N/b: Mbaise is a part of Imo state that makes up 3 of the 27 local government areas in the state..the 3 l.g.a s of mbaise includes Aboh Mbaise, Ahaizu mbaise and Ezinihitte mbaise

I actually started hearing this from childhood back in the days in the East. When I gained admission, I decided to experience things myself. I had a lodgemate from Mbaise whom I experienced this with, I also had a very good friend, quite older than myself(over 10yrs) who is from Isiala Ngwa-at least, you can place the 2 regions and understand what I mean if you know the origin of both as believed by many.

I decided to try out this Mbaise guy on what is believed to be the character of an average Mbaise guy and I can tell you, the guy is a direct opposite of what people believe of Mbaise ppl. He is so liberal, generous, accommodating, non self centered and takes everyone as a friend. One day, I called this my friend and told him about my discoveries and he said I should ask this guy where he was born and bred(Port Harcourt). What I deduced was that environmental influence could have played a very big role but at least, I took something home; certain people are not as black as we paint them.

Yet another time, during my finals, I met another whom I found difficult to believe she is from this region(though trained in Lagos) cos of her character and when I told this my friend, he gave me another reason; that it's because this one wasn't trained at home too.

I didn't stop there and upon graduation, I ran into one one day during our CDS and was glad he was bred at home, as a matter of fact, everything about him is Mbaise. All his words are full of proverbs and adage, even that accent was there. We became acquaintances and at a point, I started getting closer to him to clear that doubt. Though he is not as bad as certain people would paint them, but I experienced some degree of tricks and crafty characters in him. He always wants to be in an advantaged position. Always bent on playing on your intelligence and wouldn't want to get a lesser dose even when it is sacrificial for him to do so.

My conclusion about them, having met some others thereafter is that: an average Mbaise have that trait in him or her even though there are exceptions.

It's not peculiar to Mbaise, other tribes or regions have things they are known for.

On the snake thing, I heard it has to do with being crafty and the tendency to easily outsmart you. Those who know about the story said it started with The late "Dr Sir Warrior" when some deal turned sour.

Greetings everyone. I feel so bad , sad and traumatised right now because of how someone just decided to wake up one day and do evil to me. My essence of writing this is to use Nairaland as a means of educating more people on the dangers you may face when your ATM card has been compromised.


Yesterday after finishing up work for the day i did my usual closing time ritual; i shut my system down, switched off the AC and the sockets then started my journey and this was already 6-01pm. When i reached Chevron round about at exactly 6-37pm I heard the usual notification tone on my phone that i had received a message. I ignored after 2 mins i heard another then i removed the phone from my pocket and checked lo and behold what did i see?N20k debit alert from GTB twice.

I was like WHAT!!! when did i initiate these transactions and while still looking at the messages surprised another N20k debit alert came in after a few seconds yet another N20k totalling N80,000 naira. Like a man possessed I quickly Hotlisted my Account by sending an sms with the Hotlist format and after that i received a message that my Account has been hotlisted from GTB but it was already too late. The balance left after the N80k taken was just N7k.

My people , the feeling of seeing your money leaving your account in ral time is a very crazy experience I felt so helpless. Anyways I have gone to a GTB Branch and complained but they are telling me it can take a week to 3 months for investigations to be concluded. Me i want my money refunded and i dont even get why it has to take so long (45 days max) to resolve that issue. Thank God i have 2 other accounts but this has got me thinking that our banks need to protect s their clients more.

The thief used a POS/Web transfer channel to remove the money why?because he knows if he uses an ATM his face will be captured by CCTV or the camera on the machine meaning No be today him de do this kain thing.

tthere should be some sort of way to prevent unauthorised transfers honestly. Either when you want to pay with a POS machine a message shoud be sent to you requesting authorization before payment can be done on a POS machine. How this thief bypassed OTP authorization to remove money from my account beats my imagination.

