Meddler: no sarcasm here, I promise.ok, thanks for wishing me well. Wish u well too |
Meddler: I know u didn't mean all the ladies. And yes they don't let it get to their headsi av this feelin u r bein sarcastic wit me......tell me i'm right.lol |
Fhemmmy: True that, so might be ideal to open another thread for it . . .i suppose... |
Meddler: I laugh when I hear guys describe a particular type of lady u have encountered in the past or present. My take is that if u have been meeting the same type of girls over and over again, change environments ur taste and try something different. my female friends r the complete opposite of what you described above. Sorry for the cliché but they r strong independent women and r not looking for someone to take care of them. Now the funny thing is that guys appear not to like those kind of chicks. Either they r too intimidated by them or they believe they would be too proud. Anyway the gist of my story is that u start looking for women and not girls because there's a big difference between the two. Apparently uve only been meeting girls.well said. I stated earlier that i wonder if perhaps i am the one surrounded by the wrong sort. U make it sound as if i said all ladies are like that? No i did not. And i forgot to mention that i know a number of independent ones too (but for some reasons thear are 'within reach'). But if as u say, most of the ladies you know are independent and yet do not let it 'get into their heads'( u didnt talk about that aspect though), then its great. Finally, about meeting 'women', i am not even 'searching' (@ least not delibrately). |
ighoosagie: its wud b worse dan suicide 4 u 2 allow religion tk d stead of ur happiness .if we go into this discussion, we might derail this thread. |
shirley whyte: DaRryOsh, please talk to me...ayt, shirley.......*extends hands of friendship* followig u........ |
ighoosagie: u see , it wud b impossible for half cast children 2 b racist , same formula goes 2 religion.you make it sound so easy. Religion and race are not the same. The kind of marriage u talk about can only work if both parties do not take their religions very seriously. Even so, what happens if along the line one of them takes is more seriously and religious values clash. And as for the children, which wil they follow. From xperience, they follow the spouse who is more aggresive in instilling his/her religious beliefs |
Please can you give us an example of those standards. Because I was once young and thought I would have settled years ago, but I am not even sure of doing it this year. irrespective of my earnings, I don't really lack money, so I wouldn't attribute my bachelorhood to lack of money.
now that you asked, i realise puttin it in into words in more difficult than i thought. Well, i must say that i believe good peolpe(regardless of sex, age, race etc) are generally hard to come by. My default impression of ladies is that they are are superficial. I mean, who says they cant b deep thinkers.....to lots of them fashion, and other superficial stuff are kind of priority. Just check out what a lot of them regard as entertainment. They dont wann see deep movies.no! They dont really aspire for much. So many just want a guy with money and feel pressured to go into retaionships and marriage jut for the sake of it. Why are they scared to b alone. A lady leaves a relationship and cannot imagine being on her own for a while. She just jumps into another man's arms. Talk about independence. Its all about show-off (even their marriage and relationships). My friend who things i set my standards too high believes that is how ladies are supposed to b. In short, most girls go into relationships with the mindset that they are going to 'take' rather than 'give'. I wouldnt want a nagging wife who believe i should do d work of making things 'work' because she is the lady and i am the man. Now, from experience, those who seem to have the right mindset may have submission issues (i use the word submission in accordance with the bible). And, oh, faith is one thing i cnt compromise. Not just by mouth, bt practicing it. Ps: sometimes i wonder if i hold this beliefs because of my own environment. I must say that when i come on to nairaland and read posts by some ladies, i wonder how come i dont come in contact with these wonderful ones. Where the hell are they? I have tried to put it in words....... |
I like to think that i stil hav time on my side (early twenties) but i try to prepare. This marriage of a thing is a big deal! Sometimes it seems that one can never prepare enough. I have seen circumstances turn great marrriages into something else. Because i believe that i am a very good man and whoever gets me is favoured, i have set high standards. A friend tells me my standards are unrelistic. Yet another friend (who is just like me in many regards) says otherwise. He believes that since i meet up with those high standard i deseve someone who also does. But its confusing......i believe in compromise but there are many things i dont want to compromise on. Lord help us all. |
As i read the comments in this thread i see a lot of beefing and inverted snobbery. For goodness sake if i father is rich, she shud jump in d lagoon or wat? To d best of my knowledge, none of us chose our parents. I am sure most of us here plan to b as rich as otedola, so ur kids are definately gonna b like her. They may never step foot in naija and yet they wil claim to love naija. So please cut her some slack abeg! She should not b made to apologise for the blessings in her life. If u av a prob wit her father, face him |
Funny as hell
really? Is hell funny? Lol |
For those who wrote the test on 22nd june, please lets share updates. And how was your test? |
amakenny: But has WS any excuse for not attending CA's funeral?I beg your pardon! Did you not read the post. Besides, as he stated, some people may choose to mourn differently. |
zhirinmai: 10x 4 being there 4 me dad, u told me wot it takz 2 b a man bt i neva knew it will b dat hard, u told me hw wicked women are, bt i neva knew dey could b dat bad. Hw i wish i can 4eva remain a young lad, Cos its nt easy being a dad. Hapi fatherz Day. NMLif he told u how wicked women are, i wonder wat he told ur sisters or wat u wil tel ur daughters |
dammytosh: A great Dad you gat there. Happy Father's Day to him. |
Bolly is fast losing my repect. Indian movies are dying, what they av now are bastardized versions of american movies. Their songs r now hip hop, they dress like americans, their stories are too americanized, everthing! What happened to those compelling indian dramas filled with rich indian culture that made me as a child to vow that i must visit india before i die! They r losing themselves and its sad. This is wat now happens on the global movie scene: holly makes a movie and bolly copies it and adds dancing and singing. Nolly copies bolly's version and dont even change the title(but tyler becomes tayo and marion becomes amara). Golly copies nolly's version and makes it sexually explicit! Nonsense! Since all can b traced no holly, then holly is the best. They copy no one! There r stil few authentically indian movies i repect though. I loved bolly when they had their identity and stood for what they are. I recently saw a bolly movie, they spoke english all thru, english title, no dance, no indian culture, no indian dressing......a failed attemp to copy americans...it was a disaster. People should realise thay u cnt copy someone and b better than them. At the end of the day, it seems everyone sees things through american eyes and telling american stories. Whatever happened to cultural identity and diversity |
Tho related, there's a big difference between open communication and open marriage. I think the. Op is practicing both. No biggie! Open communication is a situation where a couple is free to discuss all aspects of their relationship including finance, relatives, friends, work, intentions, advances from opposite sex and desires. While open marriage encompasses the above and having any one of the couple be intimate with a 3rd party so far the partner is informed. Some may find open communication too extreme and embarrassing while others may find it reassuring and safe. So, be it open or secret communication...COMMUNICATION is one of the major foundations to stable relationships.
