0lumide: When you say middle belt, which states won't vote for him in middle belt so we can check who they voted for in the 2011 elections. Don't generalize with sentiments.

Did he tell people to go out and fight? Did he tell them to go and kill people? People got mad because election got rigged and I bet you those folks in the creeks would have done worst if Jonathan wasn't declared winner.

73 or 80 can he perform? His track records are still there for all to see and judge. I read his track record and believe the best option Nigeria can have is him for now!

You your self said if Fashola can be redeemed from Tinubu. How about someone that doesn't need redemption and owes no one a political favour? Do you love Nigeria, do you want her to survive? Another tenure of corruption in any sector of Nigeria is the end!
There was a national jubilation when Buhari was over thrown..check that

Bihari is now a reference point for Islamist in this country, they look to him as a source of inspiration, he may not actively encourage them but imagine the belief and renewed vigor the Islamist would get if Buhari becomes president.

Secondly, lets ask ourselves how Buhari has run his party? How well and efficiently has he run a democratic institution? How well has he built a consensus amongst its leaders? Has he been able to build a party that attracts Nigerians with sterling leadership qualities, how have the CPc controlled lgas and states fared? Have they started casting wealth? Or still depending like leaches on Niger delta ol money?

Please I don't want to talk further cos I am getting really pissed

Gbawe: Apart from even seeing anyone jailed, have we seen GEJ, when he fully can any second, bring an end to practices that perpetuate graft and keep the 'free-for-all' looting of Nigeria thriving?

Why do we still sell oil through traders?

What is any sane person to make of how the FG and the NNPC issued fuel marketers licence to many, many, many fraudsters and start-up company with no capacity or competence to engage in fuel importation? What manner of screening was the FG and NNPC conducting to the extent so many dodgy blokes and dames virtually quadrupled the number of marketers existing to scam the nation blind?

Why do we use marketers to import fuel when a top member of GEJ's economic team (Otedola) actually stated that we should be beyond that and should enter into direct negotiation with foreign refineries?

Why hand over our refineries into the ultra-corrupt hands of the NNPC, for 24 months, when that move , of all the options, is the one that predictably only guarantees failure?

Everywhere you look, it is 'more of the same' from this woeful President. Really nauseating to see that ethnic jingoism has made many Nigerians very dishonest. Like I said earlier, we all have our bias but what no one should engage in is the support of what is outrightly wrong. What are we to make of a President who has the power to totally change things yet persist in keeping things the way they are to the detriment of Nigeria? Why will Nigeria not be looted blind under GEJ when he is a President who, with his many actions and inactions, opens the door for the thieves to enter?
Y not we try a free market system with regards to this oil self? allow the owners of the oil to mine and sell at market prices, those into refining will then buy at market prices and then sell to cnsumers at market prices?
Has it occured to any of us, that the reason for the curruption and the complaining and anguish is that the government participating in a ventuyre that can be carried out by everyday nigerian?

PoliticsRe: The 'diezani Bill' Advert Scam by DaLover(m): 7:50pm On Nov 25, 2012
take dat: I think what should be of utmost importance is the expeditious passage of the bill. Though Diezani is an incompetent minister going by the massive fraud we have witnessed in her era as the petroleum minister. Whatever title or nomenclature the bill carries is inconsequential going by the fact that the PIB when passed into law will outlive her stay as the petroleum minister!

Btw, how would an advert quicken the passage of the PIB? This is an attempt at grandstanding and wastage of tax payers fund. What I was expecting from the ministry is creating awareness by circulating the detailed bill so that Nigerians will be informed of the advantages of the proposed bill
#PassthePIBnow#
I rather think that you are an incompetent follower of issues, just because fraud going on for years was exposed in her time, does that mean she is responsible?
Instead of thanking her for bring it to public knowledge and giving nigerias a chance to have a say...you want to shame her because of what she did?

General Garicks: I personally had reservations on that concession agreement. Do you know how many billions Bi-courtney needs to raise to fix that roadhuh Would they be able; which bank will finance it; how will they repay the interest on a long term loan like that whose money will be recouped over 25years(not days) huh Coupled with the fact that Nigerians hate toll gates on roads.

