PoliticsRe: Afenifere: Buhari Sees Nothing Wrong In Northern Leaders' Inciting Statements by Deepthoughts: 11:44am On Oct 18, 2019
Dreal1247:
They are political statements intended to actually test the strength and the capability of the South to resist their action. Look at what the Vice President is facing just because he stands qualified to be the best President if given the opportunity. And nobody is talking. If not for him, only God knows what would have become of the threats from the Niger Delta agitators. Also our exchange rate would have climbed to #600.00 per US Dollar. He brought it down to #360.00 during the short opportunity given to him. Yet, he has been singled out for humiliation. It was only his Helicopter that nearly crashed during campaign. If all the southern leaders fail to see reasons to come together, then, they are foolish. But they should know that if they fail to do the needful, God will raise neutral voices for his people are render them useless in His own way.
I almost agree completely with you but for sidelining the south east I don't think you are sincere n fair, Nigeria must not continue to treat igbos as outcast if we are talking about justice n equity,in 1999 it was the north that brought obasanjo with out him investing anything in pdp so let the same northerners look for an igbo man of their choice at least n give him power too.

But Kano and Lagos Governments have appointed Igbos and others.Kano had even non indegene as a Governor. Shekarau is from Biu in Borno State. Even the one time Governor Sabo Bakin Zuwo is Of Nupe origin while Tanko Yakasai is Jukun from Taraba. You are simply intolerant and retrogressive in your thinking.
you are wrong,in the Islamic culture of northern Muslims, where ever one is born he is accepted as an indegene irrespective of where his parents came from, but this is not the case with non Muslim ethnic groups, now going by what you said it means the Muslims should be allowed to impose their culture on others!, that's unacceptable, the igbos n yorubas wouldn't accept it,in fact the igbos n yorubas n most other ethic groups apart from the hausa/fulani are not always interested in claiming indegeneship but the right to live n carry out their endeavors in peace in accordance with the laws of the land, all the so call political appointments you mentioned are purely for political purposes, let those people request to be accepted as indegenes n you will see the results.the hausa/fulani will come to a land, refused to accept n obey the laws of the land as been against their religion, ask to be giving preferencial concession n treatment,n becomes violent where their objectives are not met whereas they wouldn't accept same in their land, this is what is happening in plateau, benue n taraba states, this is even same with Islamic countries.its time a law is made to define indegineship n citizenship in the country if not we shall continue to face all the problems,we can choose to pretend but as long as we fail to confront our problems practically n factually we shall continue to get the bitter repercussions.

Kenneth Udeh, Abuja

The Kogi State Government has requested the sum of N10.69 billion from the Federal Government for the settlement of debts incurred locally and refund for projects executed on behalf of the Federal Government.

President Buhari, in a letter written to Senate President Ahmed Lawan, which was read during Tuesday’s plenary, requested for the resolution of the Senate for the approval of the sum to be issued to the Kogi State Government.

President Buhari noted in the letter that the federal projects were duly verified by the Federal Government.

The letter read in parts:

“Dear distinguished Senate President,

Request for the resolutions of the National Assembly for the issuance of 10.69 Billion promissory Million Naira Promissory notes to Kogi State Government under the promissory notes programme and a bond issuance to certain inherited local debts and contractual obligations of the Federal Government to refund to states for project executed on behalf of the Federal Government.

“The distinguished Senate President will recall that based on my request for the resolution of the National Assembly approving the establishment of a promissory note programme and a bond issuance for certain inherited local debts and contractual obligations of the Federal Government, the 8th national assembly passed resolutions approving the issuance of promissory notes to refund state Governments for projects executed on behalf of the Federal Government.”

The Senate President further President Mandated the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts to handle the request and report back within two Weeks.

And someone will say buhari has integrity, what federal projects has yahaya bello executed exactly that other state governor's has not,why must the refund be made now with elections at hand, why didn't buhari made this same refund to ekiti while fayose was the governor even long before the elections there only to pay fayemi immediately after he "saintly" won the elections, it's now crystal clear that once you are ready to worship n do the dirty deals for buhari you can never be wrong.

