He probably found something he identifies with in the religion. A lot of Muslims have converted to Christianity too. As humans, some inevitably, get fed up with the norms of their society and venture out.

Have you taken anybody to court?
Have you brought lawsuit against the brethren?

Sometimes I wonder if some people feel the bible is an exclusive preserve for them only. As though we all don't have access to the same bible.

Fleecing people for money is wrong regardless of motive - if money is needed for propagation of the gospel, it should not be obtained fraudulently or through enticement.

I politely dis-agree with the bold parts.

You can witness from afar the devastation these charlatans mounts on their congregation. They not only rob them of their money, they also rob their members of the ability to think, reason and apply themselves. You can witness this 'theft of the mind' by reading some of the ludicrous comments from some of the ardent supporters of these men on this forum. The deceptive defensive mechanism they come up with is appalling and their 'insecurities' become very evident.

It brings me to the conclusion that [b]Majority [/b]of these members know their  demi-gods are charlatans.

Charlatans exists. This is the simple and plain truth. To ignore it will not make us holier, it only means we are trying to hide the deception which in turn makes us deceitful. Jesus did warn his followers about them.


Discussing about it helps expose and enlighten people and eventually encourages more transparency.

As much as I would not like this to be a us vs them (athiest vs theist), I realised you did conform to my call anyway by stating indoctrination as a result of the lady's action.

However, please permit me to dis-agree a bit. I say a bit because I do agree indoctrination might have had  a bigger effect relating to her action but I am tempted to say that a non-indoctrinated person might have done the same as well. Putting into thought that this person may possess the same level of stupidity and yet not be indoctrinated in any belief system.

To make it more simple, stupidity knows no race, religion or creed. It is simple a phenomenom and anybody, religious or not, can still possess the ability to be silly. I hope you get my drift.

The content in your post is  what I actually expected from those that made such a silly declaration. A very honest 'I don't know', simple. But to conclude that it is the most circulated book after the bible is nothing but deception especially without any data/resource to confirm or support.

The auto-defensive mechanism that you mention is open to different interpretation, but deep insecurity is one that is evident above all and the constant re-assurances from [i]them [/i]is  quite interesting to watch.

You can deceive people, which is very easy, but you can never deceive yourself.

Let us put our theological position aside for a minute, for the sake of humanity,  and discuss more on the stupidity of humans.

Athiests and theists can both acknowledge the fact that the desperation of people knows no bounds and that the issues that we really need to discuss right here  is how a right-thinking person will give that much money to a man who seem to have much already.

Am sure that lady has someone in her family or community that desperately need 1/3 of that money.

Although I strongly suspect this to be staged, however the response of the crowd is alarming.
