For example, I never really knew what bond was, how its traded, the YTM, etc until I delve into L1. I used to think bond was some kind of chemical and wondered why will state government be selling chemicals(lol).

I am studying CFA for these reasons. When I have the charterholder, I will become a PRIVATE WEALTH MANAGER for myself first. Why should I pay a fund manager for doing what I tell him? I have strong interests in Private Equity though (the fun of sitting on the board of many companies because you have controlling interest).  I am also very much interested in the economics of emerging markets and plan to have the number 1 leading economic research firm focused on frontier, emerging markets and the 3rd world nations.

That for me is the PURPOSE for writing CFA
