Ushman333:Exactly. When new face Olu Falae contested against old Face Obasanjo in 1999, those who now claim only new face can save Nigeria voted for old Face Obasanjo. I just enjoy the comic relief I see from the advocates of "We are tired of old faces". |
mrkia:God bless you. Oshiomhole can't really claim not to know the Obaseki who served under him for 8 years. He only railroaded Obaseki back then because he wanted to spite the very Ize-Iyamu who created the ACN in Edo State and made the party offer him the 2007 ticket of the party. Oshiomhole too was an ingrate in a way and has paid dearly for it. |
Gbajure:The day Buhari naively agreed to out of court settlement with PDP, Jonathan and Reuben Abati over the suit of the threat to make Nigeria ungovernable despite all indications pointing to his victory was the day I knew that Buhari might not have the intelligence it takes to sustain and defend a political party's fortunes. |
ekhai:They are not complaining but prefer to just bear the pain because if they complain aloud they themselves know they will look stupid. |
danilmo:Don't mind them. Edo is my state but I have always said it that the average Edo person is the most sentimental and gullible in Nigeria. How a people could begin to discredit Lagos the best governed state just for political propaganda was a puzzle I couldn't unravel. Thank God today that those of us who took exception to that rubbish are vindicated. I wish there were third term in our laws I would have personally campaigned for an Obaseki stay till 2028 to allow him enough time to teach Edo people the lessons they refused to learn after lucky Igbinedion's disastrous two terms. |
Wahalaperson:A governor busy fighting everyone in the state will definitely have no time for governance. Moreover he is actually looting Edo State currently and just using the fight to divert attention away from it. |
muykem:Obaseki is not likely to ever sign the anti-open grazing bill into law in Edo State because, going by certain information making the rounds, he rears cattle by proxy. Meanwhile he has, as usual, just obtained a court injunction restraining Dan Orbih, Ogbeide Ihama and some other top PDP executives in the state from attending and voting in the PDP national convention just around the corner. |
Bellerophon:Per the bolded, Igbos are guilty of it as they foisted the said Nigerian unity on all other tribes. As at when Ahmadu Bello was nicknaming Nigeria THE MISTAKE OF 1914 and to that end demanding de-amalgamation; Awolowo was describing Nigeria as a MERE GEOGRAPHICAL EXPRESSION NOT QUALIFIED TO BE SUSTAINED AS A COUNTRY; and Tafawa Balewa describing Nigeria as a BRITISH EXPERIMENT and Nigeria's unity as a BRITISH INTENTION[b] on which Nigerians themselves reposed no faith; Azikiwe and Igbo leaders declared that; [b]THE UNITY OF NIGERIA IS PERPETUAL AND NON-NEGOTIABLE and then discredited Ahmadu Bello, Awolowo and Tafawa Balewa as agents of disunity and tribal bigots stung by the bug of ethnic chauvinism. Find in the Link below where Azikiwe and his brothers together with him in the federal parliament fought against the inclusion of secession clause in our future constitution and where Azikiwe invented the philosophy of perpetuity and non-negotiable union for Nigeria. Happy reading: https://thenewsnigeria.com.ng/2017/06/25/my-opposition-to-secession-zik/amp/ |
Biafrarep:. Yes Ironsi is responsible for my laziness and your own laziness too which presents itself as the get rich quick mentality that propels you into drug trafficking, money rituals and all other vices. Ironsi's military intervention brought about all the other military rulers. If Ironsi had exercised discipline and adhered to the oath of office he took as Army GOC to defend and protect the Independence Constitution in all circumstances, we wouldn't have ever had the other soldiers coming to power later. Nigeria was founded on mutual interethnic suspicion hence the agreement on federalism. Common sense therefore dictated that any breach of that federal arrangement would lead to a situation of total erosion of trust and a resultant dog eat dog situation which would linger on for long by way of everyone now taking advantage of the chaotic situation to his own selfish advantage without consideration for the original agreement. So your insinuation that the coming to power of other military rulers absolves Ironsi does not make sense. Ask yourself if there is any country in the world where military ever intervened in politics and the originally agreed structure of governance by the political leaders remained intact thereafter. |
Biafrarep:We all agreed to true federalism and resource control during the London1958 Constitution Conference which birthed the Independence Constitution. We practised that resource control from 1960 till 1966 when your brother Ironsi came, and in pursuit of Azikiwe's fraudulent one-Nigeria, shattered that constitution and replaced the most vital federal provisions in it with offensive centripetal decrees which took powers from the regions and deposited it at the center thus bringing about the center becoming in control of everything to the advantage of the North today. How exactly is that the fault of the Niger Deltans whom you term drunkards and idiots? Was Ironsi a Niger Deltan? |
