PoliticsRe: South South: A Time Bomb Waiting To Explode by demmy(m): 5:55pm On Feb 21, 2006
I don't believe anything big will come out of this outside of more suffering for the already poor people of that region.
PoliticsRe: President Of The Christian Association Of Nigeria Reacts by demmy(m): 5:52pm On Feb 21, 2006
Obasanjo is still mute as he always does when it comes to north. If this were to happened in some southern state he would have called in the army.
SportsRe: Super Eagles Nations Cup Scandal by demmy(m): 5:49pm On Feb 21, 2006
If they had won the cup, this report would not have been published!
But of course they didn't win so there is a need to understand why in my opinion.
Christianity EtcRe: Lifelong Atheist Changes Mind About Divine Creator by demmy(m): 5:27pm On Feb 21, 2006
There is a God, who carefully thought out and planned this universe. He is not God because he created the universe, He was God before he created the universe./

Everything is so carefully ordered night and day, seasons, birth, water to drink, food to eat, air to breathe. Anyone who sees these things and denies them is deceiving himself and living in his own reality.

Hes not looking for people who will believe when they see him, he's looking for those who believe when they don't. Once a heart and not a mind believes then he will prove to that heart that he exists. But the heart has to believe first.

He doesn't need to prove anything to the world, he doesn't need to show you a sign, he's God and we are not. Man can beat his chest all he wants in the shallowness of logic, philosophy and human theory. One thing is sure
Death
and in that we will know that he who created life is real, but then it would be to late.
All these are just your opinion I guess. Or did god revealed them to you? He gave you a private tour of his ways and means?
PoliticsRe: 16 Killed In Nigerian Cartoons Riots by demmy(m): 12:20pm On Feb 20, 2006
Illiteracy is a major problem battling the Northern Nigeria and sadly until they are properly rescue from its yoke they'll continue to pose serious danger to the Nigerian entity. The North lack autonomous social conscience that have come to characterize the southern part of the country and so the only outlet for protest is through religion. You won't see northerners protest anything else other than religious related. This is not good. As for the riot itself the Nigerian government ought to have anticipated it and averted it easily in my opinion but I guess Obasanjo is more interested in 'securing the oil business' with bombs in Niger-Delta and isn't paying attention or he is simply incompetent.
Christianity EtcRe: Any Non-Religious People In Nigeria? by demmy(m): 11:49am On Feb 20, 2006
Its a shame that Tai's ideas haven't had much influence in Nigeria. angry
Christianity EtcRe: Any Non-Religious People In Nigeria? by demmy(m): 10:39am On Feb 20, 2006
There are but very few. We should remember that people don't take lightly to non-religious individuals. You're branded "keferi" and an outkast even important people like Solarin are not spared with Fani-Kayode's impertinently calling him Godless and unworthy of Obasanjo's attention. But I do know of the NIGERIAN HUMANIST STUDENTS SOCIETY inspired I think by Tai solarin and the Nigerian Skeptics Society.
PoliticsRe: How Will History Remember Obasanjo? by demmy(m): 9:29pm On Feb 13, 2006
Just one of the same and he is sure to be forgotten like those others too because he has failed in one dimension that matters: Laying strong foundation for democracy. Without strong institutions we are not going anywhere.
Car TalkRe: South Africa To Acquire Rights To Produce Nigerian Cars. by demmy(m): 9:17pm On Feb 13, 2006
He claimed that "ethnic politics killed this product in Nigeria". "After the car's launch the Federal Government formed a high-powered team of scientists to probe my work. This team was led by the then Science and Technology Minister, Sam Momoh.
First I cannot recollect whether Obasanjo ever appointed anybody with name Sam Momoh huh as Science and Technology minister. But I stand corrected.

Second why is South Africa bankrolling this particular project? Does its design make it cost effective? As we all know SA by comparison is more technologically advanced than Nigeria so I don't think its should be difficult for them to design a car. So whats so special about that car?

