The two twisted and loudmouthed tribal irredentists such babapupa and Bluetooth would feign death to defend certified dead politicians from western region of Nigeria and brand them best that have ever walked the surface of the earth. If you grind their noses on the potholes that decorated the trunk B roads in Lagos, the punks would still remain blinded to tribal duties. Yet the loonies forgot that Lagos was once a city such as Ibadan and can not be compared to the maxim of statehood.

iroooooooooooo leleyi oooooooooooooooooo
Abagworo:
‘North saved South-South during the war’ From ZAINAB SULEIMAN OKIN and MODESTUS CHUKWULAKA, Abuja Saturday, August 14 , 2010 Malam Isyaku Ibrahim was the power behind the throne in the Second Republic, having propped up Alhaji Shehu Shagari to win the presidential nomination of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and later as president. He is not just a member of the ruling PDP, but also supposedly a member of its Board of Trustees (BoT). However, Ibrahim stopped attending the BoT meetings because of irreconcilable differences between him and ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and Chief Tony Anenih. The group, he said, harbours bad and corrupt people. The former NEPU member, who also campaigned for the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, spoke on President Goodluck Jonathan’s ambition, zoning and the North-South political dichotomy. He said the North does not owe the South South any debt which the Jonathan presidency is meant to pay. On the contrary, Ibrahim said northerners sacrificed and shed their blood to liberate the South South from Biafran occupation. That war (the civil war), he emphasized, was fought with proceeds from groundnut, cocoa, tin and not oil money. And he warned: only the retention of zoning could preserve the sanctity of our nation and protect the interest of the minorities. Could you give us an overview of the political situation in the country today? It is unfortunate that in Nigeria today, we don’t have good politicians; we have some chop-chop politicians who don’t believe in anything. They are in politics in order to enrich themselves; only very few politicians still remain and the few that still remain are not talking. So, it is a most unfortunate situation. So, what is your view on zoning by the PDP? For those of us who participated in creating zoning, the principle behind it is a concern for our nation, I mean nationhood. But because we do not adhere to this principle, we now talk about our ethnic groups. This one is from South, this one is Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa. All these are coming up because we have no nationhood, like Americans do. So, that’s why we decided that. It was not the first time. During the Second Republic, there was rotation - South, /North. Our southern brothers gave us the opportunity, that the North should take the first. That was how Shehu Shagari emerged. And mark you, NPN was a national party; it was not a tribal party; it was formed by Nigerians from all the ethnic groups in Nigeria . But we agreed that, in order to entrench confidence in the minds of people, we had to do rotation, to ease the problems and possible conflicts. Then in 1998 , several parties came together to form PDP. And we have about six zones in Nigeria. So, because we wanted to restore confidence in the mind of every Nigerian, that we must have nationhood and to sustain that confidence in the minds of every Nigerian, we in PDP came up with the zoning. This time we said okay, zoning will go again, like a rotation between the South and the North. This time round, we in the North agreed that our southern brothers should take the first shot. So, people from the South, like Graham Douglas, Philip Asiodu, Don Etiebet from South-South, and Jim Nwobodo, Dr Alex Ekwueme from the South- East, and Obasanjo from the South West were in the race. We went to the convention in Jos, and Obasanjo contested against these other people, and emerged. The convention was conducted under the chairmanship of the late Chief Sunday Awoniyi. It was acclaimed as one of the most transparent conventions. So, Obasanjo won. There is one impression I want to correct- that Umar Yar’Adua and Jonathan were given eight years. A point of correction. Zoning was not based on personality. That’s why, in the year 2003, the second term of Obasanjo, Dr Alex Ekwueme came out to seek for the nomination, and I was the director of his campaign in 2003 ; so zoning is not based on personality. Zoning was given to the people from the South; that’s why Dr. Alex Ekwueme too came again when Obasanjo was still the President. So, for somebody now to say Umar Yar’Adua and Jonathan were given this thing for eight years is absolutely not correct. What about the fact that Gemade and Rimi also contested? But the North did not vote for them. They came out, but because we respected zoning, they did not get votes from the North logically. You know if the North supported them, they would have got votes. Any moment from now, President Jonathan is going to come out and that would sound a death knell for zoning, If he comes out, that means he is not going to win. How can you be so sure? I am so sure, because it has never happened in the political history of the world, where a minority will override the wishes of the majority. But what of power of incumbency, which he enjoys and which will give him an added advantage? It is based on zoning.
If not for the inclusion of arrant conjectural craps spurred by inherent stupidity and ignorance such as bolded sentences this post would have warranted a second look.

