GonFreecss1: I agree, it's a case of being caught in the corner with any direction full of bloodbath.
One thing is certain, our economy is currently dependent on the price of crude oil and that is very dangerous to all of us. Exactly. We are virtually running a monoproduct economy. And the most interesting Irony of that is that in the international market we don't have the leverage to dictate the price of that product on which we so depend like oxygen.... meaning that we don't have comparative advantage on it in a sense. So whenever there is a hiccup in its prices our soft underbelly shows as our economy begins to bleed. Until we fundamentally address the deficiencies which put pressure on the Naira (e.g. Exodus to foreign universities, importation of what we can actually produce, exportation of what we have very limited quantities of their raw materials, etc) the vicious cycle of devaluation will continue amidst the delusion that a floating of the Naira will perform the much needed magic. |

GonFreecss1: Essence or not, that argument is very important especially in the light of recent events. One thing I have learnt in the financial markets is they are all connected. To me, those arguments on floating versus non-floating are tantamount to focusing on the symptoms rather than on the fundamentals of the problem which remain a combination of factors like infrastructural deficit, abysmal records on ease of doing business especially in the Southern States of the country, intractible power failure, hopelessly moribund refineries, extractive industry failure, etc which all result in our net importer status. |

So you want Saraki to drive GAC or hyundai to work daily, you want DJ cuppy to use tecno phones.... I remember during Goodlucks daughters wedding Gold plated Iphones were given as souverneirs to those that attended.....
The truth is that the elites know fully well that a floating currency will shift the power base away from them and they dont want this they would rather stick with the status quo and remain at the top than to see things better and hold no powerful positions in the new scheme of things I think it is all because the Nigerian followership is not yet really ready to hold the political elite accountable. |

courage89: They made similar arguments 3-4 years ago, Nigeria needs to devalue its currency to attract FDI. We need to devalue to make export cheaper. Loads of bull...What happened to the FDI after we devalue our currency? What kind of FDI did we attract, portfolio or brick and mortar investments? What happened to the FDI after these investors made their returns? Has our cheaper currency helped us to export more industrial goods?
Let's not kid ourselves, devaluation of naira at this point is not in the best interest of our economy. It will create high inflation, high interest rate, loss of manufacturing abilities, loss of jobs and other problems.
To the proponents of currency devaluation, what's the objective this time? To attract short term portfolio, long term portfolio, brick & mortar investments? Devalued naira will only attract short term portfolio investment, which is detrimental to our economy. We're all living witness to the economic effect, cycle and runaround based on what happened to our stock market in the past 4 years.
Our objective should be how to attract long term portfolio, brick and mortar investments. The best way to do this right now is to address factors that lowers cost of doing business in Nigeria. Power, transportation, ease of doing business policies, security, currency stability and others. Our conversation should revolve around these subjects and not currency devaluation. By fixing these problems, we fix our economic problems and others at the same time. You know that the typical Nigerian prefers adhoc/quick fix approach to problems rather than a fundamental/holistic approach as you highlighted above. We have no use for addressing the root of problems but rather prefer to focus on trying to eliminate the symptoms, then we assume we are fine. |

obainosis4real: hear you go again, who told you the election was free and fair? we all know it was rigged that's Nigeria politics for you.... Igbos are known for standing for what they feel is right for all not like the lazy part of the south who can't do anything else rather than politics. Politics or know politics igbos and our brothers in the south south will thrive..
Now mark my word, buhari will never rig the election for any southerner as his nature spells him a begot
Being relevant or irrelevant depends on the direction you are looking at politics of this nation Nigeria... Come 2023 You will take your campaign to ss and se telling us how we form the south then you will see how relevant you will become when we ss and se focus on northern candidate. Let's watch and see what's gonna play out for all southerners...
You have been the northern slave for today but tomorrow we will be their slave too. That's the position the yorubas has kept us all. The bolded is wrong. You Igbos actually kept us in Northern slavery beginning from 1960 when you rejected the proposed all-south coalition in preference for alignment with the North-centric NPC despite the Hausafulanis having already slaughtered you in quantum numbers in Jos and Kano several years before independence. You repeated it again in 1979 by once more rejecting another all-south coalition proposal in preference for alignment with the Hausafulani owned and controlled NPN led by Shagari a heir to the Sokoto Caliphate. In 1999 you repeated it once more by pitching your tents in the Katsina Mafia founded PDP which threw up Obasanjo a stooge and lackey of the Core North. You Igbos gave bloc votes to Obasanjo despite being fully aware that it was he who made the Land Use Act which finally castrated the SS/Niger Delta of their power to control their lands. So your attitude of always tagging the SS along in your quest for vendetta against Yorubas or any other tribe will not work because we know which tribe really put the entire South under Northern Oligarchy's slavery. |

From the distribution of airports in the country, it is clear that Edo State's airport is the least served by passengers from other states as virtually all the states it shares boundaries with have their own airports or have another airport closer to them than that in Benin yet Edo State still makes the list at 7th position. This means most of the figure recorded for Edo comes from within Edo alone unlike most other states that get a substantial part their patronage figures from neighbouring states. This puts Edo in a first position in actual sense. |

They are always looking for bargain in emerging markets with stable economy But they seem to have stayed away for too long already since the time they began to exit early last year. Here you can make profits off dead/semi-dead coys, like Diamond, Japul, CHAMS. Hmmm. What an interesting irony NSE is! Well, it is not far fetched because in the public affairs of Nigerians behaviors are hardly ever dictated by principles but sentiments, and NSE can't be an exception. Sentiments Analysis therefore remains the best guide down here. |

In 2007, the Core North also rejected Atiku in preference for Yaradua whom people like FFK and the SS/SE gave bloc votes. So if we are to follow your logic, the SS, SE and the likes of FFK were slaves to the Core North's agenda which Yaradua represented back then. You see am? |

Those in the Chams plc bus enjoy, time to get and keep information to oneself, I found out that any good information posted here were always death on arrival. Instead of receiving stone, and insult/ blame, it will be good to say bye for now. Even mcy throw stone In NSE, never say never . After today I will go on ghost mode. People mistakes information here for something else, some think that they are revenging, but revenging for what? When your inner mind tells you to buy a stock which seems to present a jackpot opportunity, just buy and plug your ears to the noise while you prepare your emotions to accept the outcome in case it goes bad. |

Chibuking81: Lol, today I will enter all sound fundamental stock, let all drop. I am not the problem I believed there are members here who serve as village group monitoring my comments in this forums , and I notice that any stock I secretly enter I will make a huge amount of money, but the moment I post any stock I entered in this forum by way of advertising it, they will show up bringing one reason or the other why it must not fly, look at Caverton and Chams, the moment I said I am out of Chams they allowed the stock be, but they are still punishing Caverton, because they still believe that I am still inside.
From today, I will be entering stocks secretly, and making my money without them knowing it. And will reduce my post, or stay away for sometime, but not out from NSEM. When I said it some months ago that I discovered that the said village people are actually members of NSEMPA, I was not taken seriously. But here we are now with another person making a similar discovery. I will never forget how those "village people" made me exit Diamond Bank at 0.97 after successfully entering at 0.66 only for the thing to move to nearly 2.5 later. My resolve from then on was that any stock which these "village people" bad-mouth is exactly the one I will dive into with full delta force. |
