Good morning house, my interview is in Abuja next Monday and I'm so nervous. I have been rejected once in 2016 when I applied for a regular tourist visa with hubby.
My main concern now is, I and hubby were able to get an appointment date together on same day. But he is suggesting we go separately to be interviewed as we went together last time and we were rejected.
I'm a little skeptical about it.
He has been to the US twice in the past, I haven't. He is also my sponsor for the trip.
How do I answer questions like "does your husband have a valid US visa?" And " will he be traveling with you?"
I'm just confused and don't want to say anything that'll make my story seem fabricated.
NB- We just got back from a 2week vacation to the UK last week.
I NEED MORE ADVICE FROM YOU GUYS .
thank you.
You even stand a better chance if you apply together, because he's been to the us before and you haven't,so his travel history covers you. And moreover, you have already secured a date together, why go through the stress of changing it.
Best of luck.

Hi gurus in the house, pls my sister have intrrview in lagos in sept with her son, her husband intent applying for his own after they must have gone for the interview if its sucessful cos they went together sometime in April for tourism and was denied.

But this time, she is doing medical visa. The question is because dates are getting far and her EDD is in dec. If the husband apply now, he can get a Nov date as against waiting and applying in sept when available dates might likely be nxt year and baby must have come by then.
What of if the wife's interview isn't sucessful? What will the hubby now say he will be going to US to do as the intension is really going to experince the birth of their new baby.
I think the husband should still apply now. Reason should be vacation and to witness the birth,so that if witnessing birth is off the table,he can still use it for vacation.I don't think it matters much wether the wife gets it or not. I read of a woman here who applied for medical visa and baby came prematurely before her interview date. She went for the visa interview and got the visa

Good day everyone, pls how do I obtain my LO’s American passport without my husband being here with me? Doe he have to go and sign some forms at the Embassy in Nigeria? What if he is not in Nigeria, can he go to the American embassy in that country?
He should go to the American Embassy wherever he is and notariize the document and send it to you afterwards

Good day people...been a while here. My LO finally arrived on the 21st through Dr Esebede...will share my Journey so far to help others pretty soon.

I need an advice from my fellow nairalanders please. Hubby is presently around but will be returning in a few days and the SSN hasn’t come yet. Is there a way I can get him to notarize here in Dallas for Lo’s passport before he leaves?

Kindly advice on how we should go about this please. His travel date cannot be changed cos we left other Los back home . Thank you
Just Google nearest notary public and get him to go there and notariize the doc,no big deal

Thanks a lot OmoBendel24 for that guidance,
With a valid b1/b2 visa, can I make a fresh application so I can secure access with my family to the VO.
Or can I have my wife and boy apply now with me. How do we word the story for the VO?

Thanks again.
No need for you to make a fresh application when it's time for your wife and kid to apply Your wife and kid can apply alone when the time comes,it's not a must that you should be with them when they appear before the vo

Hello beautiful people.. I'm asking for a friend whose baby slipped through her hands at the hospital on the day she was to be discharged after birthing her LO. Baby was sent to NICU and later transfered to a children hospital for proper check up and was fine. $21,000 was sent to the mother for the baby's bills. Could anyone be kind enough to advise how to go about sorting this please.
Tell your friend to seriously negotiate for a discount and if at the end she still can't pay everything once, she should also negotiate a payment plan.

Hi All,

Please i am searching for someone that loves babies, that is coming back to Nigeria from L.A , U.S via virgin atlantic in early May to help a twin mom with the second baby, just thru airline boarding. This can be done at a negotiated fee or free. Please contact +1 456 510 0477 via whatsapp
Wish you luck with the search, but just incase you don't get anyone before your departure date, just go to the airport very early and start asking people, you just might be lucky to get someone. All the best

Hello everyone, please I need an advice. I had shared my POE experience weeks ago where I wasn’t asked about duration of stay or pregnancy.
DH is joining me soon and I will like to know if he needs to mention child birth at POE or he should simply say vacation. I intend scanning receipts to him and his duration of stay is 4 weeks
Thank you.
He can say he is traveling to witness the birth of his child,he should be prepared in case they grill him

Good morning my people. Thank you all for the spirit of sharing in the community. My wife and I are expecting our LO in July and we're looking at renting an entire apartment. Is there anyone interested in sharing a two bedroom apartment between June 4 to Aug 31? I am also open to other means of accommodation if anyone has something to share here.
Oga! You didn't state the city and area where you are looking for this accommodation o. America is a very big country o.

