Hello All, did anyone here apply for a passport renewal from the month of Dec - Jan at the Nigerian embassy in Berlin? If yes, have you been able to get the passport or any info from the embassy?

Thanks

There is a delay is passport issuance/renewal in Nigeria due to lack of passport booklets. I'm guessing the same issue is affecting issuance/renewal abroad.

There has been diagreements between the government and the company that prints our booklets. ( Our booklets are printed by a Malaysian company). Accusations of breach of contract and all that. There is a huge backlog of requests from January. Hopefully they sort their issues soon cos lots of people are stranded.

Go to the bank where you registered for your bvn. They will likely ask you to provide a govt-issued ID bearing your preferred name and an affidavit. Then they will update your details for you on the bvn portal.

Hi guys. Quick question.

I recently went to renew my passport at Ikoyi. It is still valid for 8 months but I was able to convince them to renew it.

After the data capture, the old passport was returned to me intact. Aren't they supposed to cancel it?

Now while I am waiting for them new passport to be ready (no booklet), I need to certify some academic documents at the embassy and will have to present my passport. Can I use the old passport?

Many schools will waive IELTS/TOEFL if your undergraduate degree was taught in English. Some will require an official letter from your university confirming this.

Search for your schools and programmes of choice to know the specufic requirements.

shogotermies:
Hello everyone.Am a guy in in early twenties,.
I wanted a better life for myself, without the help of anyone,.

So I collected a loan from a friend, he lent me a 100k to start the organic skincare business, two months ago.
Which we agreed on an interest of 13.5%, and had it on papers too.

So I was able to make production in two weeks,.
Fast forward.

So I was unable to pay the interest rate of 13.5%, so Iwas able to pay 10%, which is 10,000.

The guy got mad, he was really angry.
But due to d fact my skincare products is just still new, sales was just so poor.

Now I am to pay him, today for the interest unlucky for me I fell into the hands of some fraudsters, I lost my money. But the issue is, I can't pay the interest now, my business isn't showing any positivity. Am frustrated, I need advice on what next to do.

He is now sending me message and insults, thinking am doing this on purpose..

Please mind my grammar and punctuations

You shouldn't start a business with debt. A startup needs equity, not debt.

Only established businesses should borrow money.

What you need is money that you can play with. Tell me, once you pay back the loan plus interest, which money will you use to continue the running of the business? Besides, no matter how much feasibility studies you do, the beginning of a business usually springs up some surprises.

Anyway, speak to your friend. Explain the situation to him. Give him a timeline for payment. If possible, ask him to write-off part of the loan, perhaps the accruing interest.

Then go and save money to start again. Don't borrow. If you need external funding, find investors who believe in your business idea. It often takes a while for startups to breakeven and then become profitable. If the business survives and is profitable, then both you and your investor(s) will begin to reap the benefits. If it fails, you learn and move on.

Again, don't borrow to start a business.

I wish you all the best.

tactius:
Sad...the problem is Brexit.

The problem is, many people don't want to accept the results of a valid referendum, and the EU put up strict condtions for the UK to discourage other members from leaving.

If I were British, I would be for Remain, however, I think the UK should leave because democracy sometimes means accepting results we don't like.

Back in 1993 in Nigeria, we got 5 more years of brutal millitary rule because some people did not want to accept the result of an election (and no, I don't think Abiola was the answer).

This exactly is my point. They should leave. There shouldn't be a second referendum because it will set a terrible precedent. Any matter they vote on in future will be put to a second vote because the losing side would disagree.

Like you said, democracy sometimes means accepting results that we don't like. And the UK is one of the world's most important beacons of democracy

I didn't see growth. The company experienced sporadic cash flow.
However, the company's Earnings Per Share (EPS) declined by 58 Kobo per share. The company's Earnings Per Share declined from 86 Kobo to 28 Kobo. Year-on-Year CCNN EPS was down by 67.4%.

The selling and distribution expenses soared from N245.87 million to N1 billion. Whilst its administrative expenses increased from N597.65 million to N1.29 billion.

That's not a good marginal profit considering the operational and administrative cost.

