1) Hot?? Of course, you are as hot as Azeezat.Another ewedu lover on the prowl. |
Why are we so lame in generating revenue in Nigeria? Is it because we rely so much on oil money. For eg: I read a thread in Nairaland that for you to drive a vehicle with tinted windows, all you gotta do is pay 25k permit for the life span of that vehicle. which country on earth does that? why should the transport ministry rely on the govt to support them when they can raise enough money from issuing a drivers license that has an EXPIRING date, a tinted window permit that has an EXPIRING date. Many Nigerians are buying SUV's now instead of sedans and those vehicles are not energy friendly but the govt is not doing anything to curtail this trend by increasing the taxes for SUV owners. How can you subsidize imported petrol with our oil money and allow only those that can afford SUV's to enjoy a lion share of it without making them pay a little more for your subsidy or do they think the little extra taxes they collect from the port of entry is good enough? What about states and local governments? MOT inspection is a dead activity in Nigeria and the jobs it created went away with it. Local taxes for vehicle registration should be annually for private vehicle owners. Do you know how much the Lagos state govt will generate from making that law annually and how much the amount raised can sustain that ministry? Must the police improve and rely solely on the govt for their salaries and maintenance when they can generate about 30% of their maintenance fee legally from motorists by enforcing these laws? when will we learn to be independent in Nigeria without waiting for govt to do it all? Comments ![]() |
But why? I don't understand Nigeria oBecause the citizens are not paying enough taxes according to how much they earn. So, the rich can afford to be irresponsible with his wealth. |
Me? Calm Hotfunmi? That is what is called 'Suicide Mission'I can calm your nerves baby, just allow me to drag you to the altar and I'll let you see the other side of pleasure. |

I'D say, get perfect first before you start looking for a woman to share the fruits of your perfection. You'll get there. Good cook?Marriage aint no joke, how come nobody has talked about being a good cook or being good with kids, or knowing how to get the work/family balance right, or knowing how to keep a home going etc? when am making money, can't you manage a TV dinner? I've not heard this before. it's very possible but I've always thought MM is an Hausa man.Yes he is from the south south and he grew up in kano his grand father house still stands in auchi in Edo state Nigeria. but he has to choose kano because of the tribalism going on in the army as at then if you are not from the north you don't get enlisted or promoted as at when due. This tribalism still goes on today, for this reason we have so many northerner who can not even speak English in the army and also in police force.this reason he adopted the kano as his state of origin. |
Her Reason: Baker insisted that she would only perform in a hall that had a theatre setting. Since the Expo Hall, Lagos had a banquet setting the singer allegedly refused to perform. But why did she refuse to perform? My reason: She thinks we are bunch of monkeys that could be treated anyhow but our money is tasty, she can grab it and bail without any questions asked. You remember 3 years ago when the Donald Duke used state's money to invite R Kelly and his publicists told the Cross river govt that they should be paid $50K and expenses AND if he happens to go to jail because of his pending case that time, the money will not be refunded and those morons almost agreed to such a deal. Why are we so gullible for these people? |
Will they refund them their money? Who pays that much to watch them in America? Why do we appropriate our money into something that is not resourceful? I heard Nigerians paid N100K to watch Beyonce perform, what nonsense? Will her American people pay $1000 per ticket to watch her perform? Didn't Anita Baker know about the whole before she collected her pay? Nigerians are treated the way they want to be treated because if it were in America, the organizers will vomit all the money they collected for the tickets. If you ask them to pay that much to watch superb musicians like Femi Kuti or lagbaja, they'll start squealing like pigs but they'll pay that to watch an outdated musician like Anita Baker. |
Saturday, September 6, 2008 Printer Friendly Version Why Anita Baker refused to rock Lagos By Nonye Iwuagwu She may be 50 but the international act, Anita Baker, is a crowd-puller. Baker has a great fan base in Nigeria and many had looked forward to watching her perform live after it was announced last week that the US singer was going to perform in Nigeria. https://nigeriaworld.com/images/news/big/international/entertainment/anita-baker.jpg Anita Baker The event, which was organised by events firm, Kilimanjaro, had a N50,000 ticket. But not even that was enough to deter Baker’s Nigerian fans. Lots of people still stormed the Expo Hall, Lagos venue of the concert to catch some fun with Baker’s melodies. But they were in for a shock: the singer simply refused to perform! Many thought it was a huge joke. How could people have paid such an exorbitant fee to watch Anita Baker and yet the lady refused to perform? EVen when Basket Mouth, the comedian, took to the stage and cracked some ribs with his jokes, many guest still sat, waiting for Anita baker. Nikky, the new kid of soul music, also came on stage and sang her heart out; still they waited for Anita baker. And they waited and waited until it finally dawned on the guests that the American singer was not ready to play. Efforts to find out from the organisers, the reasons for Baker’s act proved abortive. But some sources alleged that Baker insisted that she would only perform in a hall that had a theatre setting. Since the Expo Hall, Lagos had a banquet setting the singer allegedly refused to perform. |