By the way, I do not blame the poor stream of thoughts as demonstrated by Malam Isyaku Ibrahim but the shameful socio-political demeanor exhibited by indigenes of the so-called south-south since after Nigeria-Biafra civil war.

Politics › Re: Pdp Caucus: Zoning Stays ! by Dede1(m): 1:07pm On Aug 13, 2010
Wallowing in emotional rather than critical thoughts is major problem among Africans in general and Nigerians in particular.  Many right-thinking PDP stalwarts had repeatedly informed the Nigerians that zoning of political offices in Nigeria is common stay in the party’s constitution. It is both idiots such as Obasanjo and certain youth organizations that can not read and apparently disingenuous. Obasanjo and his cohorts do not mean well for Nigeria.

The statement released by the PDP about its zoning principles is not ambiguous. The PDP caucus had invoked section 7.2 (c) of the party’s constitution as evidence that zoning stays. When the party says Goodluck E. Jonathan can run for electable office despite the PDP zoning does not mean Jonathan has to run under PDP platform. It just means that PDP is sticking to the acceptable zoning formula. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan could either run as independent if such provision existed in the section of Nigerian constitution which governs politicking in the country or opt for another political party.

You have started with the fairy tales again; do tell, how did Okpara or any other Igbo save Awo? How was it the decision of the Eastern premier to decide where to send Awo to serve his sentence? Awo's alleged offence was treason, which was a federal offence. You guys believe too much in tales handed down by the older generation. I am not interested in what was said by someone in some secret meeting. Provide the evidence that it was Igbo sons that got Awo sent to Calabar. Awo was a federal prisoner and could have served his sentence anywhere in Nigeria. If Awo had died in prison under any circumstance, then there would have been trouble.

Dede1

In what election did Okpara campain in the North? Did Awo not campaign in the North? Anytime someone makes a post anout Ndigbo on these forums, you immediately start making comparative statements between Igbo and Yoruba. If you must continue with that style, then at least try to be factually accurate at all times.See articles below

'But it is the rabble-rousing Zik who may wind up running the show. Last year he journeyed north to the Sardauna's palace with a proposal to work together to defeat Awolowo. The Sardauna was happy to cooperate, for he bitterly hates Awolowo, who for years has urged that the powers of the northern emirs be reduced and is trying to split off the large non-Moslem "Middle Belt" from the Northern Region and make it a separate state. None of the three regions is likely to get the absolute majority needed to rule all Nigeria by itself, but a Northern-Eastern coalition could make Zik the first federal Prime Minister; the North's Sardauna appears to have his own eyes on the dignified post of Governor General.

Helicopters & Trinkets. Awolowo's
Action Group is fighting all out to beat this powerful combine. By far the best organized and disciplined party in the country, its slick politicking is worthy of the U.S. pressagents Awolowo has hired to steer his campaign. He and his aides sail through the back country in helicopters, festoon the towns with modern banners and posters, and hand out books of matches and other election trinkets by the thousands. Two TV stations—the first in black Africa—will carry Awolowo's campaign cries when they start operating early next month.

