She has a calling from God . But the voice that told her to fast is not from God . It's was likely demons. God will never ask a student to skip class for 1month to fast . That is not how God operate. The real voice of God will tell her to fast during long school holidays. Now she will likely fail her course and carry over for the missed classes

How were they able to overpower a strong tribe like the Yoruba tribe? What happened to the proud Yoruba we grew up to fear? Now all we see are criminals using terror, intimidation and harassment to compete with other tribes,

How has the mighty fallen?
We Yorubas have this I don't care attitude, so long we're fine or are not directly affected. We kept pulling back and "facing our business" while these people grew cheeks.

Notice how we're largely showcasing attributes of slaves, unlike the Igbos who will largely refute and stand ground. It's easier to overpower Yoruba men as many of us will not even fight back.

Take a censors of how many family would allow their children defend the Yoruba land... atleast I won't, it is then you will know how connected I am to run away.

While I'm not trying to diss my tribe, I noticed we didn't heal from slavery. That's why police harass us anyhow in the Southwest but can't do same up north. We're seen as slaves even to armed forces. They know we won't fight back.

Except for those thugs, political miscreants and children from broken or impoverished homes, who will fight??

FamilyRe: I Sell My Properties Whenever I Go Broke, Is It Spirtual? by darealez(m): 4:06pm On Sep 25, 2023
KiNg0G:
I am not here for financial aid but help from people who have overcome such problems.

I can't help but think, when I get married with a wife and kids to feed, is this how I am going to continue? How will my family respect me.

This is the 3rd time of me replacing my tv set in the last 2years. Whenever I run out of money, I search for anything valuable to sell in my home, with the mindset that I will replace it. Which I normally do but sometimes it takes time because i know i might sell it again within some weeks. This is getting on me deeply with the number of cartons of phones and receipts from same equipments I no longer have.
My generator is another thing to talk about that my neighbors and landlord are starting to gossip because I can't explain changing of generator to and fro when its always placed outside.

I know I need help but don't know how to go about this.
I am not here for financial assistance as claimed by some peoples in anyway please, some of us seek for ways to stop some certain things when we know we are falling off tracks.

I am on my way to lg office to replace my TV for the third time and the thought of it warrants this post.
We're too attached to properties in Nigeria. My father owns feedmilling equipments and a store in a few states. We've locked these things down for years without using them.

The mentality of don't sell your item is a poor man's thing. So long it's for a worthy cause.

I ran bankrupt twice, sold items to get out...last year, had to sell one of my guitars to purchase a better laptop..

I've made over 800% of my selling value, and also been able to accrue some Crypto ETF as assets.

The reason behind your selling is what I wanna know. Do you need to learn budgeting, planning, etc? NOT EVERYTHING IS DEMONIC

See everything you own as sellable for a right cause rather than the typical Nigerian style of being emotional over properties.

Learn monopoly and see how pathetic that mentality is. Why you're selling is more important than what you're selling.

Openfortruth:
I greet you all Nairalanders.

Please permit me to share this thing my brother is doing to me.

As my life was about to become useless in the village, I came to the city to stay with my older brother and learn phone repairs.

My plan is to have this handwork so that when i gain admission, i wont rely totally only on education which has failed many in the country.

But my blood brother I'm staying with is behaving unkind to me as though i am a total stranger to him. Even total strangers deserve better treatment.

I'm only an apprenctice and yet to start making money. Most of the days, i trek to the place and return because I dont have transport.

He leave house first before me and return before me too. Before I would come back, he would cook noodles and finish it, washed the pot and everything and keep them clean as though nothing happened. Sometimes he eat outside and come back home and ignore me.

Except there's another way for me, that is how I would go hungry throughout the night and as early as possible in the morning, he would leave the house without reasoning anything food.

I'm seriously starving. I thought he would share the little he has with me till I also start making money. Is this how a senior brother should behave with the junior one?

He's being unkind to me and now I feel like hiding the Garri I brought from the village from him.

But is this how we should behave as blood brothers?

He can't even be there for me to free from this apprenticeship.
My dear, you're actually very right. Don't mind all these fellas saying thrash. Family is born to help each other. Unfortunately it doesn't always happen that way. Please, double up and look for more ways to get money.

Beg if you have to... If you can stay alive you can win. However, don't you hate him. He's helped you from the village already, take that as his little help!
EducationRe: FG Increases Salaries Of Tertiary Institutions’ Staff By 35% And 23% by darealez(m): 3:07pm On Sep 22, 2023
chatinent:
This is good news from the FG to the tertiary workers.

My heart goes out to all hustling private secondary school teachers still struggling to climb to ₦12k from the never increasing ₦10k. And they make it compulsory you write lesson notes even during vacation, not like they will even pay 13 months: they will insist on only paying for the months school was functional and leave you to your fate during holidays yet they will call you a full-time teacher. As if that is not enough as a female teacher, the director of the school will still want to press bwess and wipe.

