amoduokoh: UR points are good bro.. BUT for me, Nigeria is not ripe for state policing YET. My points are as follows:
1. FUNDS: Almost all states are finding it very difficult to pay their workers salary... Police cannot afford to takee that. Well local and state govts should be forced to raise there own revenue and run there own districts by themselves. That's how things work in developed countries. Policing is left to local govt and that's how its supposed to be in Nigeria. 2. State/Local police will be use to oppress the oppositions or minorities. And this is why judges and police commissioners at the local and state level should be elected by the people like they also do abroad that way they are accountable to the people and not the governors that appointed them. |

He frequently turns to outside friends and former business colleagues for advice and positive reinforcement. Senior aides say they are resigned to it.
The president has been at loggerheads with many news organizations since his election campaign and decided not to attend the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington on Saturday because he felt he had been treated unfairly by the media.
"I would come next year, absolutely," Trump said when asked whether he would attend in the future.
The dinner is organized by the White House Correspondents' Association. Reuters correspondent Jeff Mason is its president.

He had copies for each of the three Reuters reporters in the room.
Trump, who said he was accustomed to not having privacy in his "old life," expressed surprise at how little he had now. And he made clear he was still getting used to having 24-hour Secret Service protection and its accompanying constraints.
"You're really into your own little cocoon, because you have such massive protection that you really can't go anywhere," he said.
When the president leaves the White House, it is usually in a limousine or an SUV.
He said he missed being behind the wheel himself.
"I like to drive," he said. "I can't drive any more."
Many things about Trump have not changed from the wheeler-dealer executive and former celebrity reality show host who ran his empire from the 26th floor of Trump Tower in New York and worked the phones incessantly. |

hahahahhaha, he never start. Exclusive: Trump says he thought being president would be easier than his old life By Stephen J. Adler, Jeff Mason and Steve Holland | WASHINGTON
He misses driving, feels as if he is in a cocoon, and is surprised how hard his new job is.
President Donald Trump on Thursday reflected on his first 100 days in office with a wistful look at his life before the White House.
"I loved my previous life. I had so many things going," Trump told Reuters in an interview. "This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier."
A wealthy businessman from New York, Trump assumed public office for the first time when he entered the White House on Jan. 20 after he defeated former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in an upset.
More than five months after his victory and two days shy of the 100-day mark of his presidency, the election is still on Trump's mind. Midway through a discussion about Chinese President Xi Jinping, the president paused to hand out copies of what he said were the latest figures from the 2016 electoral map.
"Here, you can take that, that's the final map of the numbers," the Republican president said from his desk in the Oval Office, handing out maps of the United States with areas he won marked in red. "It’s pretty good, right? The red is obviously us." |

