Politics › Re: Chief Olusegun Obasdanjo And Alhaji Umaru Yar'adua: Problem Has Changed Name by denex: 7:44pm On Jun 30, 2007
Yar'Adua is not my tormentor. The first and only time I ever saw Yar'Adua was when I went to visit at his V.I, Elsie Femi Pearse Residence back in 1997. He didn't know me yet he was nice to me. When it was time to eat, I, my friend, Ismail Yar'Adua and his uncle Umaru Musa Yar'Adua ate together with the driver and a security man from a large tray of rice.

The man did not torment me then, and he will not torment me now. I've been to other of my friends' houses where the first question they ask you is who is your father? But at the Yar'Aduas' no. Everyone is welcome. So if he did not torment me but entertain me when I was an unwelcome guest in his house, then now that he has been chosen to go and serve me at the national level, I doubt if he will want to be my tormentor.

My only fear is that if Yar'Adua tries to clean this country up too fast, the Andy Ubas, Lucky Igbinedions who are used to getting their daily bread by corruption might decide to kill him.
Politics › Re: Why On Earth Is Ibb Not In Jail by denex: 7:11pm On Jun 30, 2007
Let me repeat what Big B1 just said. Nothing good will come out of jailing IBB. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of the law.

When we say there is no evidence, there actually is no evidence. The World Bank has vehemently denied that list and distanced itself from Nigerians who want to tell sensational stories and trying to put credibility to it by associating the name of the world bank to it.

What we do have evidence of is that of you committing the crime of defamation, which carries about a 2 year jail term in some countries. Then know that it is in the law "whoever in any matter, knowingly and willfully falsifies, makes any materially false or fictitious or fraudulent statement or representation, or makes, or uses any false writing or documentation, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both".

Don't say I didn't warn you. You may remember that OBJ put one journalist in jail during his first tenure when the journalist printed a fictitious story about OBJ making $1million for every trip he made abroad.

These laws exist in every country, it's just that they are hardly ever invoked till somebody has really overstepped the boundary. I just hope you won't be the one.

By the way, to the last poster, tolerating illegality is one thing, choosing the time to deal with it is another.

The term itself "illegal immigrant" shows that something is wrong somewhere. Nothing illegal should be condoned.

Despite this, I believe the US set the precedence for this when they opened their borders to Irish, Italian and several other European countries all in a bid to get cheap labour to build America. Today there's the same kind of arrangement with Cubans.

The thing is, if you leave your door open, hoping a butterfly will wander in, expect battalions of mosquitoes too.

I believe the Americans owe Mexicans something at least a lot of Mexicans believe that it is their birthright to be in California. That is is sort of their own Bakassi. So since the US has this Diversity Visa Lotter Program, why can it not just be undiversified and dedicated to Mexicans only. The rest of the world can simply apply for visas in the regular embassy way. The population of Mexico is about 110million and I believe that there is an individual in Mexico that can fit any position in the US whether skilled or unskilled. The Cuban thing should stop because the era of the cold war has ended. US has the ability to train its own doctors or get them through legal means. They should stop encouraging illegality from one group of people while trying to caution the other.

The idea of grants and aid by the developed countries to the developing is actually supposed to tackle the problems of illegal immigration. Because they reasoned that if these developed countries get better, the people would not be too desperate to leave. The level of migration both legal and illegal shows that all the $30billion to Africa, it's just a farce. Money that is recirculated back to the bank abounts of the US Ambassador's and USAID agents' bank accounts. They complain that the corrupt government officials embezzle the money, but truth is that, USAID does not allot cash to anybody.

Then there's the fanciful picture that is painted of the US through the media. There are millions of citizens who still believe that the streets of America are paved with gold bullions. They have to massively disinform these kinds of people. Even my elder brother who has been to the US more than once, he keeps arguing that there are no mosquitoes in the whole of the US.

Also, the fact is that this illegal immigration thing stems out of illegality itself. The alteration of ARTICLES 13 and 14 of the original UN declaration of human rights is criminal. A declaration which gave all human beings the right to move ACROSS borders of any nation in order to SEEK A BETTER LIFE. It now gives the right to move WITHIN the borders of any with intent to SEEK ASYLUM. This is not the document Eleanor Roosevelt read at the UN. Illegality only breeds illegality. I wish them luck with their millions of illegal immigrants.

Finally, I don't see this as a Bush defeat. If congress has decided to truncate any means of solving the US immigration because of party election prospects, then it's a defeat of the whole USA!

