I have seen an igbo bride price ooo undecided and the amount of everything sef is enuf to buy land..in some underdeveloped areas sef,it will buy land and build house undecided
Where is the locality?
Because a lot of people come here to make up stories about igbo bride price. Do you know how many of us married igbos?

I don't know which part of Igboland ammyluv2002 is from, but the estimate she gave is what I had in mind as a standard bride price expense. And that includes stuffs for mom, dad, the males and females of the community. The particular money to be paid as dowry on the lady is very negligible. In my tradition, we don't accept payment on the lady's head as long as the folks have been satisfied.

Today, he makes his school debut. Despite being tired, the way he is bouncing up and down in joy really means he missed his folks #lol.

But it's just Day One of a very lenghty spell. Oluwa lead the way.

Anybody with half-a-brain should have taken these guys to the next level. They're doing something local that we spend to import. Investing in them to make it purer and Naijamade would definitely make much more sense. But No, it's all about body odour making a statement.

If it were the WHO that issued a statement condemning a Nigerian drug as useless; same way our Ebola drug discovery was labelled a pesticide, these same pea-brained nonentities will cry foul.

Change begins with them anyways. Change for the worse.

Loving this.

Perhaps somewhere in the budget; Cleanup and rehabilitation of those places will be figured into the pathetically deficit budgets.

Way to go Nigeria. Bomb all bombables. NA bombs don't actually degrade the environments, only NDA bombs do.

Lest I forget, search for their cannabis farms scattered here and there and bomb them too.

Senseless diplomats. All these could have been avoided by simple dialogue. Gain their trust, collect undercover information and surrender them completely if that is your sole objective of being in power. But No, you decided to play by newspaper pages and brute force.

Boko Haram was a political threat during the last regime. But it didn't cripple the nation. That is called priorities and sorting them right.

Are you the waitress in the picture? If not, how did you confirm that what he is drinking is tap water? Doesn't soda have an identical colour? Even if its water, heard about sparkling water? They cost way more than those coloured liquids in other men's glasses. Did you see the food budget for Aso Rock?

I'll go with Gov. Peter Obi who avoids such to prevent waste of money.

... More often than not, things like this (children sneaking out of the house) are totally beyond our powers as mere humans and it has absolutely nothing to do with good/bad parenting. There is no way even the best parent in this world would tie a leash around the neck of a 14 year old to monitor every single move he makes outside the gates. You however brag to be a very responsible, possibly omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent parent whom such a thing can never happen to; so who am I to doubt you?
I just can't understand. While we were kids under our parents, we knew how we managed to upset their rules despite strict monitoring. It's a wonder how a person as a parent could easily forget that. It's just to pray as a parent that anythinh close to such doesn't befall one because as a parent; you can never ever be too careful. I've learnt this firsthand; despite all careful planninh and organization, even a right move can turn out to be one's undoing.

This is not convincing. I will be glad to counsel and answer your questions about parenting should you have any.
The present decadence in our socially acceptable norms are one of the numerous ills of bad parenting many persons instill towards their wards. Our social sanity is in huge threat with many comments I read here today and yours is one of them.

Kids hear, listen and take correction. Stop this your kids are kids mentality, it is one of the many recountable fails of not so pleasant people
No. I have no questions whatsoever. I know my kids better than strangers and if there's any need for perfect understanding, we will see a psychologist. As for enslaving my kids because I need them safe from 'all harms' of life, I'll also pass on that.

As my people will say 'I gaghi kwoo si ogo gi nwanyi looro gi uwa sugbuo ya na nri' (Mbaise dialect) #Lol grin
FamilyRe: Two Brothers Drown In Lagos Lagoon (photos) by DesChyko: 7:27am On Oct 03, 2016
TPAND:
There's nothing called rigid parenting - parenting is parenting. First it is absolutely absurd to be a parent and not know the whereabouts of your kids and what they are up to. It is every parents responsibility to check the safety of what are kids do, warn them of the dangers of known environmental threats and hazards, caution them and chastise when necessary.

A bible translation says . Take your sight of a child and lose the child. ( spare the rod and spoil the child ). Nobody should justify these people their negligence led to the death of two young minds. Who knows the kinds of destiny those children carry, see how recklessness as a parent, led to their early demise. Let's no play the holy card, it is a rude reawakening to parents to keep an eye on their children.

is it safe as a parent who lives close to a transformer to allow their kids go into the transformer house and play, just because they are kids. Someone spare me. Teenagers should please hands off my mention.
You're speaking to a parent. And trust me when I tell you that with kids, you can never be careful enough. Don't be too quick to profess yourself, an ultimate embodiment of knowledge; I believe experience conflicts and reigns supreme and as such, one should keep an open mind on the dualities of life.

You accept parenting is parenting, but you are reluctant to accept the diverse forms of parenting that turn out perfect for different kids. Stop conflicting yourself. Some kids are born to be explorers; caging them up is caging in their dreams and you may end up siring a boring clone of yourself.

Now, the news said the boys died in a lagoon. Where the parents supposed to install CCTV on all paths the kids follow or havr a GPS impregnated into their skins because you want to be aware of where they are at all times?

