on my own part i want to live and work in canada. i started the visa processing on line.but i got to the part where i was asked to pay about 300$ through telegraphic transfer.i did not go further because i was a bit skeptical.
can the house please.tell me if its a genuine move
thanks
stello
Which site is that? I'm guessing it's a fraudulent or 3rd party site. I wont advise you to go that route.

@home1986, I believe the forms only ask you to state your intention. SO make sure u mention that u intend to go study and come back because of <state your reason>; no extra story. You may be asked to elaborate during your interview. Goodluck.

Delta, thanks for the reply but do i need a tie in my home land like investment and all that as a student and even if i need a tie must it have to be in my own name or the name of my sponsor
You must prove ties to your country. . .in other words, you must be able to convince the consul that you will be returning back to the country once your program is completed; obviously, cos u have stronger ties. Scenerios like you have a job waiting for you at home pending the completion of your degree (show proof of employment) or family business or perhaps you are a family man and ur family is gonna be at home while u go study, etc

Most countries in the world do not welcome Nigerians because of our negative images world-wide. If your friend has a clean background, he does not have to worry about any thing. Only the guilty are afraid. Homeland security agents do not have to be your friends.

They are there to do their jobs professionally, not to make friends. That is what Nigerians do best. Making friends and smiling like Christmas goats when they should be working.

Sonye:
PLease enlighten me on the admission and visa process from the beginning.
Sonye:
You need to work on getting an admission first. This is a list of Canadian Universities. . .you can browse their websites and choose the ones that appeal to you. http://www.aucc.ca/can_uni/our_universities/index_e.html

Based on the programmes, they seem to have similar admission requirements. Feel free to holla at me if you want me to give you recommendations. Also, deadlines are fast approaching for different programs, especially for the Fall 2008 session.

If/when you get your admission, acquiring your visa is the next step.

Delta007 , thanks for my reply, Can you please tell me the most vital documents that need to be perfect, before i can apply
Go pick up the form at the embassy or download the form online and it should list all the required documents; but the leat you'd need are the application form and fee (make sure u fill it out properly and no contradictions), you admission letter, passport photographs and proof of funds. You'd be required to prove that you have very strong ties to Nigeria and once you've completed your studies, you have no intention to stay in Canada. Goodluck!

hey do anyone knows if i need to purchase health insurance here in Nigeria before i can apply for my visa to canada, anyone who has been successfull going to canada with a student Visa should please lecture me,
abewonder2002@yahoo.com
You do not proof of health insurance (unless it's a relatively new thing, which I doubt). However, you'd be required to undergo medicals before you are approved.

av gotten the letter from a skul in canada but someone said i need an health unsurance for the lenght of my studies , please let me know if its necessary because i havent applied before and don't really know much, just let me know the required documents i will be needing.

Will apreciate if u could help me with more tips goshen360
You do not need a proof of health insurance for a Canadian Visa/Study permit. However, since you have resided in Naija, you will be asked to undergo medicals (I think they still use one hospital in Yaba) before your application is approved. You'd need to apply at least 4mths in advance because the process could take between 2-4mths altho I know of peeps that have gotten theirs in 3wks. When you arrive Canada, your institution will give you an option of buying health insurance (if you do not have one already)

Please can anyone hint me on the waiting time for the whole Canadian immigration process? I applied last december(from Nigeria). Someone told me it may have to be the december after next before the completion of the process. How is their interview? i hope i won't be in for a surprise when they finally call me.
Realmajid:
Where did you apply thru? Cos the waiting time depends on the embassy handling your application. Since you based in Abj, I'm guessing Ghana. I've heard applications thru Ghana cud take up to 3-4yrs. Just a rough idea. Check http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/01-all.asp#africa

CareerRe: Sincere: Advice On My Career by Delta007(m): 2:07pm On Feb 29, 2008
Obviously, you now lack the passion for your job. Passion is what kept you going even when the workload was large and the pay was peanuts. Now the passion is gone, something needs to rekindle it. Sometimes, a payraise might help (but not all the time). A job change is very advisable at this point. . .now that you still have a job, look out thru the window and see what you can get.

Technology MarketMarch Laptop Sales Special. (get A Free Brand New Laptop)! ! ! by Delta007(op): 4:42pm On Feb 28, 2008
We have decided to put on a sales special every month.

For the new month of March 2008, if you buy 10 Brand New laptops, you get 1 Brand new laptop (similar specs/price or less) free of charge. No gimmicks. And we might even throw in a couple brand new HP printers if you are a good customer, free of charge.

So, to those of you wholesalers in Nigeria or those who have contacts with various companies, banks, schools, etc, this is a good way to cash in. Our prices are negotiable and I try my best to give you the best deals from the manufacturers.

We strive to beat any retail price in Nigeria and we ship directly from manufacturers.

Also, if you are interested in purchasing lesser quantities for personal use, feel free to contact me with your specs as well.

Contact me at jonitive@hotmail.com (please no spams. Thanks, but I'm not interested in those Miriam Abacha letters) .

P.S. At the moment, we CANNOT finance anyone. We are currently in talks with a bank in Nigeria and if the deal comes through, all the better for those interested in financing. I may only consider at most 2 installmental payments but no guarantees. Thanks.

Hi Frank:
I supply laptops directly from manufacturers and I strive to beat retail market prices in Nigeria. I'd like to know what intend to use it for (gaming, basic use - papers, internet surfing, etc), how you like it (slick, light/portability, etc) and what features you wont mind having then I can recommend. Also, what is you price range?

I tend to recommend new laptops if you are willing to spend up to the N100k range because depends on the specs and te brand, you could get new and decent ones. The new ones also come with a 1yr manufacturer's warranty.

Feel free to contact me at jonitive@hotmail.com and I'd work with you.
