Angels wey Greater than Una, wey come mess up Before una, dey wait for Lake of Fire, na una, wey Last come, na im go escape? 2 Peter 2:4-6;

Jude 6 and 7
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Your Proof Supplied grin
Sodom and Gomorrah did not burn forever, they were simply destroyed by fire. If that is an example of what God would do, then it could mean Hellfire is not about burning forever but utter destruction that stands forever, meaning the soul is forever erased from the memory of God like the cities Sodom and Gomorrah.

Mark and John do not mention the virgin birth because it NEVER happened. Take away the 1st chapters of Luke and Mathew that talk about a virgin birth and then you realise the virgin birth is not mentioned anywhere by any of the Christian founding fathers.
The virgin birth was similar to other virgin births of other man gods in Ancient Rome. The virgin birth was a clever insertion into the bible by the writers of Luke and Mathew gospels and that is why Paul does not talk about it in his numerous letters because such an event was not known to the early Christians.
You guys need to do a little research and stop being afraid to ask questions!
I am a Christian, but I already know all this. I cannot say with certainty that it was an insertion though, I'll say that it was probably part of the oral stories about jesus making waves at the time which matthew and luke adopted for perhaps different reasons.

Matthew probably believed it fulfilled the prophecy in Isaiah 7, while Luke may have just heard it somewhere and it may have been popular in his circle. The others may have ignored the story or probably tossed it aside as a rumour since Mary was probably no longer alive to give the true account.

Here are my questions:

1. How many computation do we do in Nigeria?

2. By Judging a computing Scientist by mere programming is it a wise judgement ?

3. Can we Objectively compare a computing scientist to a programmer?

4. Is the field of programming constrain to computing science? If yes why so? If No then why not compare a programmer to a physicist, chemist, mathematician? Why just computing scientist?
Computer science may not be all about programming in thesame way Medicine is not all about surgery, but we cannot deny that software development is a major part of computer science, and coding as well as programming is the driving force of most software applications.

Those who go for a computer science degree, study almost everything and they are mostly theoretical. At the end, they end up not being able to apply these things in the real world.

The education system in most part of the world is shitty in my opinion. The Curriculum could be tailored in such a way that the last year of the computer science course allows for only specializations and practice ie a frontend developer focuses on frontend end practice, and so on.

God is not judging man based on his inherited sin but based on his works, Abraham, Noah never knew the Lord Jesus in the flesh yet they were saved, the work of creation is enough to convince any man about God's existence and if they desire to draw near to him he will manifest himself to them and they will be saved.
but in the book of Romans people knew about God but they changed the truth of God into a lie, Jesus said humans love darkness more than light because their works are evil. so the excuse of not knowing Jesus does not fly because according to psalm 19 the glory of God is revealed in the very heavens and the earth declare his wondrous works, so no body can have any excuse.

yes humans in the lake of fire will burn forever because sin is that serious.
If Jesus who is the son of God suffered such terror, even God turned his face from him on the cross then you should know the seriousness of sin before God
.
Think about it, jesus did not burn in hell forever and ever, although he suffered.
So I believe when the bible refers to everlasting fire, it is referring to utter destruction without hope of entering God's kingdom. This is the worst fate reserved only for Satan and his Angels. Hellfire is simply death or utter destruction. There is no time measurement in it from my understanding.
Except you are telling me that God would simply create a new body for humans only to burn it forever and ever, or with what body would they suffer forever and ever?

You are contradicting yourself sir.
First of all you say the virgin birth of our lord Jesus is not the foundation of christianity.
Then you in the next breath say maybe it is for Catholics.
My question to you is how do we get to the death and resurrection of our lord Jesus without the virgin birth?
Where does the bible say that the VIRGIN birth is a factor or prerequisite for the death and resurrection of jesus christ? Mark doesn't even mention it in his gospel for his readers, but it is a gospel nonetheless.

I think it's because our school curriculum is not practical intensive, to tell you how bad it is, I know a CS graduate of class 2014 and till now she still not versatile with basic computer skill or even MS office not to mention coding...

Yet she's a GRADUATE, and has enjoyed Npower teach for over 2years.
lol just to be a bit controversial though, I know people who know how to code but are not very good with MS Office. They learnt coding before Excel or even MS Word.
Some people even prefer coding to the drag and drop. For example some may enjoy using pandas ( python's data library) or R programming language to do even some simple task than using excel.

You can finish what you need to know in many cases, and what is important for the IT job you want in 3 months.
For example if I need a frontend job only, all I need to get an entry level position is Html, css, and javascript. I don't need a computer science degree for all these at first, if that's all the job requires for entry level.

At the end of the day, the CS graduate chose computer science in order to build applications or softwares in majority of cases.

If people can learn how to build these applications and softwares from the internet in 6 months to 1 year, while a graduate in cs who spent 4 years in the university still knows nothing, then I think we have to redefine our system of education today.

