It was Fashola that must have approved it.

Shebi when judge sentenced a man to floging somewhere in the South West, most of you supported it. You all still don't understand the system of imposing CRAZY laws.

Let's just declare Sharia nationwide and stop this whole snail movement.

I can't believe Lagos is trying to declare sharia law through the back window.

@TayoD

I see the problem you're having here is that you want to only count those people that the USA put its hands on their neck and strangled to death.

You forget that before the US Colonization of Iraq, the Al Qaeda was not on ground in Iraq. All the deaths caused by Al Qaeda in Iraq all adds up to the USA's tab.

The sectarian violence, and porous borders, how did this all come to be? All on the USA's tab.

The children that have died due to starvation, lack of medical and water resources, who bombed all the infrastructure. Count those dead babies in too.

The dead prisoners because of over crowding and/or torture, count them along.

Then don't forget the invasion war proper and "operation shock and awe" are we counting all those too? What about all the police recruits bombed in recruitment centres? Or are they not Arabs too?

Millions have been killed and I didn't see you come here to sympathise. Don't sit in your armchair and view life through a periscope.

And we've not even started counting Afghanistan's casualties yet and you know the recent bombing of civilians over there.

I'm asking you whether the US sympathises with Nigerians during times of disaster or they go further to condemn Nigerians. Now you are telling me about Indonesians. Are Indonesians Nigerians? Are Indonesians Iraqis? Are Indonesians Afghans? Are Indonesians Arabs?

Wetin concern canoe with side mirror?
As you claim that they do it for every country, I wonder why they haven't done that for Nigeria or any of their two new colonies.
These are the same people that have been experimenting on how to use natural disasters in warfare and have been using it.

If you say that there is no use entering the water to retrieve corpses, that means all the 30 people missing are confirmed dead! If not, why would they abandon them if they were just missing?

Why all the lies sef? From 7 dead to 9 dead, all of a sudden, it declines to only 4 dead now it's 5 again. A rescue worker who was on ground counted 9 dead bodies on the first night and all of a sudden people are accusing me of conspiracy theories? Did the rest resurrect? And who are these missing? Did they get Assumed into heaven? Death Toll Expected To Rise, yet it's been falling since. I'm sure by the time this is all over, there will be no dead! All would have resurrected. Rubbish.

@Seun

Mr ban and unban, shey you have used your veto power to tilt the argument in favour of your opinions. Now you have unbanned so that I will come back and be subservient to you?

I no blame you. You are no different from the people whom you believe are bad. This is what Bush does, this is what Hitler did.

So am I supposed to come back now and feel sorry?
I've been watching CNN and they keep playing some sorrowful hymnals songs so that they may draw pity. If it's people that died in Iraq, they will play action soundtrack. If it's Palestinians that died, you will hear bass drums rolling exciting adrenaline pumping instrumentals. Now because US citizens have perished they want to play the blues. And you want to force me into sympathy using your administrative powers. You try at all.

I know you can re-ban me, you can strike out my message, you can even freeze the thread. I know all the tricks, I moderate several fora and groups too. Or do you forget that as far back as 2002/2003 we moderated together on a group?

You first invited me to this group about 2 years ago, in fact, the very day you just finished creating it. But I really don't know why I refused to join. Well, my brother, now I know. This is not a forum, it's an avenue for you to play God.

You have banned me several times now in the past 2 weeks. Once for daring to correct a white man, once for supporting the death sentence which you are opposed to, once for speaking the truth, and now, just because you got itchy fingers.

Well, besides Nairaland, I you haven't forgotten that there is hi5, there's myspace, there's yahoo messenger, there's the Nigerian Student Group, there's yahoo360, and I still have my blog so it is not only nairaland that one can use to while away time.

I come in here to inform and to educate, but since you're not paying me a salary, don't hand me an unwritten brochure on how to do it.

So I'll answer TayoD's question which you tried to prevent me from answering in order to make me seem dumb. I will answer the question and then cease all further posting. I'll only be coming in here to see people wallow in your opinions and see how you're handling you new found position as God.

Hallowed be thy name, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Oluwa-Seun Osewa!

In 2005 are a total of about 1,700 bridges in the US which have become outdated and defective including this I-35W bridge. Yet nothing has been done about them.

Then you will see something minor will happen in Nigeria, they will shout. The money they should have used to build and repair those bridges has been dedicated to unleashing terror on innocent Arabs.

Let them taste some more of it. 4 more bridges, 2 katrinas and 1 more 911. Let the goodwill go round.

PoliticsRe: Would You Vote For Yar Adua If We Are To Vote Again by denex: 7:40pm On Aug 02, 2007
@angel101

There were irregularities. A lot of touts perpetuate these stealing ballot boxes, stuffing ballot boxes, na Yar'Adua send them?

Not up to 50 ballot boxes were stolen. Even if you steal 100 ballot boxes were stolen in a Presidential election, it would have no significant effect overall. The only situation where 50 stolen ballot boxes will have an effect is in a state governorship election. In local government election, as few as 5 ballot boxes stolen and stuffed will have a massive effect on the elections.

If Yar'Adua wanted to cheat, he would not steal ballot boxes he knows where to go and he didn't.

Yar'Adua admitted that there were irregularities during the elections, he did not say he cheated. Because he did not cheat.

God is redistributing the disasters worldwide as witnessed daily in Iraq. This was the testimony given by John Stewart last weekend.

