thesolutions: Knowledge is power. But who owns the power? Most times, people believe they are enlightened and laughs at the perceived ignorance of others. That, on it own, is a higher form of ignorance. Many claim ignorance is bliss. This is because an ignorant person can not be controlled. But an enlightened person is doomed to seek for more enlightenment. They offer them selves to more controlling thoughts that massages their ego and makes them look down on others that doesn't have such knowledge. This might not be related. But no ignorant person debates about flat earth and round earth. No ignorant person talks about spirits and the multiverse. These are false knowledge pretending to be enlightenment. In the end, it is all about work/play, food and rest. That is all that is common between the enlightened and the ignorant naives. You don't have to be ignorant. But if enlightenment becomes torment, you have derailed. Someone once said that a life not examined is not worth living. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Old Age & God by DeepSight(op): 6:28pm On Apr 27 |
SpyMaster1: You deliberately use the term "enemies of God" over and over because you know it’s inflammatory. You’re not having a calm discussion about death, old age, or suffering. You’re weaponizing a family member’s death to label non-believers as God’s enemies and threaten them with deathbed terror. That’s not preaching. That’s straight-up hostility.
Most reasonable Christians on Nairaland don’t go around calling people who disagree with them “enemies of God.” They understand that death is already painful and frightening for everyone believers and non-believers alike without adding extra condemnation and fear-mongering on top. You keep doing this because it’s the only way you know how to respond when someone raises honest questions about suffering or the realities of life and death. Instead of empathy, you jump to “I pity the enemies of God” and “fear God or you’ll die sweating in terror.”
This kind of language doesn’t draw people to faith. It pushes them away and makes Christianity look harsh and tribal. Sorry for your loss, but using a family member’s death to attack “enemies of God” and declare that even deathbed repentance doesn’t work is not only unhelpful it’s actually cruel.
Stop using tragedy to score points against people who simply don’t share your beliefs. Death is hard enough without your added condemnation.! Bless you for this. I could not say it better. |

Or a prison for souls.
Or a farm.
Because looking dispassionately at this world and this life, it does not seem to be created for altruistic purposes.
The very fact that highly intelligent conscious beings could be kept in a total blackout about their own reality is telling.
Let us share a number of fringe theories about the meaning and purpose of Earth life here. |

TV01: I maintain my position. It is not a claim I make, it is clearly shown from the pages of the biblical text.
God made man in His image God made man to commune with Him The basis for all relationships between God and man and between men is to be love Love does no harm to another. Rather it seeks their best interest - sacrificially if need be! God Himself demonstrated that sacrificial love to us and for us. That's good enough for simple me.
All other religions worldviews or philosophies allow harm. Including atheistic, humanistic and materialist ones. Nothing matches the Christian basis as simply stated above.

Jangbajantis: And there it is!
Same people acting like pressure wouldn’t work are now watching Iran come back to the table.
When there was no serious leverage, Iran was being stubborn. The moment the blockade started biting, suddenly it’s “let’s reopen the strait” and “let’s end the war.” That’s how negotiations usually work. Strength creates urgency.
People mocked the US approach, but now the same pressure they criticized is what pushed Iran to make concessions. Turns out hot air only lasts until real consequences arrive. Just remember that before this war the strait was open. So if you achieve the strait being open after the war, you really have to ask what has changed. |

TV01: You caught me at a good time - I simply cannot keep up with the pace here. Watched the clip 2ce.
Qureshi' argument was not actually responded too. He is correct in stating that atheistic morality cannot be absolute. Dawkins proceeded to create a few strawmen, conflate religions and then assert secular thinking is what drives current day morality.
I have repeatedly stated the biblical writ giving love as the basis for all human interactions. Secular humanist morality gave us the slave trade and a brethren evil - abortion (amongst others). And humanist\secular\material morality will always prove inferior to the biblical basis of love for your fellow man as created in the image of God.
Most of what is claimed to be secular morality (Western style, as it is not universally accepted) has its basis in the bible.
And he couldn't help but liken it to "Intelligent Design" - God that is !
Any more for any more?
TV I mentioned you because of your claim that there is no such thing as the evolution of morality (as per Christian morality at least). |

GloriousGbola: the ten plagues of egypt where all the first sons were lost wetin concern the m,asses with pharoah and moses beef?
what was a dk measuring contest between pharoah and moses- rather than direct plague and pestilence to pharoah it was spread to the every day citizen who had nothing to do with it. the toads could have rained in pharoahs house. the sons in pharoahs palace, boils in his household - but instead everyone else was collateral damage - the same thing trumps army of religious posers are going for
same as the story of job where satan, a fallen angel somehow got the same powers as God and agreed to wipe jobs whole family who had nothing to do with it as a dk measuring contest. then after he passed the test he was dashed a fresh family - almost as if family are npcs that can be discarded and replaced at will Thank you brother. And the problem is that the OT is littered with too many absurd unjust stories like this. Look at the instance where Yahweh murdered 70, 000 Jews because David conducted a census that Yahweh instigated him to conduct!I am sure Patiks will call me an idiot for this again. |

Patiks: Hmmm! Yahweh has committed so much atrocities that you find it so hard to mention one. By the way, don't bother since the people of Jericho were saint in your eyes, every other si-ck depraved mind Yahweh dealt with will definitely be presented as saints. Sigh. This is disappointing. Just tell me their offense. Because this sounds escapist. You actually asked me to cite one unjust war. I cite one and you then claim since I don't know the justification then I am a zombie and you leave it at that. Think about the above. Is that a rational approach from you. Why then did you ask me to cite an example if you were only gonna reply like this. Please go ahead and tell me their offense even if I am a zombie. Thanks. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Explosions And Gunfire As Armed Groups Launch Attacks Across Mali(photos) by DeepSight(m): 10:34am On Apr 27 |
Patiks: Show me one example in the Old Testament where God backed a war that was based on injustice. Its not only wars you know. Its all manner if barbarism and atrocities. But since yo asked for one war, let me ask what was the offense of the people of Jericho. So much for your reading the Old Testament with crystal ball that's filled with murky waters of bias and self-righteousness. I see your impulse is to defend your scripture. That is normal and understandable. Nonetheless the instances of atrocities commissioned by Yahweh in the OT are well known. I did not invent them and they have formed the basis for much controversy over centuries of academic discourse. So dont lash out at me. |
