Politics › FCT Workers Deny Calling For Bala’s Sack by Decryptor(op): 6:34pm On Dec 11, 2013 |
The Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC) of FCTA and FCDA workers has adopted the joint resolution reached on Monday night at their officers’ meeting with the FCT Administration led by the Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed and subsequently called off their protest. Their protest had resulted in the blockade of the main entrance of the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s Secretariat, Area 11, Garki District, Abuja on Monday with some miscreants almost hijacking the peaceful rally by calling for the sack of the minister. But the FCT JUAC has stated that its members did not call for the minister’s removal.
The resolution which the workers issued late on Tuesday through the FCT JUAC Chairman, Comrade (Chief) Ajao J. Adejumo said that they took the action to call off the protest following a successful interaction with the Minister and top FCT officials on Monday night at the Banquet Hall of the FCT Minister’s official residence at Life Camp, Gwarimpa District.
The FCTA/FCDA staff said in calling off the action, they noted the frank explanation offered by the Minister and his programmed directives which they described as convincing. They expressed confidence in the current administration of FCT under Bala Mohammed.
The workers listed in the resolution reached at the meeting to include the release of 2012 staff promotion. They noted with satisfaction the promise by the Minister that the outcome of the 2012 promotion exercise would be released in January 2014 within which period the issues of biometrics would have been completed and arrears of promotion paid accordingly.
They also accepted the approval by the Minister for the release of 200 plots of land to be allocated within one week as part of the long service benefit to workers. They equally acknowledged the Minister’s pledge to release plots of land for the Union and its Cooperative societies to enable them build affordable houses.
One other package which found the workers’ delight was the promise by the Minister to provide between six and 10 coastal buses within the first quarter of 2014 for staff transportation to enable them come to work and return to their respective homes without stress.
The strong assurance given by the Minister that hazard allowance would be paid to deserving workers with immediate effect, with emphasis on workers involved in sewage evacuation was also accepted by the workers.
Similarly, the undertaking by the Minister that training programmes would be embedded in Secretariats’ budgets and that the Director of Economic Planning, Research and Statistics, is to come up with operational template for this was noted by the workers with satisfaction.
They accepted the Minister’s explanation on why the 13th Month salary, that is an extra end-of-year bonus will not be paid this year, due to swelling wage bill and inadequate funding.
The Minister’s pledge that salaries of Aso Radio/Television Stations would be paid with immediate effect, particularly the disclosure that he had already approved N 400 million for this purpose and allied needs excited the workers.
The Union members also welcomed the Minister’s extension of invitation to them to join the FCTA management in handling outstanding biometrics screening of workers in order to expeditiously clear deserving ones so that outstanding salaries of affected staff and promotion would be implemented.
The JUAC expressed its appreciation of the prompt response by the Nigeria Labour Congress, FCT Chapter and the cooperation of the entire staff during the dispute and urged all concerned to be law abiding as the union “will not relent in pursuing the immediate implementation of the ministerial directive.”

kokoA: At times I wonder if we still have a minister in FCT. This man is the most useless FCT minister in history. Aleiro (whom I thought was the worst) is a "mandela" compare to Bala Mohammed. Smh. His only "achievement" so far is naming a district after GEJ.. Its a pity. Stop talking like an ignoramus! Take a look around you in FCT today...things are changing. The Bala-led Administration has transformed the FCT in many ways which are commendable. Take a look at the Land Swap policy just to mention a few. As for the protest yesterday, the FCT Minister later had a meeting with the them. And as a matter of fact, the FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed is not and has never owed workers monthly salary since he assumed office in April 2010. He was only welfare-minded by paying them an end of year extra monthly salary which the workers themselves had preferred to call 13th month. It is an irony that a kind gesture has been twisted and misrepresented against the benefactor. All those who accused this man of owing workers 13 months salary arrears should apologize to him now. |

