What da...? This is an international airport for heaven's sake. Is this what we want to subject foreign visitors to? Rolling up the cuffs of their pants just to disembark from a plane? This is unacceptable, even for Nigerians.. |
I blame Fashola, Aregba and APC for this. Oh wait, OAU is a federal university. Dang! I thought only APC governors were guilty of this school fees hike thing. APC, PDP - Same noni! |
For a player who played for big teams like AC Milan and Inter Milan, they could only mention Plymouth Argyle to his name. ![]() |
blueto: are you a new nairalander?E be like say the guy na learner. ![]() |
Losing start for LVG. Game 1 of 38 gone. The season is still young. I'm not expecting any miracles. Top four would be good enough #realist |
DrGill: pls, kindy state or mention one match u guys won wit fair play? *hands crossed*I don't indulge in arguments that are not objective. I guess you just started watching the EPL a few years ago. |
kultimate009: Man Utd makes my skin crawl.... Everything and everyone about Manure disgusts me.....It's just a game bro. Why do some of you get so extremely passionate over an ordinary game. Players from different clubs hangout together at national level. You dey here dey turn belle for one football club. |
DrGill: sure, me tank God.i don chop 25k, tanks to Swansee city,i gav dem first half win...You better go and fix your black and white TV. So United has never won a game fair and square? I hear you. |
elklehamite: When Rivers state Governor was prevented 4rm entering Ekiti state during her election ,APC & all those who doesn't see anything good in the ruling party's administration outrightly condenmed the action of the security forces (Army). But neither did the security forces nor APC told the world the reason(s) for stopping Gov. Ameachi. He was carrying a bullion van 2 Ekiti which he doesn't want the security forces to see/know the contents, which impliedly means he was carrying exhibits. Secondly, Lai Moh'd a spokesman of APC was said to be arrested in Osun state, the question is what was he doing there? He is 4rm Kwara state not & voting in Osogbo or are we saying he was an accredited election observer? Plse, lets try to be objective & not to allow sentiment to becloud our sense of reasoning/judgement. The opposition i think we desire for this country is that which should be constructive and not that which does not see any single action of the ruling party to be good. They should sometime give credit where they deserve and stop defiling the same office they are aspiring to be tomorrow. For someone who is talking about being objective, the bolded shows how you lack any form of objectivity. So, if elections are holding in Lagos tomorrow, it means other Nigerians cannot come into the state the night before for whatever reasons they choose? They must remain in their states of origin, right? So, a Nigerian is not free to move around in his own country again? What about the PDP chieftains who were in Osun during the elections? Should they have been arrested and deported too? Objective indeed. |
Er, is this the new season of Super Story? What an intriguing plot. Big man tries to bribe the DSS then got arrested by an unnamed security agency not for said bribery, but for carrying a large amount of cash around. And the big man still remains nameless... Ghen ghen..., nail biting drama..., full of suspense... |
Leetunechi: Mek we come begin dey cry now or wetinAnd we wonder why our present crop of footballers play more for money than national pride. It is because of people like this fellow here. Need I ask what you are doing to stop ebola? Any ground breaking research? Ah, yes you are just sitting scared at home wrapped from head to toe in polythene. |
I remember that day just like it was yesterday. I watched the game with my dad on NTA and remember Siasia with his hands on his head as he signaled the medical team. Later in the night it was reported that Sam had died. A dark day in the history of Nigerian football. |

yomexp: nairaland.com is a faceless forum where anybody can claim to be anything without any much ado. so don't equate an election to whatever is happening here on nairaland; is this a joke or what? You took the words right out of my mouth. We might as well hand power back to the military since the only language Nigerians understand is a strong hand, right? Some folks sha. |
safarigirl: what makes you think the other side isn't a misinformation as well?@Safarigirl, why you dey fall my hand? Did you not clearly see where I said "might"? Did I discredit the OP in anyway? I clearly said we have been given two perspectives. Did I say one was right and the other was wrong? |