Absolute bullshit

You can learn whatever outside the four walls of the classrooms but a CS degree is far beyond just writing codes that this self taught courses gives you. I can bet a lot of all these so called "Software engineers" don't even know what data structures are which is the basic building block for all programming languages. I still have to sometimes reference my 2nd year text books on primary keys in projects. Now imagine someone who never even glossed through it.

That things have been abstracted to the point that you can drag and drop doesn't make you more knowledgeable than someone who understands the inner workings of the system. I would take a CS graduate with a few years of experience programming than a so called " established self thought programmer". In the long run the difference is extremely clear. The western world made the mistake in the early 2000s trying to outsource software development work to Indians who self taught and didn't go to traditional schools. When the quality of work dropped and the turn around time in terms of what jobs were completed and the errors they had to fix after. No one told them before they started withdrawing such critical aspects of the Software dev cycle from their hands and looking at home made CS graduates.

The same issues happens in the GIS field with people who just learnt how to use QGIS on Udemy believing because they can draw maps they are better than someone who studied the basics of stastiscal analysis for years before laying hands on the tool itself. What most of these courses don't teach you is why are you doing the things you are doing. They only show you how. That's a big gap of knowledge that still needs to be covered for you to be fully certified as a knowledgeable person in your field which sadly is something most self taught won't dabble into to learn more about.

The question is would you give the Civil engineer who understands concrete and sand ratio, soil analysis the job of building an important bridge in your city or give the job to someone who learnt over YouTube that if you are building a bridge you just have to add 50% cement and 50% sand to the beam to make a bridge without considering that each environment has their own peculiarities?

You don't necessarily need to go to the University to learn all these things. Anyone can learn data structures and algorithms from books and the internet, the more you code and the more you build projects, the more you learn the things you need to build those projects.
You don't necessarily need a computer science degree. Computer science studies in universities to me is almost no different to maths and statistics majors, which you can learn practically on a good data science bootcamp or consistently from YouTube and Udemy.

As someone graduated in CS department, is stu.pid for a web developer to equate him or her self to a computer science graduate.

Why they do that is because in the field of IT, people can care less on your degree but what you can do. And most computer science jobs you can easily startup and start doing as entrepreneur.

Nonetheless, there are also some industries within computer science that you require adequate degree to start.

Look at it this way, becoming a lawyer doesn't mean you can practice in all aspect of law. You need specialty again to practice in different law departments.

But the good thing about law is, even though you can learn it by reading law books and not go to school properly, you can't practice without a law degree.

So every dick and Harry can go an learn coding or even hardware and equate themselves to real vs graduates because they don't need degree to practice. I wish it was like law, that no matter where u learn, you can't practice without a degree or being called to bar. Law really set a huge standard.

I think IT industry is toeing that part little by little. Big industries now, you must have ITIL or CompTia A, or MSCS or some other certs before they can even consider you in any IT job. Is a good start.
Why is it a good start? Law is different from IT. What you know in law consist more of theoretical knowledge, and that is what University is all about most times, but in software development, it is different. You don't need a computer science degree especially if you are from a quantitative background, you can learn whatever they have learnt with your innate problem solving skills. These are usually data structures and algorithms, which you learn better by the hands on approach.

Most people on the thread are saying they aren’t religious, don’t believe in pastors and some even said they don’t believe in the Bible but they believe in God. shocked
How can you believe in God and not believe in religion and the Bible? As long as you believe in God you are religious because god is a product of religion. If it weren’t for Christian religion most of them wouldn’t have believed in God in the first place so they’re simply deceiving themselves.
It is possible to believe in God without religion. It is true that God is a product of religion too, but then the question of God is also philosophical and in some instances, a scientific question.
So the one who puts aside religion, could also decide to continue believing in God as the intelligence or force behind creation but not necessarily adhering to religious stories.

Culture is dynamic and an ever evolving thing that flows out of human minds to reshape societies. When culture are influenced by human thought, there is a departure from the norm, civilization is born. Civilization is force religion, culture, and tradition contend with every where and time. Civilization is a dynamic thing we all contend with. In years to come who knows the kind of wedding that till be vogue and acceptable in the world? I think our concern is not what practice comes from where but what goes from blacks that wins global acceptance.
But blacks are not very powerful economically and politically, so how would they adopt things from us?

Good day Nairalanders, I'm currently a final year student of a prestigious Federal University studying Chemical Engineering.

I have come to realize that I love Data Science and I will like to be a Data Scientist. This doesn't mean I regret studying Chemical Engineering. I love Chemical Engineering but I have more penchant for Data analysis of any sort.

Please advise me on how to go about this Career path of becoming a Data Scientist even tho my field of study is not related to it compared to the common ones like Computer Science, Statistics etc.

What courses should I be looking forward to in my Masters and PhD (God's grace) that will make me fit into a Data Scientist even though I have a background in Chemical Engineering.