cooljude:Your brothers don't know the value of diplomacy. Your likes are very rare among them. They will never welcome your wise counsel and wisdom based approach to the challenge in question. Your educated, civilized and decent choice of approach looks like cowardice to them. |
Biafrarep:How does this escapist rant explain why Ironsi destroyed the true federalism that would have in instilled the culture of discipline and spirit of hard work in Nigerians, thus preventing this attitude of laziness which causes drunkenness in the SS and drug trafficking and get rich quick mentality in the SE? |
stinechykee:Your sickness is that you have refused to explain exactly how Jonathan's actions and inactions as president were on behalf of Ijaws to warrant your stale and senseless argument that your support and sacrifice for his bad policies and even anti-Ijaw and anti-SS choices translated to support for Ijaw and SS interest. No sincere and honest person doesn't know that Jonathan never had Ijaw or SS interest at the bottom of his heart and that explains why the Northern caucus of APC want him to take the South's turn in addition to the fact that he can't spend more than an additional four years. I can give you ten solid and unassailable evidence for that. Jonathan was a one-Nigerianist who was pursuing Northern interests, so logically your blind support for him translated to a support for the North which you now complain against. What exactly do you Igbos want? |
stinechykee:The disease of the average Igbo man is to assume that only Yorubas are intelligent enough to reply them word for word, and fact for fact as regards their revisionist tales as to how Nigeria was derailed into this tragic and oppressive structure. Keep fooling yourselves. Your brother Ironsi sowed the seeds of this whole injustice which the SS suffers. I am not a Yoruba person. I don't speak or even understand the language. Only fools like you who can't match facts with counter facts do resort to Yoruba labelling when your propaganda and lies are bursted with hard unassailable facts. |
Biafrarep:First explain why your brother Aguiyi Ironsi subverted the independence constitution which guaranteed 50% resource control. Then we can continue the discussion from there. Idiot! |
stinechykee:So because you so much loved Jonathan, you supported whatever he did however evil and detrimental to the interest of the very South you belong to thus further strengthening the Hausafulanis political advantaged situation (e.g. the sacking of Festus Odimegwu for speaking a fundamental truth on one which the Nigerian injustice and tragedy is founded) and you now turn around to wail when the same Hausafulanis now use that strength to oppress you? Haven't you heard about nemesis and boomerang effect? How on earth do you admit to have supported a man who endorsed and encouraged oppressive policies for his political interest and you later complain of the effect of those policies? Were you expecting to reap good after knowingly supporting evil? If you people had used your closeness to Jonathan to impress it upon him to retain Festus as NPC chair with Festus conducting a technology-based census that would have reflected the true position of our demographics as he promised, don't you think this issue of Northerners domination of the legislature would have been addressed by now to the benefit of everyone, and especially you SE people? You SE people also clapped for Jonathan when he used underhand methods to remove your own brother Ogbulafor as PDP chairman for his "crime" of Insisting on adherence to the PDP zoning principle in 2011 which perhaps could have seen the PDP ticket going to the SE in 2019 or worst case scenario, 2023. So why blame Ijaws for the repercussions of your blind support for Jonathan as if Jonathan did all those things with endorsement of his own Ijaw people? Did Ijaws ever applaud Jonathan's sack of Festus Odimegwu as you Igbos did despite Festus was one of your own and spoke a candid truth? Did Ijaws ever support Jonathan's injustice to Ogbulafor who was also your own brother? You Igbos should learn to quietly live with the consequences of your choices and stop blaming other tribes. |
stinechykee:Ijaws insult you in retaliation for Kanu's and Ipob members insulting and falsely accusing them of sabotage during the war when in actual fact sabotage started by your people against the Ijaws by way of the Isaac Adaka Boro's Niger Delta Republic thwarting by Ojukwu and Ironsi. Secondly, you Igbos' agitation for referendum to purportedly allow the SS break away to enjoy their resources does not make sense to the average South-South person because the earliest secession clause motions moved in the pre-independence parliaments by Yourbas, Niger Deltans and even Northerners were frustrated by the Igbo members of that parliament added to the fact that it was still Igbos that eventually used illegal military might to subvert the independence constitution which guaranteed the same resource control you claim to have fought for on behalf of the SS. |