Whether the intentions behind such high military presence just for an election were noble or sinister, I still believe it is not a sustainable model. It is easy to flood one state with so many soldiers and policemen, but can the same be effectively repeated next year when we have the general elections? Can we cover every state, local govt and polling booth with the same high level of security? I think we need to start moving towards having credible elections through adequate voter education, highly effective electronic voting that is fraud-proof and INEC being non-partisans. Yes, we are probably still a little far off from such an ideal scenario, but turning a state into one that seems to be under a state of emergency because of an election should not be a long term solution. In 2011 ther we only two policemen at my polling booth neither did I see any soldiers around the neighbourhood but the elections were peaceful. We voted and waited for our votes to be counted. Simple and hassle free. |
ugoezeik: i tink its tim fg shud ban dis nollywood. Their a so disgusting! Wat of boko haram and sambisa, apc n dpd amechi n patience. MtchewwwwwwThe FG should ban a thriving industry that employs hundreds of thousands and contributes significantly to the country's GDP? C'mon. Yes, the industry needs restructuring and better regulation so they can produce better movies. Asking for a ban is like cutting of the head to cure a headache. In truth, the goverment can't even ban Nollywood as an industry. Not in a proper democracy. Dem wan give lawyer and activists job be dat. Or you want a #bringbackournollywood campaign? |
Its good to see that Nigeria is not gradually turning into a one party state as some folks in the PDP would want us to believe. I also want to cautiously believe that Mr. President is being sincere with his "free and fair elections" mantra. However, filling a state with police and military presence for an election is not a sustainable model. Do we have enough policemen and soldiers to man every nook and cranny of the country in 2015? A lot more needs to be done through voter education. INEC officials also need to be encouraged to remain non-partisan. Above all, Nigerians must be willing to cast and protect their votes. We only had two policemen at my polling booth in 2011, but we all waited till the votes were counted and recorded before we left for home. Someday, hopefully, we will have elections without all this drama. God bless Nigeria. |
LaurelP: Tribalism in evrytinI don't think this is a case of tribalism, but more a case of trying to correct what might be misinformation on the part of the OP. Now we have two perspectives. Maybe at the end of the day, we will have one. |
newspapers: @ Airforce. As in eh, I was so surprise when i saw this on http://www.divanaija.com.ng/chika-amalaha-tested-drug-positive-zobo-drink/Bro, stop talking about stuff you don't know. Since when did diuretics become "hard drug substances?" Diuretics are usually administered for the treatment of various diseases and syndromes, including hypertension, heart failure, liver cirrhosis, renal failure, kidney and lung diseases, as well as a more general reduction of the adverse effects of salts and/or water retention. Diuretics were first banned in sport (both in competition and out of competition) in 1988 because they can be used by athletes for two primary reasons. First, their potent ability to remove water from the body can cause a rapid weight loss that can be required to meet a weight category in sporting events. Second, they can be used to mask the administration of other doping agents by reducing their concentration in urine primarily because of an increase in urine volume. The urine dilution effect of diuretics also allows them to be classified as masking agents and precludes their use both in and out of competition. Some diuretics also cause a masking effect by altering the urinary pH and inhibiting the passive excretion of acidic and basic drugs in urine There are certain herbal teas that are diuretic in nature. Caffeine is a diuretic. Roselle(Hibiscus) which is used to make Zobo has been used in folk medicine as a diuretic and mild laxative. |
easyelliot: Germany won the world cup so they would be the current standard not countries that didn't win.Every coach can do better, so what's your point. Joachim Loew went to two World Cups and two Euros with Germany before they became the "current standard". Keshi went to three AFCON's with three different teams before he got it right. Who says he can't do better globally with more time? Did you not see a glimmer of something positive in the games we lost to Argentina and France? He could have pulled Mikel off, yes, but how are you sure that would eventually be a positive move. He pulled him off in the friendly against USA and the midfield collapsed. I would suggest you visit FIFA 2014 World Cup site and compare Mikel's stats with other players in his position, especially players who played similar number of games (i.e. 3-5 games) and you will realize it wasn't all gloomy. He could have done better for his standard but sh*t happens. Let it go. http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/statistics/players/player-comparison.html#h234463a367388 |

Facts don't lie. The team that had the best record with Howard Webb in charge.... IS MAN CITY!!!
