Viaro/ Nuella - What do you make of these - 1. Multi-Millionaire Christians who give gifts of luxury M. Benzs and BMWs to Pastors who already own a dizzying number of cars 2. Multi-Millionaire christians who purchase private jets as gifts for Pastors. Might i just add that the above are not hypothetical but real-life events that have happened and continue to happen in Nigeria. Thanks in advance. |
davidylan:Another confirmation of what i have said repeatedly: There is nothing even remotely christian about Davidylan. And i'm afraid this is the very embodiment of the worst form of hypocrisy in religion. What sort of "christ-like" person would make this sort of statement ? ? ? ? |
YES, YES AND YES AGAIN. WOMEN ARE GODDESSES MEANT TO BE WORSHIPPED AND PAMPERED OVER AND OVER AGAIN. MEN ARE THEIR SLAVES WHO MUST SUBMIT ALL INCOME FOR HER PEDICURE.

More votes please; even though i understand Terry was dropped yesterday and Ferdinand selected. |
Thanks for the comment but i only made the thread because w had a little argument in the house about who would make a better captain - Rooney or Gerrard. So we decided to put the question to the vote. Please fill the poll, thanks. |
David you too disappeared for a really long while and i have missed you sorely. I miss Noetic too very very much. |
Please fill the poll - In the event that John Terry is deposed as England Captain, who do you think should be the next captain for the England National Team? 1. Wayne Rooney 2. Steven Gerrard Thanks. |
Great points Viaro - I am off for some Guiness Stout now and will revert comprehensively later. But for now let me just drop a few notes - On Dieseases - 1. The very same biological systems which prompt supposed mutations also develop antibodies to deal with dieseases. Many creatures become immune to most forms of infection after a sustained period of dealing with such infections. Why does the body develop such antibodies and immunities? Why are bodies not made such that they do not resist infection and death? Why the resistance? Survival again. What is actuating this? A propelling factor towards life, perhaps? On Extinctions - 2. Is it not the case that many extinctions require a disruption to nature beforehand? Such as a meteorite hitting the Earth, or mankind's industrial activity, etc etc. In other words that such extinctions are actually not within the natural order? 3. That said, there are some extinctions that actually pave the way for new life and a new cycle of creatures. . . but the very fact that biological systems independently struggle towards survival (whether or not they actually give way to extinction eventually) is indicative of the forward pressure of nature in favour of LIFE. . .What actuates this? Be right back. . .(maybe with a hangover, in the morning) |
At this stage i must introduce a question on the subject that i think is pertinent - When supposed mutations occur that enhance the ability of a creature to competitively survive - 1. Does the creature consciously "think" that it requires the mutation and therby begins to stimulate its brain to derive the mutation over generations or - 2. Does the supposed mutation occur over generations unconsciously, without the awareness of the creature. The first supposition is eminently false and a farce - just a joke really. The second supposition is the correct supposition and shows that biological elements are at work improving "survivability" even when the creature is totally unaware of the activity of such elements. What are these elements? What actuates the elements to derive developments in the biological make-up of the creature which further its survivability and thereby furthers life? |
Viaro - Its been a while. How are you doing? Extinction does occur. But when some species go extinct, other species go on to survive. Indeed natural selection as a theory is based on the very extinction of species that were unable to survive. The theory which states that some species change and develop competitive features which enhance survival begs the question - What actuates the development of such features? Survival. Why the need to survive? What is the Earth's/ Nature's/ the universe's (whichever you choose) interest in survival, such that creatures are impelled to develop features that enhance survival? Does this not point to a propelling element furthering life? Can you tell me what actuates the need to survive? |
Premise 1 - We are living intelligent beings that do not know how or why we got here - Premise 2 - We also see around us a vast universe that we know we did not create - Conclusion - Whatever the ultimate cause or rationale for existence is: it is something that - 1. Has existed before us 2. Is more compound than we are 3. Is powerful - given the size of the universe alone. Even uneducated minds can perceive this - thus men throughout the ages have called this cause God. There is nothing wrong with deference to that which is beyond you; which is what the worship of God is. |