You're smart bro.

Most people read the headline and perharps first paragraph. And they think the company is doing spectacularly well.

I often tell people that life is not a Nollywood movie.

Bad things do not always happened to bad people and good people do not always end up happiest.

I learnt this earlier in life.
The best students in my primary and secondary schools are not the most highly achieving today. Most of them didn’t even end up with first class in the University.

Even the first class students in most Universities do not end up the most successful.

Academic success is a little too overrated.

Mark Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard to establish Facebook and he became the 5th richest man on earth. He is still in his 30s. Although he went back years later to tidy up.

Bill Gates also dropped out and he is the richest man on earth.

Virgins do sometimes end up marrying crazy philandering men, while some prostitutes do end up marrying men who worship them.

I’ve seen a woman who had several abortions but ended up having children in marriage when she was ready, while some virgins suffer fertility issues.

I’ve made up my mind to take calculated risks in life, and do what works for me. There’s really no almighty formula to success in life. If you see any opportunity, take it. As long as you aren’t making illegal moves and you aren’t hurting anyone in the process, go for it.

Very well said. But is this related to the topic at hand?

Lazyreporta:
On the Island of the affluent in Lagos, I rarely hear aircraft buzzing in the sky, except the posh helicopters of the busy rich. The airport and flight noise don’t affect the airspace, it only devalues the land.

The rich pretend to pray, but God is on the Mainland, land on the island is too expensive to build many worship centers.

The Island was not built for Beer. It is the hub of champagne, spirits, and wines. Beer is for the road, an appetizer bottled on the Mainland.

The Mainland is crowded with families. Life on the island has no friends. Everything is cash or ‘waka’. The roads are expensively tolled, the schools are US ‘Dollard’, and a smile might cost some ‘Nairas’.

The Island expands while the Mainland remains the same. Under neon lights, millions of Mainland ‘ants’ trample on the Third Mainland Bridge into the Island of their dreams. Many die on the bridge, many earn a kobo, and many rob the others.
1

The Island goes to the Mainland, only to fly. Life on the mainland has many tribes. Bad roads and traffic jamborees in Enugu suburbs like Ago and Okota would eventually pursue ‘Omo Igbo’ to the East. The smart ones live in Yoruba neighborhoods, like itire, with Chinese constructed drainages. Sharp guys have moved into Surulere, the Governor’s neighborhood and the best place to drink. The number of youths in Festac makes one wonder if they ate their parents for dinner.

Ketu is a gang of Yoruba women hustling to breathe. Ikorodu can be great if it gets a bridge into the island. Yaba is the link between books, Aristos, ‘White House’ and an infamous Psyche ward (Yaba-left).yaba

Sex is on Allen, tax is a joyride at Alausa. Obanikoro is the name of a man on the Island and a place in the Mainland. Everything on the Mainland is made in Ilupeju, Ogba, Isolo, Agidingbi, and Oregun. Agbara is not on the Mainland, it’s in Ogun state, like Mowe and Ibafo.

Everything on the Island is imported from the Mainland ports of Apapa and Tin Can. The sound of Mazamaza and Okokomaiko can cure madness. Homes in Idi-Araba are waiting to collapse, thank God for LUTH; Igbobi’s Orthopedics is not too far away.

There is a Lagos state University campus in every Mainland corner; the main campus and a military cantonment are at Ojo. Musicians from Mushin and Ajegunle have monopolized the sympathy of poverty, while Egbeda and Ikotun get no pity.
If eyes are closed in Agege and Iddo when a train passes, one can pretend to be in Grand Central Station. 3Gbagadans usually pretend to be on the Island, but Oworonshoki can’t get away with such lies. Ogudu GRA insists on being distinct from a conjoined Ojota, while Amuwo-Odofin calls itself Festac Extension.

Iju and Ojodu villages are hyped by estate agents. Ebute-Metta is an old Yoruba phrase: “A place of three shores.” It is a decaying dream of British colonialism and Brazilian architecture.