|
easyelliot: I am resigned to the fact that Keshi is our coach and happy that fifa thinks he did such a great job, but is this the best we have to offer? Can you explain why Paul Bento left a half-fit Cristiano Ronaldo on the field? Why did Sabella remove an effective Lavezzi for a Sergio Aguero that was just returning from injury and ended up being largely disappointing? Why did Del Bosque continue to start a half-fit Diego Costa ahead of Fernando Torres and David Villa? (The one game those two started they both scored.) If you can answer these questions, I will answer yours. |
Yet another "Keshi should have this, Keshi should have that" thread. Sometimes we speak as if football is mathematics. Can you predict when a player will have a good game/tournament or not? Keshi is not World Class, but which African coach is. Oliseh? Has he even coached a secondary school team yet for us to know how good he is? And which of the World Class coaches can we afford to pay constantly without owing? Was Berti Vogts not World Class? After all, he won Euro 96 for Germany, and that was after winning silver in 92. Yet he struggled with Nigeria. Till date only 9 countries have won the World Cup. And only 19 coaches have won it. So, what happened to all the other world class coaches? Capello, Hiddink, Klinsmann, Van Gaal, not on the list. Let's not even list the number of world class players that have never even smelt a world cup semi-final not to talk of final. You guys expect too much from a mediocre team. And don't even mention Costa Rica because that was what they call a fairy tale run, similar to Senegal in 2002. They may not even qualify for the next world cup for all you know. |
ideee03: While reading through the symptoms my mind was echoing YES,THATS TRUE,YES,YES....what does this mean?It means your mind is hollow, otherwise it won't be echoing. ![]() |
Goke7: me sef I tire, I almost fell off my chair hearing names of kanu and Okocha, we deceived ourselves too much in Nigeria anyway since there are over 100million coaches in Nigeria, people believe that just anybody can coach the Eagles which is pure fallacy. It takes a lot of guts to be Eagles coach especially with the kind of sports administration Nigeria only westerhof and keshi kind of coaches can survive more than 2 years on the Eagles job.Yeah, the administrators don't help at all. It's also funny how people continue to say Keshi has zero tactical acumen without even taking a look at the players who will execute the tactics. How many of our players are expert at set pieces for their clubs? How many play regularly in the top leagues. Even those who work with world class coaches in Europe, how well do they fare? How many are in the top 20 in their positions globally? A coaches tactics is only as good as the players who will execute them and how thing turn out on the field of play. Where did Vincente Del Bosque's tactical acumen disappear to at the last World Cup? What of Prandelli? Scolari? Under Keshi Nigeria has played better than we have in a while. We've seen some brilliant performance against Ivory Coast, Mali, Italy; even Uruguay and Argentina that we lost to. Keshi is not the best coach in the World, we all know that, but he is one of the best in Africa and that's a fact. Unless we are ready to employ the likes of Hiddink, Van Gaal, Capello, Prandelli, Loew and so on, we should just cut Keshi some slack. Truth is even those World Class coaches can't guarantee success. Berti Vogts and Lagerback come quickly to mind. |
Goke7: surely you do not understand my posts so far, we can't have experimental coaches anymore, we've tried it in the past with sia sia when we promoted him from being a youth coach to the senior national team and we all know the result, this is not supersports tv analysis o, we are talking about the Senior National team here and you are mentioning okocha and oliseh because of what you are watching on tv, we should see what Garba will achieve with the u-20 before we rate him and i tell u if he fails to win the u20 world cup which we've never won before, nobody including you will reckon with him anymore, this is not u-17 o, your suggestions are nothing to write home about.Dude, I like you patience o. Can you imagine his suggestions? Every single one of them untested. He didn't even say Siasia. And he compares them to a man who has coached three African national teams, qualified two countries for the senior World Cup, reached the round of 16 at a World Cup and won AFCON. Tomorrow if NFF should appoint any of those he suggested and they don't perform, he will still come here and call them names or say they won some games by luck. |
Goke7: can u please suggest a better coach than keshi who will lead to us to the promise land? if you can I will agree completely with all you have said but should I remind to suggest coaches that have gotten to the quarter finals of the world cup if not the all this your talk about tactics and selection skill will be crap, if we really want to move forward let's be sure that we are heading in the right direction.Err, don't waste your time with that dude. His mantra is 'What is not good for mali and Togo is not good for Naija". He is not about to change it. You can't win this one. Just let it go. |
