Sagamite: You are a person!Child of inequity...those pictures you so desperately rely on are not the majority of the Niger delta population by any means.... But I understand your evil motive for relying /clinging on to those footages you saw as reality... People of your type and persuasion need justification and reasons to show that the oil found in the nigerdelta cannot be mined by the indigenes , you have to satisfy your wicked conscience that what the Nigerian state is doing is ok... May the same Evil you wish others befall you!! |
A lot of deranged people with access to the Internet, what a pity |
Usually in sane countries, people would ask for the heads of the regulatory agencies who failed to protect the people...but in nigeria the sitting governor uses the opportunity to whip up ethnic sentiments. Before he brought brt busses to lagos...molues were killing people falling into the rivers, etc...such statements did not come from the governor.. The governor has forgotten that the unfortunate event was allowed to happen because one or two of his agencies have failed in their responsibilities.... Anyhow it's always easier to blame than to act |
Sagamite: Most of the trillions went into the bank accounts of Odili and Ibori. What does the senseless statement mean? Did delta and rivers people impose these govs on themselves....or you now agree that PDP have been conducting free and fair elections...? |
Don't pay anything to anybody...why must we pay to states or lgas or communities? Why not allow the people who own this oil mine it, sell it and pay taxes like any normal person, this national pastime of wanting to manage oil for the resource owners and pay them for it, is the evil that is affecting us....why does nigeria not help people manage their fertile farmland and pay the states or communities for it... A number of us have decided that its oil or nothing, unfortunately his are in he majority, but as long as you have denied the people who should be the primary beneficiaries of their benefits, nigeria is unlikely to know peace or progress. |
A-ZeD:What r you talking about bro? Do you even know why we need a constitution ? If you answer this question then you would appreciate why this comment falls very short . |
larride: I agree that change doesn't occur over night but our mindset must change first if we will be able to process that change. A case in study is when Gov. Fash was demolishing houses that where built on the road side, in drainage, everyone was shouting against him that he doesn't care about the masses but if he doesn't demolish those houses and there's an accident, they will be the first to lay blame on the government. When he prohibit okada riders in some certain roads, a lot of people still shout and complain that he doesn't care about the masses but if there's any accident concerning these okada riders, we are still going to blame the government, to sanitize the nation and move forward some harsh decisions needs to be made unless there will be no development. We need to start looking/thinking outside the box, to change the status quo, our mindset must change, our attitude towards the nation must change, our determination must change, we must work together as one body, the consitution isn't going to do all that for us but moral values will. I'm for amending the constitution and also changing our mindset about as people of this great nation. You have contradicted yourself here... People's attitude will only change when there is reason to change, such as a change in laws or systems, an example you gave above is the demolition of houses or banning of okada, else people will continue in that same state... Looking at the bigger picture of nigeria, it is clear that as long as the system is built around sharing of free oil to states by the all powerful FG, laziness and corruption will be the prevailing attitude of Nigerians. |
0lumide: The man actually meant that, even if we have a Qaddafi without freedom of speech etc.., We can still have a Libya with a $25b water project that supplies constant water to 80% of people in a desert, we can have a Libya where everyone has a house, we can have a Libya where if you want to school in Harvard, it's free with pocket money, We can have a Libya where if you want to farm, you get land, seeds for free and you get 0% loan to expand and if you fail, the govt will reward you for trying, we can have a Libya where the unemployed are paid till they get jobs.If there is anything I think Nigerians need to change in their thinking, I think it's this belief in freebies being dished out by the federal government. Libya is the population of delta state with much more oil than nigeria... But if you insist on using Libya as an example, lets answer this question, did the Libya people decide to change as once ( which is impossible) or did gadaffi come to power and change the system of doing things. |
kingoflag: ROFLMAOOOOOOWhich is a greater problem to you.. Bentleys by govt officials or lack of a real economy? |
Some ladies on this thread feel the need to mention that they still have lots of guys chasing them...but they missed the point raised by the OP...which is that guys no longer spend weeks/months or even years chasing a girl. |
Demdem: The real reason why it wont work while its a good idea. As long as Aso Rock is filled with imported cars for the use of the retardeen, asking MDAs to do the same is pure talk. That lies my argument and that is the basis of my first post dumb. The retardeen must learn to lead by example.Blind haterade will not allow rational thoughts flow through your head... |
