PDP have shown over the years that they would rather give a minority chance than give Igbos. With Tinubu, Igbos have better chance at governance in APC than in PDP. Me I'm not igbo,I'm a minority from the city north central, but tell me are you igbo?, because except your are related to Joe igbokwe of Lagos,I don't think any igbo would agree with you. |

Still, you feel decamping to APC is a trap. You can't still see that PDP is the real trap. Maybe when you wait 50 years, it would dawn on you. Igbos stand a better chance in pdp than anywhere else, the SW led by tinubu are not likely to concede the ticket to the igbos,so the igbos need to hold on to the pdp, organized themselves n then build bridges across to the other parts of the country,a SE/NC ticket for pdp will not be a bad idea. |

[quote author= post=83580362]We had not seen each other for about 30 years. The Lord has been kind to me. When I saw him again - this time at a hotel lobby - he was looking simple. He wore simple Ankara attire. I felt touched. He walked up to me and was glad to see me again. But deep within me I was not impressed with his status compared to mine and poor me, I couldn't hide it. We exchanged contact details and I could see the joy in him as he collected mine.
I told him I will drop him home in my brand new Range Rover and I pointed it to him. He declined and said he had already called for his car. It looked old, a 2001 Honda Accord.
I invited him the next day for lunch at my house. A part of me wanted to impress him - To show off my success and affluence to him, while another was to discuss opportunities and possibly help him.
He drove to Parkview where I lived. He looked impressed with my home. I had taken a heavy mortgage. In fact I was heavily in debt. We had lunch. He told me he was into small business and particularly real estate. I brought up more business discussions, but he didn't sound too interested. I asked him how I could help him. He said he was fine. I even told him if he was interested, I could help him secure some loans... He looked at me and smiled.
He told me he would invite me over soon to his place. His old car came for him. I was grateful to God for what I had. “Fingers are not all equal”, I thought to myself...I was lucky. I worked in a good place.
Two weeks later, we went to see him in Ikeja. My wife and I. She was reluctant to go because she was not impressed with the man's status as to warrant our visiting him in his house. I was able to convince her that we were close friends in college. We saw the Estate. *Wuraola Estate.* We asked for directions to his home. Those leading us spoke his name with deference.
It was a simple but lovely home. A 4 bedroom bungalow. I saw 4 cars parked in front. We entered his home. It was simply elegant with a touch of class inside. He welcomed us warmly.
Lunch was well served. His wife called him Baba Wuraola
During lunch, he asked about my MD. He said they were friends. I saw a company gift on one of his tables nearby. That company owned about 38% shares where I worked. I enquired from him about it. He smiled. He told me he owned the company. He also owned the estate.
I did not know when I called him sir... I was in awe of him too.
I had learnt a lesson in humility - A big one. Appearances are deceptive. He noticed my discomfort.

Politics › Re: Emefiele: Borders To Remain Closed Until Neighbouring Countries Meet Conditions by Deepthoughts: 10:27am On Oct 29, 2019 |
Hardnews: Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), says the nation’s land borders will remain closed until neighbouring countries meet the requirements for it to be reopened.
Emefiele said this on Monday while speaking to journalists after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja. The federal government had closed the country’s land borders to importing and exporting of all items in a bid to curb illegal trading activities by Nigeria’s neighbours.
Hameed Ali, comptroller-general of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), had said that Nigeria’s borders will remain closed until the country and its neighbours agree on existing ECOWAS protocol on movement.
Despite several calls by stakeholders for the re-opening of the borders, Emefiele said the affected countries must first have “concrete engagements” on mutual anti-smuggling policies.
He explained that the smuggling of goods through these countries undermines Nigeria’s economic policy.
“We are not saying that the borders should be closed in perpetuity, but that before the borders are reopened, there must be concrete engagements with countries that are involved in using their ports and countries as landing ports for bringing in goods meant for local consumption, it is understandable,” Emefiele said.
“But the fact that those products are landed in their countries and then transshipped or smuggled into Nigeria is something that I am sure you all agree as Nigerians we should not allow happening because it undermines our economic policy, it undermines our own desire to make sure that industries are alive and jobs are created in Nigeria.”
Emefiele further said that the country’s rice and poultry farmers have, since the closure, recorded improved sales.
“Recently, and this is the absolute truth, about two weeks before the border closure, the chairman of the Rice Processors Association, incidentally, he owns Umza Rice in Kano, called me and said that all the rice millers and processors are having in their warehouses nothing less than 25,000 metric tons of milled rice. That this rice has been unsold because of the smuggling and dumping through Republic of Benin and other border posts that we have in the country and that he would want us to do something about it,” he said.
“Secondly, we also have members of the Poultry Association of Nigeria who also complained that they have thousands of crates of eggs that they could not sell together with even some of the processed chickens also arising from the problem of smuggling and dumping of poultry products into Nigeria.
“A week after the borders were closed, the same rice millers association called to tell us that all the rice that they had in their warehouses have all been sold. Indeed, a lot of people have been depositing money in their accounts and they have even been telling them ‘please hold on don’t even pay money yet until we finished processing your rice’.
“The Poultry Associations have also come to say that they have sold all their eggs, they have sold all their processed chickens and that demand is rising.” According to him, the improved sale of rice and poultry products is the benefit of closing the borders.
“So when you asked, what is the benefit of the border closure on the economy of Nigeria, I just used two products – poultry and rice. The benefit is that it has helped to create jobs for our people, it has helped to bring the integrated rice milling that we have in the country back into business again and they are making money. Our rural communities are bubbling because there are activities because rice farmers are able to sell their paddy. The poultry business is also doing well, and also maize farmers who produce maize from which feeds are produced are also doing business. These are the benefits,” he said. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) had backed Nigeria’s closure of its borders.
https://www.thecable.ng/emefiele-borders-remain-closed-neighbouring-countries-meet-conditions/amp I don't support buhari or Apc but I support this idea of border closure, genuine importers can use our ports, when the borders are eventually open, only goods locally produce in African countries should be allowed in through the land borders, customs should even be allowed to raid markets n shops for smuggled goods, let those who are ready to labour enjoy their sweat. |

