional traffic rules.

It is highly unfortunate that this CCTV capture have no value other than a clip. The suspect (the man) could not be identified and they could not zoom to capture the plate number. People just buy any how CCTV and patronized quacks. That's not the kind of camera to be stationed outside (outdoor) on a major street. If na me do this job them for catch them life, i swear.

Actually,with the the right software you can zoom in and focus on those plates.

I went through the Front page and I just nodded in disappointment at the level of foolishness in this country. Our young ones or the youth have been given a wrong set of role models, the likes of patience Jonathan and Ayo Fayose who continue to deny the occurrence of the Chibok kidnapping.
Unfortunately these accidental civil servants have transferred their ignorance and complete foolishness to the people that mentor them - most of our young people on Nairaland.
Is it a coincidence that this same set of accidental civil servants are always in the news for corruption or one form of evil or the other?

The level of foolishness and ignorance exhibited by these people on Nairaland is appalling. Imagine one being surprised that SS3 students in the North can't speak proper English. Obviously a never crossed beyond the Niger to know what obtains up North. I even know students in SW,SE and SS who can barely string a sentence in English together.

Only God knows what will cure their ignorance. Of course, some are just being ignorant on purpose in a bid to give credence to their biased opinions. They might as well call Boko Haram and all their bombings a scam.

Except the conditions have changed, this scheme was tied to enrollment of your child in school and immunization right from the onset during election campaign. That's what was in the APC manifesto.

1. The 5000 naira is per household and not per individual
Yet again another poorly thought out intervention. This is not a Conditional Cash Transfer because i cannot see any condition the beneficiaries have to fulfill other than being poor and destitute in order to receive the 5000 naira. Ideally, A CCT intervention is designed to lift the household out of poverty by encouraging them to perform some sort of poverty alleviating activity in exchange for payment. 5000 naira cannot lift a household out of poverty!!!
A well thought out CCT programme would ideally have two components: A Basic Income Guarantee (B.I.G). This can be the 5000 naira given per household however after they have satisfied certain conditions i. e must have Children in school or must be involved in some income generating activity already. This can be given for 2 years or whatever duration of time and it basically guarantees the household a basic income...as the name implies. After 2 years, the second phase, a Poverty Reduction Accelerator Investment (PRAI) is given to households. This will be a bulk sum of money to be used to boost their business or start one. This could be a sure way of lifting households out of poverty...in theory

The only comments I'm really interested in is that of those who may have benefitted from this program. Everyone on Nairaland is supposedly rich and 5k is beneath them. It's seemingly lunch money or recharge card money for many.

But in the words of the song "Mr. Wendall" from Arrested Development;

I don't think the guy said Lagos was safer. He implied that he felt safer, which is personal not general.

There are people in this country who feel safer here than anywhere else in the world. You know why? Because here in Naija dey have the retinue of AK47 wielding MOPOL's surrounding them. They are unlikely to get shot on the street or in the mall by some random gunman, except it is a targeted assassination.

Outside of Nigeria, nobody sends them. No MOPOL, DSS or anything to offer a sense of security. Many of our "big men" and their kids fall in this category.

Yes, you're right. But in times of crisis, companies must learn to innovate. Arik management has always been poor, that is why they are failing woefully at this time. A company that delays and cancels flights at a time when there is aviation fuel can never think outside the box when there is a scarcity of the same fuel simply because they don't care. Their attitude will always be "ehen, what do you want me to do? Turn myself to fuel?" Some airlines have been going to get aviation fuel from neighbouring countries.

Yes, I'm back. So let me get this straight. Are these GENCO's not private companies who were giving licences to generate power? Now, this N460 billion debt owed to gas companies, was it incurred by the GENCO's or did they inherit it from the government when the sector was unbundled some 2-3 years ago? We need answers to this questions. If some of these so called GENCO's are not capable of doing the business they signed up for, they might as well pack up and go, and their licenses be rescinded. And the same goes for the DISCO's too.

As for the government, they need to bring in real power sector players into this industry,not all these charlatans that are only out to exploit Nigerians. And they must also create a more conducive environment for these GENCO's and DISCO's to flourish. Wecan't continue with this one step forward, two steps back madness.

For those blaming Fashola, sorry but your Minister of Power is a lame duck who can only regulate the sector,formulate policies and issue out licenses to private sector players. The only part of the power supply chain under his ministry is the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). In other words, he can only transmit what is generated by the private GENCO's. I doubt that he can generate 1MW on his own without private sector participation. A review of the whole sector is needed.

Why would you think sacking of staff equates to spite the FG ?
When a tough policy was put in place to force banks to recapitalize where staff not laid off ?
I think a coy would lay off staff to save cost or else they will go into administration or fold up all together .come on man we see this strategy all day in the west

Brother, you have not been following my discussion with Billyonaire. I'm not the one who suggested sacking my staff to send a message to government. I consider downsizing staff as a matter of last resort when all else fails.