Awolowo styles himself a "liberal democrat" and favors uncompromising allegiance with the West in foreign policy. Zik swears he is not anti-West (his son is at Harvard), but insists that independent Nigeria should follow a neutral foreign policy, much like that of Kwame Nkrumah in nearby Ghana

Such sophisticated distinctions have little part in the campaigning—Awolowo and Zik prefer to denounce each other as oppressors of the people. It goes over much better.'

AN AMENDMENT OPPOSING PRIME MINISTER ABUBAKAR TAFEWA BALEWA'S MOTION
SEEKING TO IMPOSE A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN NIGERIA'S WESTERN REGION
May 29, 1962

By Chief Obafemi Awolowo

"In the North, to the annoyance no doubt of my good friend the premier of Northern Nigeria, I think it is correct to say that it was the Action Group who, during the 1959 elections, campaigned for the first time in the history of Northern Nigeria. The hon. The Sardauna of Sokoto, the premier of the Northern Region, had to go into villages and towns and mount the soap boxes to address the masses. It had never happened in the history of the Northern Region that the Sardauna would descend to the depths of mounting a soap box and talking to the masses of the people - they take orders through other agencies and not directly from the Sardauna himself.

"I remember that a story was told to me on that occasion, that the Sardauna drove through several miles of dusty road and, at the end of it, he found himself covered with dust, and sneezing he said: "I will never forgive Awolowo for this!" If he does not want to forgive me we can talk that over between ourselves because we are friends, but this is not the way to deal with that particular situation: this is not the way to deal with that particular annoyance. This is wrong.

I am not going to be fazed by your attempt to label my posts as fairy tale because it is a matter of opinion and you are entitled to have one. However it goes to show how far removed Nigerians are capable of resolving issues bordered on politics and ethnicity.

My initial post was in response to an idiotic write-up posted by one goofy contributor. It was not an attempt to compare and contrast the personalities of principal politicians mentioned on the post.

Again on the fairy tale, I had rather judiciously guided the knowledge impacted on me by the tales than swallow the feel-happy craps written by hacks and propagated by undiscerning audience. I am embarrassingly disappointed in you for insinuating that any or every time the word, campaign, is written on a piece of paper it is manifested through electioneering engagements.

I found it very discouraging you are bent on flooding the forum with nonsensical write-ups minted by individuals whose mindset and knowledge of recorded events are questionable. Is it not laughable people are still propagating the nonsense that Lt Col Fajuyi wanted to die with Ironsi? What about the crap that Nigerian Armed Forces had only FIVE graduates pre-1966 coups?

I do not know the period Awo campaigned in Northern region of Nigeria but my so-called fairy tale had it that neither Awo nor Akintola showed up in Kano or Kaduna despite mountain of words of promise during the time in discuss. Although the permit granted to the southern protectorate’s political parties were revoked by the local authorities, the fact remains that a delegate from one of the major political parties from the south showed up in Kano amidst threats of political mayhem. By the way, the threat was actually carried out.

What a moronic dunce. Okpara would not have regretted the failure to join forces with Awo due to the positions held by each men and chronicle order of events in the protectorates. When Okpara became a premier and leader of NCNC, Awo’s political influence was seeing a serious political challenge from his kinsmen. Yet it was Okpara’s led NCNC that formed alliance with defeated remnants of AG supporters that gave rise to UPGA.

This thread as been going on for a few days now without insults, name-calling, or tribal mudslinging. Why are you attempting to derail the thread by calling Yoruba politicians animals? You are expecting us to fall for your bait? I am hoping no one falls for it.

So why did Akintola place the call to Zik to warn him about Awo's attempt to deal with two parties? Was it not the same Akintola who went to Bello in the company of Rosiji? So how can we conclude that Awo sent Akintola to negotiate with Bello if Akintola called Zik before getting to Bello and then was in the company of Bello, when Bello called Zik? If what you allege is true, then I can conclude that Akintola was always working with Zik and Bello to frustrate Awo's ambition. I can reach that conclusion easily because of the manner in which NCNC members gave their support to Akintola immediately after he was impeached by the AG and also by the fact that Michael Okpara refused to accept Adegbenro when it is not in Okpara's position to either accept or refuse Adegbenro's ascension.
Please do not misconstrue my statement of animals as derogatory because everybody is a political animal. However, I must add that you have willfully chosen not to incorporate the dynamic nature of polity during the era in discuss. During the SLA’s stint in the Federal House of Representative, he was liked by everybody and fondly referred as Golden Voice of Nigerian politics. It is not uncommon for such a political character to gain unsolicited political support from naïve bystanders.

