Business › Re: 5 Annoying Things Anyone That Uses A Nigerian Bank Can Understand by davidif: 3:14am On Apr 24, 2017 |
Opinionated: Banking in Nigeria has greatly advanced. In the past, you will find long queues but today the opposite is the case. Many of them have embraced technology and have simplified the banking process. Regardless, there are still some annoying things that these banks do that are very frustrating. In line with this, Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency shares some of these things.
Asking you to bring utility bill to open an account
Whenever you visit a bank in Nigeria to open an account, you are asked to bring a utility bill to confirm your address. Sometimes you begin to wonder, what you really need a utility bill for when you have BVN. BVN has every information about an individual including the fingerprints. You cannot change your fingerprint but you can change your address.
They deduct your money due to unnecessary charges
You know one of the annoying alerts you get every month are the charges from your bank. The way some banks remove your money will tempt you to go to the bank to withdraw all of it and transfer it to another one.
They cannot process your complaint because your names are different
If you use two names in one document and use three names in another document, some banks will never accept or process the document from you. They will tell you the process may get stuck because of the name difference.
You have to wait for days when the ATM refuses to dispense money and you have been debited
A faithful morning, you use the ATM of another bank to withdraw but the ATM refuse to dispense and your account is debited. Just be prepared for a long battle with your bank because you will not get your money back in 24 hours. First, you have to complain to your bank for them to reverse and depending on the bank, it can take weeks or months. If you don’t have money, you are on your own for that day. The question is why can’t they reverse it immediately?
And you need money urgently and they tell you ‘no network’
You don’t have money and you have tried several ATMs and they are not dispensing cash. You have no choice than to withdraw money at your bank. You walk into your bank and they tell you that there is no network, you will just get frustrated. The annoying thing is that if there is no network at that branch, it will be same at other branches. And without the network, they cannot do anything! Just start praying that the network comes back!
Source: http://www.opinions.ng/5-annoying-things-nigerian-ban/ This is why i wish foreign banks would flood into Nigeria so that they can put this amateurs out of business. Our banking sector needs competition. |

WORLDPEACE: Instead of keeping your options open when you are already in a relationship why don't you instead be sure the person is ready for marriage before you date him. If he does not take the step in a short time after the dating has begun you free him. That way you don't cheat on anyone. All this keeping options open is just another way of encouraging women to be female dogs. I know a girl with this mentality who thinks she is dating my friend meanwhile we know she has a bunch of other guys she is also dating. She came to visit and he slept with her and after that he has not been able to get into her pants again, but it does not change the fact that he has had his way once. This while she was surely sleeping with other people. However another friend of mine got married 2015. What impressed him and myself including was the fact that when he met his wife she said she was with someone and she did not want to double date. She told my friend not to call her that she would call him only after she had ended that relationship. That was exactly what she did. They did not even speak on the phone once during the weeks before she ended the relationship. We both valued her for it and she was taken seriously by him. He was not even looking for a wife but my guy was just impressed by her values. All this keeping your options open just muddies up the water and make women loose their values.

2dugged: just like the op has stated, this is one of the things causing delayed marriages in women, I remember a relationship expert talking about keeping your options open, from experience, I remember about 4 guys I turned down for my ex,infact I didn't even want to be friends with them cos in my naive little mind, I didn't want to "emotionally cheat", and now, they are married and my ex and I broke up. ladies wise up, a man who is ready doesn't need a decade to consult his ancestors if you are the one or not, that's a fact,If after two years,he not showing signs of commitment, throw him the question and if his answer isn't satisfactory, walk away o So you mean that all the time, your intuition or your internal alarm bells were not warning you but you refused to ignore them? |

