This is extreme. Though i didn't see the foul committed by Onazi, I don't think it's right to fine him.
I think that Eyeanmas fine is political to some extent. They've been playing in Akwa Ibom which is the most convenient. But when he kicked against the Kaduna venue, they felt that he was supporting pdp huh
Obviously you and many others defending Onazi did not watch the match. Onazi was not red carded for a foul. A Nigerian player, Odion Ighalo was fouled in the penalty box. The ref blew for a penalty in our favour, yet Onazi still went ahead to attack the Chadian player. That is violent conduct.

He also put the team at a disadvantage. What if we missed the penalty and then Chad equalized against our 10 men or even won the game. We will start with calculators again. He deserves his fine.

how much does Nigeria pay onazi as match allowance that authorizes them to want to steal his hard earned 5k in broad day light
$5,000; even when he plays rubbish. If he did that in his club he would be fined at least a week's wages too.
Sports › Re: Enyeama To Appear Before NFF Disciplinary Committee, Onazi Fined by dabossman(m): 10:16am On Jun 21, 2015
Make we talk true, Enyeama misyarn small. If he a Nigerian and team captain is expressing fears about playing in a part of the country, then we should not blame other nations if they express fears of playing in Nigeria altogether for security fears. Just last year if I remember correctly, one country, Congo I think, expressed fears about Calabar. Even if he had reservations it shouldn't have become public knowledge. He should have just discussed it in private with the FA. Yes Kaduna was a bad choice as far as the pitch and weather is concerned.

As for Onazi, na normal thing. Even clubs sanction their players for such conduct.

Not so fast...

All my references to 'trust' were to explain to you that they were actually friends, because you seemed to think they're not.

All I'm saying is, going to visit someone that is supposed to be your 'friend' should not be seen as 'willingly putting yourself in a vulnerable position' like you say. If the reverse were to be case for the genders, this wouldnt even be a topic for discussion. And this is where the issue of the level of depravity of our men should be addressed. That is the key issue here. Leave the victim to nurse her wounds in peace and focus on the actual issue.

#OkBye
Thank you o. Let's reverse the roles and imagine that it was the guy who went to visit the girl because he was bored and on getting there the girls..., wait for it..., brother and his friends pin him down and sodomize his back side, would you lot be here blaming the guy for going to visit a girl he considered his friend and potential girlfriend?

You're completely out of point!
The places you mentioned, the people there had no choice. But even that, a married/single woman can quit her job or report to the authorities, if her boss harasses her sexually.
Likewise the others.
The girl had the option of meeting those guys in another place aside from their home, but she chose not to.
I could remember when I was young, my mother would warn my sister seriously, not to go to any man's house, whoever that person might be.
Prevention is better than cure.
Like I said earlier, with a smart lawyer, those boys can get those charges dropped, even though they're guilty.
So for your mind now your sisters never visited any man on campus because of your mom's warning abi? Stop living in a bubble my friend. Oya confess, a girl who is not your babe has never come to visit you at home before? Should they also be scared of being raped simply for visiting you? Mind you I said colleague not boss, and last I checked asking a girl out is not equal to sexual harassment.

Again, it could happen to anyone.

For all those trying to justify the actions of those animals by blaming the girl, I pray it won't be your wife or daughter some day o. I would be glad to hear you blame your wife/ sister then o.
- she knew that her colleague was toasting her, yet she continued to go to work.
- she knew that her classmate was scoping her yet she continued to go to school.
- she knew my friend's son liked her yet she let him into the house while we were out.
- she knew my cousin who stays with us likes girls and watches mojo yet she stayed at home with him while we were away.

interesting, ....

I detest ra'pe, but this is just being stupid, she's trying to avoid him and yet she normally goes to his house to while away time, undecided ..who goes to someone's house by 9.30am on a Wednesday to while away time??

please we shouldn't jump into conclusion yet, like some posters have already done...there's more to this story, someone is not just telling the truth.....ra'pe my a'ss angry she probably has been having an affair with the guy in question, just that this time she wasn't expecting a foursome
Oh please give me a break. So, you have never in your life had a female friend who you asked out and she said "no" yet you and her were still chummy and could still hangout at her place or yours before? In fact, that is normal life on university campuses all over the world.

You don't go raping girls because of that. Those guys had no excuse. Even if she was his lover, is that enough reason to ask his friends to come over and gang rape her. If she were your sister, would you be here rationalizing a crime?

