What do you want him to do? He's an elder statesman and the only person who can/should speak about it. Oh, he was a genius when he critiquing the North, their belief system, and BH(I know I've read more than five articles on Telegraph UK where he said not-too pleasant things about the North). However, now that he's calling a spade a spade and trying to save Nigeria from what happened during the first republic - he's talking too much, no? Yes, he has been in the media too much lately. However, when people keep coming to you to ask for your opinions, or soliciting your voice - as an elderstateman - who do you expect? He won't be here forever and he's getting closer to when he won't be here anymore. So it's only right that he speaks out. Dede1, you of all people should know what started the truncation of the first republic and, eventually the civil war. Yet you still want to malign the erudite professor for speaking the truth because you can't think beyond your innate tribal logic. The woman is behind everything going on in that state and Prof. Wole Soyinka has every right to call her out. Even if you're oblivious to what transpired in that state in the last few months - the video by the Bipi guy should tell you everything you need to know about who the mastermind of the whole fracas is. Prof. Wole Soyinka is a Nigerian(a passionate, detribalised and patriotic one) and he has every right in the world to speak out before the fire in Rivers state consumes the whole country. If someone had spoken out during the first republic and called Ahmadu Bello, Zik, and Akintola, to order. Perhaps, the first republic would have survived and the civil war wouldn't have happened. Anyway, most Nigerians are book readers and not critical thinkers.
Shymaxxx, My post never remotely sought to impugn the character of Wole Soyinka or contain iota of malignant on the erudition of the professor. Wole Soyinka is a well-informed elderly person and knows well enough that one-sided stack of weights on a boat can easily lead to capsize. What good does it do Nigeria when a caliber of Wole Soyinka woefully failed to convince multitude of ill-informed Nigerians that there are two sides to a coin? It is even worst that a reputable character such as Wole Soyinka has gone public with a political theme based on presumptuous machinations. Wole Soyinka can not attest to the fact he has been in a meeting with Patience Jonathan where she hatched the plan to create political crisis in Rivers State. If Patience Jonathan is hailed from a state other Rivers State, would Wole Soyinka accuse her of the genesis of political chaos in the state? |
@OP The post reeks of irresponsibility and idiocy prevalent in Nigeria. How could a person of average intellect such as Okezie Ikpeazu publicly make wild and winded accusations as shown in the post? Such as "There were unidentified companies that connived with unknown lorry drivers to lift alien wastes and dump illegally in Aba". One wonders what happened to mere exploratory investigation of the waste, at least, to link it to a particular company in Port Harcourt or elsewhere. |
I am deeply disappointed that Wole Soyinka has turned himself into a political pestilence by making political pronouncements without weighing them on the political balance of maturity. Where was Wole Soyinka when most of the goofy governors such as Rotimi Amaechi were busy suspending and destroying the bedrock of democracy-Local Government Council? What the hell were Amaechi and his entourage of thugs doing in the chamber of Rivers State House of Assembly? Has Amaechi assumed the functions of CP in Rivers State? It is very unbecoming Wole Soyinka to have allowed himself to be drawn into Nigerian messy politics by publicly attributing the political crisis in Rivers State to Mrs. Patience Jonathan. Since a person of humanly repute such as Wole Soyinka has come out publicly to accuse Patience Jonathan as the genesis of the political mess in Rivers State, it is safe to conclude that Patience Jonathan instructed Rotimi Amaechi to disrupt the plenary session in the Rivers State House of Assembly, suspend the elected officials of Obio/Akpo LGA and singlehandedly changed the process of succession in NGF. Again, Nigeria’s problem lies deeply in tribal bias, insincerity and praise singing. |
