Car TalkRe: Driver’s Licence: Lagos Setting A Dangerous Precedent – Frsc by deor03(m): 8:57pm On Apr 24, 2008
@ Topic
The FRSC has failed nigerians just like so many agencies have. There are so many people in nigeria with "valid" drivers licences who don't know the difference between the accelerator and the brake. Over 90% ( personal opinion) of nigerian drivers do not understand road sign, NOT , to talk of obeying them. This leads to reckless driving which causes traffic congestion and Loss of lifes.
If FRSC does it work very well, traffic problem will drastically reduce

States like Lagos bears the brunch of the problem when some Federal agencies are not doing their work. I think this i a step in the right direction by the LASG.

If you really believe that this is the reason for this investigation, you bring me back to my initial question, some pages ago, and the same issue,  why is YarAdua involved in this?? and why is the appropriate office not handling this insteadhuh Why it is being made a "National" issue and not a customers vs company issuehuh Please answer, bearing in mind that the Naomi campbell could not make her own issue about the country either but in this case, it is being made about a country issue. The other non-nigerians who were ordered off the plan did not make it a country vs BA issue either.
Mr president was expecting a report from the ministry which was not forth coming. In order to expedite the report he wrote a formal letter to the minister to carry out the investigation and furnish him with a report.
What in this world is wrong with that?
Naomi campbell issue is a LOCAL issue (afterall she is british), so you don't expect Brown to send the foreing affairs secretary to act on that. These are two contrasting scenarios.

Well, then please define this "Maltreatment of Nigerians" he is speaking of. Since, according to the article and information made available to all, Mr Omotade was the one who was supposedly the one who came to rescue the man screaming "I go die oo" and all the other 136 people who were ushered off the plane and on to other flights were not manhandled, bearing in mind that not all 136 of them were Nigerians. By the way, around the same time, Naomi Campbell was also thrown off one of BA flights for causing commotion and she was also banned for life from flying BA. LMAO!!! So I would really like to understand how this all becomes about MALTREATMENT OF NIGERIANS.
Very good. That is the reason for the Investigation ordered by the president. So that people like you and me can know what really happened. Just keep your fingers crossed and wait for the outcome of the investigation before you condem the move prematurely.

people should not be forced to applaud the stupidity some nigerians display abroad. i use BA regularly and frankly i am ashamed to see how our people sometimes behave. we are not the only people they fly.

we are all for not washing our ugly dirty linen in public but no one should be made to feel bad for calling silly people the ugly names they fully deserve. reserve your name calling to people giving the country a bad image

fact is some people don't play by the rules and they must be made to pay the penalty. don't do the crime if you can't stand the sentence. there should not be any rule anywhere for nigerians only. we must learn to be law abiding no matter where we are.
I quite agree with you that some people ( NOT only Nigerians) could be unrully but what i don't agree with you is that "they" should generalise us. Since when terminal 5 problems started , I am sure thousands of nigerians would have passed through the Terminal. The last time i checked my records, NAOMI CAMPBELL is/was not a Nigerian.

Kobojunkie:
So this one Nigerian man who was being deported is your interpretation of ALL NIGERIANS paying the price in the hands of foreign airlineshuh ha!!
Please read the thread very well, Mr president is not ordering  probe because of the deportee but because of the 137 Nigerians. Those are the ones my compatriot is talking about.

Nwandolina, usually am not one to engage in personal attacks but your ignorance and unguarded comments make me in the stomach. I really don't kno how people reason but if i want to argue on something, I make sure i know my facts.
1. You did not even know what state the President Governed.
2. You have never been to Kastina State before, or even bothered to read, yes read ( the word seems strange to you abi, because am sure you don't know how to do that, judging from your ignorant and totally unguarded comments), because if you know hat read means, you will take time to search for necessary materials and read about the president and his tenure in Kastina. I get so irriotated when people open their mouths and so much rubbish spills out with so much ignorance.
Almondjoy, please learn to admit sometimes that you made a wrong statement, and apologise, it really takes nothing from you, it could be fun quarelling on nairaland but somtimes its unnecessary.
Nwandolina, respectyourself and shut if you cannot speak on facts.
Saying the fact is a problem for some (former) Nigerians that are abroad. By checking out their post you will realise that some of them travelled out when the Head of State was still ruling from Lagos. This is a long time you know, and they are being fed by the CNN, ABC, BBC etc. Sad enough they have been psychologically distorted and are used to thinking within the BOX that has been created by this foreign media. Unfortunately they are like MJ or even worse. They are neither Americans or African Americans or even Africans. The study of sociology will give you idea of what they are passing through, so I don't really blame them. They have been caught in the web and we are the closest they can associate with otherwise why would someone post over a 100 times in what does NOT concern you.
I have never been to kastina but i heard a lot was done there (since it is not confirmed i choose not to state it as a fact).Nigeria has it own problem just like every country does. If the government takes action, they say it is NOT their business; If the government does NOT take action, they say the government is go-slow. huh huh