Just try to be truthful sometimes bro. The fact that you are partisan shouldn't make you a hypocrite.

The supreme Court did justice to the APC rascality in Rivers State and made sure they never had candidates for the general elections, I never saw your criticisms (like you would have done if it was your party) because it massaged your political alignment.

This same supreme Court delivered judgement against the APC in Zamfara (which is right also) even after the general elections but I never saw your criticisms too because it favoured your party.

Why is it that any judgement against your party attracts insults against the judiciary?

With this kind of hypocritic mindset from most of you guys in this forum, I don't think Nigeria has a future in the nearest future.
The major interest of buhari gang is the retention of federal power not states,so those judgements you reference good as they were could simply have been used as a smoke screen, the attitude of buhari to the emergence of a Christian southern CJN right from on set was a clear indication of his sinister agenda.

Proxy in the sense of partners who will include them and not relegate them as everyone fear Igbos capable of doing. It will be an SW Presidency but the point is that that North can sleep easy knowing they will not be discriminated against or at the end of unfavourable policies that may be punitive for the North and good for others. They feel the SW will carry them along better than the SE for sure. Unfortunately, Igbos are responsible for how the North perceives them.
So why are the northerners so scared of been descriminated against or been at the receiving end of unfavourable policies?,it simply means the north knows they have never been fair in their handling of the country's affairs n they fear for the repercussions but for them to feel comfortable with you as their proxies,it then means they consider you to be weak n easily manipulable n it's not something you should be proud of or celebrate.if this is the reason they don't trust igbos n you happily support them then you are the real sabotuers to the true unity n progress of the country.

This is what we keep telling SE and SS folks. Even Northerns hawks agree it must be SW if the North cannot retain the Presidency in 2023. The North does not and will not trust the Igbos for a long time to come. No wahala with SS but GEJ was there for 5 years directly before PMB so the region cannot be allowed back to do what is a possible 8 years to add to 5 equalling 13 years out of 21. imposificant. Nigeria will have a SW President in 2023. Igbos won't like to hear that but this is the reality and the North will make it happen because the Yorubas are the allies they know they can completely rely on by proxy if they themselves cannot be in power.
And you are happy that the SW would have to be a proxy of the north!,do you think such a SW presidency will achieve anything meaningful, buhari can as well change the Constitution n rule indefinitely then.

PoliticsRe: South East, PDP, And The Politics Of 2023 by Deepthoughts: 10:05pm On Oct 12, 2019
SOUTH EAST: IS IT NOT TOO LATE?

I have read the recent transmissions by Senator Bukola Saraki directed at my Igbo tribe. I have deliberately kept mum on this as I had earlier resolved to speak less on Igbos as regards the 2019 Elections and 2023 Presidency having said quite a bit.

However seeing as some of my brethren have swallowed the cheap bait, I will chip this in just to keep the reality before us, at least for posterity sake. Truth is bitter but it's still the best medicine.

My people say; 'He who does not remember where the rain started beating him, will not remember where it stopped'.

REWIND TO 2014.
A new National Party was being conceived. Political Parties, political players and Regions were being wooed to the new alliance.

'We' Igbos (read South East) vehemently refused to touch it even with a long pole. We packaged, sold to ourselves and bought the baseless propaganda that it was an Islamic alliance that would birth an "Islamic" and "Hausa" Party. Simply because those our brethren heavily invested in the PDP at the time were afraid of losing their vested selfish interests.
Till today I'm still trying to fathom the basis for that wicked and twisted deceit especially as many of those Igbo elites who sold that dummy have since ported to the same APC.

We failed to even identify with that new Alliance. Hence the Party, APC was birthed without any remarkable input from us or presence. The few amongst us who aligned were called all kinds of names and abused to high heavens by us even when they were proven right afterall.