Writercruze: It’s painful when someone you genuinely love cheats on you. In fact, it breaks the heart really bad. Sometimes, you may ask yourself if you aren’t good enough for him. Well, darling, you are unique and beautiful. Just that a cheat is always a cheat no matter how he tries to hide it.
Your man has no reason to cheat on you. As a matter of fact, no excuse is every enough to justify cheating on someone you love. If someone has cheated on you before, you will understand what I mean.
In this article, I’ll share with you some of the heartbreaking lies Nigerian men give when you catch them cheating.
Lies Nigerian Men give When You Catch Them Cheating
Without much ado, here are some of the excuses Nigerian men give when you catch them cheating…
#1. She Seduced Me
We have heard this several times. Most men caught cheating always claimed that the other person seduced them. Well, even if the story is true, he could have resisted the temptation and say No. You can always fight temptation if you genuinely love your partner.
#2. She Didn’t Mean Anything To Me
When you catch a Nigerian man cheating, he will always tell you that the girl means nothing to him. Trust me, the last thing your partner wants to hear is you telling her that the person doesn’t mean anything to you.
#3. It Was The Devil’s Handiwork
You hear that right. Nigerian men also blame the devil for cheating on their wives. Isn’t that funny? Well, it’s one of the most common excuses men give when you catch them cheating.
#4. I Didn’t Want To Do It but…
He will always tell you that I never wanted to do it. But I don’t know what came over me. Well, if he respects your feelings and the relationship, trust me, he could have overcome any temptation because he won’t want to hurt you for any reason.
#5. It Was Never My Intention To Hurt You
Once you catch him redhanded, he will tell you it’s never his intention to hurt you. Really? He has been sleeping with different girls in the neighbourhood, yet he claimed he never intended to hurt you.
Do you really fall for that lie? Let me tell you the truth… If he doesn’t want to hurt you, he won’t have cheated on you in the first place.
#6. It Only Happened Once
Don’t expect your guy to agree that he has been cheating on you. He will only admit if you catch on the act. And he will tell you that since he has been with you, this is the only time he has been tempted to cheat on you. Well, you don’t expect your boyfriend to admit that he’s a serial cheat, do you?
#7. You Are The One I Truly Love
Another common lie your man will tell when you catch him cheating is, “You are the one I truly love, I’m just passing the time with her.”
But he fails to understand how heartbreaking that statement makes you feel. Ask yourself; if you were to turn the table around, he catches you cheating on him, will he take it likely. Of course, the answer is NO.
Any man that cheats on you doesn’t deserve your love. Even if he begs and promises to turn a new leaf, he will always cheat on you again. Do you know why? A snake is still a snake; it doesn’t matter if the skin changes.

Lol we finally see an honest person among them. They only oppose ranching because they dont want to change business model. I agree farmers should put up cheap barbwire fences to keep these guys out. No farmers shouldn't fence their farms because their crops are not a threat to anyone,if ranching is expensive the herdsmen should suggest n accept that the state government can establish the ranches while they herdsmen get registered, issued IDs n use the ranches for annual fees which can be increased from time to time. |

