Treadway:
lol. That is your perspective. Some people see life and the pursuit of happiness and/or significance differently.

I was asked at a job interview as a fresh grad if I would prefer to be a janitor for 200k salary or a manager for 100k salary. My answer then was a manager.

Fast forward to now, my answer is still the same. And based off your answer I can tell you'd choose to be a janitor, which is fine and your prerogative.

To explain tha Maslow's hierarchy of needs simply, it simply states that there is always a pressing need that motivates you and once that need is satisfied you move up to a 'higher' level need, which becomes your new motivator and so on up till level 5. Even as a fresh grad I knew I would derive no joy being a janitor for higher pay, and if I lose that specific janitor job, there is a very slim chance I'd get another paying same, but as a manager my next job could be that 100000*10, and more importantly I'd be happy while at it and fulfilled meaning I have somewhat moved to level 4 on the hierarchy.

Where I am on the hierarchy, I can't think like you have sadly, I am not motivated by only 'more money' or the presence of 'emergency care'. I suspect you still may not understand, but it is a teachable moment, someone might learn something and I feel like teaching.

Life is more than exchange rate.

For someone like op with the kind of exposure he must have had and at thatbage to think that way was kind of a let down and that is why I expressed it. I don't care if you move out of the country and do whatever, but pls be sensible and don't act like you forefather that saw a mirror and lost all there senses. How can you say there are no beggars in a country( thank God at least he didn't push that one further) or say one cleaner somewhere is better than someone well-read, super motivated, an achiever with a career who rose to become a top exec/RM? Madness! And you can only read or hear that from Nigerians with no self worth. As backward as Africa is na only Naija dey fall hand and constitute nuisance like this and it is annoying. Then you say they don't recognize your experience and credentials. How can they? When you have told them repeatedly how you don't even measure up to their homeless people and how they have given your life meaning just by accepting you. Why were you guys hating on Emdee Tiamiyu when you are no different. Dem just never interview una or give you mic yet, you'd clearly do worse

Cheers
You have successfully done nothing with this lengthy write-up I can assure you.

The OP sited the working condition that is obtainable over there but you are using what is obtainable here in Nigeria in your writeup, a Janitor for sure would be happy and derieve joy in his job because of the following reasons
He is not be looked down on
He is able to take care of his home
He is able to assist family members back home
He is able to build something back home

Mind you the janitor work is a temporary job.

The truth is our government is to be blamed in all of this, we have no reason leaving the country the way we are now but really they are giving us no other choice.

I know two persons that are of age 48 and were doing well by all standard in Nigeria but they still left the country with there family to UK.

Information on ground shows that what is obtainable generally is by far morethan enough reason to leave Nigeria.

I will end by saying we all should throw our anger at the government and not individuals trying to help themselves.

CelebritiesRe: Mohbad: Mary Njoku Knocks Those Asking Singer’s Wife To Submit Son For DNA Test, by desiredmee(m): 4:55pm On Sep 22, 2023
N3TRAL:
Mohbad is dead and he went to the grave on his family's approval but was brought back for autopsy due to public interest.

It is okay to mourn the early demise of the short-lived popstar but I stand with Naira Marley in all of this.

I stand with Naira Marley as a capitalist believer. Zinolesky, Mohbad, Kizz Daniel, Ayra Starr, Rema, Asake, Fireboy, Khaid are not musical stars just because they are talented. In fact, being a popular musical star has nothing to do with knowing how to sing or one's dexterity with musical instruments.

They're musical stars because someone took a loan from the bank or lenders and invested tens of millions of Naira or even dollars to put them in your faces until you accept them as stars by force. Everyone blames the record label bosses because they're not the main actors who perform on stage.

An idea is worth nothing without the resources to amplify it. In tech, angel investors and venture capitalists take the lion's share leaving founders with the bulk of the burden. In sports, agents like Mendes take their big cut. If it was easy, Mbappe would just wake up and leave PSG for Madrid. Why is it always different in the music business?

Defend the deceased as much as you like but the fact remains that nobody on the face of the earth forced him to sign the deal with Marlian records. When you sign an agreement, fortunately, one that brings fame and money to you, the least you can do is honour it.

If Loan Apps in Nigeria, like Palmpay, that have foreign investors and major corporate personnel have resorted to blackmailing the families of loan defaulters and even crashing events to disgrace and arrest their debtors what do you think street boys who hustled all their lives will do if a fellow ghetto nobody they lifted out of poverty plays ping pong with their millions worth of investment?

