Go sidon for gutter. You are too foolish to exchange words with. You chose to see what you want to see. Bad belle is your problem. If a child can be crowned king under the guidiance of an elder, why cant that same child sign contract under the guidiance of an experienced elder? What is the big deal that a child is allowed to pursue her dreams? Those child stars, dont they enter contracts through their guardians? Why is that a taboo that she should be allowed to gain knowledge if she so desires? Why is it a problem with you? She is advanced above her years, you on the other hand have a very limited mind. You only work withing the box. This is an opportunity for you to reconsider your archaic belief and take a second look at how she beat the odds and is coping well within the achademic environment. But NO, you can never leave the box. Life can only work the way you belive it should. Asking what I studied, it would not do you any good. No offence my foot. I am 10 days old, how does it help you?
I liken this to.....because a child shouldn't walk before 8 months. And here comes a baby trying to walk at 4 months but friends of the parents get offended that the parents refuse to stop the child from walking claiming she would miss parts of her baby stages. The child loves to read books instead of playing and is succeeding at it with the parents support. Clearly she is passing and forging ahead in her chosen field. She did not bribe the lectures to get promoted unto the next level. That shows she is dedicated to her pursuit. What is your problem again? That they should block her and force her to go play mom and dad in the sand box with her friends?
This is worthless illiterate stupi.dity and I neednt waste my breath further.
Give children drivers liscences, the vote and rights to contract. Make them neuro surgeons.

You are a m.oron.

If everything I have written hasnt woken you up from your morbid and illiterate inferiority complex and your warped perception of Education as mere reading of books, not even the combined efforts of all native deities in your antedlivuvian hamlet will.

Why stop a child from aquiring those skills even if he would not be permited to use them now? And yes, why cant a child vote? Why cant a young child who is skilled and smart enter into contracts? Those rules were set by man not God so go figure. Kings can be crowned at age 8 to rule people even though they are under the guidiance of someone mature which was exactly what I stated before. Why cant young knowledgeable kids do same? I said she should be allowed to learn if it is what she wants and someone mature should take her under their wings until she can function legally. What is wrong in that? Why must you pour water to kill their spark?
My friend, no one is pouring water to kill any spark, and where any spark is seen, it must be nourished: and such nourishment is possible in an abundant array of ways obviously unknown to you, other than rushing the child into a doctorate. Sure a child can acquire skills but there is an appropriate level of maturity required for certain levels of learning, because the student can then combine a certain level of worldly, social and emotional experience of the world with the hard skills being taught and understand how to be a rounded professional with both soft and hard skills at play. Certain lessons are also best not absorbed without a certain degree of understanding for the importance of certain other things. It is on this level that one might appreciate why it is counter productive to teach a child medical skills of a neuro surgeon at an age that the child can never grasp the humanistic subtleties or ethics at play.

I will not even countenance the nonsense you wrote about allowing a child who is smart at contracts enter into contracts. That alone shows what a small minded non-thinker you are. Sad, because one shouldn't even need to be a good thinker to see the pitfalls of that.

What did you study, might I ask?
And also, how old are you?

No offence - these are serious questions.

This gal is missing a lot in her formative social years..I hope it doesn't hurt her in future..
This very crucial point is apparently lost on most here!

There are subjects in universities that a five year old can follow. There is a reason why it is suggested that the child still develops on many other levels before engaging a university education at all. If my child is brilliant enough to be through with high school when he is 6 months old, that will not tempt me into rushing him into university. Obviously I would not even allow such a leap in the first place but my point is that even where a gifted child is fast tracked, for me, I would use the extra time gained to broaden that child's soft skills such as languages, physical activity and engagement in sports of diverse kinds, learning musical instruments and the arts, travel, engagement with a vast array of encyclopedic knowledge as well as extensive social engagement before I consider burdening him with college at what would then be a more suitable time of his or her life. Such a child would have gained unspeakable advantages and be far more robust that most of its peers.

When your chilld shows such skills, knowledge and passion, feel free to dump water on his/her fire and kill the spark. Leave this one, her degree no affect you in anyway.
Stop personalizing the issue, you are tempting me to believe you are not properly educated on anything.
It has significant societal connotations when growing children are denied a proper childhood in a bid to super-excel the development level of their peers. Mind you this takes nothing away from making special provisions for Gifted Children. Right here in Nigeria we had a special school for Gifted Children (I hope it still exists). However fast-tracking a 13 year old to PHD studies will surely take away very important aspects of the Child's natural development which are very crucial for growing into a balanced and well rounded adult. I say again, Education is much more than reading books but I am surprised that this is lost on you. Perhaps you think people go to University only to read specific courses and nothing more.

