Danka7777: Go get their own what? What do you mean? Late Ojukwu was a useless man who married a young woman and ultimately destroyed a beautiful family. Look at all his children, very educated; Doctors, Lawyer, Engr., Arch., and many more. What could any man ask for from a family? You think they couldn't fed for themselves? Do you think getting these degrees in the U.S is a cake walk? You think they are stu$pid. Can you understand what is called: Family wealth continuation? If you never came from a wealthy family, you have no idea or sense of what I am talking about. It's like telling Kola Abiola or Paddy Adenuga to get his own because his Dad, Mike Adenuga or M.K.O Abiola foolishly married a young woman, close to being her daughter and who is bent on taking over everything? Well, for the record, Abiola did marry a lot of wives but Kola acted fast and rescued the family from shame and today continued the family wealth. Any son or rather children, who are sensible, responsible and reasonable will fight for every wealth of the family to maintain family wealth continuation.

If you are not close to this family or don't know his children personally, then you have no right to speak on this. We, who know this family personally shall continue to speak. These are lovely children who were so focused on making the family proud and continuing the legacy of their late grandfather, the patriarch of the family not Ojukwu. These children are still angry their dad, Ojukwu uselessly squandered the wealth of their Grandfather, Ojukwu's dad, Late Louis Ojukwu(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Odumegwu_Ojukwu)who was inarguably one of the richest men in West Africa then. These children are still in shock as to what happened to their grandfather's wealth. Sources have it that the properties they are fighting over was purchased with wealth from Louis Ojukwu. Why Ojukwu was sick, she(Bianca) constantly denied his children access to him, and even so while he was alive.

Please, I urge you all: before you speak ill of these children, go and find out what happened in that family. These children are in pain, pain caused by the stup$idy of their father, all in the name of having a young beautiful flower at the expense of his children and his first wife. Couldn't he have kept her as a mistress and allow is first wife and children to live in peace?
Those u are calling Doctors, Engrs,Archs are not his children but his brothers. The properties in question belong to their late father Loius. Emeka used his power and position to wrest the properties to himself, now that he is no more the family want the properties back but Bianca want to continue to assert the powers of late Emeka. Can she fight the family? We are watching.
The interpretation of what you said is as follows. Ojukwu inherited properties from his father, he died, and now his brothers and sisters want to bully and intimidate his widow into relinquishing the estate of her late husband.

These people are cowards. I am sure they did not have the temerity to try the nonsense they are trying now when Ikemba was alive. If they had any legitimate claim to the property, they had a VERY LONG TIME to settle it when Ikemba was alive.

The last time I checked Ikemba had a will. We should wait for the will to be read. If Ikemba willed these properties to his wife then these people should let the woman be. It amazes me how Nigerians resort to tradition when they are on the wrong side of the moral equation.

I have seen many dumb posts on nairaland but this is a new low. This is by far the worst post I have ever seen on nairaland. I was fortunate enough to grow up with some Igbo people and I can say unequivocally that most Igbo people do not think like you. Most Igbo people simply want a chance to live peaceful lives. They want to start businesses and trade goods and services without being harassed; they want to have an equal chance of getting a job that they are qualified for; they want their children to have a better life than they had; and they want to retire with dignity and respect. The list goes on and on. Like most Nigerians, the Igbo people I meet want good roads, good schools, and good hospitals. You are an ignorant bigot and you should be ashamed of yourself. I refuse to believe that most Igbo people think like you.

stagger: My friend stop talking rubbish. These are properties owned by the late Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu which were seized by the Federal Government after the civil war and only returned in the 90s. Professor Ojukwu is the first born in that family and it is simply unthinkable that the Ikemba would now usurp the authority of the first-born of that family to decide who would manage what.

There is a popular accounting firm that has been in trust of the late Sir Louis's properties. Bianca therefore has no right to determine how properties that belonged to her husband's father are shared, especially when he is not the firstborn.

I am not Igbo but I believe in Igbo culture, it is the firstborns who are given the right of inheritance in a family.
Nigeria needs to move away from this first born/ first son syndrome. Life is more complicated than that. Ojukwu has a widow and he has young children with that widow who are still in school. The interest of his widow and his young children should come first. I have seen this scenario happen so many times when children gang up and intimidate their step mother after their father dies. It is not fair. The last time I checked the late Ikemba had a will. Let us wait for the will to be read. Hopefully, he made the right decision to make sure that his widow is cared for as well as his young children.

