I brought the issue here, though DH also was seeking answers both on and offline. He came back one day and we both decided to try again by redeclaring our intent. ugoguchy: i was that i didnt declare my intention during the interview,if you have read my thread on this page you will see my transcript when i got the visa,i was asked if i was pregnant and if i would give birth in the US which i said yes,so i was confused and the VO said nothing of that such was in my transcript, felt very bad and cried home...december last year went for the 2nd interview in abj again and was denied, same reason... i came here and some people encouraged me to try again but this time to lagos and some said no need just give up,was really determined to try again, renewed my passport and applied for the 3rd time but to lagos(all these while i was applying for vacation, this time i applied for a medical visa straight up),applied for an emergency appt and it was approved after 3days (tension wan kill me),went for my interview by 6:30am,one of the CGI ladies saw my condition and fast tracked me... .. Congratulations,I was actually looking out for your post. |

NneMuna: Hello everyone, thanks so much for sharing your experiences on this forum. It has helped me understand the interview process a great deal. GOD bless the brains behind this.
Please I’d like to have a sample Letter written by a Nigerian physician to the physician in the US. Is it a requirement for the Visa interview? Who should it be addressed to? No, the letter is not required for visa interview, but some us doctors demand for it cause the want to know your medical history. |

Awesome777: I actually got the visa with my husband, we wanted to attend my cousin's wedding which was what we stated during the interview but we couldn't make it due to circumstances beyond our control.
I was just few weeks pregnant as at that time but was unaware when I got the visa in August.
So how do I go about it? The ideal scenario would be to use the visa for what it was issued for,but if you must make the trip then the issue would now be with visa renewal. If you are still bent on making the trip after all said and done, then you have to write the change of intent letter, get Dr & hospital correspondence and then hold plenty of cash to show at Poe to convince them that you can pay your bills. |

starpexgoody: Happy sunday to all the mamas and papas and congratulations on all ur new and intending births. Please i av 2 questions. 1)Please who has flown ethiopian airlines to washington dulles recently? how easy is it to add baby ticket n how is their service. 2) Is it possible to have baby in one state and get baby's birth certificate then eventually port to another state where you process baby's US passport and naija passport and then cum bk to naija. Am asking these cos of accommodation constraints in the birth state . Thnk you for ur kind contributions I have not flown Ethiopian airlines before, but from what I've read here of people that have used them I don't think adding baby's ticket is such a big deal with them,if it was, they would have mentioned it. Yes,it is very possible to have your baby in one state, collect the birth certificate and move to another state to process American and Naija passport. |

Mamatukwas: Hi @Ada88 .... Yes iv had PIH with both my pregnancies and have delivered safely but having also cried just this past week because a lady I know with this same PIH/Pre eclampsia had to deliver her child at 27weeks and eventually bury same I can tell you honestly that this is a very personal journey!
Having said that here are my personal tips: - Make sure you are seeing doctors who know whatssap... As in who know their work. If possible not only gynecologists at this point. - Follow your doctors instructions carefully. This is not the time to mess with your drugs or with google. - I'm currently on labetalol And Aldomet because of my range and history... check your bp frequently at home to ensure that only labetalol in the doses you are using is doing the job. - it's time for some lifestyle changes. Cut of salt and all fast foods, yes all! Not the time for Sfc and co, they have too much salt in their food. Also start taking walks if you haven't been doing so. - Stop worrying about the BP or about anything for that matter.Trust me the less you worry the lower your BP and vice versa. - If manages well there's no reason you can't stay in Nigeria till 34/35 weeks... However pls inform your doctor in the US immediately you arriveof your history. - There's a 95% chance that you will be induced. This is because typically as the weeks advance your BP does same regardless of drug use so again you know your levels and the best time to leave Naija... you shall most likely not get to 40 weeks. - Because of point above, there's a higher chance of CS if your doctor chooses that route or if you or your baby do not respond well to inducing... keep an a open mind. And that being said pls pay for epidural oh... coz most times the tin can take longer than the average. - All in all you will do just fine! Just take closer care of yourself and environment, watch what you eat and don't be careless with meds or with yourself generally - And finally pray and trust God who has successfully seen millions of women with the same condition through! You will testify this year IJN, Amen.
Hope this helped... Sorry for any typos... can't go back to edit. Happy Bumping! This is one of the reasons I love this forum, total strangers taking time out to be of help to their fellow man God bless you madam. |