Yar’Adua’s return upsets Northern agenda By Jackson Udom and Idowu Samuel Saturday, September 6, 2008 PRESIDENT Umar Yar’Adua in the early hours of Saturday sneaked into the country after about three weeks absence from office. His arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 3 a.m. was contrary to media speculations that his health condition had worsened and might not return in the next eight weeks. His unannounced arrival has put an end to the speculations in some quarters that the President was in capacitated to continue in office because of his dwindling health status. Sunday Tribune also gathered that the decision of Yar'Adua to return to the country in the early hours of Saturday was as a result of advice from his medical team that he needed to prepare the minds of Nigerians for the long period the kidney transplant surgery will take him out of the country. Sources said that the President was reminded of the fact that when a similar kidney transplant operation was done on him as the then Governor of Katsina State, he spent many months in the hospital before he was certified fit to leave for Nigeria. It was at this point that, a decision was said to have been taken by doctors, the immediate family and associates of the president that he returned home so that he will properly brief the nation on his health status before returning for the kidney transplant which had been donated by his brother, who is a Major in the army. Yar’Adua was said to have left Saudi Arabia enroute Libya at about 12 midnight to Nigeria in company of his family and close aides, who had travelled with him on lesser hajj (Umraah)to Saudi Arabia. The long stay of the president in the holy land, led to speculations that he sneaked out of the country for medical check-up but used the Umraah as a cover-up. Despite claims by the Presidency that the President was in good state of health and would return to the country soonest, moves had already commenced within the North for his possible successor, should he decide to resign as a result of his failing health. Former military president, Ibrahim Babangida is said to have commenced the oiling of his political machinery in preparation for the electoral contest in 2011. Unconfirmed report has it that before he sneaked out of the country for medical check up in Saudi Arabia, Yar’Adua was guest to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his Ota residence. He was said to have told Obasanjo that should he survive his four year tenure, he will not be interested in recontesting the office in 2011. Though Obasanjo’s response to his submission was not known, the former president was said to have briefed the South West zonal stakeholders meeting, recently in Ibadan, on what should be expected of them in 2011 elections, in a veiled reference to Yar’Adua’s position on 2011 elections. He was said to have told PDP faithful at the meeting that they should brace up for the challenges of the 2011 elections which would be a different ball game from the 2007 elections. President Yar’Adua, according to report, is expected to brief the nation on his health status in few days time in order to put an end to the misinformation on his health condition in recent times. The North, as a result of the dwingling health condition of the president, is in disarray and are currently restrategising on how to retain the presidency in the North. Former military president, Ibrahim Babangida is the arrow head of the move. Infact, he is said to be deeply involved in the move. The plan is to ensure that the Vice President Jonathan Goodluck is not allowed to assume the office of the President as stipulated in the Constitution, should President Yar’Adua voluntarily resign or dies in office. Meanwhile, the eventual return of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to Nigeria from Saudi Arabia in the early hours of Saturday may have started dousing the tension in Nigeria about his state of health. Yar’Adua took the nation by surprise when he breezed into Nigeria at about 3.00a.m in company of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, the governor of his state, Ibrahim Shema and his counterpart in Kwara State, Dr. Bukola Saraki. Checks by Sunday Tribune revealed that only a few of his aides and close family members had access to him as the officials in his residence were said to have restricted movements around him. Some of his staunch supporters who made attempts to reach the president, his wife and other members of his family through the telephone were told to exercise patience till later in the day ostensibly to allow the President have some rest. Reports compiled around the Presidential Villa indicate that the president betrayed the wide rumour about his failing health by his agile look even as no one could tell whether or not he actually did Kidney transplant as reported. However, there were indications that the sudden return of Yar’Adua to Nigeria would affect the permutations of power mongers within the North constituted by some intelligentsia and retired Generals whom Sunday Tribune learnt had been expressing worries about the effect of his ill-health on governance. Prior to his return, there had been reports that some key political elite in the North had been restive about the touted deterioration of his health amid suspicion that his feeble condition could weaken the grip of the North on power. Since speculations about the poor health of Yar’Adua reached a crescendo, the northern elite, as Sunday Tribune learnt, had intensified communication between one another and were actually planning to hold a secret forum on the health of the president. A source close to a top retired General confided in Sunday Tribune at the weekend that had the forum held they would have concluded that Yar’Adua, on health grounds, would not be able to strongly pilot the affairs of Nigeria and hence would have began to sensitise key emirs in the North on his possible voluntary resignation. Before now, there had been speculations that some elite in the North had been working on the Judiciary with the aim of making it grapple with the reality of Yar’Adua’s incapacitation as President, hence the need for it to consider the nullification of his election at the Supreme Court. http://odili.net/news/source/2008/sep/6/612.html[flash=200,200][/flash] |
