I would honestly like to know how many African muslim men would actually like to marry a hijabi. many of them, I believe. However, for African muslims, many of us don't wear it so men also have many options of choosing women who do not wear itthis is very true. I must say that some have the attitude of marrying a lady with the hope of convincing her to later wear it or to stop doing so. I'd like situations where both parties understand what they expect from the relationship b4 going into it. I told my mom I was thinking of beginning to wear the hijab and she said she's afraid it might hurt my marriage prospects.I like your idea of starting to wear hijab and I hope Allah makes it easy for you. Everything we do as Muslims should be first and foremost to derive the pleasure of Allah. Your hijab could be the exact thing that brings your dream man close to you. It is okay to have fears but that of Allah is the best. A Good Muslim man, would value the hijab on you and am sure is whom you deserve. She said that we are different from arab women and that it is their culture. However, this is something that a MUSLIM woman should wear regardless of their culture or race as anyone can be muslim. Besides, not all arabs are muslims and the Christian Arabs do not wear hijab.this is a very good point sis. You know what hijab is and that knowledge is the stepping stone. Go for it and Allah will pave your path by His grace. I know I will wear it in the future, but I am afraid only backwards extremist muslim men would be attracted to me.How many "modern" and well-educated AFRICAN muslim men would actually want a hijabi or would they think she is backwards or unattractivethat is wrong, I reiterate. there are many educated, not extremist looking but knowledgeable Muslim men out there who are attracted to hijab sisters. I just mentioned my brothers as an example and they are 'big boys' mashaAllah. Anyone not covered is not it to them. . I think this is why so many women who wear hijab try to do extra things to look attractive b/c they have to compete with non-hijabis who can do things with their hair and show more skin.I think looking good is a 'women' thing. I dont see those things as extras but as normal. I believe we Muslims in hijab take pride in keeping our beauty hidden from men outside of our family . if you've known sisters, u'd know they are more prepared for when they get married and their 'hidden' beauty is a thing of 'surprise' to their husband. Also, I don't want to start a war between hijabis and non-hijabis or arguments about who is better than the other. You cannot know someone's inner character for sure. This is simply a question about outside attraction to men. Yes, the point of a hijab is to be modest, but modest does not mean you have to look unattractive or cannot look pretty. I think it is important for your future husband to have some type of physical attraction to you whether you wear hijab or not.true. more men pls. let us know what you'v got to say. |
I am a woman and your question isnt directed at me But I know from experience(avn quite a number of brothers ,etc) that hijab makes you more attractive for marriage. the 'not so serious Muslims' even want to date an hajia- it gets annoying sometimes, I tell you!- every1 wants something good .of course the inner character matters but the outside one does too and yh! we work hard to look good anyways. And about the backward Extremist-looking Muslims, am not quite sure of what that means. many pple looking that way to you are probably degree holders in different fields. I dont think it is ok to judge who is extremist or not merely by their dressing. Understandably though, its hard telling who is who but that generalisation does more harm than good. I'd give anyone looking down on me because am in hijab the most outrageous look they can ever imagine cos that is just annoying. #IDOITSOMETIMES ![]() |
I love Adesuwa's show!!!!!. I have been inspired by many of her guests. |
funmi is it! agatha tries, She's been there for long-I like her mo's like a very fake oprah i |
this guy most probably knew her as the career type and went ahead to marry her. I detest such acts in men. He could have made this known before their marriage and it wouldnt have been a problem now. @op, pls make sure you have a sustainable source of income. A Salary from him is just as bad as not working. There's more to your income than the money. respect is one and your children would be proud, like someone pointed out. |
the ceremony has nothing beneficial to the dead.what a waste of money, better spent on productive things |
jinns at work, unfortunately |
More than one hundred Islamic scholars representing various Islamic trends have issued a statement denouncing the Syrian regime and forbidding continued service in the Syrian army and security forces. They have also called on all Arab and Muslim states to withdraw their ambassadors from Syria and put pressure on the states which are continuing to support President Bashar al-Assad's regime, especially Russia and China. 107 of the most well-known Muslim scholars from various countries, representing various Islamic groups and organizations have signed the statement which was issued on Tuesday 7th February 2012 / 15th Rabi' al-Awwal 1434. They include Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Dr. Ali Gomaa, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, and Shaikh Rached Al-Ghannouchi of Tunisia. Shaikh Dr. Haitham al-Haddad also joins these scholars in signing this declaration as well as calling on the scholars of the United Kingdom to join the signatories. (Those interested in signing the declaration should contact MRDF via e-mail and we will add their names.) The scholars call on Muslims and free people all over the world to support the Free Syrian Army and at the same time call on the Free Syrian Army to be disciplined in order not to stray from its mission to protect the Syrian people - they should steer clear of harming innocent people and carrying out revenge attacks. The scholars also announced their support for any sincere effort to curtail the bloodshed in Syria and to protect the Syrian people from a prolonged civil war which could destroy the country. Such support, they said, is a fundamental Islamic requirement. They