Suga4ya: My ex and I were together for 1year. He didn't treat me right in the beginning, but after I called him out on it he began to make amends. Nevertheless, the damage was done and I resented him for his prior mistreatment towards me. In time he started to fall for me, but I couldn't get over his earlier treatment, so I began treating him badly as well. Eventually, he got tired of me not prioritizing him and he left. I was heartbroken, and went through the usual 'don't realize what you have until it's gone' phase. So I tried to win him back, but to no avail. He wanted to be friends, so I agreed. The friendship wasn't working, because you can't just switch from a relationship to a friendship immediately. Anyway, the breakup slowly started to take a toll on me, I couldn't eat, sleep, or function effectively. I realized that the only way I could get over him is if we went our separate ways. So I sent him a goodbye email. It was very sweet, wishing him luck in life and all the good things I'll miss about him, but he did not respond. Fellaz, I need you on this, why would you not respond to a goodbye email? Why not even acknowledge the fact that you received it, and respond with a farewell as well? Please inform. Thanks. Well he should not respond because he is your ex. Duh! |
Romance › Re: Ladies...let's Share Our No Make Up Picx... by davidif: 2:48am On Apr 25, 2017 |
5DMindset: Good morning too, to be frank, nothing appeals to me these days than seeing a lady with natural face without these layers of primer, foundation, powdered cakes and multiple layers of coloration of make-up and make-overs. I am just tired of people hiding their real identities under the mask. I think beyond the fashion of make-up, I think there is a shame they are hiding by attempting to hide in a different look.
I went to a strip club one night, and a lady walked in, I saw a lady walk in and of all the creatures in this Lekki, I havent seen such wonderful looking creature. How wonderful ? She had this natural organic hair combed out, I mean this hair was not relaxed, our natural African hair, about 4 inches long, not low cut, she combed it up and the hair stood up. She no no no single make up, fair, African lady with mini-skirt, crop-top exposing just enough stomach to make me go ga-ga, and I guess others too. Then an over layer front open coat-like simple fabric just to create an illusion that she is fully dressed from the back.
For the first time in my life, I felt like asking a girl out, of my decades in this world, I have never asked a girl out. I usually dont, but this was just a natural woman. I dont know if my ex-girl noticed my observation, cos she asked me if she should call the girl for me to have a dance with, and I said okay.....This girl turned me down, not that I know how to dance,...Hell fuccking NO...I dont know how to dance, and I dont even want to know, I just needed a minute to tell the girl how great she was and how I will be happy to have her around me even as staff or friend or something. Just to see that natural look often.
Well, nature played a great game, that night was a night I knew that my angels always work in my favor, cos as luck will have it, I left the club with my then girl, and was about drive out when I realized someone parked behind and blocked my way out. The guards were rushing to find the owner of the car when I see this girl coming out, to into Hotel with her friends, I rushed to my truck and got my card. Slip it into her hand and whispered 'please call me' to her. The way she held tight to the card, I knew she was going to call. That night I received a call within 30 minutes from her, and I was excited, next morning I drove to the Hotel and realized she came with friends and had to book the night into the hotel as they couldnt go back. I asked her, to keep calling me for the next 3 months, cos I may not have the chance to see as I have trips to make but in 3 months, if she is patient I should reward her patience. Trust me as nature would have it, she was the one dialing almost always.
3 months later, I invited her to my home, and that one month of spending time with me, was the most transformational time in my life. I learnt that happiness is free and money cant truly buy it but can create environment for Happiness, Joy and Love to evolve. But behind this beauty was the most complex character of victimization. As I later found out, she was with a fiancee who has been abusive to her and she actually ran away from him that night to hang out with friends just to clear her head. The no make-up and no making of hair was because she couldnt afford.
My Point to this story, young lady is: African women MUST realize that, how you look naturally, is perfect. You should not on the account of having money to waste, waste that beauty. Clean up the skin real good, with scrub, drink 4liters of water a day and take your fruits and vitamins. You do not need much carbohydrates and fatty food. Cos you do not need the muscles. Do not go with natural look just because you have not gotten money, go without make up when you have money, so you can master self-confidence even when you have not.
My new girl has started making up and wearing long hair after I started taking care of her with monthly allowance, and that itself ruined that relationship in my head, I am not connected to women with make-up. I am a naturalist. So you see, not all men fancy the craze of artificially induced multi-layered coloration in the name of beauty. I personally, want to see clean skin, very clean skin, very very clean face without paints except may be a little eyes penciling just enough to me make go ga-ga.
What more can I ask for ? Nature is beautiful. So are you. Abeg, if you are not interested, tell her to come my way. |

Family › Re: Best Way To Discipline A Child Without Spanking by davidif: 4:29pm On Apr 24, 2017 |
mifavour: Spanking, beating, flogging or caning is a common method of disciplining children in Nigeria. In fact caning used to be very common in Nigerian schools before the practice was abandoned. Most Nigerian disciplinarians will tell you that spanking a child is the best method of discipline. While many parents would choose to believe that spanking is effective, the physical act of hitting a child also has its negative consequences. Spanking can cause anger, aggression, and resentment, can cause physical harm, and most often does not teach the lesson you are trying to convey. Spanking a young child or toddler for example demonstrates to him or her that it’s all right for people to hit people, and especially for big people to hit little people, and stronger people to hit weaker people. There is a common story told about the mother who believed in spanking as a necessary part of discipline until one day she observed her 3 -year-old daughter hitting her one-year-old son. When confronted, her daughter said, “I’m just playing mommy.” This mother never spanked another child again. Parents of toddlers often notice that their child beats others or beats them back when they are spanked. This is because children love to imitate, and they imitate people whom they love and respect. They believe that it’s okay for them to do whatever you do. While the choice of disciplining your child is yours to make, you should note that there are various other ways to discipline your child without spanking and some of them are listed below. 1.Positive Reinforcement Rewarding good behavior is effective in increasing good behavior and in reducing unwanted behavior. Positive reinforcement relies on you going out of your way to praise positive behavior (for example, thank your child for helping with something, comment on how nice and quiet your child has been for the last half hour, etc.). It is very easy to overlook when your child is being good and only notice when they do something wrong. 2. Ignoring Unwanted Behaviour A parent only has so much energy and really cannot beat a child for every single thing he or she does. What we pay attention to is what we get more of. So a parent can ignore the behaviour for as long as it lasts unless it gets dangerous. Ignoring unwanted behavior saves a parent’s strength for bigger issues without having to beat the child. Some behaviours that may be ignored include whining, nagging, demanding things in shops or supermarkets, crying for attention (when plenty of positive attention is already given) etc. 3. Time outs Time-out is a term for a form of punishment that involves temporarily separating a child from an environment where inappropriate behavior has occurred. Experts recommend that this form of discipline be used when a child is 2 years of age or older. At that age, toddlers are starting to understand cause and effect and time outs will work. 4. Using Your Child’s Currency You can use what your child values e.g. it could be a toy, a particular activity, or even a privilege like getting to stay awake to a particular hour to produce positive behaviour. Once you understand what your child values, you can withdraw positive things (taking away the toy, video game, phone etc.) or introduce negative things (making them take a time-out, go to bed early) as a form of discipline. 5. The Point System Give points for good behavior and take away points for bad behavior. In some homes, accumulated “points” can even be traded in for rewards. In other homes, privileges are based on behaviour, and dropping below a certain point level may cause a loss of privileges. Even Americans have found out that a lot of this things don't work but you Africans want to adopt there lifestyle in the name of civillization hahahah. |

