@taryour's story, that's something!

During the Lagos barrack explosions that led to people dying in a lagoon, a man got to Ibadan from Lagos before realising what happened to him. He was that much shocked.

Experience is the best teacher. We all may have been saying what we would want to save first rather than what we would.

He needs to feel bad actually

And ask Allah for forgiveness with the intention of not repeating the act.

He should continue to fast

And After ramadan, he should fast continuously for 60 days for that one day that he had intercourse.

Wa Allahu a'lam.

I think your family sees something that I sense. grin
Islam › Re: Breastfeeding During Salat? by deols(f): 7:21pm On Jul 13, 2013
While I agree with what bnty said about the milk spilling and all, I actually think there are reasons a woman might need to breastfeed while praying(even if she would have to sit down).

Most women simply just keep bearing and rearing from after the 9th month of their marriage until menopause(too much exaggeration, I agree).

A woman usually has to attend to the one she's breastfeeding, the toddler and school goer. Plus cater for her husband(a typical nija setting in mind).

How much time do u think she's got?

For tahajjud as an example, she has a limited time. If her child wakes up crying at this time and it is almost time for fajr, there is no reason why she should not breastfeed as she prays even if she would have to sit down.

But if she has what it takes- help.from others etc then she shouldnt have to do that.

A hadith comes to mind of the grandsons of the prophet(S.A.W) who would play on his back while he was praying.

They were playing and not eating and they were tolerated let alone a crying child.
Islam › Re: Movies And Me by deols(op): 7:13pm On Jul 13, 2013
which american movies would an average observant muslim consider ok to watch? Examples, i mean.

obviously, something like aladdin is out of the question even though it has an arab setting.

how about nollywood movies- none or some? I guess the kannywood movies would be considered more suitable for those who watch home based films?
I'd say none of the above.

I actually found myself seeing some movies after this write up.

You know, like getting recommendations for 'professional movies'.But day by day, it got worse and more sexualised.

Hmmn. God forgive us.

I'd like to meet an existing saint.

readonenaire: Salam everyone, I don't know if this has been discussed before, but nonetheless had a long telephone convo with mum today, she expressed her feeling about zina" and how she is scared, although this issue has always bn a bone of contention for a long time, although I always re-assuring her... To hit it, she said I should try to find someone and they can just hook us up and they will have a rest of mind... But I'm still in my early 20s(undergraduate) I still have a long way into my career, beside I don't think I'm ready now at all, I understand their fear, and the perception islamic jurisdiction, I have always try to convince her to be calm, we are just three and I'm the First child.... Everyone your opinion(s) might be of help... Thanks
Wa alaykum salam.

Ma sha Allah. I understand your mum's concern and you should really be happy for someone like her. She cares so much about your hereafter. Some others discourage their children about getting married.

While she really has raised very important and good questions, you need to be prepared all- rounder b4 entering into a union. I dont think her pressure(if I can call it that) is enough reasons.

You need to be ready by all ramifications.

Talk to her about understanding and appreciating her love and concerns while explaining the reasons for your need to wait.

Or may be you actually are up to the task and only need to look inward to find that out and look outward to see she isnt far away.

I pray for the best for you.

Don't forget the need for istikhara and istishara.

Wa Allahu a'lam.

Thanks to you all, and to, particularly, brother Chakula for opening the thread. I feel so much honoured. This, again, makes me feel that I have been missing a lot for not frequenting the site these days as I sued to. Amin to the good prayers. May the Almighty Allah guide us to the right path; may He protect Muslims wherever they are; may He uplift his religion (Islam), amin.

Please accept my belated Ramadan Kareem message.

Best,

Islam › Re: Why Cant I Put On A Necklace by deols(f): 6:38pm On Jul 13, 2013
@Op,
The responses are good enough, I think.

But I want to speak on the mouth odour from a fasting person. Nothing stops you from brushing as even the siwak(pako. Sorry, cant remember english meaning embarassed) was encouraged by him.

Whatever smell is in the mouth even then, is beloved to Allah more than the musk is.

Wa Allahu a'lam.

tbaba1234: @deols, was that the right hadith?

Does it convince you?
Sorry for the late response.

I will talk about what is practicable.

A woman shouldnt use this as an excuse not to perform acts of worship.

If she wouldnt touch the Mushaf, she should recite from the divided ones.

She can use mobile apps and other software. I think women shouldnt lose out especially at this period of Ramadan.

..and Allah knows best.

Denn: who on earth mocks his parents for having bald hair or wrinkles on their faces?

it is only in this our country that people dont value what they have...they prefer to associate with what others own.

Americans still value their fords, corvettes, buicks, GMC, etc despite the existence of better brands

the koreans prefer their samsungs and hyundais and dont denigrate developments in their habitats

we might not have the best hardware, we should however encourage these guys that actually ensure our country is still a bit safe...

Nigeria is our country.....its ours
Good points though
Politics › Re: Pictures Of Military Hard-wares At The Army Day Celebration 2013 by deols(f): 10:12am On Jul 12, 2013
THe military hardware in Nigeria is only for show.

When it is time to act you find them wanting.

I dont think they have beyond the ones used in the display.

Or how do you explain that some military personnel were sent to Mali by road?? Poor people got their lives wasted angry sad

Sissie: ok tbaba1234, deols and maclatunji
1. where do/did you study about islam, which school of thought do you mostly follow, which contemporary scholars in and outside nigeria do you listen too.
2. what kind of job do you do, you seem to have much time for NL especially tbaba1234.
3. did you study islam related course in university.
Sorry for the late response. I hope you wont mind my Long post

1. Studying Islam is one constant thing that I have done all my life.My mum says that we'v been praying from the womb. Normal days at home include discussing the Qur'an or speaking of ahadith.

It is just normal that anywhere I find myself, I am involved in whatever they do that is Islam/Muslim.

So, what I know of Islam, even though I believe I am a work in progress is not a product of a particular school but I have always been attending a class or the other for arabic or for Islamic studies.

I dont believe in people following a school of thought. The Imam found to be right on a particular issue should be followed. It would be wrong to be rigid as a Muslim. A lot of problems ensue with some people calling themselves followers of particular people and then blinding themselves to what other scholars have to say.

2. I am still a student. I have less than 12 months to bagging my MBBS degree in sha Allah.

Naturally, apart from studying and a few other activities, NL is my hobby.

I started coming to NL just for the fun of it before I found myself on this section more than anywhere else.

The passion has grown and is what keeps me here.

3. No. The last time I did a truly formal Islamic studies was in Junior secondary school. YearssSsssss ago.