Crime › Nigerian Couple In UK Jailed Over Plot To Steal £19 Million by Decryptor(op): 3:13pm On Dec 08, 2013 |
A YOUNG British couple were part of a global internet banking scam which could have netted a phenomenal £19million after hacking the accounts of nearly 2,500 people. Aderoju Bammeke 22, and his girlfriend Jessica Ogunyemi, 20, both of Manchester, were the UK ‘platform’ for a Nigerian ‘phishing’ scam that made £41,000 in just two months. The plot, masterminded by a gang in the West African country, involved sending fake emails to customers of banks including Barclays and Halifax. The emails told recipients that their accounts had been hacked and asked them to complete a form with their log-in details. But when victims obliged, Bammeke stepped in and helped the gang log in to steal money. Fashion marketing student Ogunyemi, his girlfriend at the time, helped him launder the proceeds by putting funds in accounts, hiding cash and allowing him to buy her a £2,400 Vauxhall Corsa. Bammeke has now been jailed for three-and-a-half years at Manchester Crown Court after admitting conspiracy to commit fraud and unauthorised computer use. Ogunyemi admitted five counts of money laundering and was given a suspended prison sentence. Investigators found evidence of the scam on seven devices at Bammeke’s home, which had accessed 181 accounts from his address. But Barclays found 2,439 customers had been affected and investigators say the true scale of the fraud will never be known. Bammeke admitted he had been involved in the scam for more than a year. He played a ‘key role’ as England’s ‘platform’ for the scam, the court heard. He said if the gang had tried to log into accounts from Nigeria it would have triggered the banks’ alarm systems. Simon Nichol, defending Bammeke, said he felt regret and remorse for his actions. He said his involvement – which began in an effort to tackle student debt – was ‘sporadic’ and although the scam was large scale with international dimensions, Bammeke’s part was not. He added: ‘They needed a platform in this jurisdiction and they needed someone to provide that platform. He allowed them to use his computer remotely. He expresses further regret that he got his girlfriend involved in this.’ Michael Lavery, defending Ogunyemi, said she had brought shame on her family, including her train driver father and mother who works for Manchester council. He said she had been ‘naive’, was predicted to get a first in her degree and was no longer in a relationship with Bammeke. Bammeke had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to conspiracy to commit fraud and unauthorised computer use while Ogunyemi admitted five counts of money laundering. Sentencing Bammeke, Judge Recorder Gibson said: ‘This in my opinion was a sophisticated fraud, a clever fraud and a fraud which could very easily have resulted in very much more substantial money being stolen.’ He jailed Ogunyemi for a year, suspended for two years, and ordered her to complete 180 hours’ unpaid work. After the hearing, Detective Superintendent Janet Hudson of TITAN, the North-West Regional Crime Unit, said: ‘The actions of Bammeke and Ogunyemi caused a great deal of stress and uncertainty to many affected bank customers who had their accounts accessed. ‘As a result of the investigation, no customers were left out of pocket and the offenders were arrested and ultimately sentenced. Internet banking is considered a safe and secure method of banking. ‘However, bank customers need to remain vigilant and aware of the danger posed by fraudsters. Customers should only ever navigate directly to an online bank website and should never click on any link sent to them through an email. ‘Additionally, when accessing bank accounts online customers should always be aware of the exact address in order to ensure that they are actually on a legitimate banking website Source: http://thenationonlineng.net/new/nigerian-couple-uk-jailed-plot-steal-19-million/ |

Abeg stop yarning dust! It is better to be in the minority than to be in zero position. You want a party that is sooo anti-igbo to win the guber elections in Anambra? as if that will make an Igbo person president! If Tinubu and his APC touts really like the igbos, why not make Ngige the running mate of Kwankwaso for the presidential elections? Why must it be fashola? Read between the lines man.... Presidential flagbearer= Kwankwaso: North Running mate=Fashola: South-West So where is Igbo representation there? APC is a party that smells of bigotry! They think that presenting Ngige in Anambra as a bait will make us guillible to fall mugu? Even Ngige has expressed his regret via the way he said he was not going to be involved in any rerun of the election! He knows that Anambra rejected him because of his flirtation with APC...he feels so agrieved. |

Crime › Re: 15 Children Molested By Their Fathers In Enugu In Five Months —FIDA by Decryptor(m): 2:18pm On Nov 22, 2013 |
lorretta u: This is what happens when men aren't taught the value of self control from childhood. I don't know the one I'll say some peeps will start calling me man-hater.
Men pls and pls. Self control and zipping up isn't meant for women alone. Imagine a society where a man who can bed 20 ladies is seen as the main man but the lady who's had 3 men is seen as a slut. What does it say about us? And what is the end result? Simple. The result is men who can't reason with their brains once they have an erection. The next thing is to find where to put it into.they can sleep with any type of woman(no taste or class) they can even sleep with animals(we knw that happens) and the new trend now is to sleep with innocent little children. As long as it gets them off they don't mind.
I don't believe men are created sexually weak than women. I believe it's the way they are brought up that causes it. Imagine me and my sisters receiving sex education from childhood because we are girls And the boys aren't even bothered about because they are men. Hence we keep raising generation after generation of men who can't keep their trousers zipped. From sleeping with a variety of women they begin to fantasize about younger fresher girls in extreme cases, what see are situations like this where women are molested and children are included in the molestation too.
The earlier the better. We can start now from the younger male generation to encourage chastity in men. That way, stories like this will be reduced in future.
N/B: this is a generalisation. We know some men are not like that. for those who might feel attacked by this post, apologies. .if you know you're one the sexzually disciplined men, no need to feel like it was meant for you. Please calm down! Stop berating men only. Women are also into this full time!! I for example was molested at the age of 4 by a lady who was almost as old as 25 as far as i can remember. The reason why it seems men are the only culprits is because of the fact that the female anatomy of a girl child is suspectible to bruises after molestation in contrast to the male child. Some of these house-maids you see tending young male kids can be dangerous. |