As a female teacher, I'd have to work around the clock, take care of my students, and treat those who may vomit on my okrika gown like my own children but be rewarded with ₦10k after it must have been counted six times to crosscheck it doesn't exceed? Mounted with feasting eyes of predator perverts as heads, and also co-workers who yearn to dine, I am your undercover investment. So I'd buy my pad for ₦4k and use ₦6k for the month, plus my transports? And the only time you promise me a raise is when I bend for you, or spread my thighs "before your wife returns."

And as a male teacher, I'm left with no choice but to wear my tattered underpants to school, trying to hide their sorry state with a well-pressed about-to-wear-out senator. Then why should I blow the whistle on Aunty Njideka I caught red-handed eating from the pupil's lunchbox like a jackal who hasn't seen meat in a fortnight? Why should I spill the beans..when the school is giving me the whole "your reward is in heaven" spiel? Do I really have to die in order to reap the fruits of my labor while alive?

And after all these struggle, some students will see you finish because they've lost count on how your favourite brunch is two egg-rolls, black nylon to wrap it, and 7-up in a bottle that's so old. Let's not talk about our shoes that super glue can no longer hold together. And when you correct a student by flogging, maybe with a little frustration, they run to call their parents who roar "no, no, no, don't tell me that; I want to see that teacher." And we will be at the backyard eavesdropping. And when we hear footsteps, we try to run on tiptoe only for the nail on the wall to tear the remain strong knot by the trouser. We must look like complete hediots when you see us.

Ije uwa.

Yet we all forget all our children go through secondary school. We forget the secondary helpers and focus on the tertiary ones!

#SecondarySchoolTeachersLivesMatter.
Salary increment is hardly a good news. While it is fair to federal staff, people like yourself who work with private firms and business owners like myself will have to battle the inflation tooth and nail.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: See Why My Oga Sacked Me This Morning. Did I Do Wrong? by darealez(m): 9:41am On Sep 16, 2023
Standstrong:
I picked up the gate man job ending of last month out of no other better options at the moment and seeing what economic hardship was making me pass through, especially waking up with no hope of where food is going to come from, make i no go steal, God abeg.

I have been doing the job well. Yesterday, while strolling around the area, I heard one man saying he is looking for someone to cut grasses in his compound. Being something I can do to collect the money to help myself as i was hungry and peniless, I met the man and told him i can do the work and we agreed on N15k.

So as my oga went to work, i rushed down to do the work. While I was on it, i dont know what brought my oga back to the house and he didnt see me at the post.

He called me and asked me where i am. I rushed down to the house. I told him i got a small contract of 15k to cut grass for someone in the neighbourhood.

The man got so angry on why I left his duty post to go do another job. Worse was that the person i did the job for was more like his enemy, as i later learnt they've not been in good terms.

He sacked me instantly. I begged this man as a human being to please forgive but he refused to consider me again. He even said, "go before you go and collect poison from my enemy to come and kill me".

Please what is my business with whatever fight the two of them are fighting?

That was how I lost the small job i just got 3 weeks ago and now back with nothing. He should have paid me for the 3 weeks right away but he didnt, rather he said i will find a way to pay you for the services so far.

Please, the country is already very hard and all I needed was something that could give me immediate money to survive on first.

Sad how struggling citizens are being badly treated everyday even while legitimately hustling for survival. How he will pay me for the 3 weeks, he didn't say it.

It's painful but it is not the end of the world.

I will make it too. Amen.

It shall never be well with hunger, agent of poverty.
You're wrong and deserved to be sacked, but a smart boss would've retained you. He was being too emotional rather than rational.

That you told him an honest truth is a very rare quality. All you need is guidance for better performance. You flawed like we all do... kindly keep your integrity flying.
EducationRe: Why Do Some People Obsess Over The Use Of Hijab/niqab By Female Students? by darealez(m): 7:55am On Sep 14, 2023
Lukgaf:
WHY DO SOME PEOPLE OBSESS OVER THE USE OF HIJAB/NIQAB BY FEMALE STUDENTS? IS IT ROOTED IN HATRED OR A LACK OF EXPOSURE?

In recent days, I've been deeply troubled by the ongoing incident at one of the Federal government Universities in the southwestern part of our country, FUNAAB Abeokuta to be precise. Muslim female students who choose to wear hijab/niqab have allegedly been banned from exercising their right to practice their religion and uphold its values, as enshrined in our constitution on campus. Regrettably, this is not the first time such an incident has occurred. In the past, hijab/niqab were deemed "indecent" and included in the list of inappropriate dressings on campus signposts. This begs the question: Why are some individuals so fixated on hijab?

Could it be because some individuals have limited exposure and haven't had the opportunity to witness how developed countries respect and allow individuals to practice their beliefs? Why must some students and parents resort to legal action before their children can dress in accordance with their faith in a government school? Why?

I've had the privilege of teaching a veiled sister in one of the African countries, where Muslims make up less than 2% of the population. This isn't an issue in many parts of the world. So, why is Nigeria different?