Aside from those very obvious humanistic concerns perhaps you should avert your mind to the simple questions I hinted at, when you advocated making 15 year old neuro surgeons if they have the "ability". Ability in your mind is obviously an academic issue alone and just knowing that about you saddens me, as it is also true of the thinking of many parents eager to see their child more brilliantly acclaimed than any others. It is a shallow, ignorant and irresponsible attitude to parenting.

So just answer the questions:

1. Why not give a super talented 10 year old driver the legal right to drive?

2. Why not give a super talented 10 year old political analyst the right to vote?

3. Why not give a super talented 10 year old legal mind the right to enter into contracts?

Please just show me that you have an education by providing quality answers to these which should help along your view that you may thrust the responsibilities of a neuro surgeon on a 15 year old as well.

Don't worry about what I will do with my child prodigy - if at all I ever am blessed with a child. Just answer the above for now.
Thank you.

Like I said, if she can, why not? Broaden your mind. Nothing is set on stone in life. If she is matured in her brain and mind and she willingly dedicates time to do it, then why stop her? Most that should be done is to put her under the tutelage of a qualified master to guide her until she can be trusted to handle things unsupervised rather than stopping her from pursuing her dreams and goals. I a sure if she had won a rap contest people would have been ooohhing and wowing by now.
This is irresponsible.
There is a reason there exists an age of majority for heavens sake.

Or do you think that is nonsense too?
And here you are advocating that children who are not permitted to drive, to vote or to enter contracts - should be allowed to take up such advanced medical responsibilities as even neuro surgery.

You are being both irresponsible and ignorant.

Have you considered the various ethical and complex emotional decisions a neuro surgeon has to wade through, and do you consider that a 15 year old may have the maturity to handle and balance such, as well as the stamina to witness trauma professionally?

Do you think such can be acquired by passing exams by fifteen?

This is the only sensible comment I have read on this thread.

It is a sad commentary on our own perception of what education is, that most commentators here think it is mostly about what is read in books. People, the education of a human being is a process of self consciousness and place in society - ever before it becomes a return in value to society.

What is being celebrated here has potential to gravely damage that Child's balanced development and social integration.

BuariCopyPaste:
Dear members...i am of the type that says NO to bringing marital shortcomings to the social media but I just realized why others do so.
I formerly got married on Tuesday 18th April but we are already headed for a bitter divorce.

To cut the story short, the whole issue started at the ground of our traditional marriage(Igba Nkwu).
On arriving her dad's compound, I was stunned to realize her mother didn't make the provisions of which I paid her for.
The DJ wasn't on ground, the canopies were just 3 and looking dirty, the chairs were not up to half of what i paid for. There was no light, no microphone, no decorations, the few food cooked were not served to guest and I was devastated.
Out of anger and dissappointment, I started lashing out at my wife and she broke down in tears begging me for forgiveness.
We managed to forge ahead till the the ceremony ended and we headed for my house.
As our tradition demands, the newly married bride sees off her Aso ebis and return in the evening same day to welcome visitors. But alas, my wife went and never came back till Friday evening.

I queried her on her whereabout only for her reply in a harsh manner saying "where do you expect me to be", don't make me angry"
God!! I couldn't believe it as it made me more mad in anger so I asked her to return to wherever she's coming from and leave our son behind(yes we already a year and 10 months old son). I actually made this decision to save face else how do I clarify the absence of my wife and son to visitors and well-wishers trooping in to see them?
She hurriedly dashed into the room and picked her phone and stormed out of the house. Now her mother is accussing me of taking her daughter's son from her and stripping her of her belongings.

Now my wife is saying she's no longer interested in the marriage likewise her people(her father is late). I am still fuming with anger that I am at loss of what to do. I am not prepared to raise my son alone neither do I want him to be raised by her mother alone.

Should I initiate a peace move and apologize to her or should I move on with life.....I am seriously confused and fuming with anger that I was shortchanged and offended and still expected to offer apologies.
Ol boy, you never jam. This is a small insignificant issue. Resolve it and move on.
BTW i dont see why you were not more active in planning the trad. You just handed out cash and expected them to do the rest?

I sincerely hope you dont deploy the same s.illy attitude to business.

Thank you. Perhaps my position may be better understood by those with learning difficulties if I stated it like this.

Superficially It appears like I'm saying that ' You can't say God XYZ'. But those that are gifted with incisive discernment will realise that I'm saying that 'God is just as much NOT-XYZ as he is XYZ'. Subsequently what is the point of saying 'God is XYZ'.
Terming and naming things doesn't just tell us what they are, they also tell us what they are not. That is the whole meaning of the word 'term'. A Term is something that has limits. A term could be a limited span of time. Or a term could refer to an object with boundaries and limits such as a shoe box. A shoe box is not also everything that is NOT a shoe box.