NB: I have a Cgpa of about 4.3 and likely will be awarded the best graduating student. So changing my path is for no other reason than passion.

Thanks as I welcome your advices.

I am also a chemical engineer interested in Data science, unfortunately careerwise there is almost no relationship between both, except a complete career switch in my opinion. If you are good at using data science languages like Python and R, then you can go into Bioinformatics for a Masters and PhD, which would make your switch into Data Science easier.
The major option I see is to start from scratch and go into a complete switch in your masters degree by searching for Digital Engineering programs that admit engineers of all stripes.
However if we ignore our very little options careerwise, I believe we can also apply data science skills on chemical datasets found on Kaggle. One can also dabble into process control and statistics as a major elective in a chemical engineering Masters degree program.
Most chemical engineers use only excel and matlab for their data work, you could focus on those areas of chemical engineering as well.

What jesus wants from us is to do what he says, if he truly is our lord and we have accepted him. Heaven is going to be here on earth, the righteous are to inherit the earth. Hell fire is also here on earth to completely destroy satan and the devil. Hell fire is not the final punishment here but the second death in a lake of fire.
If you want to inherit the earth, then do the works of christ as outlined in the gospels. After you believe then you begin your journey, by working, ie obeying the teachings of christ, if truly you are a follower of christ.
If you are a Christian then you have been called to do serious work to bring the kingdom on earth

How do they understand it?... And when are we supposed to have this peace?

So if Jesus is a normal man with a father and mother? How did he become God?

The sacrifice of jesus was not human sacrifice in thesame way the sacrificial death of a leader for the birth of his new nation cannot be termed as human sacrifice.

jesus is a normal man, jesus is God because he possessed the Spirit of God in fullness ( without measure) to represent God on earth, the spirit that created the world from the beginning.

We now have the spirit but only jesus had the spirit without measure then ( it became his own spirit, so you can speak of jesus as though you were referring to God). In the world to come we would all become gods like jesus too.

For starter, virgins don't give birth.. The Jews don't have the idea of God mating with human.. Those are Greek /Roman mythologies..

As per the problem of sin, God already gave a solution in 2nd Chronicles 7 :14. He never through any prophet say the Messiah was going to be a sacrifice for sin.. He abhors human sacrifice, it is an abomination to him..

In other to discredit the Jews and use propaganda to say they are the new Israelites.. But they are not..

The Messiah God promised the Jews was a normal human from the line of David through Solomon his son as genealogy is only transferred from father to son... He will bring peace between Israel and his neighbors.. That is how they will recognise the Messiah, not through miracle or rising from the dead..
So virgins don't give birth, but snakes and donkeys can talk?

God abhors human sacrifice but allows reckless animal sacrifices for sin? Besides many Christians do not understand the sacrifice of jesus as a human sacrifice.

Jesus was a normal human being, and through his teachings and his faith, Israel( and by extension the world) would have peace.

It’s quiet shameful that many people worship and dignify the image of a white man( Jesus Christ) brought to us by the same people who exploit us everyday(slavery) and claim he is God. U talk about ruthlessness in the Old Testament and they run to the New Testament as if it,s a different God. Logic and reasoning is imbued and always applied in our everyday life except when it comes to religion we are asked to just believe and not ask questions. Some claim to believe Jesus because they experienced him(visions, dreams) forgetting that these stories have already been handed down to them from when they were kids(when their sense of judgement and boundaries have not been set) indoctrination at its peak.some people have scammed others using the name of Jesus even tho at the mention of his name every knee should have bowed including the scammer. The Bible in the Old Testament and new both supported slavery even human sacrifice but yet people always make up reasons why God did so. Wars and killings have been done in the name of Jesus, Allah nd other Deities more than it has been done in the name of satan. Ancestral curse has never followed Germany or Belgium who murdered millions of people but it has always been our problem. None of Paul,s letter were addressed to any Black continent including egypt nd even Ethiopia which were mentioned in the Bible but yet we read letters addressed to others and claim it’s for us. Mohammed married a six years old girl and had intercourse with her at nine yet people see him as a role model, why would a supreme being just sit and watch us kill ourselves in the name of finding him. Our problems are ours to solve because if religion has ever been the answer then Nigeria would be among the top countries in the world. We all need to look inward and control our beliefs not the other way round. This is not an attack on any particular religion. Am jst saying the whole concept of religion is false. Existence of a supreme being is highly probable nd logical but none of these religions know anything about him/her/it. Read carefully before u start pointing fingers.
Yes, I also believe in the existence of a supreme being and probably other supreme beings, but most of these religions are complicated and illogical in trying to explain what they don't know.
It's best to say that God may exist, but we know little to nothing about God yet.
In my opinion, the best knowledge of God comes from observation of the universe, as well as self meditation than the many doctrines stipulated by confused religious people over time.