i thinj u guys misunderstand the OP. What he means by not having a girlfirnd dat wil cost more than 5k is that because his wife knows bout the inflow and outflow of cash in his accountif he decides to cheat, then the girlfriend would have to cost 5k or less cos his wife wud know otherwise. In other worjs, he cant cheat |
pc guru: I don't recall having any list, i tell my babe how it is, if am broke she knows and i don't hide it because that is what relationship is all about. There are times i had to cancel dates because No access to a car, and she has suggested Bus so many times,I don't know what foundation your relationship is based on, but mine is based on openness. that's why i love my babethnx jare ...i dnt know why pple lik to spread the ideology that once u r in a relationship, u r doomed. In fact the concept of relationship has been abused. Is the op trying to say that those without cars and fat bank accounts do not enjoy their relationships. When guys talk like this, i just try to imagine the kind of girls they date. Why date someone you would never consider marrying. Dudes and ladies, u beta wake up and stop going into casual relationships that make no sense. I cant date someone who who not offer me financial assistance whan i need it. I am the guy, so what? Are we not supposed to b a team. No wonder marriages are crashing. The only reason girls can make outrageous demands from their magas is cos there r guys willin to me magas just because of wetin them wan chop. In summary, i believe in relationships people get what they deserve. A serious minded guy goin into relationship for the right reasons will most likey not fall into the hands of a girl who only wants an ATM. A girl who goes into relationship for the right reasons will not end up with a guy who only wants her as a play thing |
Who here has seen Hotel Rwanda? That's how I want this movie- which is also based on true events- to be made: emotionally powerful and accurate.
this got me thinking. Can hotel rwanda b considered a rwandan movie? I dont think so. So really what makes a movie nigerian or not |
vizboy: the call card is not a problem. Sometimes when i find a girl attractive and I will always go for her. But the moment she accept my love i lose my sense of communication. Some times i would ask myself if i should call these girl what would be the topic of discussion so with that i just loss interest in calling her. I hardly call may be 2 to 3 times a weekwhen u find someone who is on d sama page wit u socially, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually etc, u wont have to plan ahead wat to talk about. It just flow cos u r on the same page. Wich leads me to conclude that u have only found those that attract you, not those that u connect wit. |
I agree with the op except on the issue of txt messages. I am an undergrad n wud hate to find my parents goin thru my txts (unless they suspect i have picked up a destructive habit or something) |
everyone is saying MR has repercussions.....ok...can someone please explain these repercurssions......if the wealth only comes for a while....the OP said it can be renewed by graduating to the more terrible ones.....so in a way you can maintain the wealth until death.abi? or am i getting the whole stuff wrong |
rali123: Only in Unilorin will a lecturer tell u Grade 'A' is for God, 'B' is for him while student can start struggling from 'C' downward.not only in ilorin. I HATE this statement. If a single one of ur students cannot make an A in your course, then i believe you have failed as a lecturer not! You should find another job. |
Seriously, i think its time we protested over this tonto dike rubbish! Can moderators please explain to me what qualifies a thread for front page. I do not see how rubbish threads on how tonto eats, drinks, laughs, poo-poos,snatches pple's boyfriends and all those nonsense are supposed to affect me......does it increase my pocket? does it help me achieve my goals? does it make me a better person? does it educate me? For goodness sake, how does these annoying tonto threads increase my GPA? |
the hair(which to me does not seem natural) is long. However, i cannot but point out that it is not waist long as the title of the thread suggests. So the OP lied! |
Venchy: To be an African abroad is beautiful and proud of my skin, life in Overseas is brilliant but it comes with a price and sometimes lots of painwhen you type in gargantuan fonts like this.it is tantamount to screaming!not cool |
Shollypopz: It's not because of the culture. There are too many diverse cultures in Africa for anyone to group us as one because of culture. African culture ain't that similar at all!you are very correct. i totally agree with you. it pisses me off that we are so powerless to write our own story, they project an image which they like or believe about us. the worst thing is that even the Africans begin to see themselves through the eyes of the west. Why cant we freaking write our own stories?..nobody should tell us we we are.... |
Piponomics: No more studying anything that isn't Nursing,Medicine or Med lab in my house.this is a very dangerous thing to say |
adaobi123: His got very sharp featureshere is what you really mean: "He is really bony" |