I have said it that these NLC people are dull. They are asking the motive for Yar'Adua's asset declaration. They don't know that the constitution compels him to declare his assets.

And they ask who authenticated it. He doesn't need anybody to authenticate it. He declares it, then any individual, group, agency, NGO or firm now has the onus to investigate and prove him wrong.

Then his assets before he became governor are obvious, his assets before he became president are obvious, his assets now he's president, they are clear too. What is that daft NLC PRO is saying.

@dblock

Asset declaration should not be made mandatory. It's already mandatory. It's just that the politician now how they've managed to put the citizens in the dark all this while and they do not like that Yar is making these secrets public.

I've said it that the only effective e-voting system must first register accurate individual identities of Nigerians using retinal scan since no 2 people have the same retinal identification. Anybody that registers twice or does not register, during the voting, if the person's records are not found in the system, or the system finds the person has registered more than once, as his eyes come near, it will just burn out the person's retinae. No long story.

When two or three have tried and tested its blinding effectiveness, rigging will reduce drastically, in fact, voting will reduce drastically. I wonder how many area boys will agree to risk going blind for any politician.

And I am very pissed at this clown you imported e-voting machines and is trying to pass them off as his invention. So he thought he was going to dazzle us?

Nigeria is growing at a far faster rate than South Africa but we haven caught up with them yet. We still have at least 8 OBJ years or 4 Yar years before we get to where South Africa is.

Also, weapons manufacturing is very good business. Especially in Africa where everybody wants to fight. American, European and Asian weapons manufacturers have been making billions of dollars selling weapons to African countries, now, it's Nigeria's turn.

don't dare Andy Uba O! He has already declared more than N1trillion. You want him to do more?!

@McKren

it is very honourable for you to admit your mistake. I personally believe if Yar had N150 assets in his businesses as at 1999 and that amount did not multiply over 8 years to N1 billion, then how can he take Nigeria's assets of $50billion to $500billion in 4 years? He must be a good and productive manager to manage Nigeria. And from what I can see, he hasn't done bad. He hasn't done bad at all but he can do better.

Politics › Re: Nigerian Invents Anti-Rigging Machine! by denex: 3:05pm On Jun 29, 2007
This is the same e-voting system that Iwuruwuru called for initially but we rejected it. So what are we now saying? This Aghanyi guy did not invent anything. He just imported it.

This type of voting must first register accurate individual identities of Nigerians through finger prints or retinal scan. In fact, I think I prefer recording it with retinal scan so that during the voting, if anybody's records are not found in the system, or the system finds the person has registered more than once, it will just burn out the person's retinae.

Now that is a real anti-rigging system. By the time one person goes blind because of double voting, everybody will straighten up. I wonder how many political thugs will agree to risk going blind for N1000 bribe.

Politics › Re: Yar'adua Declares His Assets by denex: 2:05pm On Jun 29, 2007
My Friend Yar'Adua is a great man. When he was young, his teacher asked him where he wanted to work and he said "here in Nigeria, where I can make a meaningful change.

Yar'Adua declared assets of about N100million in 1999, he then declares about N800million 8 years later and some people are complaining. Access Bank shares were N3 in 2006, then just a year later they went to N17 and everybody was praising them. So because Yar'Adua is a government official, his businesses should not prosper? Abi you guys forget that the man earned salaries too. You people believe in e-gold schemes, pennywise pyramids and online forex trading that can change you N5,000 to N250,000 in one year, but you don't believe that somebody that has the ability to become president does not have the ability to turn N100million to N800million in 8 years. God bless you people.

The declaration of assets is not for showmanship, but for scrutiny. If the man declares N5billion after 4 years in office we may believe it is possible. But if after 4 years in office, Yar'Adua declares assets of N30billion, then we will begin to sing another song.

I bet you guys complaining also ignored the fact that most politicians begged him because if he declares, they too might be pressured to declare their assets. Why would any transparent human being be adamant to declare their assets? The man Yar is only setting a good example of transparency and pressure other government officials into being transparent.

Nigeria jus dey better dey go. Nothing dey happen.

Since you have chosen to make a fool out of yourself, I will make sure you spare no detail so I take you to the very beginning where you bring word from the great CAL THOMAS. My first question is:

Who The Hell Is Cal Thomas? For somebody like you who does not find information from Wikipedia, it beats me that you would find this Cal Thomas as a fountain of knowledge. Em, is this not the same Cal Thomas that has called for "ethnic cleansing in Israel"? By the way, those were his exact words. Goodluck to you and your fascist Rabbi.