Language, words, and terms, are used and have evolved precisely to communicate facts about objects that have limits. They refer to terms. God is not a term. Yet one can say he also is a term. Thus we have paradox. Paradox for me is just where Logic and human reasoning meets ultimate realities.

Ultimately we are talking about where all dichotomies, either or, this or that, here or there, now or then, etc etc etc break down and are no longer workable.
On reflection I think I may see where you are coming from: but: does this imply that all discussion on God would be DOA.
In short, that no one may have a sensible discussion on the idea of God?

Everything in this so called 'simulated reality' including our body, AND our sense of individuality, distinct person is subject to change. Thus 'taking of' the 'visor'/body has just as much effect on our experience as taking off our underwear. Why should you trust that what ever it is you see on after death is an ultimate reality? Why shouldn't the 'simulated reality' continue?
Probably does continue - on another level though

Furthermore, people don't have to die to get a sense of experiencing a deeper substrate to reality.
They dont have to, but they might go slightly cuckoo with real OBEs

In what will be a break from tradition, the newly selected paramount ruler of the Tiv people, James Ayatse, has declined to take his oath of office before “Swem”, the traditional god of the Tiv people.
Mr. Ayatse, a professor, and two-term Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, and University of Mkar, has instead opted to be sworn in as the fifth Tor Tiv with the Bible, the holy book of his Christian faith.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee for the Coronation of the Tor Tiv V, Atom Okpera, a retired army general, disclosed this at a press conference in Gboko, Benue State on Thursday.
Swem is the traditional god of the Tiv people and has its shrine in the palace of the Tor Tiv in Gboko.
If Mr. Ayaste’s decision stands, he will be the first Tor Tiv not to take his oath of office at the shrine of the Swem. The four previous holders of the office had always invoked the powers of the Swem, whom the Tiv people revere as a “just god”, in ruling over the people.
The Swem, according to Tiv tradition, adjudicates disputes among Tiv people without fear or favour, ensuring justice irrespective of economic, political and social status of the parties to a dispute.
According to the statement by the coronation committee, other traditional rite for the coronation began on Wednesday in Gboko, with the climax and grand finale scheduled for Saturday at the Gboko mini stadium from10:00 a.m.
At the ceremony, Tiv sons and daughters were advised to appear in Tiv traditional attires. The Tiv are the dominant ethnic group in Benue State, but they are also found in large numbers in neighbouring Taraba State.

Christianity Etc › The Human Body Is Implausible, Incongruous And Shows Life To Be An Illussion by DeepSight(op):
That life is an illusion is something that I have since made peace with. Sometimes though, I wonder if the other participants (or other conscious programs if you like) within this illusion called life (if they are conscious at all) recognize that life is indeed an illusion. I have only met two other persons who are like me absolutely convicted about this illussionary nature of our existence, and without attempting to appeal to authority let me say that they are both eminently distinguished persons who excel not just in their fields of human endeavor alone. In short, I mean to say that they are not bananas. And neither, am I.

Now let me come more closely to my subject: It has to do with the human body - human anatomy.

I say, that the human body is so implausible an object, so contradictory in its existence, indeed such a queer admixture of meat and mind, that it wholly discloses itself to be an illusion, an unreal thing: a mirage - something that is in fact not there at all: a hoax of a machine set only to appear as a being.

In this thread I will set about showing and proving this: and I will do so by reviewing the human body with respect to:

~ 1. The implausibility of the human head

~ 2. The mortality of human meat

Other Heads of discussion will be added as we go along. For now, let us start with the human head: and how it discloses very clearly that it is a biochemical rag-doll which is in fact illusionary - nothing but a virtual reality Visor which must be removed at death.

To do this, we are going to examine carefully a bare human skull as against a living human persons head.

I vomited 77 times after going through thE original post!!!
I have tried to restrain myself from doing same after reading yours.

1.The "op" seems not to understand the difference between metaphysics(the realm of fiction/mental illness) and pure physics!!!
Discourses on metaphysics do not necessarily indicate fiction or mental illness.

2.Remember that philosophy gave us a concept known as the "philosophical nothing'' but in reality, there is no such thing as nothing!!! Nowhere on Earth will you find complete emptiness!!! There is always something there(air, sub atomic-particles,heat,photons)!!!
People have different philosophical points of view, and in mine, there is no such thing as nothing either.

If anything I would say that its mathematics that gives us a concept of nothing in the term "zero".

