PoliticsRe: How Buhari’s Slow Pace Is Affecting The War Against Boko Haram! by dBard: 10:26pm On Jul 11, 2015
Granted, the previous gov't was not aggressive early enough to tackle the boko haram insurgency But it's on record that in the last 2+months prior to may 29, there was massive reclaimation of lost territory and the insurgency was practically a thing of the past..That momentum SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUSTAINED. This lull/lethargic approach so far is causing a resurgence and this I.m.o is even more disturbing esp with the recent alliance with Daesh and the change in the modus operandi if allowed to fester might grow into a far more difficult monster.

My dear lady, I'd like to state that abhor aggression towards women. However this view isn't shared by groomed aggressors. Have a great day!
The thing is ppl won't get it until they see it happen. It's something psychologists can't even explain....and it ain't 'character'. That frankly is just naive to me.

One mistake PMB made I.m.o was moving the central command and Not being decided on d future of the service chiefs. The two actions/inaction has ensured an effective lethargy/grounding of the war effort.
Terrorist organizations thrive on propaganda and as long as their evil activities keep getting reported, they'll keep on growing.

Thanks for behaving like a gentleman and I will address you same way...

1)NO LAW allows for Jonathan to obtain approval from FAAC before withdrawals from ECA...if anything at all, ECA is alien to the constitution... it is not known to that document hence governors always use court to blackmail presidents into sharing such funds in ECA...It is a morally justified account but unconstitutional too...thanks bro
Tnx..just trying to understand both sides.
Point taken, but if that is so, what stops the president using it as his personal 'go to' accounthuh Cos, this is where I n probably a lot of odas have issues.

Maybe if she had backed up dis lengthy piece of blabberdash with scriptures as she claims to be a Christian, I would've been interested.
All she's said in this write up is; we're gay, tolerate us after all Ur christians and we've,now, the backing of D constitution.

If she truly is a christian, den she must be reading an edited, summarized version of the Bible, else she would've come across 1corinthians6:9-11 and Leviticus20:13..which is clear on God's stance.

Homosexuality rubbishes the very foundation of society n legalizing same-sex marriage is a strike at this foundation, and if the foundation is weak, how can d building stand, wat will become of society.

I personally 've no issues with homosexuals, 've worked or have bin friends with a couple but, as a Christian and an African, this is simply WRONG..

blackpanda:
But I thot its the people that voted and chose the party? So if a party member refuses to follow the party, how does that help democracy?

If party can not control its members, then our democracy is dead on arrival because humans are naturally selfish and will only do that which will personally favour them.

If party can not control its members, that means the people can not control the members as well. Party looks at the broader picture as against the members that are just in for their own selfish reasons.
Point taken, but d party's wish doesn't necessarily mirror d people's wish, and don't forget, in most instances, ppl vote individuals irrespective of party affiliations.
Putting d party supreme over d wishes of D masses / national interest, negates what democracy is meant to be.

HungerBAD:
I don't know why i had always assumed that you are a mature person on Nairaland, maybe it is because of the way you write on the Politics Section. But this insult is uncalled for, and have actually shown you for what you are, a Child.

Grown ups have intellectual discuss.

Iran is designated by the United States Dept of States as being a Sponsor Of Terror( in a lay man term TERRORIST), and your question on what does the negotiation of the release of a prisoner equates to them stopping terror? everything.

The KEY word here is "NEGOTIATION"

If a terrorist organization can be negotiated with to release a prisoner, that window of opening too can be used too for the negotiation for them to renounce their ideology. When was the last time you heard that the Talibans launched an attack anywhere in the World? there are those in the terrorist realm who are actually the indoctrinators of terror ideas, make them change their minds and the followers will fall like pack of cards.

To your question that which Countries negotiates with Terrorist. All actually.

Outside the spheres of Nairaland, we actually don't know what each of us does for a living. There are Nigerians that are Nairaland Members, hold other Nationality, work for some Western Govt agencies and are very privy to a lot of information you Barcanista will find shocking if made Public, but which to a layman might sound unbelievably incredulous.

We will leave it at that.

Believe it or not, all WESTERN COUNTRIES Negotiate with Terrorists, far away from the public eyes and i will no longer comment on this topic.
Negotiation in the context u put it is quite off.
Negotiations for a prisoner swap or any of such is on a different scale than wat is bin opined here.
Even warring nations negotiate to achieve short term objectives (WW2/Cold War/Korean War.. ).
Negotiating on a much larger scale as dis, to an internationally recognized terrorist organization with links to the present, foremost terror organization Daesh, will be seen as a victory to the group n send d wrong signals to other fledgling groups out there.

....n u are wrong about the Taliban. First off, they are a regional terror organization with more or less a political objective, and Yes, they STILL do carry out attacks in India n Afghanistan..(check d news media)

Lastly, in negotiations, what will the Nigerian state offerhuh
The amnesty that was rejected before??
Or payoffs/territoryhuh

..and don't forget about their alliance with ISIS.

This isn't the best of moves I.m.o

BusinessRe: Financial Mistakes That Almost Wasted My First Five Years Of Work! by dBard: 12:18pm On Jul 03, 2015
INDESTRUCTABLEX:
That's not the absolute truth. I will explain.
Back then in school, at 100l, my allowance was 20k. I noticed that at the 3rd week I was always broke and would have to borrow from friends. What was the cause? I always had quarrels with my roommates and would leave in anger to spend the night in a lecture room. This went on for 3 months.

Second semester I changed my plans. No matter what happened I stayed in the room. That same person who couldn't save a dime survived and took a professional course on web design. I paid for it with 2 months allowance.

Human wants are insatiable. I can survive with 5k a week, 10k, 2k, and even 0k. I hardly keep or carry cash. As long as you have garri, yam, bread, beans, rice, you are good to go. Remember, there are people earning less than you do and they are surviving.

Survive today, make sacrifices, and live tomorrow.
My 2 cents.
Very nice points.
Just to add to it, the above requires a lotta sacrifice which many may not have. Best ways to ensure u save, esp salary wise, may be to join a cooperative (which ensures a particular amount gets saved every month) or one of the numerous assurance houses around with their savings plans.
That way, once you've taken care of feeding, basic needs n miscellaneous allowances, the remainder gets saved.

Also, the money saved should be used to 'secure' the future.. Land, personal house and other long-term projects.
Getting an alternative source of revenue, no matter how small, it helps.

My N100..

Are you inadvertently saying that Nigerians would have tolerated the same issue you're beguiled about had expectations not been high?

Secondly, that phrase "what we have passed through at GEJ's hands" is a largely subjective one, or don't you think?

The difference between those who hold that assertion and those who don't is a mere 3+ million ("mere" when looked at in comparison to our population).

GEJ had his flaws and shortcomings, no doubt.
But I still think of him as the best thing that's happened to our democracy and by extension, our country.
It's annoying wen ppl keep making excuses for inefficiency just to justify their campaign choices.
I didn't care for GEJ in the first election, but btw GEJ n Buhari, I personally felt GEJ (-PEJ) would have been a better choice.

Ppl keep advocating for patience, while we're bin patient...
The economy has taken a downturn n d exchange rate is increasing,
Fuel is not bin imported anymore n fuel stations are shutting down all over the country,
Investors are becoming disillusioned n withdrawing,
The army has lost their initiative and Boko Haram is stepping up, once again, their campaign,
The national assembly is riddled with crises....

The right approach at the wrong time can lead to disaster.

Think we might need to start fasting and praying again f dis country, cos.....