faithin9ja: What utter rubbish.Just wondering if it is possible to have the two in one country! |
utumunta: I hope ds is aimed at securing a place 4 Mikel @ d AFCON 2013 cos d youngman nid 2 check wt 'd boss' 1st.Seconded |
nep2ra: I say welldone to the FG for this development. However, I advice that rail transportation should be left to the private sector to run while the FG should only be involved in setting out policies and regulating the operation of this sector. History has proved that the FG is not capable of handling rail transport effectively and efficiently. My 2 kobo. Please this is the only route to go, anything else will fail.. |
if men should see women as equal, why pursue them? abeg jo! |
kokoye: If you spend your valuable time chasing a woman in this day and age, you will obviously be a poor man - and the girl will not give you face...then she'll call you a stalker.Very logical...chase money not girls |
1920MaMa: you mean you expect a guy to pursue a lady for 1yr in this generation where 7 women are holding unto one man to marry them? if you see a man that has all the qualities you desire in a man, why play hard to get? wat if you loose him in the process? on the other hand, if a guy does not meet your standard, why waste his time? until we realize that not all relationships must end in marriage, we still have a long way to go, relationship-wise.This post is so sensible |
0lumide: What do I know? Another cluelessness..I tot pole from SW have education? Why is logical deduction so difficult ? Why can't you see the lines between subsidy and corruption? If there is no subsidy, then here will be no stealing of subsidy funds If there is no subsidy then here will be private investments in the sector...leading to jobs, net exportation of refined products and overall improvement of the economy. Sharpen up abeg |
www.thenational.ae/thenationalconversation/industry-insights/economics/sudan-faces-severe-economic-crisis Just saw this piece on what Sudan is going through since South Sudan left the union, notice the part of the story where the government has started cutting free subsidies that was previously been issued with free oil money... I believe Nigeria is not very far from this Sudan face economic crisis |
omenka: It realy infuriates me when I hear these south southerners tlk about 'its our OIL MONEY'. During my youth service year in warri, I came across some quite magnanimous and hardworkin deltans, like those who, when driving and they come across a corper, would pull over to offer u a ride even without flaggin them down. That much we appreciated. The educated few are realy likeable and resourceful. But the average southsoutherner is uneducated and LAZY to the bone! All they do is sit around all day, smoke weed, drink 'mukite' and discuss 'bunkering mata', or how to pull off the next scam. The little they make from their retinue of illicit dealings, they expend on whores and the next high!A very backward and shallow human being |
0lumide: You know it's economically not wise to privatize the oil sector? The money to be made from proper state management is like 1mil% more than having it privatized. It means more money for the people and not individuals. And I said state government should manage their resources in respective states not Federal if you fear Buhari wants your oil money because he is a Northerner.Yes its about Buhari and why we feel he can't lead...SE and SS say 100% no to him, SW give him 50%, NC give him 20%, (I am being generous here)..Core north give him 70%...he still wont win... But asides that, how is he going to rule is the other key question we are asking....we know fully well that he, like you plans to sit on the oil wealth and pretend to fight the syntom of corruption... There are those of us shouting on this forum that the heavy corruption is a symptom of a system that encourages laziness, while you feel corruption is the root cause. The average human being is corrupt..hence systems or conditions that encourage its growth should be done away with... You keep claiming that I am taking this debate to oil wealth....but really why do you think everyone wants to get to the center? Guy the beautiful ones are not yet born(i.e those who would push the country in a direction were hardwork and creativity leading to wealth generation are not here yet) There is absolutely no way you can tell me that government can ever run the oil sector more efficiently than the private sector and those who own the land. |
Sincere 9gerian: Op..,Sorry, I cant fall FOOLISHLY for another SUPER STORY of an anti-corruption czar. The party of your hero(Buhari), the CPC has been in charge of Nasarawa state for almost 2yrs now, but how far has the party transformed the state? How far with the CPC members in the NASS? Can 'SAINT' Buhari prevail on them to protest against the MONSTROUS pay in the NASS? Is he not the leader of the party? It is only FOOLS that will buy Buhari's SUPER STORY that he will fight corruption to a stand still. Buhari should rather tell us his MASTER PLAN to solving our problems- unstable electric power, unemployment, infrastructures, etc. Is he going to reverse PHCN privatisation? How does he intend to create jobs? Is it by employing more people in the public sector? In addition, he should tell us the infrastructures he built during his first missionary journey(1983-85). These are the ISSUES I care about and that can convince me to vote for Buhari. I'm not too bothered about the fake outcry of corruption