I cannot be prejudiced against myself- I'm a northerner, part hausa for heaven's sake, how can u POSSIBLY know me better than myself? I served in Kano, in Kwankwaso's village, the present governor. I Was asked to teach integrated science in a sec sch that was preparing for JSSCE. At one point, I had to lecture my wards in hausa just so they could understand, but the exams were going to be conducted in english. Each month, the size of my class dwindled; some quit to focus on their farms, some just sat their lazy behinds @ home whilst others went off to marry! My headboy had two wives @ the time and we called him mallam. So what harder evidence do u seek? Northern leaders are not interested in education for the primary reason that they need their kinsmen to remain the zombies that they are, to do their bidding. You refer to my assertion that religion largely clouds the reasoning of most northerners as fallacy? Brother, wake up and smell the coffee. Those of us fortunate enough to have obtained an education know better.

Most northerners here are either making excuses or being unduly defensive. The north is behind educationally due to a myriad of factors, chief amongst which is ignorance and outright brain washing. What but ignorance makes a man have a family of more than ten children and three wives just because he can or because it's legal? Our hypothetical father is most likely an artisan or subsistence farmer- how many children can his meagre income put through school? The same school where his offspring will be raised in the ways of the demonic white man, as advised by his imam? I'm from the north and I know how many of my mates gave up school after primary 6, that is for those who managed to agree to even be educated. The vast majority prefer to become transporters (drivers) as they handle cash on a daily basis albeit on behalf of their employer. The average northerner lacks motivation and ambition from his environment and even family; most are just content enough to get by from day to day. And make no mistake, our environment is suited for laziness.

@Onatisi- I've spent 3 decades in Jos; You cannot wake up after living with someone, and claim ownership of the land BY FORCE. Plateau indigenes aren't asking them out, but they want political power @ all costs. Some of them were born and raised here, they have no other home but you cannot impose yourself on your host community. So they have resorted to unleashing terror on innocent people while crying wolf at the same time when there is retaliation. Hausa-fulani are not the majority else they would have voted in one of theirs by now.

@onatisi- Whenever your average hausa man wants to garner cheap support or publicity, he colors it with religion, hence the religious angle.
The explosion that occured today was near the express road, not far from the NYSC camp @ Zang Commercial Secondary school Bukuru. We still can't say for sure what the target was. What we know and what we saw was that it was pre-arranged. As soon as it went off, the hausa youth in the area came out fully armed with automatic weapons and began shooting sporadically. Some of the more foolhardy ones amongst them crossed into the buffer zone(so to speak) and attempted to torch the first christian building they saw. It was with great effort that the more reasonable and elderly ones prevented these small boys from causing what would have been a great TRAGEDY. The beroms were on the other side watching the hausas every move. There are weapons awash in Bukuru, on both sides, and this is not safe @ all. But someone is definitely arming those hausa boys, small kids that can't use their discretion. As it is now, the hausas set up a barricade on their end whilst berom youth look on, waiting for the situation to escalate. Meanwhile, your friendly neighbourhood STF showed face and moved on to only-God-knows where. Jos needs to be disarmed.

First off, most of you don't know who Aliyu Tilde is; A troublemaker that writes inciting and poorly researched articles for 'Daily Trust', one of the most biased and trash filled examples of print journalism. What does he know of the villages in Jos south when he is based in Bauchi, pray tell? There have been series of bloody fulani raids on these villages resulting in the annihilation of total families and this same man has not seen it fit to call it a crime against humanity. These fulani terrorists come well equipped with full army garb and weapons to boot to unleash carnage, albeit in a cowardly fashion at dead of night. Intelligence sources confirm the existence of a settlement in the hills where these killers operate from, hence the ongoing operation by the STF to kill or capture them. These are the 'Citizens' that Tilde seeks to protect, the ones he refers to as The Fulani that should go nowhere, gutless murderers. Truth will always prevail though at a price that is costly, in this case, the blood of the innocent murdered in their sleep by fulani on the Plateau. If these are the fulani Tilde is referring to, by all means let them stay and pay for their crimes against man and God. They have become brigands and deviants against society and must be brought to book at ALL COSTS.

This post and its source are totally WRONG, though I think it was done for sensationalism. First off, the villages mentioned are amongst those recently attacked by fulani marauders; how then is it possible that they are inhabited by fulanis again? Did they come to kill their kith and kin ? The villages are Berom villages and the STF are ordering them to vacate ostensibly as a prelude to a major offensive(We hope..).
Secondly, there is nothing like "Fulani Ancestral Land" in these areas, it is so absurd it beggars belief. A nomad, with ancestral land, in a land he wanders through seasonally? How is it plausible?

The OP highlighted some points that really touch a nerve. I for one can't stand this so called text english that makes intelligent beings communicate as though they are imbeciles. What is GGMUB or LLNP in english language? Whilst their usage can be condoned in social media, the users have to understand that you cannot use such language in everyday life and expect to get very far. Its not the teenagers fault that this is the parlance of their generation, but I will blame ANY teenager and indeed adult, who attempts to use this language in academic or professional circles. The usage is not the culprit now, just the ability to use proper judgement to ascertain when to use it and when to refrain. In this, the coming generations are lacking, and its not just Nigerians as well. Our role is simple; teach and coach our wards to keep it simple and leave it original as the setting dictates. I fear we shall have a generation of schooled illiterates on our hands pretty soon; people with degrees and with very little by way of knowledge.

Sorry you feel bad about not meeting your target cgpa-wise . Whatever you do, don't go plastering it on your CV that you have a 3.49 instead of a 2.2 as this is the fastest way to get your CV chucked in the garbage . You will distinguish yourself clearly during tests and interviews . Cheer up.

I use GTB, FBN and FCMB and I think I'd rank them in that order. Lately though, GT has left me in dire straits to the point that even their atms failed to dispense cash! FBN's FIRSTonline has NEVER been offline for me, oddly enough, but I don't do any meaningful transaction on the platform. FCMBonline is my darling for interbank transfers locally, I've had about 95percent success in my transactions with them. I think GTBank hasn't come to terms with the number of customers they currently have and will keep struggling if they remain in denial.