humilitypays:Ijaws insult you in retaliation for Kanu's and Ipob members insulting and falsely accusing them of sabotage during the war when in actual fact sabotage started by your people against the Ijaws by way of the Isaac Adaka Boro's Niger Delta Republic thwarting by Ojukwu and Ironsi. starstaz:If anything, Dokpesi is one of the foremost arrowheads of the South-South concern. He used his AIT to propagate the South-South identity, awareness and agitation into the ears and consciousness of the rest Nigerians at his own personal sacrifice. Even when Jonathan was becoming a hard sell, he deployed all his media outfits to his appologetics and image making even at the risk of AIT losing the professional appeal it had built for at least 17 years before then. His recent utterance is not an anti-South stance but a candid opinion about the non-attractiveness of the Igbo presidential ticket owing to a lot of factors which are obvious and which no Igbo person has been able to counter with superior contrary argument. |
donnie:I lost interest in this whole Niger Delta Question agitation when Jonathan, as sitting president, gave national awards of honour to mostly Northerners like IBB, Abdulsalam, Theophilus Danjuma, and Southerners like Obasanjo and the rest who plundered the wealth of the Niger Delta, and including Abacha (posthumous award) who killed Jonathan's own brother , Ken Saro Wiwa) while totally leaving out that very Saro Wiwa who started the movement that eventually culminated in him becoming president. Ironically, Jonathan named those awards as awards for contribution to nation building thus his leaving out Ken Saro Wiwa suggested that Ken Saro Wiwa's struggle was an act of nation destruction in his eyes. If Jonathan could not do anything concrete about the Niger Delta plight, I don't see why any honest Niger Deltan should still be blaming the North or Yorubas for their problem. |
NickD:Yes you have a point there in your first paragraph. We all know that Lagos is far richer than many states hence we should naturally expect more infrastructural development there than any other state. However the issue here is not just comparison of the funds available to Lagos and that available to Edo, but about whether the ratio of Available revenue to work done in Lagos is same as ratio of available revenue to ratio of work done in Edo. Lagos budget is about six times that of Edo hence by equitable standards we should expect to see in Edo at least one sixth of what obtains in Lagos. But can you beat your chest and say that the current rate of infrastructural work in Edo is anything near one sixth that in Lagos at present? It is not even up to ⅒ talkless of ⅙. During his predecessors time the the ratio of work to revenue in Edo State was quite proportionate to that in Lagos. By our laws, a governor without a cabinet cannot award contracts worth more than N100m at a time. Edo State has spent virtually the whole of this year without a cabinet meaning that this year's budget is largely unaccounted for, and this reflects in the relative dearth of infrastructural projects currently in the state. We can't remove party issue from this because it was a war between two parties back then with each claiming to be speaking the truth in pursuit of genuine public interest, and one is vindicated now while the other one is proven wrong. |
DeRay98:I hope I am not dreaming, else I can't believe there are still people peddling this stale narrative which events of the past 10 months have revealed to be a huge fraud. If I may ask you, who and who exactly were the ones doing money sharing in Edo State which Obaseki purportedly came to stop? Care mentioning their names? Are Dan Orbih and Ogbeide Ihama too asking him to share the state's resources among PDP members thus their issues with him leading to their suspension through the backdoor as usual of him? Why is Obaseki himself not currently using same narrative of PDP demanding money from him to explain away his none performance in the last ten months? You think he himself doesn't know that the scales have fallen off people's eyes as per that gimmick? If I may ask again, what was the content of the brown envelopes he distributed to the attendees of the town hall meeting he recently convoked on Anti-grazing bill in which he technically told the people that he was not ready to sign such? If he knew his position on Anti-grazing bill is in line with the people's wishes, why did he have to share brown envelopes at the end of the town hall meeting? Going by the laws, a state governor without a cabinet can't award contracts for projects above N100m. This man operated without a cabinet for nearly the whole of this year meaning that Edo State 2021 budget is not accounted for and you are here defending him with all vehemence? |
seanfer:Even Oshiomhole forgot history in 2016 to have railroaded the man to office. Worse still is the fact that he was reminded of that history by the Oba himself but in his usual stubborn attitude argued with the Oba that the historical issue happened over 100 years ago and that this is a totally different dispensation. But it didn't take long for Oshiomhole to see how utterly wrong he was and how unwise it is to claim he knew the Obaseki family more than the Oba himself the custodian of Benin history and tradition. |