On the other hand when you havent handled projects with ministries you wont understand the miriads of frustrations such contractor could go through in the hands of ministry officials. A contractor handling a particular FG project is owing me for 6months now. A contract that was awarded to him at a cost of about N200m has been 75% completed yet the officials at the ministry in charge have disbursed only N55m. For the past 4months now, weeds have overgrown the site. Nigerian officials are inherently corrupt.
If Nigerians hate paying tolls, then they should hate good roads also...I would rather pay tolls on clean surface roads that spend money and time repairing my car that has been damaged by bad roads

How Lam prevented second civil war in Nigeria

Sunday, November 18, 2012

By KEHINDE OLAOSEBIKAN

Alhaji Lam Onaolapo Adesina, Oyo State Governor from May 29, 1999 to May 29, 2003, passed onto glory peacefully on Sunday, November 11,2012, after over 73 years of a very successful sojourn on earth. Alhaji Lam rose to the pinnacle of all his callings in life. He got to the zenith of his career as a teacher. As a social crusader, he got state recognition and was tagged 'prisoner of war'; and politically, he did not only realize his ambition of becoming the governor of his state, he achieved the extra-ordinary by installing a governor, not while in power but eight years after he had left office. Since Sunday, torrents of tributes have been pouring in from various quarters, all extolling the virtues of Alhaji Lam Adesina .

He has been described in many superlative words, establishing the fact that Alhaji Lam was a great man. But how great really was the husband of the benign Alhaja Sarat Adeola Adesina? As his Chief Press Secretary while he served as the Governor of Oyo State, I will transmit a story of how the former governor tamed a former Military Head of State and prevented what could have led to the Nigerian second civil war. It was on October 13, 2000, when words went round that General Muhammadu Buhari was leading the Arewa team to the governor's office to confront the state over alleged killing of Fulani herdsmen in Saki, Oke Ogun area of the state. General Buhari did actually telephone the governor that he was leading a team to his office. In less than 30 minutes after the General informed the governor of his visit, we noticed that the entire secretariat was already filled with lorry loads of our brothers from the North.

This created some tension but we kept our calm. At about 2pm, General Buhari arrived in a long convoy at the Governor's office in company with the former Governor of Lagos State, General Buba Marwa, Alhaji Aliko Muhammed, Alhaji Abdulrazak , Alhaji Hassan and some others. They all wore long faces. In fact, the anger and venom in them was very palpable as all pleasantries extended to them were largely shunned. "This is trouble", was the expression on the faces of all of us in the Governor's office. Shortly afterwards, the Director of State Security Service (SSS) and Commissioner of Police arrived. But their presence did not change anything particular on the fears that had gripped majority of us.

The two security chiefs did not come with troops; they came almost alone. The meeting was called to order after Alhaji Lam serenely walked into the Executive Chambers in his well-embroidered multi-colour lace. Introductions over, General Buhari spoke of his mission to the governor's office. Emitting fire, the General accused the governor and the government of Oyo State of complicity in the killings of over 68 Fulani people in Oke Ogun area and perversion of justice. His words: "Your Excellency, our arrival here is to discuss with you and your government our displeasure about the incident of clashes between two peoples... the Fulani herdsmen and merchants are today being harassed, attacked and killed like in any war in Saki.

In May, 2000, 68 bodies of Fulani herdsmen were recovered and buried under the supervision and protection from a team of Mobile Police from Oyo State Command. " That some arrests were made by the State Police Command in the massacre with their immediate release without court trial was said to be ordered by Oyo State authorities and they were so released to their amazements. Then, consequently, the mass release of the arrested suspects gave the clear impression that the authority was backing and protecting them to continue the unjust and illegal killings of Fulani herdsmen..." According to the General, they wanted immediate stoppage of the killings, justice and compensation for the mass killing of the Fulani.

As weighty and indicting the General's allegations were against the governor, Alhaji Lam Adesina remained unperturbed as he only fired back with his own well- coordinated arsenal in form of robust explanations and engagements. Alahji Adesina identified all the points raised by the General and simply asked the heads of the organizations directly involved to respond to the allegations. First to speak was the Commissioner of Police who debunked all the claims made by the General. Instead of the allegation by the General that the natives killed the Fulani, the Police commissioner said pointedly that the opposite was the case. " The killings of the natives by the Fulani were duly reported to the police and of course, we could not make arrests because as soon as they kill, they migrate to other areas.

Who are you going to arrest? So that is the problem". On the contrary, on the killings of the Fulani which he said, was as result of "piled up anger", the commissioner disclosed that arrests had been made and the suspects still in police custody. Next was the Director of Security Service who equally tore all of General Buhari's claims to shreds. "The natives don't have problem with the Fulani who are residents but those who come in. They don't care for anybody. They just go ahead and when they graze farms, whoever cares to challenge them runs into trouble. You said 68 people were killed, and people driven away. I am not saying there were no killings but it cannot be more than five.

