Add this fact to the fact that militants whom you and your likes support and urge on to vandalize oil facilities have caused a serious decline in our output, pray, tell what miracle you expect to be performed in a mono-economy like ours?

You can't sow onions and reap apple. You can't support economic saboteurs and expect a performing economy.

My brother, I agree with you and your approach. But the truth must be told that the FG is not handling this well enough. The country is not new to low oil prices. There are companies now whose income has halfed. Have they closed shop? Excuse is an evidence of failure. The current tenure was not prepared that is why it took them 6 months to select a very weak team. Right now, they do not seem to have any plans for the economy. Their body language, arrogance and their lopsided approach is driving away investments, and the economy is shrinking fast. Even APC stalwarts have started saying this to the FG.

It is not just about oil prices but about how you manage it. I actually feel that if oil is still selling above USD100 per barrel Nigeria will still be in recession now! If you have all the money in the bank and you dont have plans you could end up losing value!

I used to share this sentiment but I have since ported. The report here shows the cluelessness of the FG. It is as simple as that. They have no plan for the economy, 15 months after they were sworn in.

1. Budget is passed. There is no need for the house to push for spending.
2. Emergemcy poweers are NOT needed. Government people just need to roll up their sleaves and work! They already have a lot of powers.
3. There is power to send home players (ministers and officers) that are not performing. Forget about automatic shirts in today's world. A striker that cannot score does not deserve a shirt.
4. The report shows how weak Finance Ministry has become. The minister there is posting ZERO performance. She speaks well, but does she mean well? Does she do well? A striker is no paid to dribble but to score.
5. FG is talking about 3.4 trillion seized cash and assets - What is the cash element? Forget about the assets - no one will buy property from FG today when they know they are seized from politicians. And why cant government be transparent? How much cash do they have?
6. Communications is at the lowest. They are either not talking at all or talking only about 'future plans'. They are talking to themselves.
7. President Jonathan made mistakes. Stop demonizing him, because you are already making your own mistakes.
8. While they fight 'old corruption', new corruption has already started. Its no secret, SLS spoke about it. BDC operators also told us why Naira is getting weaker. Today's looting politicians are ready to buy at any price! FG looks on cluelessly.
9. Nigerian economy is import based. You cannot make it an industrial economy overnight. If you technically ban all imports, as you are doing now with the exchange rate policies, you will throw tens of millions of Nigerians into the labour market. Half of those may become militants. How would they handle that? Dont they have enough problems on hand?
10. The middle income class you should protect is thinning out. Go to the airports, you'll see how many are emmigrating for good!

FG needs help from economic experts, like a patient that needs urgent surgery. If you dont trust the local ones why dont they go abroad and seek for help? The current head of the Bank of England is an American! They sought him out to help. Pride can kill. We need help, so go and get it.

Dont set your own house on fire out of pride and arrogance. Election was over close to 2 years now. Dont be deceived, if there is an election today, the current government will lose out monumentally!

The coach is turning herself to the new 'Diezani'. The woman who talks so much and listens to no one. She sounds like she has all the answers yet she does not seem to know what she is saying. With the amount of pressure on leadership if they do not learn to laugh they may not live through it! If there are dullards at all, they are probably on NL. Jonathan came and did his best. He also made so many mistakes. PMB is there, he has made some gains and he is also making mistakes. If you are there tomorrow, be sure you will also make mistakes. Make constructive comments and criticisms and stop abusing people. You are not better than the people you are insulting!

PMB is not getting it on the econony. On security, there is a lot of progess. People are not bombed to death on daily basis as it was a year ago. On the fight against corruption, there is perhaps some progress. At least money is not shared anyhow anymore! On the economy, PMB told Nigerians there was no good argument to devalue the naira. The same people who said he was wrong are the same people now cursing him for accepting to devalue the naira!

The problem with Nigeria is Nigerians. So, the leaders can laugh away....!

We need good education in the country. Too many people are unaware, unexposed and largely uneducated.

His like should have earned CON or GCON ahead of some of the fellows with questionable wealth who have been getting those awards lately. I hope that PMB will do better and not award our national honours to highest bidders and crooked politicians.