It remained the same you who postulated that it was inconceivable for Fatah loyalist trapped in Gaza to attempt a crossing to the West Bank through Israel. You suggested there was a better short-cut through Egypt. At one point you even went further to mention Iran and Syria.

And then only you say Israel has been around for thousands of years, the same you again will say Israel was a few days old when it was attacked by Arabs. So you switch to the history which best fits your concocted fairytale at any point in time. And by the way, I've tried to Educate you that Emperor Hadrian never named that land Palestine. The man translated the ancient Greek name of Syria Phillaistina to a new Roman name of Provincia Syria Palaestina. How could he have just named it Palestine?! Was he English? Just because you want to erode history to fit your machinations, you are willing to endorse emperor Hadrian with lingual versatility. Well carry on. And I reckon it was the same you who told your buddy Mariory that

"JEWS WERE ALSO PALESTINIANS".

So you just believe you are in the Matrix where you can bend facts to suit the fable you want to spin at the moment. Then when you want to spin a new tale, you'd say Palestine never existed. How many mouths do you have?

For the record, I'd like to state that the fact that some of us type large volumes to post here does not necessarily mean it is a criterion for anyone trying to take part in this debate. As it has come to my notice that in an attempt for you to make your posts seem voluminous and thereby allow you feel among, you keep quoting, unquoting, and requoting, in order to make yourself seem intelligent, but when you finally get the chance to post your own little contribution, it stinks to high heavens of ignorance.

Then you never miss your tactical stun words: "PROPAGANDA", "TRIPE", "SPEW". They don't make you seem any less dumb than you are. Carry on with you "Word of the day dictionary" but I promise you, it will not reduce the amount fiction in your posts. By the way, I see your new term of the day is "oh what a tool", "ah what a tool" the thing is becoming a cliche in my eyes. USING WORD OF THE DAY DICTIONARY TERMS WILL NOT CHANGE YOUR LIES TO TRUTHS!

It was you who said JUDAISM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WORD JEW.

It is you who said BEING A JEW IS MERELY A NATIONALITY. Pray tell, a nationality of where? Jewpita?

Then did you stop there? No you went further, yes you said CATHOLICS CLAIM TO BE CHRISTIANS TOO.

But more was yet to come. You asserted a definition for Jews: JEWS ARE PEOPLE BORN IN ISRAEL! With this I had to asked you if the 6 million people killed by Hitler were Buddhists. But maybe they aren't maybe they are Sango worshippers.

You with your own leprous fingers typed on a thread that Provincia Syria Palaestine existed since the 5th century BC. Same you exclaimed again that the land of Palestine did not exist till 134 AD. The same you are MAD for these various contortions of fact. Or are you 2 individuals using one ID? Abi you have Multiple Personality Disorder? Because I can put out any better explanation on how you will say the sun rises from the east, then next minute you will say it's the west and you will want to sound sincere at both instances.

Only you said all Christians are Jews by virtue of spirituality. Then moments later, you vehemently declared, and I will never forget, that: MANY CHRISTIANS ARE JEWS AND MANY JEWS ARE CHRISTIANS.
Now you have watered it down to SOME JEWS ARE CHRISTIANS AND SOME CHRISTIANS ARE JEWS. Well you're gradually getting there. I know one day you will argue that NO JEWS ARE CHRISTIANS AND NO CHRISTIANS ARE JEWS. You will get there someday, and I know it's going to be soon.

Then there are other fallacies like ISRAELIS ARE JEWS!

You keep begging us to point out your lies but we try to avoid causing any embarrassment. However, this time you've begged so much that I had to oblige you. So I have pointed some of those your fallacies out. Stop asking for people to point out a speck in your eye when there are several logs sticking out of it.

You made it absolutely clear that you care less about Nigeria, and are more interested in the US(because you probably stay there) and Israel(because your tax dollars are going there). Why don't you take your jargonized thought pattern, and take all you teachings from Rabbi Hitler aka Cal Thomas the ethnic cleanser, bounce off Mount Carmel, and dive into the Great Canyon. Stop bringing your dog crap to NAIRALAND!

Oyo Empire was about the first democracy in the world during the ancient times. When the ruler of Oyo fails his people, they send the Bashorun offer him an egg or an empty calabash. At this point, the leader had to commit suicide for failing the masses.

What we have today however, is a complete degradation and corruption of the Oyo people's culture, their tradition and honour. Nobody should help them except themselves. They know how they got themselves into this rubbish, and only them truly know the best way to get themselves out.