kokorita: morning house, please I need an advice for a good friend of mine.she had her baby boy in Maryland , She was billed 4,100.66 dollars for lab test and she asked them before the test. How much it was. And the doctors office nurses said its the lab department that handles that. Now she got a mail giving her a break down of the lab test and charged her that huge amount just for test. She's confused . Please house any expenrice or advise. Thanks Morning house. My friend was able to get a discount on her lab bill from 4,100.66 to 2,190.77. Want to find out. If she does a year payment plan with the lab. But clears are other bills like doctor fees , hosiptal fees , epidural , baby doctors fees etc. Will it affect her reapplying from a visa. I don't think being on a payment plan would prevent them from renewing her visa, but tell her that she must be faithful to whatever plan she enters into o, and that she should keep all documents intact eg the payment plan agreement itself, bank statements to show she is faithful to the payment plan just incase if she is called for interview, she would have evidence to show that she has been keeping her own end of the bargain. I know two different people who were on a payment plan and were faithful to it and they had their visas renewed while still on the plan.one was by Dropbox, while the other was invited for interview after she applied via Dropbox. |

bidrozey: I have been a silent reader on this particular thread. Thanks to all those that have taken their time to respond . I got my visa 2weeks after my wedding June and was not pregnant . Hoping to travel with DH for honeymoon who still have a running visa but we couldn't make the trip and ended up going to Dubai. Now we are planning to give birth in the US. From the thread LETTER OF INTENT seems nt to carry much weight so I plan opening up at the POE with clear intentions.... PLEASE I NEED ADVISE ON D'S ISSUE. Pls does anyone have any idea of hospitals/Dr in Philadelphia or anyone EDD that falls around April and needs to share accommodation in HUSTON or any state that the bills are not too extreme... and also planning to travel Jan. I don't want to stay in an environment I don't have any1 alone because of boredom . Will be waiting for response. Thanks. This is a do it yourself forum, you might be lucky to get a response or two or people will just read and pass. What I would advise you to do is read and take down notes and research extensively here and outside here also, you don't have much time left if you're planning to travel in January. Still write the change of intent letter since you were not pregnant when you got your visa. Get hospital and Dr's correspondence even if it is from a Houston Dr and hold plenty of cash to show at poe |

captain90210: Apologies for your denial. It can be very painful knowing u posses and qualify for the visa in all ramification.
But what I feel the VO misunderstood is that the $2300 was for the entire medical expenses (doctor, tests and scan, hospital) which in my little experience here, is low for the entire expense. That was what raised his curiosity and maybe coupled with a bad day for him. I think your last sentence summed it all up, the VO was just having a bad day, cause according to Omodadi, she explained to the VO that the $2300 was just for hospital and it excluded Dr,lab, epidural etc, that she even went further to explain that her final bill came to about $7000, which she had receipts for and which the VO already had in his possession, but alas! he refused to look at it and all her explanation fell on deaf ears. Like I said earlier, she should just reapply soonest she'll get it this time around. Wish her |

Omodadi2: Good afternoon ppl. I havve come to really rant here this afternoon as I personally feel that some cases of visa denial including mine are extreme wickedness. What exactly is the criteria to qualify for a US visa or renewal?
I got a B1/B2 visa purposely for birth which I used last year, paid my bills and came back. Went with my mum and my husband came to join us, he was there for 6weeks while we spent 11weeks. Madam, I feel your pain. Just as we have all read here that some Vo's & CBP officer's are not too Happy with the discount that some American Drs & hospitals give uninsured cash paying patients. I think you were just unfortunate to meet with one of those Vo's that had that issue. Pls reapply again,I'm confident that your visa will be renewed. Abeg no vex. |

I must confess after reading your first post,I was one of those that though that you had an almost impossible task ahead of you convincing the VO that you didn't know that you were pregnant when you got the visa, because that's the line a lot of people use after intentionally lying during interview, but I guess God saw your honest heart and granted you favour. Not a common occurrence at all. |

When i got the visa i didnt know i was pregnant.. was probably 1 and half months gone ..so when we eventually pregnant and decided to travel to have my daughter i sent a change of intent stating i was travelling with my son(a year snd half) and hubby. At POE we stated that i was gonna stay for 4 montha and hubby was staying for 2 weeks(he had a training). Paid all my bills and got receipts before i left This year hubby and i changed jobs and all so we just applied to renew our visa (dropbox)since we both have not been able to travel... now they have invited all of us for a face to face interview.. i dunno y oo.. Please can anyone advise me... thank you Lile someone rightly said,It's quite obvious why they want to see you. Did you use the visa for what it was gotten for? You stayed for 4 months, did you state at your visa interview that you were going to be away for 4 months? I sincerely hope that they believe you when you tell them that you were not aware that you were pregnant when you got the visa,a lot lies on you to try to convince them that truly you were unaware. Go with all your receipts and zero balance. |

I discovered everybody here is applying from Nigeria so the story is different. My question is can i apply for birth visa( i mean stating the purpose) while on a student visa in another country. I'm considering this option because it's gonna take 10yrs to get citizenship for my LO if i chose to givie birth here and the cost of birthing is almost the same. Thanks I guess you are good to apply if you can show evidence that you can afford it and your studies can also act as burden of proof to show that you have a good reason for returning after birth. Just read this thread very well, you'll be alright. |