@ow11, @truth4meal, @omonnakoda, @Rhinoceros It is a pity one has to deal with congregation of loudmouths such as addressees in this post. I had taken Patience Faka Jonathan over Ozodi Osuji any day. Osuji is not only an extrovert but also an irresponsible narcissist. I guess only in Nigeria that malnourished punks expect a lioness to give birth to a sheep. There is a society that produced Patience Faka Jonathan and it is called Nigerian which all the finger pointers belonged. If you think Patience Faka Jonathan belongs to the society of counterculture as dumbass Ozodi Osuji would wants us to believe, who is Ozodi Osuji? When Ozodi Osuji had the followings to say about fellow Africans, “even though they are starving and come to the West to drive cabs and take care of old white folks (as assisted care workers, glorified name for nannies for old people)”, one wonders what he was doing in a healthcare provider’s office where he got fired for petty theft? I do not give rat-arse if Ozodi Osuji takes Patience Faka Jonathan to the cleaners but take offence when the moronic dingbat arrogates err of personality to his silly self when he can not navigate the way to his village of Umuohiagu in Ngor Okpuala LGA. |
Like I told him in Portland, Oregon, Ozodi Osuji is an ill-educated numbskull. He is the only man who claims to know more than next door neighbor yet he does not understand the nuisances of his last name. It is very ironic Osuji kept placing the Asians in higher platform of social order than Africans in most of his conjectural craps yet he forgot to emulate the Asians who do not engage in writing craps like he does. Unlike Ozodi Osuji, Patience Faka Jonathan has yet to be sacked from her job due to petty theft. |
Rotimi Amaechi is politically myopic. He has been involved with any political shenanigans that shun democratic principles such as suspension of local government councilors and the debacles in NGF. What the hell is the governor doing in Rivers State House of Assembly where its members were spoiling for a fight? The dispersal of unruly house members is the responsibility of the House Speaker and Commissioner of Police. |
Nigeria’s main problem is threefold in the manners of tribal bias, insincerity and praise singer. How could any reasonable person blame someone else over the political crisis in Rivers State? Every politics is local and Rivers State is no exception. Any state governor involved in suspension of elected local government councilors has no place in democracy. Ingrates such as Rotimi Amaechi should be thrown out of Nigeria along with his supporters. |
America has not said they won't play with us. America only said we should strengthen our democratic institutions.. America didn't insult us, they only adviced. Romancing with China to spite America is not Healthy.. More so, China doesn't pay attention to details.. Bridges collapse everyday in China, Story of Train derailing in more rampant in China. Just recently, Asiana Airline crash landed a plane in San Francisco In yankee.. I'm not saying America is Perfect, they have their own short comings, but America is number 1 and it doesn't make sense romancing with Number 2 or se 3 ni behind russia. You can never compare "Made in China" and "Made in America" We are Giants of Africa and African's Number 1, it makes sense Romancing with world number 1.. Like Obama romance with Mandela, 1st black American president visiting 1st black South African President.. Dangote romancing with Bill gates.. Africa's Number 1 and World/American number 1.. I just hope u guys c where I'm coming from. My GEJ rating has dropped 15 basis point. Goodluck sha..
Has Nigeria said it will not play with USA? Is USA dealing with China spite on Nigeria? Countries are free to engage in diplomatic ties with any country of their choice. Do you know how many bridges that collapsed in USA in a day? In fact, your entire postulations looked childish at best. The president of any country with similar views such as the ones you displayed on the above post should not receive any form reception from developed countries such as China. |
Dreal1247: If the problem in Nigeria is tribal induced, what do we call this one? I av always said that the problem of Nigeria wont get solved through dividing the country. Determination with mutual understanding is what we need. God help us. If these two sister states cant live peacefully together, we have a long way to go.You have shown Nigeria is worse than any nation that may arise from the ashes of Nigeria. There is nothing wrong in sibling rivalry. Sometimes such dispute leads to a better mutual understating than anticipated. Even in great USA, state’s squabbles had led to fights and litigations up to Supreme Court. It is absurd to think that Imo State has a character such as Rochas Okorocha as governor then a region in Republic of Igbo land would have a person of Okorocha’s personality as premier. The simple fact that a new Republic is about to replace Republic of Nigeria is enough to give the citizens of the new republic a new sense of patriotism. |
I honestly think besides tribal bias, insincerity is a killer standing in the way of Nigerian growth. If the senators are not sincere to the people who elected them, why on earth does Nigeria have the so-called National Assembly? As the Senator Ndume has alluded on the floor debate, militants or armed robbers will think twice before engaging a village or quarters where considerable individuals possessed firearms. |