If you have a long layover with the economy class promo ticket, you are expected to sort yourself (accomodation & feeding)Qatar airways did not give me anything o,as in anything. Absolutely nothing whatsoever was given.

Hello dere5, how was your trip. Please can you share your experience as regards the layover period in Doha
Flight arrived Doha at 11:30 pm at night. Decided to pay $55 for access to use the lounge, instead of paying around $160 for the airport hotel. The lounge was ok,the only draw back with the lounge use is that it doesn't have sleeping arrangements (bed) but you can use the couch, you only have access to food, drinks and shower.
But I later found out the following day from some fellow naijas that we came from Lagos together that were also going to the us,that they spent the night is a quite room available at the airport for free.

Not true just came into the US via Atlanta poe under similar scenario 2 days ago and no issues what so ever, just use rubber band to bind both covers of passport together and you are good to go

Please house, I know this might have been treated before but kinda confusing. I crave ur indulgence to please help or throw more light, I have my visa already but my passport would be expiring in September(ending) & intend traveling by May (ending), is there any need renewing my passport b4 traveling as the validity would be exactly 4months when I land the POE? Getting confused & really worked up about this 6months thingy. Thanx.
NB: visa was issued early January
If I were you I'll just renew it for my peace of mind sake. Some CBP officers might stamp you on for the duration of your passport

Good day people,
Pls how do you handle a case of someone that gave birth twice in the US, paid all her bills and collected zero balance letters. Subsequently applied for renewal via drop box and was invited for interview.
The interview asked for all the receipts , she gave all itemised and zero balance letters, vo just flipped through and said to her you were given discount of over 9k. She responsed that she was self pay and that the hospitals has a package for self pay international patients.
The vo looked at the birth certificate and told her you said you are resident there that is why the birth certificate has a u.s address on it. She said no, not at all that she said she is international and even gave the hospital her passport. That the address on the birth certificate and even receipts were for correspondence since they asked for a local address incase they want to post things, that they dont post internationally. He went ahead to deny her on 214 . She called the hospitals and doctors offices , they said she is not owing them as stated in her zero balance letter.
Pls who can she talk to?How can this be handled?
Apply again, you just might be lucky to meet a more reasonable and understanding VO,who is experienced in this birth tourism waka and understands how it works

Thanks for your response Omo God bless but.My to expire visa is medical B2 and from my understanding on Dropbox you will renew base on ur expired visa.and my contact then was my doctor .so now I want to renew via drop box for medical as expired and am not pregnant which contact will i use? That was why I sent mail to bizzle6 since she renewed same way to help.
Still renew via Dropbox, your category still falls under b1/b2. Use the the address of your new host as your contact,no bigie. You don't need to book appointment for drop box .

My husband's passport would expire September 17 and he intends traveling from July to September 8 for vacation.Would that be a problem? He has a valid visa
Thanks
I think your husband is good to go,i don't think the 6 months thing applies to people with visas already. I think it applies to people who plan to apply freshly. I stand corrected though.

Hello. Please has any one had nicu bill here. How was it cleared. Mediacaid has been on my neck to accept for the baby as he is a citizen. Am talking about 32k dollars even after discount. Please anyone with experience on this. How do i handle this one.
Stay away from Medicaid either for yourself or baby if you ever plan on renewing your visa. Don't allow them to kobalise you o. Baby is a us citizen quite alright, but you the parents are not and you don't pay tax to the us government.
Source for funds via avenues like gofundme.com etc or negotiatie a payment plan that is if you have exhausted all avenues of negotiation to further reduce the bill.

Good evening house,
I know it’s not a crime to carry more than $10,000 as long as you declare it.
This question is for the gurus or non-1st travelers , Pls What’s the max amount $ you will advise someone that wants to carry more cash than on cards. Reason for travel stated at interview-to give birth. Pls advise
As you rightly said, the law permits you to carry any amount, but YOU MUST DECLEAR ANY AMOUT ABOVE 10K. If asked you should also be able to explain and support that the said cash was gotten legally (this is to prevent money laundering)

Oops!
That was a mix-up in there.
It was $125 dollars. I'll go edit my post.
I paid to the Qatar airways office in Lagos, as they said if I waited till I got to Doha, chances that I got a hotel room was low.
The hotel I got was the airport hotel- the Oryx Airport hotel.
Safe travels!
Thanks,$125 is more like it. Don't mind me o, my eyes lit up when I saw $60,I thought I had hit jack pot.