https://www.nairaland.com/3753080/get-marriage-proposal-women-should <<<This thread was trying to say same thing...women should keep their options open, though it advised women to sleep with multiple men, which is wrong. Without reading through or getting its implicit meaning, lots of people started bashing, calling it advanced oloshoism.
I don't support unnecessary flaunting, but I am all for full concentration is a relationship. When you keep the so called options open, you make room from distractions. Humans are emotional beings...slowly, things begin to go wrong. You better stop following all this pathetic advice you see on nairaland if you don't want to be decieved. Toks2008: You ask an obviously unmarried lady out and she says "sorry I'm in a relationship" and many ladies will quickly change their status on their social media handle to...."in a relationship or Engaged" ...worse still some will go as far as putting up the pics of a man who is not yet officially theirs and I keep wondering what goes on in the minds of some ladies ..
Shall we call that being faithful or being naive?
Every lady reading this should wake up and understand that until a man is officially married to you,he can not be trusted in anyway and that a man is even engaged to you does not guaranty marriage
Each time you tell a guy who asks you out that you are taken while still unmarried, you are simply shutting the door on yourself too soon and many ladies have shut out their husbands simply because they got carried away by an unserious man who is only good at mouthing their love and giving them forlorn hope.
Don't get it twisted, this is not about being unfaithful to that particular guy you truly desire but it is about tactfully leaving your options open by not flaunting him on or offline thereby driving away possibly more willing suitors.
Many ladies remain taken for years without wedding bells and I have seen several ladies who have been engaged for years.
The bottom line is that you should stop flaunting any guy you are courting and only flaunt your husband
Ladies should stop blocking their chance cos In the real world...there is no in between and there is no such word like "I'm taken" while you are still unmarried.
You are either single or married
Don't know if this makes sense. Pathetic thread. Encouraging women to cheat. How low of you. Its no wonder so many women are confused when its time to settle down: they have been playing the field for so long forgetting that a life of deceit eventually comes to bite you. |

MabraO: That's what's London school of economics will tell u But Nigerian school of economics will tell u otherwise. Check price of garri e never come down despite dollar came down from 520 to 390 Dude, i don't think you know how costly the CBN's attempt to prop up the naira is. I will try to explain it in simple terms. To appreciate the naira, the cbn has to sell the dollars it has so that it can buy the excess naira in the market because the lesser the amount of naira floating around the the more the value appreciates. Its basic supply and demand. The value of something is based on the demand for it and the supply. If the demand is high and there is not enough supply it leads to scarcity which in turn pushes up the value (price) of the good. This is what the cbn is doing. They are wasting dollars to keep there currency afloat. Now all this sounds good and noble until you realize that your reserves are not infinite and that they eventually run out. For a better example, you should look at what's happening in Venezuela right now (or Argentina in 2000 and Thailand in the 90's). There cbn has almost used up there external reserves. It was 30.1 billion dollars in 2011 but today its now around 10 billion and to make matters worse, oil prices have gone down meaning that they cant really replenish there reserves at the same rate anymore. In other words, you are spending much more than you are making. Oh and one more thing, don't forget that Nigeria has debts and this debts come with interest and they are not cheap. In fact, it is estimated that we are paying close to 30% of our revenue on the interest those debts so when you add all this together you know that Nigeria is not necessarily in the best place financially. http://money.cnn.com/2016/08/03/news/economy/venezuela-running-out-of-cash/ |

MabraO: If Dey allow market determines it that means we go dey buy pure water 2k per sachet Things will eventually stabilize bro. That's how the market works. Besides we can't keep burning through our reserves to artificially prop up the naira because money is not an infinite resource - it eventually runs out and for those who know how central banks work, the amount of firepower a central bank has is mostly based on the level of its foreign reserves. |

In addition to the well known social issues of illiteracy and innumeracy, there also should be such a concept as “immappancy”, meaning insufficient geographical knowledge. A survey with random American schoolkids let them guess the population and land area of their country. Not entirely unexpected, but still rather unsettling, the majority chose “1-2 billion” and “largest in the world”, respectively. Even with Asian and European college students, geographical estimates were often off by factors of 2-3. This is partly due to the highly distorted nature of the predominantly used mapping projections (such as Mercator). A particularly extreme example is the worldwide misjudgement of the true size of Africa. This single image tries to embody the massive scale, which is larger than the USA, China, India, Japan and all of Europe combined! http://kai.sub.blue/images/True-Size-of-Africa-kk-v3.pdf |
