I wish Lagos to be delivered from the stranglehold of Tinubu like Oyo State was delivered from the then "strongman of Ibadan politics" called Adedibu. Will it happen in 2019? I'm not very convinced because Jimi seem unprepared for the campaign. While Sanwoolu is criss-crossing the length and breadth of Lagos selling his candidacy, Jimi has yet to find his footing. Jimi Agbaje, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Lagos state, says he will free Lagos state from Alphabeta Consulting. According to Agbaje, Alphabeta Consulting receives a particular — unknown — percentage of every dime Lagos earns in taxes and revenues, which he says is against international best practices. “I could be here all day talking about Free Lagos. Let me start from the basic freedom of information Act, Lagos is still run like a closed shop, like a private company,” Agbaje told Channels TV on Sunday Politics. “Lagos has refused to domesticate the freedom of information bill, so we don’t know what plays out in Lagos. So we are talking of freedom to have access to exactly how they are running our government. “In the last 20 years, Lagos has spent some N7 trillion, and we are asking what have we got for N7 trillion? Are we getting value for money? “Out of that N7 trillion, there is a private company that takes a percentage of that N7 trillion, and we are asking, for what purpose? There is private company fund collector, Alphabeta or whatever, collects that much. “We don’t even know what the percentage is; it could be 12 percent, 10 percent, it could be 8 percent.” When asked if the company was legal or not, he said “it is not about being legal, it is about being moral, because if you tell me that of every amount of money that Lagos spends, there is a private company that is collecting, and I am asking, that is taxpayers money, why should it be, to what purpose?” “It is against standard practice because we don’t see what they are doing and we don’t even know what the percentage is, and I don’t see value for money, so its freedom from that.” https://f5p3e9e4.stackpathcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Jimi-Agbaje6-653x365.png Speaking of his relationship with Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos state and a strong godfather in the state, Agbaje said he has no feud with Tinubu. He adds that Tinubu is his friend, but they disagree on principle and brands of democracy. “There was never a feud, I think it is very wrong to say that there was a feud, there has never been a feud,” Agbaje added. Asked if it was anger that made him leave Tinubu’s camp, he said “it wasn’t about anger, it was about principle, don’t forget that even after that, offers were given to me, it is not about that, it is about principles. I don’t have any feud with anybody”. When asked if they are still friends, Agbaje said “yes, we were political associates, we were in the same camp, and in 2007, I felt the way democracy was being practiced by him was not the way I understood democracy to be practiced, so I took an option to opt out”. Agbaje said traffic situation has gotten worse, waste management has been abandoned, and he called on Lagosians to choose between one man’s Lagos and the people’s Lagos. https://www.thecable.ng/agbaje-tinubu-is-my-friend-but-id-free-lagos-from-alphabeta |
Very good. The way Nigerians hold these mere mortal men never ceases to surprise and ache my heart. Some believe as far as it's coming from Daddy GO, he's infallibly right and shouldn't be questioned. It's very necessary to accord them the respect due to them, but outright hero worship is a no-no for me. |
Wrong statement. I don't like the braggadaccio statements coming from APC politicians and their supporters on the social media. They seem so confident of winning the election that they're mocking everyone who thinks otherwise and vowing it's not possible for PDP to win, including the president and his vice. This was how all the American media houses wrote off Trump in 2016 only for him to win at the end. Anything is possible, including a rerun between Atiku and Buhari leading to an Atiku win. |
codedguy1:But the guy's comment says northerners would vote for Buhari because he's also a northerner and a Muslim, as if his opponent is a Christian and a southerner. So I still insist that that comment is not objective. |
eyeview:I can't see any objectivity in this post. Atiku - what tribe and religion does he belong to. Remind me if you know. |
Juliusmalema:Ipobexposed, you're back? |
Nice initiative. But Buhari that we know is a very slow, ineffective somebori, so next year is not feasible at all (that's if he wins re-election). Ordinary yearly budget....he cannot send it to NASS in September so that it can be passed by December, is it a whole new banking legislation that'll become a reality over night? |
Say no to fake news or fake headlines. Where's the blasting here and where's did he mention Jubril? |
OK |
Liar! I'm beginning to see through this woman's hypocrisy and corruption. She knows the woman. She has been using her as a mole to receive gifts just the same way Patience amassed her own wealth through gifts and kickbacks. |
Liar! Only if some people know that this man is a closet atheist who's scared of coming out fully to say he is one. ![]() ![]() |
Richdad50:This meme is becoming stale, bro. |
Aside the three currently in jail right now, most of these governors would have been behind bars if we'd had a functioning judiciary. If PDP should win next year, I hope they're able to also to jail at least three former governors. Little by little, those packs of wolves will be reducing. |