One year is enough to supply constant electricity and water to at least  one city outside of Abuja
They can do a test case.
Pick a city out of a hat and use it as a case study and a model that all local governments and states must follow or else there'll be questions they need to answer.
Apply for One year OFF and manage the research. It is so easy to sit in one comfort zone and complain

It's his job description to oversee it all.
Especially in a lawless land with no set rules where presidents think it's their job to frolick with ashewo since they cannot run the day to day affairs.
If the country fails,it's his fault so he better be doing the running.
Let's not start now to make excuses for any failures and disappointments to come.
Like the Governor of New York or the Mayor of London , abi?

The speculation is really getting out of hand, and I do agree with the AC that the poor management of the Yardie's health information is to blame for all this wild guessing going on. I do not think his health had any impact on his governance in Katsina, except providing the dialysis unit which other kidney disease sufferers now benefit from.

The day to day governance of the country, with all due respect is not done by the president. His lieutenants can carry that task out very well if well chosen. Who says his ailment is incurable? We are jumping the gun too much here, he has been fit as a fiddle for over a year now before this incident, that doesn't sound like a chronically ill person to me.

He has not been as 'active' as Obasanjo was, but we are all seeing the results of that 'activity' now. Personally, I feel his health is a non-issue in the long run, except for the argument that Nigerian medical facilities should be able to handle the president's issues. Some presidents elsewhere have been on wheelchairs and still done the business, people are acting like Yardie needs to go slap NEPA officials like Obj did before we see action.
That is it. The president does not do the day to day governance of the country

So being down for less than one week in one year is a big deal. You guys are not real.  We have a constitution and electoral act  yeah, and there is NO part of the constitution that bars him from contesting for presidency.

Former prime minister of isreal was in coma for how long before he was replaced?

Please back to the topic

There nothing wrong in the decision of the president to order a probe into the alledged maltreatment of 137 Nigerians.  It is an allegation so i think a probe should be carried out before a responsible government make statements
This will send the necessary signal, that could be the intention.

I thought you are talking about developed countries. How came his fundermantal human right to vote and be voted for will talen from him by NOT ALLOWING to contest.

The present governor of NY is blind mind you. The present president of Ukraine ( i think Yuvshenko but not sure) contested and won the presidential election as a sick man.

If he has the mental capacity to rule why NOT!!. His mental state is the most important. People like you SEE this things only when it happens in Nigeria.
From the foregoing, it is evident that the death of Hon. Calus Enoma was natural and not caused by anyone as widely speculated by the general public.”

Asked why the police did not want to disclose the identity of the lady who accompanied the late commissioner, Okiro said there was no need for such.

He, however, added that the lady claimed to have been surprised by the way the late commissioner was gasping for breath in the course of their interaction.
Okiro said, “We wanted to know how the man got to the hotel. We found out that he went there with a lady, who is a student of the University of Benin. She said when they were there (in the hotel), he started gasping for breath, and that she tried to revive him but failed.

I really don't know when the black man( especially Nigerians) can ever come together for a cause. This is as simple as fighting for yourselves if you boycott these guys it is their turn today, it might be your turn tomorrow.

The airline would have almost gone bankcrupt if this happened to a british man. Environmentalist almost runied shell's income some years back in the UK because of a false alarm.

What they did to the passangers of the plane is wrong. There are better ways of managing that crisis. The wouldn't have done that to europeans.

I guess this is a very valid question to ask. If we all do what we are supposed to do , when we are supposed to do them right . I guess we will get to the promise land lot quicker.

It been frustrating actually but the fact that is that we should see this as an oppurtunity rather than a burden. If this generation can make things work. It is for our good and for the generation coming behind us.