Recently, Science in Yoruba organized a quiz competition, and one of my sisters - Faatimah Luqman Adewumi participated, earning second place. In a video released to congratulate the winners, which included her, it was disheartening to witness the hateful comments and abuse hurled at her simply because she wore the niqab. What's the problem?

Just last week, in Ilorin, while assisting a sister at the immigration office as she waited to be photographed for her international passport, we were told that only one female staff member was available to capture photos for those wearing the niqab, and she was absent. We were advised to return the following day. We should tolerate one another as Nigerians.

I strongly call on the government to be proactive and also impose strict penalties on anyone, including civil servants, regardless of their rank, who infringes upon the rights of individuals. No citizen is superior to another.

PoliticsRe: See Reasons Why Peter Obi Must Not Go To Supreme Court by darealez(m): 3:02am On Sep 10, 2023
nikky5:
Peter Obi is no doubt a good man in character. I like him for his humility and civility. The fact remains that politics is a game of numbers and a winner must emerge. Obi changed the narrative of the political landscape in Nigeria. It's rather unfortunate that he lost the 2023 Presidential election.

The PEPT judgement on his petitions against the incumbent president also affirmed that Obi actually lost the election with a distant third position. But that's not the end of the world. He needs to accept the verdict and congratulate Asiwaju. That will be a demonstration of good sportsmanship.

Obi must not proceed to the Supreme Court for redress if he wants to remain relevant in Nigeria politics. If APC had fielded Osinbajo, he would have been nowhere. He was able to garner support of Nigerians because of APC Muslim Muslim ticket.

Barely 72 hours to the presidential election, all his 36 states chairmen had told him that he cannot win the election. He lost.

If he goes to the supreme Court to seek his lost but not stolen mandate, he should expect the following:

1. He will surely lose. He has no chance of winning or reclaiming a lost mandate. He will end up wasting his time and money.

2. Labour party has welcomed the judgement of PEPT on Obi's petition. His part knew he cannot win the case. I foresee Obi leaving Labour party.

3. Obi may retire from partisan politics because he may no longer enjoy the support of Labour party. The PDP and APC may not welcome him.

4. As a result of his imminent defeat at the Supreme Court, the obidients will lose their support base especially those from the south west and North Central.

Now, let's ask ourselves this all important question, is politics a do or die affair?
This piece became illogical and incoherent when it ended with whether politics is a do or die affair. When did seeking court redress become an insignia for "do or die"? It is pathetic that Nigerians are always quick to welcome supposed injustice. Let the man Obi alone to pursue as he may deem fit. He doesn't have to win, and that's no reason to not seek redress.

The Colloquium was held in Abuja to mark the 25th anniversary of Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama as a SAN

EXCERPTS OF THE SPEECH BY RETIRED JUSTICE MARY ODILI
This Colloquium and book launch in honour of Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama SAN upon the attainment of 25 years as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria is an epochal achievement.

It is no doubt appropriate that the theme is: "The Nigeria of our dreams, a call to the Patriots". I say so in the light of the prevailing situation in Nigeria as a result of the 2023 General Elections which has generated a lot of storm necessitating the kind of conversation which we are about to indulge in as there seems to be moved to throw the nation into chaos or conflagration.

This may be brought about by some individuals and groups who fanning the ambers of hatred, bigotry and tribalism fails to see the possible outcomes of the utterances without caution that are been thrown around.

It is human to feel cheated or having the short end of the stick but one who is not declared the winner at any electoral contests, such emotions however grieved does not justify bringing the roof down, the roof of our nation.

The reason is simple, that in such an eventuality, that aggrieved person may not be spared as the commotion that could ensue will be like an unguided missile which could land anywhere and upon anyone.

Therefore, in ventilating our point of view and facts at the electoral tribunals or other courts, a sense of responsibility from all parties is demanded. The situation does not call for the blackmail of the judges or the posting of speculatory hypothesis giving them such a life of their own which run riot and accepted by the hapless and innocent in the society as the truth.

Knowing the quality of the participants at this Colloquium and I am happy that professional and those who are well-equipped in litigation matters or electoral disputes, Chief Olanipekun is a master and our Attorney-General recently sworn-in, these are experts.

I am confident that having such persons here including our chief host Chief J K Gadzama there is confidence that at the end of the day, a resetting of the mind will be taking place and we will keep things in perspective in the full Knowledge that elections are seasonal and litigations relating thereto.....
If a retired Justice of the supreme court can be this full of injustice, the nation sits on gunpowder. Those fanning the flames of injustice today think it's a party and tribe carnival, not knowing how much the eventualities would sieve into the air.

Nevertheless, the Judges at tribunal should regard the constitution, law and order, and stop trying to blackmail petitioners into accepting the main order which they have challenged in court, instead deliver good justice.

That we want a law abiding nation starts with the process of everything. Justice doesn't imply Peter Obi wins, Justice implies the right thing is done.