Siwel25:It was a moment when a slight majority in Edo State decided to follow their hearts instead of their heads. |
NickD:You seem to have forgotten that while he was in APC, the APC family in Edo State was disatisfied with his performance and beginning from his very first year in office began to publicly discredit his style and quality of governance but the PDP argued that he was doing excellently well and that APC was complaining because he wasn't sharing money hence a Tinubu vs Ambode situation should be disallowed in Edo. So the monicker you quoted is perfectly in order. Meanwhile Lagos is growing in leaps and bounds infrastructure wise. |
hansomb:God bless you for that intelligent reply. I don't know the nexus between ipob and the issue in question. Edo is not a Biafra state, neither is Biafra agitation about education standards in Nigeria which they say they don't want to belong to anymore. |
MrCuteking:If votes don't count, then why do politicians buy votes with as much as N10,000 each during elections? |
Wahalaperson:From my study of the people that make up what we now know as Edo State, I came to the conclusion that they don't deserve good leaders. Consider how they voted out Ambrose Alli who moved big mountains within just four years and later in 1999 voted for Lucky Igbinedion whose record as Oredo Chairman was nothing to write home about, and voted him in 2003 for a second term even when they heard his biological father say loud and clear that his son's first term was a disaster, and then voted for Obaseki for second term with his poor first term record. I no longer blame Edo politicians. The Edo masses themselves are the problem of Edo State. |
Griinhoux:To me the real wonder of the world in all of it is how people in Edo State managed to fall for his campaign gimmick despite seeing his utter neglect of schools without further doing a single renovation after Oshiomhole left in 2016. |
Agness7:That is the situation of public schools all over Edo State presently. After Oshiomhole renovated a lot of them through his Red Roof Revolution (R³) program, it was expected that Obaseki would complete the remaining few and then begin to employ teachers, but all that people began to hear are EDOBEST and EDOSTAR which have left even the renovated ones beginning to decay again amidst parents, host communities or Alumni association of each of the schools levying themselves to employ teachers and pay their salaries. |
AuroraBrls:You are an irredeemable victim of moronism lacking in comprehension ability. Please which bush school did you attend in your five tiny erosion ravaged Biafraudland? Wasn't it you that began to taunt Awolowo with poisoning himself as a nemesis for working with the North and I only tried to show you the idiocy in that by asking you which is worse between that and Azikiwe's loss of over 3 million souls for the same 'crime' of collusion with the North? You are simply an idiotic half-educated savage incapable of appreciating logic. So you know it is good to be humane yet you kept on defending and exonerating Zik from the Western Region crisis which you yourself acknowledge to have caused carnage in the Western Region as if the victims of that carnage were inferior humans to those who died in Biafra War? I repeat that you are the typical idiotic Igbo man whose only sense of right and wrong is defined by his own personal interest and convenience. AuroraBrls:You are a big Buffon for the trash you typed and posted above. You don't know the principle of remote cause, right? If Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu hadn't started their madness in the first instance, would there have been any counter coup and revenge massacres which allegedly prompted Ojukwu to declare secession which sparked off the war? I can't believe I am engaging a shallow thinking idiot! You argue that the Northern revenge coupists should have just killed Nzeogwu, Ifeajuna and may be some other Igbo officers and stopped there? So you want to dictate to them the extent to which they should revenge when they didn't dictate to you the extent to which you provoked them? When Osama Bin laden killed over 3,000 persons in WTC did America ask him to advice them on what level of destruction they would do in Iraq and Afghanistan in revenge? Idiot. If you can't take blows, then don't throw blows. If at all a coup was necessary, why couldn't Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu simply remove the so called corrupt politicians from power without any bloodshed? Would there have been any reprisal pogroms in the North let alone the war if the Igbo coupists had simply avoided shedding blood in the process of executing the coup? If you were sensible and smart you would have observed that apart from that of Dimpka, all the other coups which came after the first two were bloodless hence didn't elicit any reprisal pogroms. And mind you that Dimka's own didn't elicit genocide against his plateau people because in addition to his kinsmen not celebrating it like Igbos did about Ifeajuna's, Dimpka was promptly