The petition was on the harsh side; there was nothing like that." Not done yet, Governor Adesina called in his Deputy, Barrister Iyiola Oladokun; and his SSG, Chief Michael Koleoso, both from Oke Ogun and the Chairman of the local government of one of the affected areas, Mr Ademola Alalade. They stated the true position of things in the area, corroborating the submissions of the security chiefs. At this point, all the tension and apprehensions evaporated. Trust Lam any day! He must rub it in. He spoke for about 20 minutes and the Generals were at the edges of their seats for the entire period.

They were like chickens that have just been thoroughly beaten by the rain. Lam Adesina said: " Before I thank you for this visit, you have come to tell me something, I also want to tell you something and that is to make an appeal. General Buhari is a former Head of State, Brigadier Marwa governed Lagos for some time and with credibility.... So, you are national leaders of this country. Even though by accident of birth, you are from the North, so you can be born anywhere, may be next time when I am coming to the world I will be born in the North or the South South. My appeal will be that effort must be made to unite this country and that will be to the best interest of all Nigerians.

I am appealing to the Arewa Consultative Forum under which auspices our distinguished Nigerians are here. In recent times, they have been sending wrong signals to a number of us who believe in the unity and peace of Nigeria. You have been too critical of the efforts of the federal government. I am saying this because Nigeria at this point cannot afford to break and the words you northern leaders utter are very weighty. In the South here, we normally analyze them critically." On all the allegations, Alhaji Lam Adesina said: "From what they have written in the petition, this government is completely blameless because we don't interfere either with the judiciary or with the police functions.

I always converse peaceful co-existence, living in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. We are all Nigerians and that is what we have been preaching all along and we shall continue to be Nigerians , no matter the present or immediate problems which will be solved by the grace of Allah. I want to say also that we really have to appeal to our people, the itinerant Bororo people that they should be less aggressive. It is not good, it is not right; coming from somewhere, then, you just pass through farm lands cultivated may be with the person's life savings and then overnight, everything is gone. That is not right, even Allah does not approve of that. We even wonder when they talk about this people carrying dangerous weapons

. I ask, do they really believe in Allah? When you just take life like that and go away! Are we not forbidden not to take human life? So, I think General Buhari, General Marwa, you have to educate them.... "It is my pleasure to inform you that at the Presidential Lodge, we have made some arrangements for refreshments so that before you go, we can refresh together." General Buhari and his team did not wait for any refreshments. ADIEU! GREAT LAM! *Agba Akin Kehinde Olaosebikan was Chief Press Secretary to Alhaji Lam Adesina (1999 - 2003).
And some people spend their days and night advocating for this tribal bigot!
God Forbid!

Hi George D,
Thanks for throwing more light on the hybrid charging for both solar and inverter,
But I think I know the reason why the Sukam and the cyberpower stop charging at 85%,

It's the same reason I believe inverters like zantrex and other higher end models of inverters may charge up to 100%.

The morning star charge regulator uses a thin sensing cable to determine exact battery voltage as against the sukam or cyberpower that measures the battery voltage through the battery charging cables which carry current...since the cable is carrying current, it means there is a voltage drop across the cable, hence the voltage measured at the inverter terminals is higher than what is actually on the battery..I.e when the inverter sees the battery as 100% and stops charging, the batteries voltages are actually less.

The thin sensing cable employed by the morning start ensures the morning start see the true voltage of the battery because it carries no current and hence no voltage drop.

I was at the SPDC fair in ph yesterday and an inverter sales guy there says zantrex, magnum etc have the sensing cables, but they are damn expensive...just imagine a 6kva zantrex for 900k

George_D: hello dalover,
your questions are rather a curios one but i'll try and see how i can navigate through them:

1) the cyberpower was not the sole reason for this mode of installation. i happen to have stumbled upon a better way of stringing parallel battery banks so they can ahve the same amount of charge current at all times, hence the reason for the setup.

2) i'm not one to broadcast prices of renewables on the internet as i realize these prices change with time. what i can do rather is to refer you to my supply sources so you can discuss with them first hand. i neither sell nor stock these items.

3) the 200w panels were the ones available at the time hence i had to do with what i have. there's nothing stopping me from adding higher wattage panels up to 300w provided they're of the specs as the ones already installed.

4) the charge controller and inverter charging systems work hand in hand so there can be no conflict. for a hybrid system which is what my installation is, the two will always complement each other.
Thanks for the response George and the good works so far and sorry the questions sounded strange, I really want to implement a hybrid system by this end month so I am gathering as much info as I can. I am looking at a 16 batteries of 190ah each, a 5 kva inverter and 8 panels of 300watt each, hence the questions.