I stand by my statement which says " it may not be inciting to the southerners but may be to the core North" Southerners cannot be compelled to think irrational, they use their head well well, no leaders impose anything on them. The bunch of OBJ's critics are southerners. Isn't it?
Kola it was your allusion of well behaved southerners I was trying to dispelled from your post quoted above. Its true Southerners don't kill themselves over religion but that don't make them any more rational than their northern counterpart. Nearly 7 yrs into democracy and the supposed intellectually superior south is yet to show anything for it outside of crisis. Just last year an 11yr old boy was lynch mobbed in Lagos for kidnapping in the full glare of camera by some of those people who "use their head well well" and "cannot be compelled to think irrational".
Music/RadioRe: What Are You Listening To Right Now? by demmy(m): 8:53pm On Feb 07, 2006

Christianity EtcRe: Mocking God? by demmy(m): 8:36pm On Feb 07, 2006
donnie:
layi,

I really admire you for the strong arguments you have put up.

I heard a story about a talkshow where a christian and a non-christian were arguing about the reality of Jesus and the gospel on televison. The non-christian said all sorts of blasphemies.

At a point the christain got fed up and he said, "In the name of jesus, i command you to come out of him"

Immediately, the man who was busy speaking blasphemies began to manifest, shaking all about the place right before the cameras.

That is what we will be seeing in these last days...not much of talking without action.
Very very funny mythic world view. grin grin grin
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) by demmy(m): 4:48pm On Feb 07, 2006
I don't blame Eguavon he tried his best. The Eagles need a super coach. I've said it before and will say it again the Eagles need a good foreign coach. We have talents but not enough if we can't properly use them.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) by demmy(m): 4:36pm On Feb 07, 2006
Yep they had more urgency than us. Great win for them. Abidjan is on fire as of the moment. We really didn't realized we should score until it was too late.

I guess we're doomed to eternal 3rd place embarassed
Nairaland GeneralRe: My Case Against Evolution by demmy(m): 10:30am On Feb 07, 2006
"If God does not exist, it is not detrimental to your progress to believe in him but if he does exist, it would be dangerous not to."
So Kodewrita your belief in god is for speculatory gain heh? For your reward just in case he exist? That really is an insight, knowing that Nigerians preach one thing and do another. They don't really believe they merely adhere just to be on the safe side. SMH.

Btw nice post nferyn. Few Nigerians are really aware of the origin of the religion they so adamantly hold on to. And I wish they would make CRITICAL THINKING a compulsory subject from primary school up.

You see naija is not the kind of country one can die for, if you do have just wasted a resource.
That is a very very unfortunate mentality. If all Nigerians think like that joftech we are doomed.

TV/MoviesRe: 'African Queen' Song In Hollywood Movie 'Phat Girlz' by demmy(m): 9:43pm On Feb 06, 2006
Sorry to dowse your enthusiasm people, that movie will hardly make $10 million return at the boxoffice, so how are they going to pay 1 mil for Idibia alone? Anyway check out other Nigerians on the cast

Congrat to him anyway. way to go.

layi:
So we'll become extinct like the dinosaurs and other beigns will take over?
Well we humans are pretty intelligent we'll be a tough cookie to be eradicated grin. But it can happen. Where I am getting at however is that the Universe is independent of our own fate. That we humans might perish because we can't adapt to new condition like sun running out of gas does not means the Universe per se will stop existing.
Nairaland GeneralRe: My Case Against Evolution by demmy(m): 8:54pm On Feb 06, 2006
You have to understand that even if the sun finally 'run out of gas' and gets turns off and no more life that the universe will still leaves on and new forms of life will evolve intelligent or not. We humans were not here 10 million years ago remember?
Nairaland GeneralRe: My Case Against Evolution by demmy(m): 8:36pm On Feb 06, 2006
layi its ironic that you're now calling on scientific theory to support the end of the universe while it is not sufficient to explain its origin or its evolution. don't you think?

Anyway to clarify I was expecting biblical explanation. Maybe a reference in the Revelation or something about the ends of days. I wasn't expecting those science links.
