MegMich: My dear! Is it not obvious Keshi has under achieved?. Safe for the referee, we won't have made the round of 16.Ah, now I remember you and your signature "I rep Naija". Don't think I should waste my time with you bro. I know where you stand on this matter. Hopefully NFF will employ Van Gaal, Mourinho or Sabella soon. All the best. |

vokalguy: I totally get your point and I agree with you BUT I don't think it will be a bad idea to have a coach that has tactical knowledge and implement a 'total football' mentality on his team. I would love us to meet the likes of Ghana, Egypt or any big African country and beat them comfortably. I am sure you will agree with me when I say Keshi cannot read a game to save his life... well most of the time he is sitting down chewing gumWell, it may be a bit difficult to conclude on that. His records in the last two years reads: Played 37, Won 17, Drawn 13, Lost 7. Not entirely terrible stats. We've seen his team come back from behind to draw or win games against teams like Italy, Catalonia, Morrocco. That was becoming a rarity for the Super Eagles. Even against Argentina, there was a spirited fight back. Have you stopped to think that maybe Keshi just lost to better coaches with players who are more technically gifted than our lot. Tactical know-how also requires tactical disciplined and technically gifted players to execute. How many of our players are the dedicated free-kick, corner-kick or penalty takers for their club like Okocha was at a time? Keshi can't teach them that in their old age. Sitting and chewing gum is no big deal. Aime Jacquet of French winning team from 1998 hardly ever stood up from the bench. 2013 Competition GP W D L GF GA International Friendly 7 2 4 1 11 7 2013 Africa Cup of Nations 6 4 2 0 11 4 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup 3 1 0 2 7 6 2014 World Cup qualification 6 4 2 0 9 3 Total 22 11 8 3 38 20 2014 Competition GP W D L GF GA International Friendly 5 1 3 1 5 5 2014 African Nations Championship 6 4 1 1 13 8 2014 World Cup 4 1 1 2 3 5 Total 15 6 5 4 21 18 |
MegMich: Bad business!!Bro, you do know that for every example you've given there are also counter examples. The same Keshi coached a home-based team that came from 3 goals down to win 4-3 against Morrocco. Won AFCON after 19 years. Oh, plus Ghana also failed to beat a depleted Burkina Faso, even after much assistabce from the referee. Argentina also won the World Cup in 1986 after a famous "Hand of God" by Maradona. That was refereeing blunder too. |
vokalguy: PERSONALLY, I do not think its a good move. Looking at it from two different perspective; continuity is good for our country, I do not remember the last time we had one person manage the super eagles for more than 3 years. On the other hand, I think Keshi lacks tactical discipline... yea we can get away with it against African teams but outside the continent, I feel we barely threaten these so called 'big teams'. This should be a source of concern to the NFF. Keshi should either be assisted by a technical adviser OR he goes for training or something. I do not think 'big boss' should be too big to learn from European managers. While I agree that Keshi needs help to improve as do most African coaches, you also have to agree that we play more African teams in competitive games than the big European or South American teams. We play World cup and Nations Cup qualifiers against African teams all year round, not to talk of AFCON and CHAN every two years. We only meet the Europeans and South Americans competitively every four years at the World Cup or Confederations Cup (if we win Afcon). So, if Keshi has the "juju" over African teams, it's a good place to start. He hasn't lost to any yet if I recollect correctly. |
jhidey08: pple lyk u can neva learn, until u go outside and fumble. Sweeper as a position in football isn't a technical name bt a position invented by sum defenders, in all d lessons I've taken in football in my lyf I've neva heard of a sweeper. It's jst lyk using a 1970 Biology textbook and using it 2 argue with sum1 who has d latest edition. Did u knw dat in 1978 world cup dere ws nothing lyk back pass? D goalkeeper is allowed 2 catch a ball deliberately passed 2 him by his teammate without being penalized, bt it's no more in use. What year do u think d "offside" rule ws introduced? Pls try and ask 'ur google' and check d possibility of using a 'sweeper' in d game of footbal. There might be sumthing lyk a "sweeper" in d football of d past bt football of nowadays, dere is nothing lyk dat.You case is beyond remedy. Does the diagram point out number of players or positions on the field? Is 2004 when Greece used a sweeper the stone age? @bolded: Did someone not invent "tiki taka", 'total football", formations like 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, 3-5-2 and so on? Or did they fall from the sky? You need to go and take your lessons in football again. Or was it you local academy coach that taught you the nonsense you know? By the way, I like how you stylishly avoided commenting on your "mistake" about the full back and wing backs. Or that one too is 1960 "soccer". Oh, and this is what Google has to say about football and soccer. Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a sport played between two teams of eleven players with a spherical ball. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_football Now how does "or" translate to being different? Or do I have to school you in grammar too? I'm done with you bruv. Continue to live in you bubble. If you still want to take me up on this open a different thread and let Nairalanders tell us who is right or wrong. |