said that they supported the holding of free elections which would express the will of the people. TEXT OF THE STATEMENT All praise be to God Almighty, the praise that is due to Him in all situations. Peace and blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad and his household. What is happening in our beloved Syria – oppression, persecution, and the spilling of the blood of innocent people by a tyrannical regime and its allies is a crime that will never be forgotten. God is certain to make the shedding of the blood of innocent people a disgrace for those who participate in the regime’s crimes or remain silent, as well as for individuals, organizations and states that support it. With every day that passes, scores – sometimes hundreds – of people die and many times that number are injured. Families are made homeless, women are raped and sanctities are violated. The security forces commit these crimes without shame or hesitation whilst the world meets to merely discuss the situation. The signatories of this statement reaffirm the absolute prohibition of bloodshed in the Quran and the Sunnah, and the sanctity of all the rights which Islamic law grants and protects. In the Quran God associates shedding the blood of innocents with unbelief, “Believers, never invoke any deity side by side with God, and do not take any human being’s life – [the life] which God has willed to be sacred – except for a just cause, and do not commit adultery.[1] God promises murderers eternal hellfire, damnation, and a painful torment, and He decreed that whoever kills a person will have been considered as having killed all of mankind. Whoever saves the life of a person will be considered to have saved all of humanity. He commanded support for the weak and the oppressed. In light of this we affirm the following: 1. It is forbidden for members of the Syrian army, the security forces or other groups to kill citizens or discharge weapons in their direction. They must disobey orders to do so, even if that means being killed. Indeed, they should desert their positions. Those who have already killed people should remember that killing twice doubles the crime and that on the other hand, the gates of divine forgiveness are open. In the story of the man who killed ninety-nine people there is a lesson to all. They should not make light of murder, but neither should they think that murders they have previously committed seal the gates of repentance and forgiveness. It is better for them to be murdered than to be a murderer. It is infinitely better for anyone to meet God as a martyr than a murdering criminal. We hereby rule that it is not permissible to remain in service in the Syrian army and the security forces in the current circumstances. It is a duty to desert the forces and to stand against them. 2. We call for the support and the strengthening of the Free Syrian Army. Members of the regular army and security forces should join it in order to protect civilians, cities, and public institutions. We also call on Muslims and on the free world to support and assist this army in any way possible, materially and morally, in order for it to carry out its mission and to organise its ranks. 3. It is a duty to support the revolutionaries in Syria in all their material and psychological requirements, so that they can successfully complete their revolution and attain their rights and their freedom. 4. We call on Arab and Islamic states to take a firm stand with those states which support the Syrian regime, in particular Russia and China, and we call on Muslim peoples and their institutions to send messages of protest to the representatives of these two states and to demonstrate in front of their embassies all over the world. They should be told that they must not turn the blood of innocent people in Syria into a tool to strengthen their economic and military presence in the world. These states must realise that the future in the region belongs to the people. Whoever places his hopes on repressive tyrannical regimes prepared to kill their own people will certainly be disappointed. Their end is near. The people will not forget the shameful stances of those who stood against them and supported their oppressors. 5. We call on the revolutionaries in Syria and the Syrian National Council to stand united and to set aside any differences they may have amongst themselves, currently, or in the future. They should harbour sincere intention to build their future state on the basis of justice and the preservation of rights and freedoms. They should create civil institutions to preserve national unity and foster reconciliation steering clear of individual, class, or regional interests. They also need to protect the ethnic and religious minorities which have lived for more than a thousand years as part of the Syrian people, and who have along with the majority, all the rights of citizenship. Only the regime and its institutions have responsibility for the horrific crimes which have been committed (and not the minorities they may belong to). 6. We announce that popular committees to support the Syrian revolution are being formed all over the world especially in Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey. Such committees will also help Syrian refugees and those who have been forced out of their homes who need food, clothing, and medicine. We pray that God grant the Syrian people immediate relief, preserve their unity, and return to them a state of security and stability under a just government which is committed to the preservation of people’s rights and freedom. very well written. When u know d problem, it becomes half solved eh? What i av found very hard 2 understand about the north is the existence of the al majiris. I just never thought it hard to put those young boys and girls in school. Make it a free and compulsory education and after 12 yrs of democracy nothing has changed. Even after kano had a former teacher as a governor? Ppl blaming d problem on Islam are simply put, ignorant. |
Jum'ah mubarakahhhhh |

^^nonsense! u thnk its Jesus we were talking about. It is Jesus, a mere man u call GOd. jesus, born of a woman is whom u call God. the prophet is only a human being whom we pray for the blessings of God over. |