SLA was not AG member by heart. People should remember that during the declaration of Ogba Omo Oduduwa as Action Group in Owo about 1951, SLA was already leading a political party known as UPP. Also, AG has opposition from stalwarts such as Alaafin of Oyo who encouraged the formation of Omo Oduduwa Parapo. Of course, SLA was a member of the team led by Rosiji and knew what the political stake was and decided to torpedo it by placing the phone call to Azik at the appropriate time.

When SLA was thrown out of AG and dismissed as premier by the Governor of western region, Oba Aderemi, SLA in turn dismissed the Governor. The issue went to the court and SLA and his supporters were handed initial defeat but they appeal to House of Lords in UK. The house also sided with the Governor but SLA and Balewa insisted that SLA was the western region premier hence the crisis that led to the declaration of emergency in western region of Nigeria.

Politics is a funny game. The so-called NCNC supporters were the same folks who formed alliance with AG to battle NNDP and NPC in western region.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! These revelations about Akintola, Awo and other political animals of Yoruba extraction are music to my ears. I shall not attempt to truncate the flow of the involuntary gist from unflinching disciples of anything Yoruba.

When did Akinloye become the NCNC heavyweight? Is it the same Akinloye who was one of the founding members of IPP (Ibadan Progressive Party) that contested election under the platform of NCNC and then crossed carpet?

Is not the same rigged election that resulted into the western regional crises Zik tried to avoid when NNDP-Yoruba and Northern regional politicians invoked the constitutional stipulation of deployment of troops and police between Prime Minister and President?

I think the truth is about to come out on the fact it was Akintola who placed the phone call to Zik to alert him that Awo sent a team to negotiate with Bello and another team to negotiate with Zik.

It appears one of my friends on nairaland is much undecided on which side of the history to hedge his historical knowledge.

Nigeria’s problem is rooted in tribalism, religion and colonialism. Colonial masters aided in creating an entity called Nigeria which should not have been configured as it is today. Colonial masters also created a system where tribalism and religion were used freely to engender nepotism, sectionalism and brazen corruption.

The need to stamp out nepotism, religious bias, corruption in high places and sectionalism led to the January 15, 1966 coup that gave rise to July 29, 1966 countercoup which resulted into a civil war. The civil war had robbed Nigeria its innocence and created everlasting enmity among neighbors.

The only solution to Nigeria’s issues is disintegration of the colonial cesspit. Nigerians can dance around all they want the truth remains so-called “One-Nigeria” slogan is the biggest fraud ever.

I believe this idiotic forum or whatever group accredited with the posted article is not the political beacon of Ndigbo in Delta State. Any group that can not correctly identify itself does not warrant political attention. The so-called waste brain group of Anioma forum failed woefully to represent themselves as Nigerians, maybe they are aliens.

There is no Anioma ethnic nationality in Nigeria though the colonial contraption has degenerated into cesspit. In addition, any person of Igbo heritage, directly or indirectly, who lavishes inconsequential political encomiums on Mr. Edwin K. Clarke is silly joker. Even the group’s political postulation defied any known logic. How could such load of nonentities overtly announce political support for candidates who can not scale over the hurdles of primaries? I do not think it is proper to waste my time on a mindless bunch fools who crafted the weirdest scheme of political subterfuge.

If these dimwits and expandable scoundrels who constituted themselves into a forgettable forum wear Anioma ethnic nationality, one wonders what informed the reason for the caption of the thread.