@ Krayola - Be careful in reading my words. I said natural selection as a theory posits a a process that furthers life. This is a scientific fact that you cannot deny. The question you need to ask yourself is - WHY? Why is there supposedly that inbuilt mechanism to develop competive features that enhance survival chances? Why is it not simply that creatures rather than mutate or develop, just die off as a whole? Why is the process driven by survival? ? ? What actuates survival? ? ? Why is there the need for anything to survive? ? ? |
The fundamental principle of evolution is development of species through natural selection. Natural Selection is based on the notion that favours survival of the fittest. Creatures supposedly develop features over time that enable them to survive competitively within the natural world. Thus Evolution and natural selection tend firmly towards life and survival. This in itself clearly presupposes that nature is life-driven - as it continuously hones its creatures towards life. Perhaps the question should be asked: why is this? Why is nature interested in the furtherance of life? It is paradoxical as a strictly material universe surely could not be bothered about furthering life. It thus emerges that the very principle of natural selection which operates to further life is compelling evidence that the entire system we live in is life-driven and grows towars the furtherance of life. Why is this? A good answer to my mind would be the existence of God - Ultimate Life, as it were. Because it is glaring that if LIFE by itself were not a living pulsating reality, nature could just as easily have tended towards death or annihilation. Evolution proves the existence of God! |
Malbron as you advised me the other day: its a waste of energy. Odd people who believe that Elijah went into "heaven" (wherever that is) with his physical body simply cannot be reasoned with. |
I am sorry Jagunlabi, I was just a bit irritated at what i sometimes see as knee-jerk antagonism to God or spirituality. |
What is this, an atheist's conference? So MOGANALA are still dancing around in circles deceiving themselves? Are you all not tired of coming here to reinforce each other's shaky and apprehensive notions of meaninglessness? Why are you circling around like vultures confirming to one another an absurdity? Why are you celebrating ignorance? Look at this one - jagunlabi:Siddharta Gautama the Buddha was a man who preached abstinence from materialistc tendencies in order to reach enlightenment. HE NEVER SAID ANYTHING WHATSOEVER ABOUT GOD OR GODS, SO WHJAT ARE YOU ON ABOUT? ? ? ? |
Bawo - i referred specifically to those homosexuals whose orientation is a result of having an excess of opposite s.ex hormones. |
Dad 1: Junior, if you kick your ball in the house I will smack you. Go and play outside my friend!!So what does Dad 2 do when Junior ignores his words and PERSISTENTLY disobeys him. Keep applying the same tactic interminabbly and expect different results? Are you sure that would not be breeding a monster out of Junior who believes he is beyond reproach? |
lack of insulin leads to diabetes, is being gay comparable to a disease? You guys are on something elseIn the hormonal misbalancing terms that i mentioned, it is incontestably a hormonal disorder and thus perfectly akin to a diesease. |
What do you mean there wa sno duress? Do you know how many hundreds and thousands of people were killed, hanged and burnt to death in Europe for not accepting Christianity or church dogma? |
You have not got my question. Why should my bread of life be an ancient dead Jewish Rabbi? Why not Agege Bread (I:e - why not an indigenous religion/ philosophy of life?) What's wrong with Agege bread (i:e - what's wrong with indigenous religious perspectives? Wwhy must we buy foreign myths hook line and sinker? Why is it that the white man did not accept Shango OR oGUN, but we accept Yahweh - most likely a tribal pagan god elevated by the Jews to be wqorshipped as GOD. What this means is that if the yoruba's had conquered the world, then the whit eman most likely today would be worshipping Shango as GOD.) |
Its even worse with their Gender Apartheid. But no need to isolate the muslims, many religions have terrible ills. |
^^^ You criminal Krayola! I dey wait you o |
Let's say i am an old sage who has tired of the physical realm and is eager to see what rests on the other side (if anything). I take my life. What is wrong with that? |
Tudor/ Krayola - I appreciate your points, and i will be doing a thorough response to your concerns shortly. But before i do that might i ask one question if you will oblige me - What would you suggest are acceptable methods of discipline for a stubborn child? Please note i used the word discipline. |
Why should an ancient nomadic Jewish rabbi be the bread of life when there is still agege bread? ? ? ? ? What is wrong with agege bread? |