jhidey08: guy, football is diff 4rm soccer if u dunno. Sweeper in soccer? May be in d 1960s o, bt nowadays dere's nothing lyk sweeper in d game of soccer. LFB= left full back, RFB= right full back. Dat was a mistake.Bro, you are still messing up again. Football is different from soccer? Last I checked we have FIFA not FISA. Or did I mention NFL in my post? Do you know that Manuel Neuer at the last World Cup was being cautioned by analysts for playing the role of a sweeper for Germany even though he was a goalie? Have you heard the term "libero" before? Yes, the role of the sweeper is not as prominent today as before, but some teams still use a sweeper. Since you are too lazy to use Google, let me help you. The sweeper is a defensive position in football, so called because their job is to 'sweep up' the ball before it can go into the goal. It was most commonly used by football teams in Europe until the 1990s. While the position usually has solely defensive duties, Franz Beckenbauer, the most famous sweeper, became famous for adding an offensive component to the role. Other notable sweepers include Gaetano Scirea, Bobby Moore, Franco Baresi and Elias Figueroa. It is generally considered a highly specialised position. The sweeper is usually placed between the goalkeeper and the defensive line. The sweeper is sometimes also called 'libero' from the Italian word for 'free'. A recent and successful use of the sweeper was made by Otto Rehhagel, Greece's manager, in the 2004 European Championship. Rehhagel utilized Traianos Dellas as Greece's sweeper to great success, as Greece surprisingly became European champions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweeper_(association_football) And by the way, you made no mistake. You just don't know the difference between a fullback and a wing back. The full-backs take up the holding wide positions and traditionally stayed in defence at all times, until a set-piece. Modern full-backs take a more attacking role, overlapping with wingers down the flank. There is one full-back on each side of the field except in defences with fewer than four players, where there may be no full-backs and instead only centre backs. The wing-back is a modern variation on the full-back with heavier emphasis on attack. The name is a portmanteau of "winger" and "full-back". They are usually employed in a 3-5-2 formation, and could therefore be considered part of the midfield, although they may also be used in a 5–3–2 formation, in which they would have a more defensive role. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defender_(association_football) Please check the diagram below to understand better. Now, I say again, simply thank me for schooling you in football. Your knowledge of the beautiful game is obviously limited. Heck, you don't even know if I have a coaching certificate from FIFA and you are here arguing on a faceless forum.

berem: ok you win!Correct babe. Very matured. Make you sef dey try watch Naija TV small, enough of Telemundo and Afmag. ![]() |
Eldavido1: How idi0tic can one reason? nurses are paid # 30000 as hazard allowance while doctors receive #5,000 and ure here talking crab. Someone is exposed daily to the risk of HIV, hepatitis, various infections and now Ebola and dis fool is comparing it with ordinary passengers and air hostess. May thunder strike NMA if they call off dis strike witout our demand being met.You just ruined your argument with the bolded. No one is ordinary. Those ordinary passengers are the patients who pay the hospital bills that pay doctor's salaries. Those air hostesses may just be the ones to save your life if you ever end up in an air mishap (God forbid). You can make your point without belittling others. |
Huge fan of the show. Even my kid joins in the shout "Hey" at the end of the theme song. ![]() |
jhidey08: hahahahaha, brother y? U jst made my day with dis response. I won't xplain anything 2u anymore, I think I understand who u're now. In case of next tym, dere is nothing lyk Sweeper in d game of football (is football a kind of office job dat u need a sweeper?).@bolded: You are so ignorant. I'm obviously talking to a kid. Google is your friend you know. Just google football and sweeper together. Also there is a difference between a full back and a wing back. But what do you know. Yet folks like you will come and say Keshi is tactically inept. |
One thing I know about 2face's albums is that it usual grows on you in a few days and then you just increasingly begin to appreciate each track. This was the same way critics initially wrote of Grass to Grace and Away and Beyond. But now we know better. |
4evaRich: which book ? |
mikeansy: 15 players in football?Haba, not you too Mikeansy? Quoting a comment without knowing the line of discussion. Smh. |

jhidey08: I'll only further argue with u if u can tell me full meaning of doze positions and c if dey make sense 2 u. Only den I'll believe u really knw sumthing abt football. phuckNL: It doesn't matter. It's what you inferred from your comparison. You still don't get it. The dude said Christian Chukwu is better than Keshi based on Fifa rankings. He made the unnecessary comparison, not me. |