Politics › Re: No To Tyrannical Governors, Yes To Local Government Autonomy (read bold parts) by davidif: 9:54am On Apr 24, 2017 |
Blue3k: Intro: Local government as the third tier of government has be starved by policies of State government by the diversion of fund, illegal deduction, and usurpation of powers. The coercive relationship between these tiers of government has led to failure of the Local government in its constitutional enshrined duties. The local government by the way the constitution is written doesn’t allow for the proper fiscal autonomy that would be necessary in federal system of governance. To ensure development Local governments, require fiscal and administrative autonomy to guarantee efficacy accountability and transparency to the citizens in their jurisdiction. Background: Local governments are closest to the populace so the offer the most efficient means of service delivery. This is due the fact to the fact they will notice ground level issues concerns. The mandates of local government are to carry out the delivery of said services and ensure grassroots development. Two major schools of thoughts to consider are the efficiency theory and developmental theory.
“The Developmental School, sees local government as a system that can bring about political integration in developing societies that are ethnically plural and diffuse. Where local sentiments and local attachments are very strong, local governments can use these positively to advance national growth (Ola 2007). The School is of the view that at the expense of overstressing its local peculiarities, local government becomes an instrument for national awareness and national consciousness. It can stimulate initiative, encourage drive and experimentation, identify available local skills, interests and abilities and see or get them developed in the general interest (Ola 2007).”
“The efficiency argues that what is central and important to the local government the achievement of success in providing quality services to its residents. The crux of theory therefore is that the predominant purpose for establishing local government is to provide services to the local population (Fatile, Majekodunmi, Oni & Adejuwon (2013). The foremost advocate of this theory is Langood (1953). The efficient-services theorists hold that the local government occupies the best position for the efficient performance of certain functions. This is as a result of the fact that they are the government that is closest to the people, and also the fact that they cater for a smaller population when compared to the state or federal governments. As argued by Sharpe (cited in Ola and Tonwe, 2009) the local government is the most efficient agent for the provision of those local services that they have responsibility to provide.”
In the 1999 constitution, Local government is given defined powers and authority with provisions made to them from State and federal government. Statutory functions are listed in the fourth schedule of the constitution include provision and maintenance of health services; agricultural and national resource development; provision and maintenance of primary, adult and vocational education and other functions as may be conferred on it by the state house of assembly.
Relationship and case studies: The relationship between State and Local Governments is one of subjection. This is done through the State Joint Local Government Account that serves the undermine the local government. Illegal deductions, diversions of funds or simply usurping Local government function by awarding contracts on behalf of local government without their approval. There are many examples of illegal deductions of Local government money including that of Borno, Ondo, Lagos and Nassarawa.
“Ubani notes that: “Lagos state government constructed parks in various parts of the state with money deducted from the state and local government Joint Revenue Account. In Ondo state, government constructed a modern motor park in Akure, the state capital” (2012, p.1). Actions such as these contradict the provisions of the 1999 constitution, which provides that these projects ought to have been executed by local government.”
“According to Dlakwa (2004:121), between March 2002 and March 2003 a total of N13.3bn was available for councils in Borno State. Out of this amount the state government deducted almost half (see Table 1).”
“In November 2009, ‘the total allocation for the 20 LGs in Ogun State was N1.7 billion. But Daniel gave us N700 million, which was less than half of what was due to us. ’Before then, Oladunjoye and some of his colleagues had written to Daniel ‘to deduct only what is statutory from our allocation and specifically the amount of money due to the teaching and non-teaching staff of the Local Government Education Authority, LGEA. ’According to Oladunjoye, nothing came out of that. ‘For example, my bill for LGEA was about N28 million monthly, but the governor was deducting N39 million. That is N11 million in excess. With N11 million, I could build two or three community health centres every month. I was angry. Why should state government pay primary school teachers on our behalf? Was the federal government paying secondary school teachers on behalf of the state government?’ (Akaeze 2012, p.3).”
The Joint Allocation and Account Committee (JAAC) allows State Governments inordinate control. Most JAAC are composed of State government appointees instead of Local government. The Local government councils are hardly consulted and represented as in case of Ondo. All this transpires while State governments don’t contribute 10% IGR allocation to local governments.
Conclusion: The performance of local government to the development of Nigeria has been abysmal so far even with all the money allocated for it. The constitution needs to be amended to make this important tier of government effective to carry out duties. Full Fiscal autonomy necessary and this goal can be accomplished by getting rid of following rules. • Abolish State Joint Local Government Account • Abolish Joint Allocation and Account Committee • Direct allocation into Local government accounts • Transparency in Local government affairs (fiscal and administrative) • Fiscal Autonomy (pass budgets without approval of State governments) • Local Government need to improve IGR