My ATL POE transcript:

So I flew Qatar airways, and got into the states a few days ago.
POE was ATL.
Also, if you are flying Qatar air, and you bought your ticket within the past few months(when their tickets were kind of discounted), be aware you won't be getting hotel accomodation. Whether you bought Economy value or Economy saver tickets- all the same. No hotel lodging. I bought Economy Value tickets and had to pay about $60 in Nigeria to have hotel accommodation reserved for me. I should have just bought Economy saver tickets!
I'll be flying them in a couple of days. Pls how did you arrange the $60 hotel. Is it a proper hotel or lounge access. I'm very much interested in it.Will arrive Doha at mid night and leave 8am next morning,so I definitely need a place to sleep.

Interview was just yesterday. It was an impromptu decision to take her cos my cousin’s school plans changed. Unfortunately, I didn’t follow their work contract guidelines. My nanny said the vo went through all the documents thoroughly and said he is satisfied with all but the contract. So gave her a white 221g form requesting for the contract and another showing the guidelines. If only I knew the guidelines b4 hand.
The sooner you submit the contract the sooner her passport will come out. Worse case scenario if the passport comes out late she can join you in the us as soon as it comes out.

. @raheemkeji, pls have u paid $200 or u are just going for the interview with only doctor's correspondence?
The $200 he asked you to pay is for the correspondence that youll take with you for the interview, and it's to show some level of commitment and seriousness on your part and it will be deducted from your total bill when you get there, but if para adventure you don't get the visa it's bye bye $200 I assume since it's nonrefundable.

Can you kindly state what the E-Mail correspondence should establish? I mailed Dr. F and he responded with an attached cost document. Is that enough evidence of correspondence or what else do I need please?
Yes, if it's the same response I got from him some years back, where he gave a cost breakdown, then it should be enough to show as dr's correspondence.

I went for a missionary journey in 2015, and during my visa interview I stated that I was going to give birth and visa was approved.
In August 2017 I wanted to apply a visa for my daughter for vacation the visa was denied.
Reapply for you & daughter anytime soon and do it by yourself this time around. Make sure you get the things he asked for that you didn't have eg dr's initial bill, child's birth certificate etc.

Hi Friends,
New on this great group.I kindly need advice. My wife and I just renewed our B1/B2 visas via drop box and have decided to go for childbirth. We have all the correspondences with the doctor which we obtained after the visa was issued and will receive a formal acceptance letter from the doctor after he would have received from our Nigerian doctor DW's medical history. We intend to pay our medical bills on receipt of the invoice from the doctor before travelling out.Accommodation is settled. However in view of the repeated counsel on this group that it is preferable to have a medical visa for birthing we are thinking of making a fresh visa application for a medical visa but the interview date may well be after our intended date of travel and DH maybe ineligible to travel due to closeness to EDD. It is said that an interview date may be expedited with genuine reasons? The alternative is to as some of us have done send change of intent letter before trip ,tell the truth at POE with all burden of proof and expect a favourable discretionary entry.
Kindly advise.
Thank you
I hasten to add that DH n DW both work in Nigeria n have sufficient ties to the country with other kids.
I don't think you should bother with a new visa. If you reapply for medical reasons,it's the same b1/B2 visa you'll be issued, the only difference is that you've stated your reasons up front.so why bother reapplying. Just do as you plan i.e,write the intent letter, pay your bills upfront before traveling and arm yourself with all the necessary burden of proof, I'm almost certain you'll be fine. Best of luck.

Hi everyone, I just arrived Atlanta and discovered my passport wasn’t stamped and when I checked online I discovered I was stamped in till 9th April, which is before my due date. I declared childbirth both at my visa interview and at cbp. Please what do I do?
This is a 1st for me o.Most people here that had this issue of their passports not being stamped, were usually permitted to stay for 6months when they check it online. Don't know why yours was for just one month. Check online, there should be a place you can apply for extension.