What if the boys had been on an errand? What if they never mentioned going near a lagoon to their parents? Do you know how kids who have been caged up all their lives misuse freedom at the slightest chance? A million questions I could ask to get you off this your 'one-way' traffic mode of reasoning. Kids are kids, not adults.Stop expecting 100% compliance with parents' every order. Allow them space to learn.

It doesn't have to take the death of kid(s) to awaken parents to the need for observing their offsprings. Even a second of badly exhibited table manner is a call to duty. Just understand your child first and key into the best way to handle him/her.

Kirinwa:
Of course you will love it. Besides what is your CGPA in school?

Op is only celebrating mediocrity.
I have a very low CGPA.
My folks expected a first class but I was only able to get a 2.2.
Whenever people hear about my result, they seem incredulous.
And that's because I prove much more intelligent than they ever assume, even amongst my departmental colleagues. That's just me being modest.
A long time ago, I found myself unsatisfied with the 'one-way' traffic of the Nigerian education system. I rebelled a lot by being inventive in my exams and my grades suffered. I questioned lecturers a number of times and got a little ostracized. Perhaps I could afford it because I wasn't looking up to the University for a source of living.
I was disappointed, along with everyone else over my grades, but that didn't kill the spirit of discovering stuffs for myself. The result is: I'm well aware of the size of my knowledge and how much I'm versed in; I am also aware there is a lot to discover; lot more than the lecturers who tutored me in school.

How else do you explain this? I always turn out tops of the department in seminar defences and project defences but have problems keeping up with written examinations? That's because one encourages flexibility and research while the other does not.

Yes! I only played within a fenced compound and at school which we were even supervised by teachers. I was never close to a canal not to talk of a lagoon. In a sane country, parents of those kids will face charges.
I was shut in as a kid growing up in a rowdy suburb of Lagos; Ijora Badia. Can't remember walking the streets without supervision, but all that changed when we moved. And perhaps it was a good thing we moved because prior to that, I couldn't express myself publicly but I soon surmounted it in my teenage years. What I couldn't surmount till date is the shyness that comes with meeting new people for social purposes till date. So, when I say I am not a fan of shut-in, I really really mean it.

TPAND:
You will be a bad parent. With this comment you just made, I can tell how reckless you will be in parenting. what kind of parent would I be to let my child drown in a swimming pool let alone in the lagoon. Do you understand the gravity of this carelessness on the path of these young children parents. Take a look at the picture of those kids, would you allow your younger ones go to lagoon to play if they were same age as those kids.

What kind of a generation is this for crying out loud.
Honestly, you aren't making much sense at this point. How can you simply conclude one would be a bad parent as if there is a user manual on parenting? Your kind of personality plays a role in the kind of parent you will be. Predicting bad/good is not just black and white since the child also has his/her own personality. Speaking of which I don't think you've lived around areas with water bodies before. Kids learn to swim long before the age stipulated thus and it is no strange thing to see them taking their bath in these waters.
So I refuse to subscribe to your 'rigid parenting' theme. Kids must play, kids deserve space and kids tell lies at one point or the other. It's just misfortune that made this a tragedy, what could easily have been pranky/fun on any other day. You may be lucky to have a child with a meek personality. Any other variation could turn out worse should you mete out rigid lifestyle on them, especially if their environment promises something exciting than you and your methods.

Me? I think it was just kids having a kids moment, if truthfully, they drowned in the lagoon.

You just have to love the way the ogbono will form long threads between your teeth as you chew the food.

There is something strange about this pictures .

I mean,it is strange seeing Patience Ebele Jonathan walking behind her husband. Usually she takes the lead, including meeting World dignitaries by shaking their hands, before the husband MEEKLY follows behind.
Zombies really need to make up their minds. In one breath, they call him a looter. In another breath, they call him weak. Ever heard of a meek-minded looter? Quit playing opposition. If Zombies play both leader and opposition, where do others with conflicting views fit in? Oh, and by the way, video evidence that this isn't an attempt to kick up another propaganda as usual?

Sad how the mighty has fallen. In the 6th Picture,I counted only 15 people lined up to Welcome the former President. Back in the days when he was in charge of looting Nigeria, there would have been thousands there lined up to welcome him.
Perhaps another fact to remind Zombies of misguided priorities. With nothing laudable to sing about their paymasters, Zombies have resorted to playing opposition paparazzi to an ex-President, calling him a looter seconds after calling him weak.. Smh.. Zombies indeed are brain dead.

Lastly, who even dresses Patience Ebele Jonathan?this woman lacks any sense of dressing, even with the Billions she has stolen.

Still waiting to read somewhere, even from her supporters that she looks good one day. She always dresses like an Atilogwu Dancer.
Typical 'my mama tell me say I be igbo'. So that is how atilogwu dancers dress? An attempt at humour exposed the lack of depth within. She doesn't dress well according to Zombies but is worth billions. That tells a lot. It is not every challenge that must be risen to. While your value rises, keep your big mouth shut.
