Ola Johnson: WS is not an author, right? Please, for the benefit of 'ignorant' people like me, who is an author. The most unfortunate part about Nigerian social saga is people such as you who are ridiculously ill-educated. I shall not be surprised if you are among the bloody nitwits who call a person who can read and write an illiterate. |
Ola Johnson: Would you then say that because Tuface has more sale he is better singer than Osadebe. It is unfortunate you kept drooling in ignorance. I suggest you stop comparing apples and oranges. Wole Soyinka would have been nobody if he had tried to cut his teeth as an author. |
Some Nigerians are irredeemably ignorant and it showed on this thread. |
Why do Nigerians bent on creating irrelevance in the domain of stupidity? What is the essence of the wasteful and so-called Governor’s forum? Nigeria has State and National Assemblies lying furlough yet some goons are yarning about governor's forum. Maybe, Nigerians should request for the formation of deputy governor’s forum, first lady’s forum, swindler’s forum and kidnapper’s forum. What of dolt’s forum. |
The man was good even as a storyteller. Some folks in Nigeria kidnap skirts yet they are not good at the act. What a shame. |
It annoys me when few deluded Nigerians try very hard to pass as detribalized zombies. Everything in Nigeria is tribally skewed including news coverage. |
django1: Where's it located?Of course, I guess it is Lagos. Leo Stan Eke is another Efulefu among many in Igbo land. |
Dawdy: Osun is more peaceful than EnuguOsun governor’s goats have been decimated. |
Desola: Try harder!I will, definitely. |
It is nice to notice that Desola can reason from structures above her shoulders instead of the structures below her waist. |
Yes!!! I guess through disintegration. |
bobthebuilder99: Let's start with Ethiopian literature. The woman pictured below is an Assistant Professor of Comparitive Literature and African American Studies at PRINCETON UNIVERSITY....The above junks are fool’s delights. It is laughable some folks are trying very hard to turn any primordial sketch into literature. What a wasteful endeavor. |
PhysicsQED: Jean-Paul Sartre refused the Nobel prize in literature in 1964.Whatsup Physics? Thanks for the information. |
bobthebuilder99: You are incredibly uneducated.I thought you were ill-educated but when you dabbled into who wrote the bible, I realized you were pitifully ill-educated. I shall not get into the silly postulation about who wrote the bible with an ignoramus who seemed comfortable trading on insinuations. |
bobthebuilder99: babyosisi...I think you missed the point. Some Africans in general and Nigerians in particular are so lost in the dirtiness of ethnic bias that logical reasoning is alien to them. Which literature book written by Egyptian attended the pedigree of being text in school curriculum in Egypt talk less of North Africa? Did the so-called Scrolls in Timbuktu ever become school text in Mali? It is even insulting to dabble into what the above poster called Ethiopian texts when dealing about literature as in discussion. |
Ola Johnson: How then would you describe Ojukwu's statement that Awolowo was the best President never had?sarcasm |
Ola Johnson: It is rather unfortunate that rather than blame Odumegwu Ojukwu, you are blaming Obafemi Awolowo. Ojukwu went to war without food but hoped to be fed by his enemies; without money but hoped to steal from Central Bank of Nigeria to buy weapons. Though they broke into their branches in Benin and Calabar, the intelligent Awolowo quickly changed our currency, thereby rendering the stolen money useless.I can safely say you have issues with comprehension. Awolowo personally owned up to the “win the war policies of Nigeria”. It is very silly for praise singers to accuse anybody who dares to point out the obvious deeds of Awolowo as a blamer. |
Ola Johnson: Unfortunately he did not get it.Yet in your wild postulation, it downed on you that Achebe rejected whatever title that suits your freaking imagination. The way CA rejected whatever title you had in mind is the manner he would have rejected Nobel Prize crap. |
Ola Johnson: It appears you don't understand common English: CA himself rejected the title. Why are you crying more than the bereaved?Achebe would have been the first living being to have rejected the Nobel Prize crap which greets your miserable morning. I have personal respect for Wole Soyinka but he would have been a basement figure if he tried to cut his niche as an author instead of dramatist. |