jhidey08: which 1 is LM, MRF, MC, AMC? I only knw of RMF, CM, AMF,LMF and DMF as midfielders o, mind u, diz players r midfielders only if a team plays 4-4-2 formation. Pls tell me d formation Stephen Keshi used at d world cup. Y don't u sit down and think abt my points. Keshi used dis last world cup outing 4 business. How many strikers did spain use in Euro 2014? Football is all about a strong midfield and a good tactical approach. Sentiments apart, Keshi is poor tactically and makes biased selection.Same of the same. Basic positions on the football pitch: ____________STC_______________ AML ________AMC____________AMR ML__________ MC ____________ MR WBL ________DM_____________WBR DL_________ DC_______________DR ___________SW________________ __________GK_________________ Keshi's favourite formations are 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 with the likes of Moses, Musa, Babatunde and Osaze playing behind the lone striker, Emenike. You accuse Keshi of going to do business like you were the one managing the deals. So, tell me, how many of the players Keshi went to sell have changed clubs yet? You need to stop watching the Super Eagles with emotions and sentiments and face reality. The best we can get with the coach and players we have is what we got. Yes, Keshi is not the best tactician in the world, but our players are also not among the best in the world, save maybe for Enyeama. So, what were you expecting? To win the World Cup? I knew before we kicked a ball at the World Cup that the best we would get is 2nd round. Anything after that is a bonus. Which is why I'm not bitter with Keshi, nor the players. You can't give what you don't have. Nigeria is not a super power in World football at senior level period. Until we can hire the best world-class coaches in the world and have players playing for the top teams in the big leagues and not Turkey, Ukraine and Russia, this is what we will get. Tone down your over-bloated expectations. Keshi has done well by African standards. |
phuckNL: Are you seriously trying to use FIFA ranking to determine the performance of a coach. Are you ok? Are you smoking Sep Blatter weed?Stop jumping into arguments you don't know the genesis off. The fellow I quoted based his argument on Fifa ranking and I simple gave him facts and figures. Gosh, the way some peeps rush to comment sha! Smh. |
jhidey08: u don't even understand wot I'm talking abt. In dat Super Eagles' squad, apart 4rm d starting eleven dere was no influential substitute on d bench. How will a sane coach pick jst 4 midfielders 4 a world cup, don't u knw dat midfield is d heart of a team. Doze 4 midfielders were gabbage sef, apart 4rm manageable Mikel and fantastic Onazi, Azeez na wash, Reuben Gabriel played jst 49minutes 4 his club throughout last season, yet ur Hero(Keshi) took him 2 world cup. IK uche ws a force 2 reckon wit last season bt he picked uche nwofor who featured in jst 4 league games 4 his club last season. Do u knw anything abt football at all? This is where some of you get it wrong. Keshi had more than just four midfielders. Ahmed Musa, Osaze, Micheal Babatunde and Victor Moses are also midfielders. (ML, MR, MC, AMC, AMR, AML). The four you are talking about are largely CM and DMF. Germany went to the World Cup with two registered "strikers", but we all know that Goetze and Muller are very potent goalscorers. You call Azeez who has just 3 caps and played 1 game wash, but I bet you were one of those calling for Keshi to invite him because of his club performance. Diego Costa was a bigger force to reckon with in La Liga last season. Much more than IK Uche. And he still didn't perform, even with Iniesta and Xavi as his supply chain. Ditto Ronaldo. So, what guarantees you a stand out performance from Uche? Stop watching football with your emotions and sentiments bro. Do you know anything about football? |
curiouslad: You assume a lot!Off course I know it was an analogy. But did you miss the part where I said the OP is based in the UK? BBC is largely free-to-air in the UK once you've paid your TV license. Even if the NTA was available on Sky for pay-per-view she still wouldn't be able to watch the Games on NTA as the signals would be scrambled. I agree with every other thing you've said about the NTA's ineptitude, but how does that help a Nigerian based in the UK? |
shadrach77: We need to free this guy and allow him leave. Shebi he was boasting that he had several countries lining up to employ him? Why then has he suddenly changed his mind and decided to choose Nigeria? It's obvious he was only using SA and other countries as a leverage to get NFF's attention. Now that he has realised that they don't give a toss about him, he is systematically advertising himself. He is not a good coach.Hhm, people and their lopsided analysis. Nigeria was 63rd when Keshi took over. Now we've jumped 29 places to 34th. Now tell us, what was our ranking when Chukwu took over and what was it when he left? Don't worry let me school you. We were 35th and Chukwu moved us to 24th. Just 11 places further. Westerhoff moved us from 18 in 1993 to 5th in April 1994. That is a jump of 13 places. Now tell me, who has done better in moving Nigeria forward on the rankings? |