^^^^ Brilliant Pastor. I am soooooo tired of the whole idea of "giving" in expectation of a reward. That is not "giving" but a calculated investment no different from a Shylock. |
I cannot see myself being suicidal. It is decidedly un-african. We believe in sitting tight, and rather than die, would seek ![]() However we must respect the right to merci-killing (Euthanasia). It is barbaric to prolong the suffering of terminally ill persons who are incapacitated to such a degree as to render further life absolutely worthless. Further i must say also that if death is viewed as a transition from one realm to the next, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with suicide - it is just as harmless as a man going from Lagos to Abuja. |
In addittion to the foregoing, it is also verifiable science that some men have degrees of female hormones that make them more prone to desire fellow males and some females have degrees of male hormones that render them masculine in many ways, and thus more prone to desire women. It is certain that these are physiological and biological disorders and the reverse cannot be argued any more than it can be argued that a man with excess or insufficient insulin in his blood is not suffering from a biological disorder. |
Come on Tudor. We all despise child abuse in all its forms. Guys a little smack to correct an errant child should not be exxagerated as child abuse, assault or battery. I think that's an overstatement and y'all know it. @ Krayola - Thank you for your question. I think the difference is the intent and purpose towards which such action is deployed and the legal rights associated therewith - Intent & Purpose A child's mind is at a formative stage and a firm parental hand may be required (in reasonable proportions only!) for corrective purposes. The same cannot be said of an adult. Particularly it is a parental responsibility to guide the development of the child's mind, but i am certain you will agree that it is not a husband's responsibility to attempt to guide the "development" of an already developed mind - the mind of his adult wife. Legal Rights In legal terms children are minors and as such are not able to excercise many legal rights - a few examples are contractual rights, purchase of age-grade goods and the vote. The parent as legal guardian excercises certain legal rights for the purpose of shaping the child's future. This in itself is implicit recognition within the social contract that a parent must perforce have certain rights superceding the prerogatives of the child for the purpose of raising the child. On this ground alone, i may build a strong argument against your question because as a full adult, a wife is not legally subjugated to any supervening rights of her husband (except in Islamic jurisdictions). |
G1 - I think its rather extreme to call a woman a LovePeddler simply because she has had a child out of wedlock. I certainly do not believe in the virgin birth - as i expressed earlier in this thread. But on reflection the mere fact that she may have had sex (and you cannot tell what the circumstances were: could have been rape/ coercion, fun, whatever) outside her relationship does not make her a LovePeddler. I think you should address the myth of the virgin birth and expose it for what it is - rather than call her a LovePeddler. |
My father only took a whip to me once in my entire life. He had specifically asked me to stay indoors as it was raining - he knew i loved playing in the rain and ending up with a cold. I disobeyed him and went out playing in the rain. The result was four good lashes. He came to me afterwards and said that he was sorry. He went further to explain that it was very wrong for me to directly disobey him in the way that i did. I understood. He was the kindest and most loving man ever. Soft to a fault most times. What point am i trying to make? Let's not get ahead of our selves. A smack here or there to correct a stubborn child cannot reasonably be classed as abuse. Such discipline can surely be meted out lightly, reasonably and within proportion. I believe that an excess of it, however, will definitely amount to abuse. So its really about proportion. I know a house-help that we once had who lived with us with her four year old daughter. There was a day that the daughter did something that she did not like and she disciplined the child by taking her into a corner and rubbing freshly ground pepper into the girl's v.agina. I sh.it you not - this really happened. Now that is definitely the worst form of child abuse. I need to say that sometimes i believe the western world takes things out of proportion. Who will deny a parent the right to smack a child to set him straight - if done in reasonable proportion? It is surely a gross exaggeration to state that my father abused me - on account that i got a few lashes for disobeying him and playing in the rain. Its all about reasonable proportion. |