Ctorch: Fulani herdsmen threaten legal action against Oyo Assembly over anti-open grazing bill
The public outcry that characterised the anti-open grazing bill at the Oyo State House of Assembly took another dimension Wednesday when Fulani herdsmen in the state vowed to drag the state lawmakers to court over the proposed law.
At a meeting in Igangan, an agrarian community in Ibarapa North Local Government Area, that lasted several hours and with hundreds of the herdsmen from across the state in attendance, they resolved to use legal options to fight the bill.
The bill entitled, ‘Open Rearing and Grazing Regulation Bill 2019’, which has passed through second reading at the House of Assembly was jointly sponsored by the Speaker of the Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, the deputy Speaker, Abiodun Fadeyi, Majority Leader, Sanjo Adedoyin, and the minority Leader, Asimiyu Alarape.
The bill, when it becomes law, would prohibit open grazing in the state.
The House had two weeks ago, organized a public hearing for stakeholders to bare their minds and make suggestions to the proposed bill.
During the public hearing, farmers and some Fulani’s in the state disagreed over the proposed anti-grazing bill.
While the farmers’ ambassador, Azeez Maboreje, in his address, lauded the lawmakers for taking the bull by the horn for considering the bill; the national chairman of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria, Sale Bayari, in an 18-page position paper, said the bill if passed into law would punish poor herders, saying, “it is impossible in our country for any peasant small scale herdsman to go into ranching.”
However, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Abiodun Fadeyi, while speaking at a town hall meeting on Monday in Ibadan, had insisted that the proposed law is not in any way to punish or witchhunt Fulani herdsmen in the state.
Mr Fadeyi who spoke at the town hall meeting organized in conjunction with the National Orientation Agency (NOA), for the people of Ona-Ara State constituency where he represents, noted that the open rearing and grazing regulation bill 2019 is not in any way targeted at any group or set of people.
“We have passed many bills since we came in the last four months. Numerous bills. When this administration came into government, we enacted some of the bills to establish some of the ministries,” he said.
And the one that is germane is the anti-grazing, open rearing bill and the anti-corruption bills. The anti-open grazing bill is not only a discourse in the state alone, it is throughout the country. It is the bill that will help us in terms of generating revenue for the state.
“We are talking about the anti-open grazing bill now that will help us in terms of the internally generated revenue (IGR), that will encourage private ownership of ranches and what a few and to control or to curtail the movement of the herders from one place to the other indiscriminately. So these are some of the things the bill will be able to do and not to witchhunt the herders or anyone.”
But, the Fulani herdsmen at their meeting presided over by the Sarkin Fulani of Oyo State, Saliu Abdul-Kadir, described the bill as “too draconian” and targeted at crippling Fulani herdsmen from practising their age-long cattle rearing activities across the state.
“We will go to court. We will seek legal redress if Oyo State Government insists on imposing this bill on us,” Mr Abdul-Kadir said.
Reeling out the communique of the meeting to journalists, the Oyo State Secretary of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association, Garba Umar, said the Fulani herdsmen had resorted to rejecting the bill in its totality because they perceived it as one that would cause a serious setback to their means of livelihood.
“The implementation of the bill as it is will cause commotion,” he said.
“It is simply this issue that threw up IDP Camps in Benue. And we don’t want all this to happen here in Oyo State where we have been living peacefully with our fellow farmers for ages.
“However, if we are pushed to the wall, we know the next level. Our next level is to seek the legal option. We will go to the court of law over the matter.
“But for now, we are begging Oyo State Government to see us as Nigerians and partners in progress who, for ages immemorial, have added values to the economy of the State.
“It is also a matter of fact that we Fulani dominate large percentage of voters in Oyo State. Government only recognize us during electioneering and voting periods. Government is not giving us any facility or loan to boost our cattle rearing business while the farmers, on the other hand, get agric loans, fertilizers, etc. Is this the only way Government is now repaying us for our patriotism?
“We are equally opposed to ranching which is capital intensive. Why not ask the farmers also to fence their farm holdings? How much are we going to be spending per caged cow per annum in form of feeding, etc.? We do not agree.
“Government should rather checkmate the inflow of foreign Fulanis who have been responsible for the security challenges in the land.”
Matthew Opeoluwa, Special Assistant, New Media to the Speaker in a message to Premium Times reacting to the court threat, said the House would soon release its position on the herdsmen’s decision.

Politics › Re: Ghana Trade Union Vote To Ban Made-in-nigeria Products Following Border Closure by Deepthoughts: 1:28pm On Oct 20, 2019 |
zuchyblink: As Nigeria’s land border closure bites West African countries, the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has called for a total boycott of all Nigerian products imported by Ghana. The move, the traders union believes, will force the Nigerian government to open up its land borders for foreign goods. Nigeria partially shut its borders since August. According to Ghanaweb.com, Greater Accra Regional Secretary of GUTA, David Kwadwo Amoateng on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Friday said the Nigerian government has not been fair to foreign traders. In return, he expects the Ghana government to prevent Nigerian traders from bringing goods into Ghana, but that plea has fallen on deaf ears. “Either somebody’s bread has been buttered or we are cowards. Government is not being fair to us,” he fumed. Mr Amoateng cited how Dangote cement had taken over the market while local ones from GHACEM are suffering. “Let’s boycott Nigerian products as payback to their government’s action. How can we be slaves in our own country?” he said. Mr Amoateng argued that the issue, if not checked, could hamper the Continental Free Trade Area. Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has appealed to Ghanaian traders to remain calm as it works with the Nigerian authorities to ease its ban on the exportation of Non-traditional products.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2019/10/19/border-closure-ghana-traders-union-calls-for-boycott-of-nigerian-products/amp/ Nigeria as a country also needs these west African countries market for our industries to keep running n continued employment guaranteed, it's time the government look into their complains n find a middle ground to solve the problem before the gang up against us, let's not decieve ourselves that we don't need them, it's going to be catastrophic if they should gang up against us. |