lordeasy: Did u take special note bro? British nigerians!...."british" comes befor d "nigerians" u knw? Besyds, as long as one makes a living there, u v gat to be taxed(british or not). Woeva dey choose to broadcast will PRIMARILY reflect THEIR VALUES & INTERESTS.....other events elsewhere is SECONDARY! My point basically is........we v gat NTA lyk dey v gat BBC! Dey v chosen to go global with deir programming( as evidenced in deir offices worldwide, eg BBC africa with reporters and offices in various countries in africa) yl NTA has chosen to give primary focus to d activities of happenings in d ruling party and d FG! Lyk I said, we should rather vent on NTA for nt providing us with free-to-air access to d CWG and nt on what BBC chooses to broadcast!the OP is a Nigerian based in the UK and the BBC holds the right for domestic broadcast of the Games, so where else do you expect him/her to catch what BBC denied him/her of viewing. The UK is home to many nationalities and those people pay for TV license. The BBC should not just focus on only British athletes. Other nationalties too deserve better service. |
curiouslad: Yes i jumped the race card, but it was obvious what the op was getting at.You obviously don't know much about broadcast rights for events such as this. It is not as simple as buying "your own TV". What if your neighbour has been given exclusive rights to be the only one who owns a TV in the entire locality and you can only watch TV by going to his house? That said, the OP is a Nigerian based in the UK and the BBC hold the right for domestic broadcast of the Games, so where else do you expect him/her to catch what BBC denied him/her of viewing. The UK is home to many nationalities and those people pay for TV license. They deserve better service. |
jhidey08: which determination? Dey qualified simply because dey were in d weakest group in d World Cup. Keshi is a fu*'ing businessman. Sum1 wit such an awful performance @d world cup ws given a presidential welcome, sum1 dey shld av questioned. Went 2d world cup wit jst 4 midfielders, didn't av a substitute who could replace an injured player, d idiot man collected money 4rm doze players, especially doze new ones. Dat's y he pressurized dem 2 threaten NFF 2 boycott d match against France, knowing fully well dat if we were eliminated at dat stage, it would b difficult 4 him 2 get his money 4rm d players. Our stupid govt flew sum amount of money 2dem so dat dey could play, dey shld av allowed dem 2 boycott d match, I swear 2 God all of dem would av suffer 4 it in dier various clubs. What are you on about? Who replaced Neymar when he got injured and to what effect? You think it is every player you can replace just by throwing on a substitute? Do the players have the same technical, physical or mental abilities? Will they play with the same mentality? Does Igiebor or John Ogu play like Onazi. Did you see any French player that successfully replaced the injured Ribery? Or who replaced Suarez to great effect in the Uruguayan team. Arm chair coach, talk about what you know abeg. |
disloman: Sentiment apart, this guy ain't technically sound n his flaws were shown at d world cup.Yes, just like Scolari and Del Bosque right? |
QuiverBox: Read the Post again, I can't see where the OP mentioned "Black" .Nuff said!
|
Dhelake: The NFF will be so stupid to give him a contract, he plays victim after every tournament just to get better payA man isn't paid his salary for months, is constantly treated with disdain by the federation and fans like you, yet he is playing the victim? ![]() |
I was so happy to see this young lady win that gold. I had thought we could no longer win the long jump gold medal since Blessing Okagbare had opted out of it, only for Ese to jump into the lead on her 4th jump. Kept praying that none of the others would leap beyond her mark. A remarkable performance. |
Afam4eva: The video is really funny and has some truth in it. Apart from the commonwealth games being a competition that brings Britain's former colonies together, it is a place where small countries can console themselves. We can all agree that there is little or no competition in the commonwealth games. Nonetheless, i like watching the sprints irrespective of the competition.Even if all the games achieves is to bring together small countries for their own day in the sun, I don't think it's right to now ridicule such an event. That's like ridiculing CHAN, or the Paralympics. They all serve their own special purpose. The Concacaf Gold Cup which the US has won several is a competition of "small countries" like Grenada, Nicaragua, Haiti, Martinique and what not. Why don't they put their money where their mouth is and leave Concacaf for Conmebol. After all Australia moved to the Asian Federation for better competition. |
Who cares what the Yanks think about the games? Are these not the same people who call a league of predominantly American teams the World Series? They might also try to explain how a game predominantly played by running with an oblong ball in your hands is called football. Football indeed. |
oyb: So you are confirming the rumour about her sister and chime? You realise that you are actually making it worse. By implication, at least two close members of her family are at the very least, gold diggers of the most bizarre kind. That on its own is giving credence to what you refer to as slander.Dude just made Clara's case worse. So she was convinced to go into a marriage by gold-digging relatives and she agreed? Arrangee marriage? That's not a good one for Clara. *goes back to observing from a distance while sipping kunu* |