1) Please i would really like to know about the optimal parallel connections for the 4 banks you have, previously I was leaning towards more serial connections of 2 banks of 8 battries, because of higher voltage/less current draw and the fact that banks with less internal resistance act as load for other banks during discharge. I also discovered that the cyberpower inverter claims a charging current of 45Amps @ 48volts as against sukam's claim of 20Amps @ 48 to 96volts

2) & 3) please kindly help me with your suppliers contacts, cos |I am being offered =N=450 per watt for the 300watts panel, and I think its quite high

4) Ok, on the hand in hand working of the charge controller and the inverter...I just was hoping that this would be explicily stated in any of the two products

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by DaLover(m): 6:09pm On Oct 14, 2012
George_D: welcome to the new:
Hi George please would like to ask some questions on your installation
1- I noticed you set up your batteries in three banks of 48volts each, was the cyber power inverter the sole reason you did this?
2- how much do the 260ah batteries go for?
3- why did you limit the solar panels to 200watts? How much per unit? How much does your supplier sell the one of say 300watts, if it exist
4- I went through the manual on the morning star regulator, I observed it provides a lot of conditioning to the batteries like equalization and the rest, wouldn't this capabilities be reduced by connecting the solar regulator in parallel with the output from the inverter, that probably has its own battery conditioning algorithm ? Did you consider feeding the output of the inverter into the solar regulator? If so, what were your reasons against it?

Thanks in anticipation of your response

Desola: I agree with you almost whole-heartedly but giving the ethnocentric nature of Nigeria and the ibos antecedents in the governance of Nigerian, I would not touch T.A Orji with the longest pole. The representations you have made on his behalf are of course valid but if such policy of restructuring the state and governance of Nigeria is held by another candidate who is of another ethnic stock aside ibo, I would gladly cast my vote for him/her.

You also make good points about where Fashola's strengths lie. It is a tall dream but I hope that sooner rather than later, Nigeria would go the route of regional government or disintegration where we would then have Fashola at the helm of our affairs. His expertise in my opinion is second to none.
It pretty obvious that Igbo and Yoruba can never get along, the level of rivalry is just to high

Malcolm-X:
Money from crude oil export:

Brent crude = $114.67 per barrel

Nigeria exports = approx. 2.5million barrels a day.

A year = 2.5 x 365 = 912.5million barrels annually

912.5 x 114.67 = $105billion

Where do they keep this money?
So where do they really keep the money....lets try and see

Actual bench mark cost of crude is usually between $70 to $80 (every sale above is kept in SWF).
So
2.5million barrels a day X $75 X 365days = $68billion per annum
Assume we don't remove cost of production, profit for the IOC's (between $10 and $15billion)

The FG total budget is usually around $30 billion per annum.
The 36 states take roughly $1billion per annum each or $36 billion in total

We are already looking at $66billion

That's where the money goes

I don't discuss the nonsense of a presidential material or not that seems to be of interest to you. It's a fcking waste of time. I discuss manifestos, simple and clear. That Fasola is successful in Lagos does not suggest, even remotely, that he ll shine at national level. It has nothing to do with his ability. How many roads can he build in Nigeria within two years that will make us happy? How many Health centres etc? That's not our problem.Nigeria's problem is completely different from that of Lagos.

Our problem is the system of government we run in Nigeria. It makes states lazy, governors greedy and looters, the masses poor. If you put Bill Clinton, the acclaimed Mr Performer in Nigeria presidency, he will fail flatly except he begins by restructuring Nigeria to a workable federation. Nigeria problems do not demand competence, they demand men of uncommon courage that can forgo momentary sweetness of power, confront the conservative and clannish elite and return Nigeria to true federalism. If you are good but lack courage, you simply can't do the job. If you restructure Nigeria and then have folks like Fasola, all well and good.

Hear me loud and clear: I am saying if T.A Orji is campaigning on restructuring Nigeria but Fasola is mouthing road construction, electricity generation nonsense, T.A Orji simply becomes my candidate.

As regards your rantings on tribalism, here is my love letter to you: who is fcking not a tribalist in Nigeria? Remember you did not attack Bashr8 for visiting toxic, wicked and satanic vituperation on Ikengawo for merely voicing his opinion but you chose to attack me for no other reason than responding to Bashr8 in cash and kind.

Prof Corruption: Ha ha ha ha shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

am I supposed to be surprised? Not a bit! You don't get it.

The challenge with nigeria is more about the system than with individuals, of course those benefiting from the current situation will never see it that way