Most of the residents of Magodo and Omole are Landlords. Maryland is not a saint and Anthony is not a Village. Igando and Ipaja are playing catching up with the state government.

Ikeja is the official capital of Lagos. The State House is on the Island, where the real capital is. Lagos deserves a special status in the constitution.index

On the Island, money has relatives. Ikoyi and Victoria Island are twin sisters, posh from birth and wrinkled with age. Lekki is a distant cousin, taxing and full of fraudulent schemes. VGC and Eleko are wealthy uncles, isolated from others and always overseas. Nicon and Parkview are the pretty nieces with feigned American and British accents. Oniru and Elegushi are the nephews from the village, who recently found wealth and arrogance. Ajah is the Step-sister, giving birth to children she can’t feed. Jakande and Igbo-Efon are broke In-laws, hardworking but always in need. Ibeju-Lekki and Epe are the Jilted aunts, feeding on promises and searching for suitors. Obalende is the lost brother without a mind, thought to be dead. Eko, Idumota, and Marina are Triplets of Royal descents, with trade on their minds, and power between their legs. Maroko is the baby that was aborted at Midterm. Makoko is the dirty bastard that wouldn’t disappear. Eko Atlantic City has recently left the incubator, hoping to survive. Many other siblings are just occupying space and causing traffic jams on the Island of the rich.

This is how I know I’m not on the Island: service attendants begging for money; Lastma officials lurking behind traffic lights; Dunghill switch is everywhere, and I can’t get an Iota of decency.

No offense bro! And I must say that u are entitled to ur opinion... But from this trailer that I just watched, this movie is going to be everything wonderful and amazing that the word "mediocrity" won't even have a space to come out of critics mouths... not only will it open a lot more doors for Genny and Nollywood again like "Road to Yesterday" did for her and Nollywood in 2016 TIFF, but this time it will be something overwhelming... did u see the graphics, picture quality, the galaxy of stars in this movie,... a lot of ppl will be anticipating cos even if dem tell me say Me. P fit act before now I no go believe, Pyhno too, not to talk of our legends dem... just wait till this movie hits Nigerian and other African Cinemas... Even before the announcement of dates that it will start showing in the Cinemas, the tickets go finish for air before e reach ground!

We have been hearing of Nollywood blockbusters but Mehn! This will create another record for Nollywood blockbusters/box office to follow... Wedding party o, Wives of strike o, okafor's law, 76, 93 days, dry, 30 Days in Atlanta, 10 Days in Suncity o, etc which are very wonderful movies but dey will all be like a child's play to this movie (Lionheart) with the cash out in the Cinemas... I am not exaggerating... Na fact I dey talk!!!

This movie will definitely take Nollywood to another extraordinary level quote me anywhere...
I dey believe Genevieve's Doings!!! Infact I too dey believe her Workings pass anybody for that industry men and women alike!!!
Even Onyeka Onwenu confirmed this in her interview with Wazobia TV shortly after d shooting of this movie... she said "Genny knows what many of us that has been in the industry even before her doesn't know! Just wait and see her... she is coming...."

I'm sure it is going to be a good film. But I agree with Ogtavia. From what I picked from the trailer, the storyline does not really stand out.

By the way, I feel like I've already seen the film from this trailer. Trailers shouldn't 'tell the full story'.

Believe it or not, but I hold your moniker in high esteem, and I'm a bit surprised this is coming from you (condoning corruption)

When did it become a crime to buy a 300k phone?
You forget that the same 80k phone many people buy and term affordable is a great luxury to many poorer people.

I have friends who claim only a minimum of 6GB ram can suffice for what they do, and we argue and argue about it, so don't think expensive tech products are just a fashion or class statement.

A Nissan Micra moves quite well, but I'm sure you would want something bigger if you can afford it.
You aren't any better than the OP then.

By the way, the OP was buying to resell, so there goes your analogy right out through the window.

You have spoken well.

I really don't understand the logic. What if Op is even buying the phone for show off.

Should you be glad about other people's misfortune just because you have a different opinion on how they should spend THEIR OWN money?

If you cannot proffer a solution to the problem at hand there is no need to gloat.