I hope they find it as entertaining as the Iraqi war has been.

Which dirty sympathy? The sympathy we gave them for 911 that they have used to kill millions of arabs in Iraq and Afghanistan, is it not enough?

Abi did they sympathise with Nigerians all the while that buildings and bridges have been collapsing in Nigeria.

Abeg make them get out! You can imagine the rescue workers last night saying that they can't risk their lives anymore and they left. If it was Nigerian rescue workers talk that one now, everybody will condemn.

I think that problem is one of density in that area. Even distributing of the houses among transformers will most definitely solve that.

They just brought the light back at 10:15 am.

I think the new meter helps too because you pay for exactly what you use. No light, no revenue especially now that the government is pulling all funding for PHCN.

You are saying the truth O! You are saying the very truth. But while you are advising people to start thinking of the idea, I was already preparing to contest in the last elections before I realised that I didn't make the age requirement.

I had already fed myself fat and sewn a lot of "agbadas", you know, to get that Nigerian political look. Men after I read the constitution and realised I didn't make it, it took me 7 months of jogging and starvation to lose all that weight.

The electricity situation will get better gradually as the Niger-Delta crises ends and enough gas becomes available for the Gas Thermal Stations. Then also as more of the Independent Power Projects come online to and start supplying to the national grid.

yeah, I know. I have that attitude. But I also keep the other attitude handy in case the super hero wants to change to a villain over night. I will keep saying it that the government is doing very well, but I will also be prepared just in case things want to spin around on us. An old West African proverb used by an American president says:

"Speak Softly, But Carry A Big Stick".

Goodluck says he has declared his assets to the code of conduct Bureau but he is not mandated to make it public. Which is true. But the man is just Criminal.

I tell, you, lets start grooming Donald Duke to take his place because I don't see that man spending up to two years with Yar'Adua. Goodluck is a novice to this idea of transparency and tirelessly working for the greater good.

All of you saying all this ridiculous things, sometimes you scare me. How can somebody that is enlightened endure physical abuse for any reason whatsoever?

If police beat you now, you go enter AIT.

The only time I used to fight with one of my ex, it was for sparring, exercise and fitness. I can't imagine me and my chick have a serious disagreement and next thing we start hitting each other. Abi when your boyfriend has a misunderstanding with his co-workers, does he beat them up too?

Lastly, you have to take some self defence classes so that the next guy that tries that kind of rubbish on you will cry. It's all good for the health and survival.
PoliticsRe: Let Have A New Way Of Thinking by denex: 9:22am On Aug 02, 2007
As for having a way of thinking, I personally do not support that. I am a rational human being. I know that the country is improving very fast and I appreciate it. But the key to securing democracy is ETERNAL VIGILANCE. We must always keep watch and take drastic actions where necessary in order to continue in this path.

However, for the average masses who cannot decipher when things are good and when they are bad, the NLC "comrade" that perpetually complains, it is in those people we need to induce a new way of thinking.

Thank you, I'll expect your message, meanwhile let me start sharing with a couple of others.

Foreign Affairs9 Killed, 60 Injured Yesterday In US Bridge Collapse by denex(op): 8:57am On Aug 02, 2007
A bridge collapsed in Minnesota USA during rush hour on Wednesday, 1st of August 2007.

At least 9 people were confirmed killed, more than 60 injured and a dramatic pile of rubble is what remains between the Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA.
Rescue operations have been ended and attempts are being made to recover any missing dead bodies and about 50 vehicles which plunged into the river. Rescue operations have been toned down due to the darkness and poor lighting conditions so as not to risk the lives of rescuers.

The department for homeland security of the US government has declared no sign of terrorism, but rather some form of engineering failure. The bridge collapsed at about 7 pm local time.
PoliticsRe: Kalu's Arrest Simply Plitics by denex: 8:35am On Aug 02, 2007
If a governor steals N17 billion, launders it into a first bank account and falsified documents about it, that's 3 counts. If another governor, feeling smarter, gradually steals N1 million each day for eight years to amount to N3 billion, that's a 3,000 count charge.

So don't worry about the number of charges, they are just specifying the number of provable instances.

Meanwhile, these EFCC people are not good at all. They wrote and analytical article on their website titled: "Why ex-Gov Turaki Wept". In an attempt to give empirical, scientific, biological, economic and legal reasons for the relaxation of Saminu Turaki's tear ducts, resulting in the ocular secretion of tears.

PoliticsRe: Dangote, Others Pull Out Of Kaduna, P-harcourt Refineries' Deal. by denex: 8:00am On Aug 02, 2007
Did you say purchasing power is at an all time low?! This most be some kind of reverse economics.

From a per capita income between $300-$600 in the 1990s to $1500 this decade. All the jobs that have been created and are still being created in the private sector? Purchasing power is at an all time low? Haba my friend?

No entrepreneur goes into business solely for the love of the people. But there is no how, and no matter how shrewd a business man you are, you product or services will benefit the masses for them to go out and purchase it. As was said in Proverbs:
"It is bad, it bad says the buyer, but when we walks away, he shows his pride at the bargain he made."

If Bluestar should buy the refineries, it does not mean they will BAN importation of petroleum products. It just simply gives the people the option of whom to buy from. If Dangote does not do well, and does not provide services better than the importers, his business will fold up and he will lose about a billion dollars.