Danka7777: 99.99999999999999% of all Ojukwu's properties were inherited from his late billionaire father, Louis Ojukwu: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Odumegwu_Ojukwu

Ojukwu never own anything through out his existence. Let's be realistic here: Name me one established business owned by Ojukwu while he was alive? Name me one, just one? I can assure you: you will not come up with one. Why? All he had was from his Billionaire father. And his children want a piece of that too? Is there anything wrong with that?
My friend, the last time I checked the late Ikemba had a will. Let us wait for the will to be read. It is very common for Nigerian children to try and intimidate their late fathers wife especially when that wife is not their mother. We must remember that Ikemba has a widow who has very young children who are still in school. In my honest opinion, the interest of his widow and his young children should come first.

Folks, the highest currency denomination in Nigeria is an equivalent of $6. That is not good. Even in the US, there are $10, $20, $50, and $100 bills. Yes we need to fight inflation, yes we need to increase our export earnings, and yes we need to make the naira stronger. However, we still need a larger denomination to make trade more convenient.

Obama is full of talk? I guess preventing a great depression by saving the finance industry is talk. I guess saving the auto industry; providing millions of poor people with healthcare; ending the war in Iraq; and killing Bin Laden is talk.

My friend, Mitt Romney is not a good alternative to Obama. The man has changed political positions so many times that it is either he has no convictions or he is a pathological liar. When he was governor of Massacheusettes, the state ranked 47th in job growth. At the end of his term as governor, his approval rating was so low that he refused to run for reelection because he knew that he would have lost.

kingoflag: Riiiiggggghhhhtttt..... Like the Elections happened 50 years ago and everyone who lived through it is now dead or has amnesia. You're talking about the same Buhari that GEJ and co were censoring his campaign ads and making sure he didn't get to the masses through the media? Or the Buhari that GEJ was looking for a way to rope in and proclaim a terrorist like he did Dokpesi and IBB? Truth is GEJ was at fault from jump. From playing "Tag" and "Chicken" with his foes while using Bombs as toys to the disseminating of false info against his adversaries.....

Why don't we ask Buhari to make a speech on the Justice Salami case too? Or the N2Trillion that has mysteriously disappeared from the treasury? Or the $30000/day meals GEJ allocated himself?

Nigerians, face the truth, your President is a pretentious, manipulative, divisive and evil man. If you doubt me, lets ask Henry Okah and Gen.Patrick Azazi what they think of him and his role in the bombings that has brought Nigeria to its knees.
Your points are very legitimate. I am only saying that Buhari should have at least made such a request. If Jonathan denied such a public request from Buhari, no one would blame Buhari for not speaking loud enough against the violence. Also, Buhari could have scored some easy political points.

Some people were busy popping champagne in Abuja and others were fighting over themselves to congratulate the champagne poppers, while innocent people were being killed for over 3 days. Where were the policemen and d soldiers??

Politics › Re: Buhari To Northern Governors: Tackle Boko-haram Insecurity by danjohn:
I am a Buhari supporter but I still believe that Buhari has not handled the situation of violence in the North well enough. I think the reason is because Buhari is surrounded by HORRIBLE political operatives. Buhari has the worst political staff in the world. Whoever managed his campaign in 2011 needs to be sued for political malpractice. After the 2011 election, when the violence broke out in the North, Buhari had an opportunity to rehabilitate his public perception but he squandered it.

When violence broke out in the North after the election, nobody could talk to the angry almajiris who were killing youth corpers, Jonathan could not talk to them, neither could Sambo, or even the Sultan of Sokoto. Everybody was calling for Buhari to calm down his supporters. Everybody was asking "WHERE IS BUHARI?" But what did Buhari do, he had an interview with BBC where he said didnt support the violence. I was like "what the f*ck?" How many Nigerians watch BBC?

Rham Emmanuel, the mayor of Chicago, once said that "we should never let a crisis go to waste." Leaders emerge during a crisis. In my honest opinion, after violence broke out in 2011, Buhari should have requested for a 30 minutes timeslot to give a national address at 8:30 pm right before network news. Given how tense the situation was in the country, nobody would have denied him such a request.

He should have stood in front of 5 Nigerian Flags and with a very somber voice; he should have said something along the lines of the following:

"My fellow citizens, I speak to you tonight, not as the Presidential candidate of the CPC, but as a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. What we have seen happen in the last 24 hours has been heartbreaking. We have seen husbands lose wives, fathers lose sons, mothers lose daughters, and brothers lose sisters. We have heard stories of pastors who watched their churches burn, traders who abandoned their goods and fled with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and mothers of youth corpers who stay awake every night wondering whether their children will return home from the North alive. As a father, grandfather, and husband, I empathize with every individual who has lost a loved one in this crisis.