funnyx: You really don't need to use your thread as a bait before you know that tribalism exists and trending. What is ironic is that people like you that are quick to accuse others of tribalism are guilty of the same. Isn't it obvious that many contributors on this thread leans towards 'their man' rather than look at the facts and issues raised in the interview? Some folks on this forum are merely crutching straw for dull passage of time. What is there for Awolowo to defend in Achebe’s book tagged “There was a county” when the tribal icon had arrogated the policy of starvation as a weapon of war to his abler self. Only ill-educated African will get excited over the Nobel Prize crap. The Nobel Prize joke runs parallel with the so-called Rhode’s Scholarship. |
Alhaji Rochas Okorocha is a bloody moro.n. What type of democracy is he running in Imo State? I do not think it is one that mandated “one man one vote and embraces the rule of law” that saw him as governor of Imo State. |
Rochas Okorocha’s silly postulation on the pilot training is very illogical and inimical. Whose planes will these pilots fly? He sold ADAPALM to Roche group which had employed agronomists from outside Nigeria to work in the laboratories and fields. What happened to the so-called umemployed youths in Imo State with degrees bordering on biology, chemistry, economics, ecology and earth science? Why South Africa and Singapore? Rochas Okorocha sold the ITC to Ginikana, another of his fronts in Imo State. In USA, it was a post graduate degree holder that founded UPS. The Imo State Transport Company could have been expanded to national carrier with influx of people with certain skill sets. I am not even going to talk about Imo State printing corporation which Rochas Okorocha has diverted to Lemonade Printing Press in Lagos. Anybody who knows about the Lemonade Hotel at Ikenegbu Owerre and ownership can understand Imo State now belongs to Alhaji Rochas Okorocha. |
Alhaji Rochas Okorocha is who he is, a dirty con man. |
d Nobel Prize committee didn't deem Achebe worthy of a prize. what's with all d whining? it's even ironic when u consider why Achebe wrote "Things Fall Apart." Wasn't it in response to Conrad? A very charged book like his fits more in d genre of political "propaganda." in response to babyosisi, d popularity of the book actually owes a ton more to the fact that millions of students are FORCED to read d damn book in high school every year rather than because all those buyers truly wanted to buy d book out of interest. If that makes him king or father of African literature. then so be it. Kim Kardishian (based on popularity) is queen of American entertainment after all... maybe she also deserves Nobel Prize. tons of African writers have better quality works out there if you're looking for good African literature. quantity is not d same as quality. but then again, you don't strike me as someone who reads so d advice may not be useful to u.
The Nobel Prize Committee is a bunch of KKK members who frowned at the Achebe’s scintillating criticisms of Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness through the essays tagged “An Image of Africa”. If Achebe had cast the Africans in a silly image in his novels as Wole Soyinka did in his dramatic works, the bunch of weird characters on the so-called Nobel Prize Committee would have been rushing to Chinua Achebe with the silly prize. |
texazzpete: Tranalation: "I have no evidence for my false accusations so I resort to insults to win arguments against my betters"I am “better or greater than Joe” is the idiotic mindset that got goons such as you twisted out of human form simply because certain Africans and non-Africans called Achebe the Father of African Literature. Based on your disgraceful foolery, you do not deserve any evidence to prove your silly indulgence on issues bordering on tribal bias on this forum so STFU. |
texazzpete: I dare you to point out any of my posts on Nairaland where I embraced tribal bias. I'm not sure if you were under the influence of alcoholic beverages when you made this daft statement. It appears you are down with bottles and do not deserve any evidence so STFU, olodo. |
SMH. Complete BS!!! TFA had nothing to do with Conrad's Heart of Darkness. It wasn't until 1975 that Achebe's reply to Conrad's work titled "An Image of Africa: Racism in Conrad's Heart of Darkness" was published whereas TFA was published in 1958, a whole 17 years before that. People come here arguing about things they know nothing of and passing off a whole lot of misinformation. Damn shame. Meanwhile there's potent tribalism all over this thread. Babyosisi has continually dealt you guys blow after hard blow, but had the magnanimity to concede that she reveres WS. I have yet to see the same magnanimity on the other side. You guys have refused to accept the judgement of peerless folks like Nadine Gordimer who labeled CA FATHER OF MODERN AFRICAN LITERATURE. Don't let jealousy eat your young hearts away
Bros, we are dealing with empty-headed clowns whose engines run on tribal bias. |