3.In philosophy/religion, we also have foolish concepts like "it was created", but modern science has proven that the word creation is a highly erroneous notion!!! The more accurate term would be, "the rearrangement of pre-existing material into new forms"!!! This is why it is only a fool who will claim that a carpenter created a wooden chair!!! For all the molecules that exist in the wooden chair have always existed!!!
This is simply nonsense. Using pre-existing materials to make something new does not in anyway change the fact that the result is something new. You are saying that no one created aircraft or computers for example. You are merely quibbling with words in a pedantic fashion. I can construct a house from sand, this does not mean it is absurd to say that I created that house from raw materials.

Please go and familiarize yourself with the concepts of creatio ex nhilo, creatio ex deo and creatio ex materia.
It is not always suggested that creation happened from nothingness. Only in the blue above is that suggested. Both of the red suggest otherwise.

4.And lastly, we have outdated and outmoded sayings like, "gravity is a force'!!! But modern science has finally revealed to us that Gravity is simply the curvature in the space-time continuum!!!
Thus it is impossible for a curvature to cause a forceful pull to exist which people may refer to nonetheless as a force?
As I said, you are simply quibbling on words in a pedantic fashion.

Na wah for this ancient and archaic philosophers trying to squeeze their heads into the science classrooms!!!

Philosophy is truely the study of "failed models" of the human brain
A little education can be a terrible thing.

But then again. . .by your logic. . .one can look a knife and imagine it to be an invention of a creator who wants it to be a weapon of war. 'How can this knife, with a suitable grip and a sharp, short, blade be anything but a weapon of war?'

Likewise, someone can look at the knife and decide it is the work of a creator who designed it to be an excellent cooking utensil for cutting up things in the kitchen with ease.

I could also give the example of the steam engine. When it was 'invented', it had no purpose at all. Absolutely no use at all. It just looked cool. It was almost 50-100 years later that it was discovered that it could be used for powering trains.

Yet another example is one that applies to us, humans. We had always thought of sex as a natural mechanism for reproduction, with pleasure as a by product. Now, observation of homosexual behaviour, MouthAction, and other 'strange' sexual behaviours in over 1500 and counting species of animals has made scientists reconsider it, to be the other way round- sex for pleasure, with reproduction as a by product.

So, sir, I'm going to have to disagree with you here. I don't think observation of something is enough to deduce that it was created for a specific purpose.
I think you are wrong for the following reasons:

1. All the examples you have cited still dwell upon purposes of one sort or the other being deduced from observation of something. Whether a Knife is intended to be used as a cooking utensil or as a weapon, both still remain purposes and deduction of either purposes still arises from observation of the nature of the Knife. One may deduce that it was made to be used as either - or even for something else entirely based on observation. It is unlikely that you would conclude that it was designed as clothing, as a meal, or as a means of transportation by air though, just to give examples. In the same way se.x may be observed to be for pleasure or reproduction, this still takes nothing away from the fact that observing se.xual behavior and consequences tells us that it may be for either. Both instances, in short, still disclose purposes deduced from observation.

I doubt that you would deny that walking for example, is amongst the purposes of legs: even where the legs serve many other functions. Ears not just hear, but also give balance to the body.

2. Anything that you can ever comment upon, or make a conclusion of any kind upon, would always be based on observation of one kind or the other.

Finally, somethings are too obviously designed for certain purposes to be denied. Such as eyes being for sight, the tongue being for speech, digestion, taste amongst other things. The way some of our atheists argue though, I would not be surprised if they tell me one day that sight is only an accidental by-product of the existence of the eyes, and that no such thing as sight is the prime purpose of the eyes. Afterall, Dawkins himself wrote that it is theoretically possible for a fully formed eye to spring into existence in a single random mutation, or something along those lines.

We shall see

In fact, in less thanone day after your almighty protest, we will start having at least 24 hours electricity per day, fuel pump price will become 65NGN, at least all our refineries will automatically become functional, 1USD will become 1NGN, minimum wage will become 100,000NGN, international oil price will become 150USD per barrel, but most importantly, President Buhari will honorably resign and Tuface Idibia will become our new president!!!

Is that not what the almighty protest is all about?
You are a f.ool.

Maclatunji - Sometimes I wonder what sort of human being you are. You are severely deprived in every sense of the word. You lack intelligence, and you even lack commonsense. Every fibre of your being rebels against anything that makes sense. You live in your Islamic hovel like some bovine recidivist, you have a low and contemptible mind, you are devastatingly ignorant, backward and unenlightened, and every human being has a right to feel slighted by God for being born the same specie as you.

Your view on the protest mirrors the above.

Whats the difference between this and the ritual human sacrifice of Jesus which Christians believe washes away their sins.

^^^ By the way please tell me more about this:

"I shall Crush the Host of the swine. Hurl away their goblet of wine. Drink from the chalice of light. Consume this cosmic might. For those with eyes to see, let them behold. Those who refuse let them incur the mirth of saints."