HigherEd:Forget about Oyedepo for now, let's talk about your own failure to see satire in the piece. The beginning of the article reads: "Since 2017, so goes the tale reportedly originated by the fugitive leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) Nigeria has been ruled by a Buhari look-alike, Jubril al Sudan".Then this one too: Kanu, or whoever began the tale, and those who have been peddling it, should update their material. Now, you still cannot see the satire there? |
Very good. I still stand on my point that Deji's arrest is in order and is on his way to conviction. You need to check out that guy's tweets and Facebook posts to see how acidic they are and full of fake news. |
eyeview:Lies. Deji has always been a PDP member. In fact he was their social media manager. He was using it to spread so much hate, fake news and bitterness that PDP decided to sack him in 2016 or thereabouts. |
Temporary release because he deserves at least a three year jail term for fake news and hate speech crimes. The way he dishes fake news of fake boko haram attacks on Twitter you'll think he either leaves in Borno or is in the military. And not to mention other fake news he broadcast and the inciting words he uses. There has to be a difference between free speech and hate speech. Even US and Europe prosecute people for such, and we think à fledgling democracy like ours can survive by tolerating hate speeches by the likes of Reno, FFK, El Rufai, etc? topstone4:How does arresting somebody and charging him to court constitue human rights abuse? Jerryembassy91:It's very unfortunate that that's what you're praying for yourself. May God have mercy upon you. foreshore:Shut up!!! Didn't you see me mention el Rufai in my comment? Kingubong:Do ask yourself that question and see if the answer would come positive, because you didn't make any rational point by this sauceless comment. |
We only hear about this guy on Nairaland. Not even on Facebook ad or Twitter will you see a mention of him. He seem to me like a big joker - an unserious person! Cc: bilms, mrright, pls stop spamming Nairaland with this faceless, untrustworthy man who was busy assassinating the character of Durotoye because he lost out in the primary. ![]() |
Everyone knows Peter Obi is not just a transformative, and non-corrupt leader, but also a Spartan manager of resources. Had Atiku chosen Ekweremadu, APC would have gone to sleep, knowing the corruption tag on both Atiku and him will be an enough turnoff for many Nigerians not to vote PDP. |
Hmmmm...Saying that I was disappointed and disgusted that an educated and highly exposed and learned person as him would make such comment - is an understatement. But I don't blame him much. There's a saying that when a lie has been repeated and rehashed for a long time, people will start getting pushed to believe it as truth. Kanu who was disappointed that the dream he had that Buhari died (which emboldened him to tell his members that Buhari would not come back), didn't turn true, decided to spin the tale to confuse his gullible followers, in order to save face. |
..... I was not broke when I meet her, but during the period I was dating her everything was cool and she always tax me for money. I would not really say that I was dating her because my mind wasn't really on her of which she knows but I was just playing along. she knows I don't love or really like her. That you didn't post this on Romance section shows you know it might be a spiritual case. If both of you were eating the fruit meant for married people, just forget it because that's already sinful and every advise you'll receive here will not be useful to you. |
From the snippets I saw from the new electoral act, it is a beautiful piece of legislation. If it had been in place before the primary, Col. Oshiomole would not have had the power to be disqualifying candidates with baseless reasons, and sometimes no reason at all - as if he owns the party. |
Buterflyle0:You see what blind following and 5 months of politics has done to you, à so-called practicing Christian? Made you a tribal bigot, a liar and a hâter. Stop embarrassing yourself, Mr man. |
It's a complete scam. Why I know this so-called Trader Moni is a scam is their taking it to markets and giving it to people who are already in business. What can ₦10k do for a woman whose business is already worth ₦200k+? At least all the photos shown so far point to this. |
The difference between this and our current politicians is that it's very likely that each one had only a single one which contrasts sharply with the garage of super cars our dear Dino currently flaunts. |
Laundering them on behalf of one Nigerian politician most likely than not. An ordinary mule been used to convey stolen money. Sadly the only good news about this is that the cash will be ceased while the man escapes because our courts are allergic to convicting and jailing financial rogues. |
Were it not for some of the good things about this government I'd have wished it loses this election to PDP because of Buhari's callous insensitivity to people's plight - Benue, Plateau, and other victims of herdsmen and boko haram attacks. One of the most noticeable and endearing qualities of a leader is the ability to be empathetic. Buhari totally lacks that. |
And that's how FFK missed out on this juicy appointment. Dude was most likely rehearsing how he was going to be releasing his stupid, acidic statements only to be bypassed for Dino. |
This is insane and absurd to say the least. How can we be in perennial darkness and this people are planning on selling same highly constrained power to a neighbouring country? |
Can we get it to around $60bn before March 2019? . At least that'll afford Atiku enough money to spend when he takes over in May? ![]() |
