vannessa7: Read this and be enlightened about Tinubus reform
https://www.nairaland.com/8008003/tinubu-builds-country-dreams-nigerians#128586217 The article was trash my dear. Perhaps you are hoodwinked by grammar. I don't have the time to go into detail this morning. But I will just point out a few things. 1. The problem was never subsidy but humongous corruption. In a country where the cost of subsidy jumps from under 300 billion to over 6 trillion in a few years, you should know it's devilish corruption at play. 2. No one removes subsidy 100 percent in one go. That is madness. Only a person trying to destroy his country will do that. It led to a 200 per cent increase in the price of PMS which is the highest price jump in a single day that has ever occurred in the history of PMS in the world BY FAR. Needless to say, the ripple effect crippled the economy. 3. Floating the dollar simultaneously was just madness. The timing was shocking. But beyond the timing, any measure that ensures such alarming devaluation of a national currency is suicidal for any import dependent economy. 4. Thus there are measures that ought to be taken before these huge policies are implemented. Such as ensuring local production of PMS. Such as ramping up exports. The implementation of these polices were disastrous. No one, and I repeat, no one, takes such a huge step only minutes into his administration, in an inauguration speech without consultation. |

seunmsg: I’m in Nigeria and not immune from anything. So, I’m already feeling the pains of the reform. The difference is that I understand the current situation is necessary for the economic recovery and sustainability of the country. The difference is that you are a natural born slave who knows nothing about ECOSOC Rights. Further differences rest in your lack of intelligence, your worship of geriatric and corrupt leaders, your lack of self esteem and self respect and your perception of yourself as born to suffer for the pleasure of a class of rogues and thieves. You also lack the capacity to rigorously interrogate policies and conduct research into similar situations around the world and in history. Your kind is naturally predisposed to endure hunger and deprivation even unto death, and while doing so, you are the kind of person who will praise his murderers and the murderers of his own children. |

The reforms, though painful, is the only sensible option considering our current situation. We must all endure and allow the process to achieve desired outcome. May the reforms locate you accurately in the same way they locate the generality of Nigerians. Amen. |

wirinet: Completely false narrative. Fuel subsidy did not destroy the economy, corruption did.
Here are the avenues of corruption, each of which is more than fuel subsidy. 1. Crude oil theft. The amount of crude oil theft in the high seas per month is more than fuel subsidy per year.
2. The about of fraud in the fuel subsidy itself is more than the actual amount spent subsidizing the fuel in the first place. The house investigation on the fuel subsidy regime revealed that.
3. The amount stolen in other government ministries and parastatals (apart from NNPC), ie Ministries of humanitarian affairs, Works, Aviation, Transport, power, etc, is more that the money paid for subsidy.
4. The amount stolen by the likes of Elumelu, Ovia, Wigwe, along with their banks through round tripping the naira is more than the amount spent on subsidy.
4. The amount stolen by the CBN governor and his cronies and associates is more than the amount spent on subsidy.
5. Finally, there is the question of if there should be subsidy. Why? Because since the 1980s, we are made aware thar Nigeria entered a crude swap agreement with various refineries overseas, whereby we give them crude and they give us petrol, diesel, kerosene and Aviation fuel, while they keep the remaining products as payment. What happened to the crude swap agreement, was is still operational the last 20 years or it was cancelled?
So the number 1 problem of Nigeria was/is corruption. Kill corruption and everything will start working again. Beautiful. Thank you. Nothing to add. |

PoliteActivist: I am NOT the person who set the parameters. Descartes did in his book. He said he'd doubt anything he could remotely doubt. Disregarding that the statement is faulty in itself, Here's the logical sequence of events: 1) There is thinking (this we are fairly sure about) 2) Therefore there must be a thinker (we have no way of knowing this unless we claim we know the true nature of existence, which we don't! Also, the only describable attribute of the thinker is thinking - thinking is the thinker!) 3) That thinker must be "I" (obviously not true) This is crap, sorry, and not worthy of a response. When you write something worthy you know I will respond. |

FourQu: Wrong
I first made a statement, it was left for you to either accept or ignore it BUT immediately you decide to CHALLENGE it then the onus of proof automatically flies from my shoulders and balances squarely on your head
Why didn't you just ignore? why challenge? now you need to bring proof or . . . 🤫 "The Principle of “he who assert must Prove” was coined from the old latin maxim incumbit probatio qui dicit non qui negat which was developed from the old Roman jurisprudence." https://courtsarena.com/burden-of-proof-in-civil-cases-in-nigeria/You made a first assertion - the burden of proof is on you. That burden can only shift under very particular circumstances. |