Very true. It is just that the money can be channelled into projects with lasting impact. This FG should learn that and spend quickly. But I think they are facing internal saboteurs! And they are possibly making the same mistake ex President Jonathan made, not having enough courage to remove non-performers, saboteurs and deadwoods. Secondly, Nigerians should come to terms that the country is virtually broke. They have little money to spend. Income has dropped drastically and Nigeria is carrying too heavy overheads.

And they would have shared 100 million dollars among themselves to mark the successful hosting of the young man! Also, a state dinner costing . That era of waste is gone forever hopefully.

The gap between the official rate and the black market rate of over N100/$ is an incentive for economic fraud of round tripping.
We must seek for ways to improve on the dollar supply side by urgently restoring crude exports to the pre-NDA (short run) and return domestic production to a very healthy status. The foundation to earn fx from other segments of the GDP than crude oil should be laid otherwise this bubbles and burst cycle will continue. We must control our consumption of foreign goods and services otherwise we will eat up our stock of FX on the importation of consumables, kill our industries and jobs for our youth.

i think the problem is that this is not just a demand/supply driven pricing. It is fuelled by corruption. There are supplies to the market through funny channels as alleged. There is also a demand at any price, by those who are sharing money. So, the gap will always be there, moreso when we dont have a windfall to force a stable price through massive supply as SLS did during his tenure.

The Lord Himself said - by their fruits you shall know them. That means that true pastors will show by their fruits. It means also that anybody can call himself a pastor and call his sitting room church. That does not necessarily qualify.

The FG officials opened the door for this mess and must take most of the blame but I also think the cheap photo splash should have been better managed. There are many Nigerians who can give USD390,000. Mike Adenuga has done far more without photosplash. Anyway, be careful next time, so you dont end up taking money from a felon and allowing such photo splash. It can diminish Nigeria a lot.

Taxation is a very good way to raise the revenue bar of the nation..All over the world companies are being taxed ..The media hype against the new tax policy of the Govt should not be taken serious..where the govt get money to run the economy ? All citizens must support the Govt to enable them deliver dividends of democracy .

Listen to the other side of the story. Nigerian businesses are over-taxed. There is doubole and triple taxation every where. There must be fairness in taxation for it to make sense. Businesses will close if you overtax them. Then the poor will suffer more.

This is what the likes of Sanusi and co are suggesting. That FG should tax more to reduce indebtedness. This is why FG is asking him to put the suggestion in writing. Because with one side of the mouth they push FG to more taxes, and with the other the accuse the FG of inflicting suffering.

This will be a bad move. Communications will suffer. People will call less. The economy will shrink further and FG will still earn less.

Our Finance Ministry is really non-performing. Why not look for how to lower costs so that people can invest and spend more and then you boost the economy. Will that not boost the revenue to FG? Why are we fixated on short term short cuts to success?

The telecoms companies grew on the back of lower call rates. Banks grew substantially when they started low cost special products, like low COT accounts.

Any further shrink can cause more harm. PMB beware of bad advices.

Simple common sense should tell some fellows that if you earned all your money from crude, your revenue or income will drop if crude prices drop, and will drop substantially if crude prices drop in that magnitude. So, whats new in that? Anyway, someone once said that you should not expect common sense to be common! people can be so prejudiced that they cannot think straight!

Its just quite hard to see people spread hate and prejudice because they know that our young ones sometimes fail to see through!

The man arrested named his dog Buhari in an attempt to maybe provoke his neighbour, an Hausa man whose father's name is Buhari. I say provoke because everyone I know that has a pet only give their pet names orally. I haven't seen anyone who writes the pet's name on the pet. It is not about doing business in Nigeria, even if we know Nigeria present economic is not encouraging, it is about how long you tend to continue, but when you can't go further, it is always advisable to take a break and realize what is not being right. The man sound like all hope is gone! well this may be his time of failing forward. CBN is failing while FG watches. Is there any bias there? Is the allegation about one bank being taken from the list any true?