arrested and court-martialed by Obasanjo unlike Ironsi who refused to court-martial the Igbo coupists. You say Nzeogwu and Ifeajuna killed corrupt politicians? Which court of law convicted Ahmadu Bello, Akintola, Tafawa Balewa, etc of corruption and exonerated the Zik, Okpara, Nwafor Orizu, Dennis Osadebe whom Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu allowed to escape unhurt? You Igbos' defense lines are always irritating and dishonest. What kind of stupid corruption was that? If the reason of the coup was the perceived corruption then it means Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu stared the selective anti-corruption war that we grapple with till today. AuroraBrls:You are a big fool. First of all I am not Yoruba, and it takes an idiotic Igbo man like you to assume that only Yorubas hate the fact that you Igbos started all the troubles with Nigeria today. Did I hear you talk about dignity and right thinking endowment! Which right thinking people would gloat and not quickly issue a public statement distancing themselves as a tribe from the carnage which some young misguided and myopic army officers from their region committed in the name of one senseless revolution? What dignity is in a people who began to ask for secession after they themselves had crushed the secession bid of the Niger Delta Republic, frustrated the secession bid of Northerners after killing their revered leaders in cold blood, and promulgated Anti-secession Decree thereafter? See who is talking of dignity. Shameless hypocrite and turncoats! AuroraBrls:Like I already said, I am not Yoruba but as a SS native I find it insulting that you Igbos assume that only Yorubas were intelligent and sensible enough to take exception to the stupidity and foolhardiness which you Igbos exhibited and took for boldness. If you were really blessed with the spirit of boldness to challenge oppression, then how come you idiots were in cahoots with Balewa when he was abusing powers to oppress the Western Region? I guess oppression only becomes oppression when you fools are the victims. Hasn't it ever occured to you that the murder of innocent army officers like Maimalari, Shodeinde, Ademulegun, Gwam Pam, Largema, etc and the shooting of bullets into the bellies of the pregnant wives of Ahmadu Bello and Shodeinde were the height of oppression by your brothers Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu which you their kinsmen cowardly couldn't come out to openly condemn? Have you ever heard of moral cowardice? That is the worst form of cowardice. AuroraBrls:Another idiotic utterance. It takes sheer buffoonery to think that Ogundipe could have just seized power in those circumstances without having previously carefully planned it with some trusted and loyal accomplices within the army. If it took the four Igbo coupists five years, according to Adegboyega's "Why We Struck, to plot a coup that ended up failing to take power, then only an idiot would expect that Ogundipe as a one man squad, could have successfully seized power within such a short notice and without any carefully hatched plot prior to that time. How silly your thought process is? Even Ironsi's take over from unarmed civilians was carefully planned with some of his loyal officers for about two days before execution. AuroraBrls:Hear the idiot again. Isn't it funny that you don't know how a conditional statement operates? Which bush school did you attend where you were taught that the statement "If you are allowed to leave, then I too will leave" means exactly the same thing as "I will work with you so that we can both leave together at the same time"? Go back to school. Awolowo was never dumped by the North. The results of the two presidential elections he lost show clearly that it was Igbo votes against him that always pulled him down and not the North. So far neither Osinbajo or Tinubu have ever used their closeness to power to haunt Igbos the way Azikiwe did to Yorubas through Balewa. I guess you will cry a river when Tinubu emerges APC ticket. Wasn't Zik himself used and dumped, and same with Ojukwu? As per MKO, it was still an Igbo man Humphrey Nwosu that, out of cowardice, refused to announce the result. Then the Arthur Nzeribe, Uche Chukwumerijie and Daniel Kanu who all worked closely with Abacha to frustrate the actualization of June 12 are of what tribe? |
AuroraBrls:Like I said; you deserve a gold medal for revisionism and twisting of facts. By your claim that Azikiwe was totally anti-Biafra you seem to suggest that you know Azikiwe better than his own son who granted the interview below to Punch Newspaper: https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/we-sensed-dad-was-disappointed-about-nigeria-before-his-death-ziks-son/%3famp. Please note where the report reads: ...but when it was obvious that there was Biafra, who was the spokesperson for Biafra? He was the one. He was the one travelling around the whole world to get support. He was the one that was meeting leaders to get them to support the Biafran cause. He was also an adviser to Odumegwu Ojukwu for a long time. His son in the above response was referring to his father's role in Biafra. |