I had wished the so-called south-east political zone contributed zero to the economy of the jungle called Nigeria. Also hoped the moronic strain of such kneejerk supposition/chart could spur the animals that precipitated a war against Biafra to have change of outlook and see the need of going our separate ways from the jungle called Nigeria. |
shegzee43: It's so annoying to hear crazy comments that seem to defend the action of the Nigerian captain. Young Nigerians, why do we accept it when the man in Khaki portrays himself as above the law? We are not in war neither are we experiencing any form of instability. Come to think of it doesn't the young lady have the right to ask why she was being pushed? If that means questioning the authority of the captain he should have resorted to metting punishment rather than brutalising her. This is the height of inhumanity. Nobody has the right whatsoever to brutalise anyone in a civilised, peaceful and democratic society. If the Nigerian army is still what it used to be, I assure you the captain will either be demoted or dismissedAbove post is among the problems that besieged Nigeria. Anybody in military or para-military uniform of a country is the representative of the country’s law. If the young lady had acted like a civilized person when the commandant ordered everybody to go inside, she should be on her feet now and probably be dancing. However, the Captain should not have placed his/her hand on the young talk less of pushing her. Nigeria is like computer lexicon, garbage in, garbage out. |
ooua: Just listen to yourself. A young person like you is reasoning like this, i feel for you and your society. If Nigerian youth reason the way you do then I wonder how this country will look like in the next 20 yrs. That officer has no right whatsoever to put that young woman in that condition. I trust the press wait you will see the outcome and you will eat your words. If Nigerian youths listen to you for a second, they will be all crippled in next 20 years. Even in the country remotely tagged as the mother of democracy and freedom, when a police orders you to stop, you had better stop. |
Let them settle it once and for all at the battle field. The rush to settle fundamental issues such as the one between Ijo and Isekiri has led to perpetual bloodshed. |
I guess birds of the same feathers flock together. Amaechi seems to be learning from Okorocha. From giving irresponsible alms to praise singers to staging automobile accident, Amaechi follows sheepishly. |
I guess the first thing Keyamo would have done before holding brief for Nigerian senate is sue for the equity on number of senators the states or so-called political zones provide to senate. It is unfortunate the so-called lawyer in Keyamo overlooked the tendency of holding the country to ransom due to lopsided advantage in number of Senators one political zone or region enjoys in the senate. Until the political zones in Nigeria have equal number of states with equal number of Senators in the senate, the number game in confirmation of political appointments must take a back seat in Nigerian senate. It is arrant nonsense to mention USA, which is a country, in political analysis with a jungle called Nigeria. |
eGuerrilla: Listen, I posted the damn# attachment along with jocular comments - not you - so I should know!I strongly stood by my remark on the previous post which was a mere question. You could have answered my question with yes or no proposition. By the way, if HON. OYETUNDE OLADIMEJI OJO had no intentions of mischievousness, he would have stated the name of the school where he got his DIPLOMA in JOURNALISM. He cleverly avoided the named of school and was caught on the stipulated dates when he was still at SENTON SEC.SCH. |
eGuerrilla: It is you, sir, who is slowly being eaten up by bigotry as is all to evident on these boards - not me.Again, I urge you to drop your bias mind and look at the dates Stella allegedly ended her secondary school studies and when she was born. She could not be possibly born the year she finished secondary. I guess in the world of bigots such as you and most Nigerians, posing a mere question is a crime. |
eGuerrilla: I am disappointed with the folks at PointblankNews for running with this petty piece of balderdash, which does little to advance the cause of probity. If you do not see a typo on the date of birth of Stella as against the date she finished secondary school, it is safe to say you were so fast to satisfy your bigotry views and missed the little pointer. The pointer was that she could not have started elementary school before she was born. |