I unequivocally condemn the mode of debt recovery above as I only used that real-life scenario to point out the fact that Mohbad was Naira Marley's debtor until he died. The Courtroom or Arbitration house remains the best destination for dispute settlement.

However it must be stated that Mohbad's tragedy and Naira Marley's cancellation is like a loan app debtor committing suicide because the loan sharks blackmailed him to his family, friends, and colleagues. Naira Marley is simply that loan shark whose chronic debtor is involved in a fatal accident while trying to avoid the loan shark's constant harassment. Nobody blames the dead debtor but everyone blames the loan shark who had once given the debtor money and hope even though the debtor failed to keep his own part of the bargain.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family in their period of grief. I genuinely mourn Mohbad but refuse to join the herd to link his death to Naira Marley.
You sound like you have a first hand information on what transpired between Naira marley and Mohbad.
G world wide didn't hunt Kizz Daniel this way when they had a fall-out

PoliticsRe: 2023: He Is Reason I Call Lagos Home, Okocha Endorses Tinubu by desiredmee(m): 9:47am On Jan 14, 2023
This is not an endorsement, all he has done is state the obvious and what is the obvious? The obvious is Tinubu did well when he was the governor, which to me is expected because the resources are there to work with and let's not forget that Lagos was working before Tinubu.
If anything Okocha threw a jibe there by saying "even though I don't know if you still need something"
The summary of all is Tinubu has done well but at this point in time he can't deliver Nigeria he should be resting and enjoying all he has acquired.

Nonsense post
The blood of peaceful protesters murdered at lekki toll gate is on your presidential candidate.
An interview of about five years ago is what you want to use to discredit PO....very shallow reasoning you have got.
When herdsmen were slaughtering people from Southwest please did Tinubu lend his voice the answer is No, because of his selfish ambition.
It was crystal clear that the activities of ipob five years ago was no where near proscribing them a terrorist group.
For your information it's too late to change the PO movement because we have done our research long before now.

How come he is not the coach and can never be the coach.....all this Tinubu's urchins will just be spilling trash.
Nice analogy Obi has given there.

Nice question....I really do not want Tinubu to president of Nigeria, for sure he is not the type of president we need after what we have gone through in the hands of Buhari and his gang.
But really who else is doing anything to sure serious interest other than Tinubu? Answer is none and please don't tell me it's still too early because it's not.
God help us in this country.

PoliticsRe: PDP Crisis: I Did Not Bath For Three Days Over Edo Election – Wike To Obaseki by desiredmee(m): 7:12am On Mar 15, 2022
JohnSP99:
but the truth is obaseki can't have it his way alone too, if the people he met their did not drop their own ambition for his he wouldn't have defeated oshiomhole, there ought to be a consensus between his followers and those he met in PDP cos truly this is really showing he's truly a serial betrayer, he betrayed his boss now he wants to betray those that helped him betray his boss, well he's never being a politician so he really doesn't know how the game is played and he better be careful of wike, cos that guy will really mess him up
Exactly what Wike wants is what just played out in your comment. "Betrayer"

This is why we have not been able to get it right in our politics and governance.

What happened between Oshiomole and Obaseki has nothing to do with betrayer rather it has everything to do with one dictating to the other what and how to run the state even as an ex governor.
Oshiomole wanted to still be the one hand picking commissioners and deciding on several other things.
Wike is looking for sympathy, and it's only those that don't know what exactly is going on that will give him that.
PoliticsRe: PDP Crisis: I Did Not Bath For Three Days Over Edo Election – Wike To Obaseki by desiredmee(m): 6:59am On Mar 15, 2022
saintnegroid:
marginalised in what regards? That they did not give him ticket to contest as governor? What does he want as a governor? What has he contributed to the party since he came to PDP as a governor? Do you know what PDP did for him? We had a PDP candidate in that state but since APC denied him ticket, every other men stood down for him.... Is that not enough for him and his deputy? You don't become a strong party man by creating issues but rather by solving issues
It was a win win situation, without Obaseki PDP won't be the rulling party In Edo state today, Obaseki saw an opportunity same as PDP.
Now the real issue is why would the PDP not want to integrate the people that came to the party with Obaseki into PDP.
What Wike is doing now is trying to paint Obaseki a betrayer, in all he has said not once has he said the exact thing happening. Try and watch the video where the deputy of governor of Edo state addressed this issue.
That you gave your platform for someone to become a governor does not mean you will be the one dictating for him.
Wike should take a chill pill, we the Edolites are solidly behind our stand fit governor Obaseki.
Just like Edo no be Lagos same way e no ne Rivers.