If I were coach Edwin Okon I would have done worse than that. How do you expect me to have a hand shake of peace with those white dudes? When it was so glaring that every body was against us? Abi na only after de match FIFA or person de know peace? iiiiiiiiissssshhhhh. The referee was simply partial. Look at the way and manner she (Ref) threatened Ngozi Okobi when she tackled a US player lightly. She still went ahead and awarded the yellow card; She was just against Nigeria. I am suprised that uptil now so many ignorant and e-righteous and religious Nigerians in their normal hypocrisis are criticizing Coach Edwin Okon for refusing to have a hand shake with the US Coach, na by force?
How many of us called FIFA to order when our able right back Njoku was given a heavy ban of 3 matches and fine for a wrong/foul that so many players have committed and gone scout free? What about the case of Ogenyi Onazi during the 2014 FIFA world Cup in Brazil? What did FIFA do? I congratulate our coach for telling the referee, FIFA and the entire world that he was not please with the unfair officiating between the Super Falcons and the US WOMEN national team. Let it be on record that a Nigerian had the courage to do that. If Nigerians were this righteous, most of the problems that our economy has faced would have been in existence. Lets call our call all our past governors to release the monies they have stolen so that salaries will be paid and stop venting unnecessary anger on people that don't deserve it.
I refuse to accept racial abuse from the whites in any form it might come.
#Stop e-RighteousnessItWon'tHelpUs#
Qoute me if you think you are righteous and can control your temperament in a situation like this better than Coach Edwin Okon.
Hogwash. Was the US coach the one controlling the ref? Why didn't he boycott the post-match press conference to show his displeasure and send his message to FIFA directly?Abeg, talk something else.

I see nothing wrong in what he's tweeted concerning these allowances thus far, he's making the right noises.
If he rejects the allowance ALONE, that's 25m, but if he convinces a coalition of legislators to reject same, say 10 senators, that's 250m. Which would you rather happen? And which occurrence will cause his colleagues to have a rethink and hopefully spark debate on the role of RMAFC in this remuneration scam?
Yet another intelligent mind. All hope is not lost. Nowhere in those tweets does it say the man has changed his earlier position. He has simply implied that he also needs to get his colleagues on board to effect a reduction or cancellation of this ridiculous bonuses. And for that he is being crucified? Sheesh!

Sorry Nigerians, we lost it.

I think we need more tactical and technical people in our technical crew. Most of these so-called coaches lack what it takes to lead a team to a great tournament as this, I even doubt if any of these guys attend any training or course to this effect.

I wish the Nigerian government can invest in sport, most especially football, by setting up schools of football/training schools. If we must be great at the International level, there is a need for proper coaching of our talents, I believe this would also help in the discovery of more and better talents that could be groomed into superstars.

Not just by inviting people into the team as a squad, just few weeks or months to a great tournament as this. We need proper teaching, lectures, grooming and training with no exception to our technical crew, in order to be able to catch up with the international standard and rub shoulders with counterparts from other nations.

I wish our girls safe flight back home. embarassed cry
The problem goes even beyond the national team coaches. It starts right from how this players develop before getting to the national team. The first thing we need to do is tell ourselves the honest truth. Talent is not enough.

We pride ourselves so much on the cliché that talents abound across the country. Yes, they do. But monkey post, neighbourhood field or under bridge talent won't win us senior world cups o. The most you will win is U-17 where raw talent reigns.

What kind of training do our players get between the ages of 11 and 18? Is there any informed technical input? Usually, the answer is no. The Messi we see today is not on the same level as the one we saw at U-20, neither is today's Ronaldo the same as the one that joined Man U years ago. You can point to specific areas where their game has improved.

For me, where we need foreign coaches or foreign technical assistance is not even our senior teams o. It is in our academies and age grade teams.

Not unlucky, just in a tough group where they only stood an outside chance of qualifying from. The draw against Sweden gave us a bit of hope, but I think we underestimated the Aussies and we got punished. Beating the US was always unlikely. I'm not disappointed. The draws never favored us.

We were always the outsiders in this group, but Naija people like to raise their hopes too high. Then when their hopes are dashed you begin to hear angry comments all over the place. NFF barely even prepared this team for this tournament. The U-20 boys ha a better preparation.

You've said it all bruv. Nigerians tend to have unrealistic expectations about their teams. From the day the draws pitched us in the same group with USA and Sweden, any real football enthusiast will know that we only stood an outside chance of qualifying from that group. All these angry comments are because some of you expected too much. I'm hoping the girls can cause an upset, but we are not favourites.

Nigeria is one country I see that do not use those factors when selecting players. Our players tend to be small. Look at Cameroun for example - big, sturdy players.
That is because we place a lot of emphasis on skill, or more appropriately flair over other technical abilities. The only Nigerian team that had the qualities you talk of all over the pitch was Westerhof's team.

Wish I could see the face of the dude who said Germany would not lose any game in this tourney. Plus, the Serbia he asked us to avoid by fire by force is still in the competition.

As for abandoning the thread; personally I think following football on Nairaland is becoming increasingly annoying. Too many ridiculous comments everywhere. People constantly whining and complain. Hate comments, tribal comments and unpatriotic comments everywhere. Very irritating, I tell you. Only a few folks make constructive comments, even in their criticism. Most are just unnecessarily caustic.

After the 2010 world cup, I read a quote by an English fan that said "supporting England is a life filled with agony, but I won't stop supporting all the same". That is a true fan. Not those that join Ghanaians to call their own team "super chickens". Shameful, I tell you.

Big ups to Joseph who created this thread, the goodjoehunt, safarigirl, leecodeman, supernerd and all the other good folks who continue to support the national teams no matter how painful it maybe sometimes. I salute you all. Cheers. On to the U-23, U-17, Falcons and Super Eagles. God bless Nigeria.