these christians and their delusions. They'r hoping Muslims would start lying they saw prophet Muhammad?? OH no, jinns arent having a way, posing as prophets and lying to us. |

tiarabubu:dont tell me u donno that wikipedia isnt reliable. anyone can go ahead and edit everything on it. thank me later ![]()
During the Egyptian Revolution when the soldiers were surrounding the protesters, it was the Christians that formed a ring of wall around the Muslims when it was time for them to pray. This is a very touching and powerful image. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/02/03/article-0-0D0815F9000005DC-902_634x472.jpg
its a good thing if thats what actually happened, and very amiable too. But you shld know that the rules of engagement in Islam involves that whille a group prays, the others watch over them. Therefore, the people holding hands are not necessarily christians. They coud be Muslims aware of the rule. And Allah knows best. |
i dont leave. I simply step aside and pray ![]() Lagosboy:but u'd agree the best of time is immediately after it sets in. |
Ibn Kathir explains further- Concerning Allah's statement, ثُمَّ نُنَجِّي الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوا , Then We shall save those who had Taqwa. When all of the creatures passed over the Hellfire, and those disbelievers and the disobedient people who are destined to fall into it because of their disobedience, Allah will save the believers and the righteous people from it because of their deeds. Therefore, their passing over the bridge and their speed will be based upon their deeds that they did in this life. |
^^ Everyone would be brought to hell but the righteous would be saved. Ibn Jarir reported from Abdullah that he said concerning Allah's statement, "The bridge over Hell is like the sharp edge of a sword. The first group to cross it will pass like a flash of lightning. The second group will pass like the wind. The third group will pass like the fastest horse. The fourth group will pass like the fastest cow. Then, the rest will pass while the angels will be saying, `O Allah save them, save them.''' Anyone with d ability to reason would understand that our degree of worship differs and so would be the acceptance to paradise. depending on your deeds, you would pass over hell(as Muslims) while the non believers would enter it and dwell in it forever. May Allah make us of the most pious. as below- Abdur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam commented on Allah's statement, وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا (There is not one of you but will pass over it (Hell) , "The passing of the Muslims (over the Hellfire) means their passing over a bridge that is over it. But the passing of the idolators over the Hellfire refers to their admission to the Fire.'' |
surah 19:71- وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلاَّ وَارِدُهَا كَانَ عَلَى رَبِّكَ حَتْماً مَّقْضِيّاً 19:71 There is not one of you but will pass over it (Hell); this is with your Lord, a decree which must be accomplished. ثُمَّ نُنَجِّى الَّذِينَ اتَّقَواْ وَّنَذَرُ الظَّـلِمِينَ فِيهَا جِثِيّاً 19:72 Then We shall save those who had Taqwa. And We shall leave the wrongdoers in it, Jithiyya. |
FIrst, the bigot should have read the whole surah or perhaps, d verses before and after the one he quoted. I wonder if he gets the scope of his science journals merely by reading a paragraph. Allah does talk about people like him "Allah taketh away their light and leaveth them in darkness, where they cannot see. Deaf, dumb and blind, they will not return(t the path)." 2:17-18 They who disbelieve, and deny Our revelations, such are rightful Peoples of the Fire. They will abide therein." 2:39 |
. davidylan:the only pple u'd be able to fool by d above are those meant to go astray. I av known about that verse from childhood. will be back wv the interpretation. IA |
I remember what we used to say in secondary school. there were teachers we wouldnt greet when we see in the future and some we would hit with our cars if they ever walked by. It is very bad what many teachers do. They take discipline to extreme levels. The education ministry need to scrap beating in schools ASAP. The boy and his father went overboard though. This case should be taken t court where damages can be claimed by the teacher. |
so sad ![]() |
i'd really want the city cleaned up. Too dirty I agree. Like many people said, we deserve better than this. The government shouldnt keep starting from the baseline, w'v gone beyond that. Let the 80s trains be gone wv d 80s. |
if i c a train pass by in Ibadan, i*ll be so overwhelmed with nostalgia that I'd jump, shout, take photos and share. Many pple here donno wat dats like especially if their home town dont have rail lines, let alone trains. When I was in primary schl, my elder ones went to schl by rail. From sango to apata ?? i used to hope for a chance to but that I never got because the railway system collapsed. The pictures above give me so much hope. Does anyone remember the train accidents at sango many yrs ago?? The train cldnt stop while dr was a hold up keeping vehicles on the rails. i hope they do something to avoid a repetition of that. |
tiarabubu:asking for d validity of a source means living in denial?? Such cases as u listed above exist, i know. They could be isolated ones from which generalised judgements are based. My point is they are not as bad as the media makes them. It is up to you to decide what you believe. If you have been at d receiving end of a gossip, u'd know what that feels like-am a witness to some of such lies. |

shouldnt we be calling on the government to please protect our youths, fellow Nigerians. An article once said, just like this also points out that some of the members are hand picked, given the options of being either slaughtered or carry out the heinous act of bombing. many people are too blinded by sentiments to see that .Doesnt it mean that many of the bombers carried it out of fear of being slaughtered? and not for the reason of getting the virgins of paradise like many continuously point out. |
^^how reliable are your sources. |
mashaAllah. a good job uv done on the thread. I only see it as one I can learn from and not one to take over. So, i agree with maclatunji's advice |