by those outside of govt. The ROOT CAUSE of corruption in Nigeria is the SHARING OF FREE OIL MONEY. Right from the Nzeogwu coup, the reason for wanting to replace a sitting govt has ALWAYS been allegation of corruption and how those outside govt would fight corruption to standstill if given opportunity. But somehow, we ended up WORSE OFF with successive govt. The Buhari SUPER STORY of how he would fight corruption to a standstill is not any different from the SUPER STORY of how Nzeogwu and co would have fought corruption to standstill in Jan 1966- which was why they said they struck. Only FOOLS will be carried away by such SUPER but SILLY STORIES. As for me, I have grown WISER with age. What matters to me in this current dispensation is not an INTANGIBLE fight against corruption. Rather, what matters to me are TANGIBLES like- the power sector reforms to guarantee stable power supply, construction of power plants, construction of highways, construction of power transmission and distribution facilities, construction of new higher institutions, equipping of hospitals, building of 2nd Niger bridge, etc, etc. These are the TANGIBLES that I care about. There can NEVER be any all out and EFFECTIVE fight against corruption because the ROOT CAUSE of corruption in Nig is FREE oil money. Go and ask the likes of Oby Ezekwesili so they can tell you about the CURSE OF OIL. Shagari's govt was toppled for alleged corruption but with benefit of hindsight we can now see clearly that successive govts after Shagari were MONSTERS in terms of corruption. Shagari and Ekwueme today lives in a very humble apartment and can never muster the funds to contemplate contesting an election. But we cannot say same of Buhari, IBB, or even Abacha. If Buhari will promise to turn-off the tap of oil, then I can take his anti-corruption stance SERIOUSLY. Otherwise, i see him as a cunny man who wants to REPLACE those currently presiding over sharing of FREE Niger delta and Igbo oil moneyYou have said it all..free oil money...get ride of it and solve 80percent of the probkems |

0lumide: Thank you and you think who can do this? Uncle Joe? Abubakar Salami? Fashola? Tinubu? Orji Uzor? Atiku? El Rufai? Abeg now... Let your sentiments die and you will see that to get corruption out the way, we need someone who can boast of zero records on corruption.Evn if pep can't do it, I can assure you that a Tribal setup of Buhari bent on sharing oil money will never do them. Majority of the PTF projects were located in the north, hope you can remember this Why do you hunk IMF is wrong? That the government should cut spending and welfarism....how is that wrong? |
0lumide: Not federal government. State governments can control their resources with 90% of profit coming back to the people simple! Investors can keep the 10% Privatization means we sell our resources at auction price and let the highest bidder spend the profit anywhere he or she wants which is why the Niger Delta you claim to be fighting for is in deep shiit! This is the logic I don't get, why should he state government be running any business at all? Isn't it enuf for them to sit back and watch the effect of the policies to generate wealth? You say I am turning his into SW vs oil, but see what impact your desires are having on the populace, if I have arable land as a resource, I am allowed to farm and pay tax to government, what can some one with oil or gold on his land do he same? If you want me out of your thread, remove it from nairaland simple |

0lumide: I don't think votes of people like you matters for him to win or notI don't care what you like or don't like, exercise your right to respond to whomever you please and I will do same... I said Islamist look up to Buhari , weather he denounces them or not, Islamist don't look to Atiku for inspiration. |
0lumide: We need to get corruption out the way for anything you listed to be possible. Our first step towards a better Nigeria is elimination of corruption 100%. Any president will fail in this current construct of our national leadership. Our first step is to get ride of the system that encourages corruption and laziness, stop sharing money to states and lgas, states must work hard to be productive and generate revenue, no food for lazy man, federal government must be funded by all the states. Allow private business concerns to run all your business and majority of your infrastructure while government concentrat on regulation and policy making.. This will reduce corruption |
0lumide: There will be national jubilation when IBB the man who overthrew Buhari is shot. You see how illogical your point is?Nigerian were so happy to get ride of him, they would have welcomed satan as president, that's how bad it was...hope you get the point now |
0lumide: Buhari will be more government owned shares (90%) in core sectors privatization is looting a sin in a democracy because it concentrates resources in the hands of a few. Until our Economy is fully mature, we are not ready for privatization just yet.I don't believe what my eyes are seeing here, so because you don't want resources to be concentrated in he hands of a few, we get the federal government to run everything, you really need Buhari as your president, when will nigeria ever be ready for full blown privatization? What do you mean by core sectors? So people in lagos and SW will be free to exploit their arable land and other resources while the oil in he nigerdelta will be classified as core so the Buhari and his mongrels will continue what they have been doing since 1966? |