When I decided to run for President, I did so because I was called by my faith, my upbringing, and my love for this country to do everything within my capacity to make Nigeria great again.

During the campaign, I was touched by the millions of people who rallied around our cause. I was touched by the stories I heard from people who made personal sacrifices simply because they believed in the ideals which gave birth to this campaign. Unfortunately, despite our best effort, our quest to win the Presidency did not succeed.

I would like to use this opportunity to call on every Nigerian who supported our campaign to join hands with the current administration to help move our beloved country forward. I would like to call on all of my supporters, who have taken up arms to express their grievances, to put their weapons away.

At the end of the day, we must remember that our campaign for President was a cause driven by our desire to make Nigeria a better place. We must remember that we weren’t running for President of Northern Nigeria, neither were we running for President of Southern Nigeria, we were running for President of Nigeria; and our mission was to use the Presidency as a platform to uplift the lives of every Nigerian.

Our campaign was designed to unite Nigeria, not to divide her. Our mission was to rally Southerners and Northerners around the common cause of building our country. To all of my supporters, I want you to know that the killing of unarmed defenseless innocent people serves no purpose but to widen the divide that already exists in our country.

In the next couple of days, I will consult with leaders of my party to determine what to do next, with the best interest of our country and our party guiding my way. If we find any reason to doubt the validity of the election results, we will express our grievances through peaceful and civilized channels.

Although I do not know if I will ever seek the Presidency again, I do know that I will devote the rest of my life to the causes that were at the heart of our campaign. Thank you so much for listening to this message. May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

I do believe that a message like this was what Nigeria needed after the election. I really wish I worked for the Buhari campaign in 2011.
Politics › Re: I’ll Reply Babangida Soon - Buhari by danjohn: 9:00pm On Aug 29, 2012
Eziachi: My personal inner guts tells me that judging by the Nigerian standard, Buhari is not only clean but un-blemish. The man has stood between few corrupt Nigerians in an election they were desperate to defeat him by all means. Obasanjo is not only a wicked man but a very vindictive person, but saw nothing to hold on to against Buhari when he has every opportunity, motives and means to do so.

When IBB showed a little interest against OBJ and they started lifting the carpet through Ribadu, suddenly IBB goes silent and cooled on his ambition of a comeback.
Jonathan is surrounded by those that wants to shut up Buhari forever, especially those from the north as him and still they found nothing to go on about against him and had dare them more than once to go out and search anything against him,.

Its a typical Nigerian way to hate any sign of a good thing. Nigerians don't like good thing, in fact they prefer their greatest enemies. Its Nigerian way to judge people by their own standard.
So I don't find it difficult to believe when they feed on rumours and innuendoes over Buhari. If the man till date, still flys economic class like most of you, lives in a modest house in Daura, of which he has produced the evidence on how the small house was finance from his pension, no evidence of any foreign bank account till date despite OBJ/Ribadu looking but failed attempts.
Where is this money he was meant to have stolen and when is he going to spend it at his current age?

Replying IBB makes no sense at all, because people like IBB would die to have any mud to stick on Buhari, to justify himself and others like him that everybody is the same.
At the same time, you can never say never with human beings, so if any truthful evidence comes of any financial corruption against Buhari name, as usual with me, I won't be thrown out of my chair but I will be very surprised.
And I hope to see that day.
Very well said. cool

Hmmmmm as an avid GEJ critic, it pains me to say this. But I will say it nonetheless. I applaud the President for this decision. It was long overdue. Our two biggest problems right now are electricity and security. Once these two things are fixed, foreign capital will flood Nigeria’s economy and make us a middle income nation. Our economy will become more diversified and the government will earn more tax revenue that can be invested in infrastructure projects. Education will have to improve to meet the demand for skilled labor. The list goes on and on.

Mr. President, we your critics do not hate you; we only love Nigeria; and we want Nigeria to succeed. If you can make Nigeria succeed, Mr. President, we will sing your praises and tell wonderful tales to our children and grandchildren about the era of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Holding a position as a university president, professor, lecturer etc. is a routine practice of former elected officials around the world. Former politicians use this to buy time, while they are away from elected office.