Toks2008: There is nothing like side dude here...
This is not about me but about her...no lady should keep two dates so stop twisting my write up...a lady should remain SEXUALLY faithful and disciplined with one man but keeping her option open means not flaunting that guy in her life or singing to every guy that comes her way that she is taken but must learn how to maintain surface and cordial friendship with other suitors....is this too hard to decipher? Since when did having sex with someone validate a relationship? Ehn? The fact that you are not having sex with someone in a relationship does not mean you are not dating each other. If i am dating a girl and we are not having sex, her going behind my back and dating someone else (even if they are not having sex) is still CHEATING bro. Its dishonesty and deceit period. No matter how you try to justify it she is still cheating on you.

Toks2008: If you are not smart enough to know that a lady can be with just a guy yet tactfully keep her options open then I'm sorry I can't help you out.
The mistake many ladies make is that they lack the ability to maintain surface friendship but once they are into one guy...to them every other guy does not exist which should not be so... Its not about being smart, its about being transparent. You still have not answered my first question. How would you feel if you were the side dude in a relationship? |

Toks2008: Lol! so you are not smart enough to know that you don't have to cheat to keep your option open...this is serious...Smartness is a gift only few people have. So its fine for your girl to be dating you and 3 other guys at the same time because she wants to "keep her options open?". |

Romance › Re: White Girl With A Nigerian Boyfriend But His Parents Won't Allow It: by davidif: 5:22am On Apr 24, 2017 |
Galaxy88: I am a white girl and i have been seeing a Nigerian guy who is 3 years older than me for about a year now and things have been going well and we recently started talking about getting serious. Then he starting acting strange and when i confronted him he told me he had been holding something back which was causing him to act like that.
His parents were both born and raised in Nigeria and he is their only son and have always been very strict with him as he was growing up. He does not have a close relationship with him even though they live in the same house and they don't really speak to each other. A few weeks ago they sat him down and said that he cannot ever bring a white girl home and they would not even attend his wedding if his bride was white. His mother wants him to marry a black woman but his dad said only a Nigerian girl will do. His dad even said he cannot bring any white person into his home.
So now he feels totally torn and feels he has to choose as there is no point us continuing if he cannot stand up to his parents and tell them about me. He said he is scared to be disowned by his family which i understand. I have said that i will be there and support him what ever he decides but he does need to make a decision as there are feelings involved.
I personally feel that if if he doesn't stand up for himself he will be making a decision out of fear which is not what God tells us to do. I also think that God should be the first person he answers to and he should always respect his parents but the decision comes out of their racist view which is a sin. Finally if he allows them to make this decision for him now they will continue to play a part in his decision making forever and he wont learn to make hard decisions in the future and how can he run a home and a family.
I care about him deeply and i know it is ultimately his decision but i imagine being british i dont fully understand his culture and i doubt his family are willing to speak with me about it and i wanted to see if anyone else had any views or advice on the subject, ? What tribe is he? |