Is there any member of ACN who did not purchase one form of certificate or the other? |
It is an act of absolute craziness to rope sincerity in the same sentence with Nigeria. |
@OP What a question!! APC (Allah People’s Congress) is a would-be Islamic party if, at all, registered by INEC. Must you view the structure of leadership in the organization to realize it is a den of jihadists? |
Most Nigerians do not know shame. A grandfather of saboteur such as Edwin Clark has the effrontery to label others as saboteurs. |
It is a noted fact that everything about this particular group of people in Nigeria is tribally tinted. |
It is what it is, hence Nigeria. This is what you get from people who thought development is the presence of painted concrete and corrugated iron structures. |
Paul onminyi: Illiterate does nt wen u read or write. Wat happen 2 ovarall charater/behaviour?No wonder Nigeria is in a bad shape. Even criminal could mean saint in Nigeria. |
Tosman12: so because som1 can read and write makes him/her literate....i guess my 3yr old daughter is a professor now cos she can read and write....There is no doubt that your alleged three year old daughter could understand the connotation and usage of word-illiteracy/illiterate in a sentence better than you. |
jaymichael: On the contrary, you are greatly @fault and I also question your first school leaving. (primary 6) certificate. You have shown yourself as someone that lacks understanding prowess. Re read the article all over again, no where did the Doctor say that Patience Jonathan is an illiterate. Dr.It is unfortunate Nigeria’s problem streams from poor articulation. Even from the interview credited to one goofy Junaid Muhammad, there was no instance where the actions of Patience Jonathan’s visit to Rivers State indicated she can not read or write. She may commit blunder and the world has seen geniuses blunder around. I think every right thinking fellow must agree that blunder is not exclusive reserve of dunces. Let me examine your attempt to sound intelligent. If you describe a person’s action as inhuman, of course, you did not call the person an INSECT or a REPTILE; you proclaimed the person acted like an insect or a reptile. Now, where did Patience Jonathan’s actions in River State remotely suggested she could neither read nor write? I know Patience Jonathan can read and write in Igbo and Ijo. Junaid Muhammad is entitled to his or her private opinions but when such ill-informed opinions hit the public arena, they should be equally subjected to public criticisms. Thanks goodness I live in a country where people do not construe democracy to only embrace their myopic views. The cardinal point of democracy is for everybody to play to the rules, sometimes precedent and sustenance. I love it when persons from developed countries of the world talk about the essence of PPP. The bane of Africans is inability to get off the stage when their time is over. For instance, give a Nigerian microphone to make short speech, he or she turns the short speech into a lecture. You, Junaid Muhammad and Chibuike Amaechi are typical example of what is wrong with Nigeria in particular and Africa in general. There was a process that saw Amaechi as the chairperson of the so-called NGF. One wonders why Amaechi singlehandedly decided to change the process in order to for Amaechi to remain as the chairperson of such organization longer than intended. |
What was the initial process that saw Amaechi as the chairman of so-called Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF)? Why did Amaechi opt to change the initial process without the consent of all the governors? Africans must learn not to change policy that governs certain processes and procedures in order to enhance personal ends. This is the reason mere African cultural organizations falter in faraway USA. When a lapper is elected chairperson, he or she with deluded cliques will secretly changed every procedure and process in the book even the one that saw them as chairperson of the organization. |
Mrs Stalla Oduah-Ogiemwinyi, I say more grease to your elbows. You are pretty and hard worker. Please make Port Harcourt or Enugu the ceremonial home base of the national carrier which could compel it to have direct or connecting routes from Europe, Asia and Americas to Port Harcourt, Enugu, Lagos, Kano and Abuja. If Enugu and Port Harcourt will be too much to ask, at least, one of the two eastern cities must be linked to the national carrier’s direct connection. |
Gbawe: @OP.The above postulation is a very simplistic and illusionary ideal. Nigeria will never see growth and development beyond concrete and corrugated iron sheets as long as it remains as presently constituted. Nigeria can not ward off external aggression without going down by internal implosion. |