Thus the few Igbos who were part of it were at best fringe players as they didn't have the required clout to make serious demands and do the necessary political wheeling and dealing required in Politics to strike the hard bargains since politics is all about interests and numbers. They were even suspect, so much so that it was only their personal political sagacity that gave them whatever they got.

That Party went on to win the Presidential Election which in truth, most of us never believed it could or would, because of our half baked permutations and poor understanding of Nigerian politics. But it did.

Curiously we turned up at the fore front of telling this same Party how it should share it's 'spoils of war'. We became hypocritical moral champions with an over bloated sense of entitlement. Who does that, in all political reality and practicality? But we did, even while vehemently and vociferously still refusing to shift our position, style and rhethoric.

We dug in. Supported every bad thing and person against the Party, the elected President and the Administration while denying any and every good done to and for our Region.

Fast forward to where we are today. Almost four years after the 2015 misadventure, we have stayed put at 2015, refusing to move forward, refusing to shift grounds, refusing to play pragmatic politics, telling ourselves the same lies we cooked and bought in 2015 and some more.

Now barely 5 months to another election, we have started again saying "APC cannot give Presidency to Igbos in 2023". "Buhari cannot hand over to an Igbo man because Buhari hates Igbos". "APC is deceiving you", bla bla bla.

Of course. We will believe Saraki, who has only but a fanthom dream of becoming President and whose only known record is selfishness but we can't believe Buhari who's already President and who has a record of voluntarily picking two great Igbo sons as running mates in the past? Chukwu aju.

It is interesting and vital to note here that the PDP which many of us still proudly support and adore was in power for 16 solid years and in those years there were 4 Presidential Inaugurations and on none of those was an Igbo man found worthy by the PDP of even Vice Presidency and we are still bold to say it is the APC that has not even finished one tenure that doesn't want to give power to Igbos. Odi nma.

NOW; Seriously, let's be sincere. As things stand today politically, why would the APC even hand power to us Igbos in 2023?
On what grounds?
On what records?
On what politics?
Is power given to anyone?
Is it an appeasement or a gift?

The APC is a political party. The main focus of a political Party is to hold power and keep it to enable it deliver on its agenda. So if the APC reads that the SE does not want the Presidency or does not have the capacity to help them win and keep power, they will stick with the regions that can and work with individuals who are interested.

Make no mistake, I have always said, I do not blame us Igbos for the decision majority of us took in 2015. It's our right. But continuing to pretend that it was other regions, Buhari or the APC that made us do what we did then or remain where we are today is purely self deceit and I refuse to play that ostrich game.

As far back as 2014, I and many others made that argument that Igbo Presidency was very feasible in 2023, ONLY under under the APC, ONLY IF we did a couple of things right politically. I personally continued to speak loudly on that even after the 2015 elections until when I realized that we were not ready to play the politics that was required and now I dare say it may be too late. Or is it not? Time will tell.

For now, we can continue to tell ourselves that we cannot hold the Presidency of Nigeria. I heard and read many of our brethren go from PDP to Biafra/seccesion (read IPOB) to Referendum to "Igbos do not need Presidency but Restructuring" etc forgetting that all that didn't lie squarely with us alone. We think other regions are not reading our body language?

I really don't care what Saraki writes or says because they've all come to realize that it's very easy to play us like a flute. So like Saraki, like Fani Kayode, like Fayose, like Atiku, even Jonah Jang of all people, they keep playing us.

I've learnt not to bother myself anymore to avoid unnecessary abuse from nonentities .

As some of us have said, it's good governance we want, even if only one village will be producing the Presidents. So be it.

Ka Chineke mezie okwu.
There is nothing wrong in igbos supporting pdp,the biggest political mistake the igbos made was not supporting the north through pdp to produce another person to complete yar'adua's Secord term, that cause the northerners to work against pdp n by extension igbo political interest, even if the whole if igbos join Apc today what is the guarantee that the Apc will not disintegrate before 2023 n the party will field an igbo presidential candidate then ?.