It will interest me to know more about how this transaction was carried out.

Possible ways could be that one of the sites having your card details (like when you buy or make payments online) may have been compromised or the site itself is not actually SSL certified.

Certain apps you use in making payments/purchases might have been hacked.

Someone might have had access to your card combinations, he doesn't need to know your pin to transact with the card especially if it's MasterCard.

Kindly update us on the findings/investigation and recommendations made by the bank because while I feel cashless policy and web payment has been simplified for convenience, a lot of people are also cashing in on that to defraud unsuspecting users.

Lastly, I feel financial and security bodies should authorize ANY transaction using a combination of token (soft or hard) and secure code even after inputting pins cos hackers have learnt to bypass pins.

I think the second part of your advice was rather harsh. Even a focused and responsible chap could fall victim to this, women alike too. At 19, he should have left secondary school and could be either a fresher in higher institution, an admission seeker or learning some kinda skill acquisition. At this level, he is more of a free ion and most of his time are spent with peers. It's sad the unwanted happened but somehow, he deserves some better counseling.

The rate at which these telecom companies exploit us is becoming really frustrating. And to think they'll keep doing it because we always decide to keep quiet is more annoying. So today I've decided not to keep quiet like I always do but to call them out instead. I'll be fulfilled if this message saves only 1 person from this scam.

I bought the MTN 4G LTE mifi on the 13th of this month for 20k and according to them, it came with 20GB (imaginary 20GB in my opinion). Network was bad so they weren't able to activate it till d next day which is 14th. I started using it and got a message on the 21st that my data had been exhausted. You can imagine my shock. 20GB in 1 week? What was I browsing. Prior to this time, I was using at most 7GB monthly. I subscribe regularly cos I work online so I can accurately estimate how much data I consume monthly.

Anyways, I overlooked it since it was 'free' data and decided to subscribe the 10GB data plan which costs 5k. I did that on the 22nd of this month and was given 25k bonus airtime that can be used to browse. Imagine my shock when I got notified yesterday, march 27th, that both 10GB and 25k have been exhausted. HUH!!! In 5 days? Just put a gun to my head already.

So these thieves are trying to say in 13days, I used up 30GB and 25k just for browsing WITHOUT DOWNLOADING!!! I decided to call customer care. The first mumu I spoke to was giving me wrong date so I knew he didn't know his job well. I decided to call again hoping someone else will pick. A lady picked and after my explanation, she told me from what she can see, I've been browsing heavily. Just imagine. Like I don't know what heavy browsing means? When I tried to argue her explanation, she hung up on me. So much for customer service. She's lucky I didn't get her name. I wonder if they really screen these people before employing them.

I am writing this to warn those who plan to buy the MTN 4G LTE mifi to think twice before taking that step. I have lost 25k to these rich thieves which might be nothing to some of you but it's my sweat and I decided to rant about it. Enough of all this scam already. Thanks for reading.

I no longer complain through the customer care call cos they know it's between the 2 of you. Take to Twitter and if their reply isn't convincing, tag other bodies like NCC,CPC. But before then, please get your facts right by checking the data usage in your system within the period in question; screenshot where necessary.

There are many reasons cars jerk ranging from engine seats, dying plugs, faulty break pads and rotors, faulty/incompatible compressor and so on. Since yours is noticed on switching on the AC, then you might need to check the compressor.

So I began my analysis: I graduated with a First Class in B. A. International Studies and Diplomacy while the shortlisted candidates graduated in these disciplines:
1. NCE, B. Sc. Social Studies
2. B. A. French
3. B. Sc. Sociology

I don't know their grades, but let's assume they all had First Class, their disciplines are not as relevant as my own considering Foreign Service Job. But this is Nigeria where merit is always murdered on the alter of connection.
Patiently waiting for the next batch. In the meantime, I'm already running my M.A in the First and the Best University in Nigeria (you know the school na...Lol). The job was just Plan B.
